Thanks nonnie, we both appreciate your words! Things aren't looking too great but we're doing what we can to support the activist movements and publicize any dents we make in exposing the corruption. Donating/sharing support channels really helps, especially as the state starts cracking down in earnest, so I appreciate that.

We are essentially choosing between internal annihilation now or external annihilation later, so no one's having a particularly good time. But I also can't pretend to know what wrinkles the future might hold, so maybe we slip out of this somehow? Can't afford that thought now but it certainly helps to type it out every once in a while.

Hi. Is there any reason that this does not count as a world war? There are a lot of regions who are defending themselves, often against a common enemy or enemies, a lot of countries are threatening to get involved, there have been devastation to land, peoples comes, populations of people themselves. The destruction (that we know of) grows larger and larger, and the resistance news network as well as the cradle both give very detain explanations of military operations across several countries.

There's a war happening on another front that is affecting this, and the main offending body (isreal) has had to pull its diplomats from several countries whether by choice or by being kicked out. Much of the world either is involved, considers itself involved, or has been touched by this imperialist agression.

How is this not a world war?

I want to be clear that I am not excited by the thought of a world war nor is this a joke. I just think it's important to consider who gets to be counted as "the world" when it comes to a "world" war, and I think if the answer is that only europe or western superpowers get to decide when it's a world war then I think we should reexamine why these war mongering countries get to tell everyone else when there's a "world" war

Listening to a radio show where they are discussing immigration laws in Europe. The politics are all about "protecting the borders". From what? People who are risking absolutely everything for just a chance at a better life? Who are we to deny them that, who are we to say "don't bring your misery over here", who are we to decide who gets a chance. How about we actually try to help? How about we give legal ways to come here so people don't have to die? How about we actually welcome them, giving them the support they need to cope, get their families here so they can relax, allow them to work, you know, allow them to live?

I'm so tired of Europe gatekeeping our luxury. In Sweden it's all "we can't even afford to take care of our elderly, boohoo", oh we can afford it alright, we're just not paying enough to do it. The money is there, but taxes have lowered or been cancelled for ages now, especially for the rich, and not even the socialist party talks about raising or reinstating them again. Everything is about budget cuts and "efficiency", the staff in hospitals are burning out, but almost no one wants to bring up the obvious solution. Get. The. Money. And when the hospital staff can breathe, let's talk about how to best welcome refugees, instead of how to best shut them out.

Greater Harad (1990) features one of Angus McBride’s oddest covers for MERP. It doesn’t feel at all like Middle-earth, though that doesn’t mean it isn’t awesome. The buildings in the background, in their sunset pastels, are absolutely gorgeous. And, I mean, come one, black-clad assassin with a cobra cowl riding a war camel with red eyes? The Art of Angus McBride book claims that guy is just some cultist, but my head canon is that it’s Akhorahil, the fifth Nazgul, and that’s just what Black Riders ride down south.

This is one of MERP’s big setting books. There are some adventure ideas in the back, but for the most part this is gazetteer of important people, places and things in the gigantic region south of Mordor. It forms the backbone of half the MERP product line, which developed the region for play as a way to avoid the preconceived notions that accompanied games set in the same region as the books. As such, this amounts to a cornerstone for a sizable “expanded universe” or an elaborate fanfic, depending on your predisposition.

I used to really dislike the Harad material. It was too big, it doesn’t feel like Middle-earth to me at all and lacks the plausibility that makes Star Wars EU stuff generally work. I’m a little more positive on it now, though. It’s so preposterous that I find it hard to dislike, and I think a lot of the design work winds up informing Shadow World in interesting ways. I also think it is a massive improvement over Tolkien’s depiction of the Haradrim. While he doesn’t position them as inherently evil (a common and understandable mistake) he does have them firmly and totally under the heel of Sauron’s boot. Here, though, there are plenty of Free People struggling against the Dark Lord, and many do so effectively. And while the Harad material often strays into tedious fantasy analogs of real world cultures, it is also kind of nice to have the kind of cultural diversity that’s on display here, which is unusual in RPGs. Like, all of them except maybe Talislanta and RuneQuest.

Interior art is by Ellisa Martin, who I am unfamiliar with. It’s fine, but she doesn’t reimagine cultural garb in a way that is anywhere near as interesting as McBride’s paintings.

Happy Spring, everyone! Though where you are may not be warming up just yet (I know it isn't for me), the end is in sight! And speaking of things happening soon - this Saturday is the first one of a new month, which means it's time for another art party hosted by my guild, Verdant Shield [VS]!

For those not familiar, art parties are a concept carried over from Final Fantasy XIV: in-game get-togethers for artists of all kinds to hang out, chat, and create together! For GW2 parties there’s more of an emphasis on hanging out and gathering references during the party itself, and then in the days/weeks following to work on your creations at your own pace and then post to the shared art party tag. We’ve used the same one (#VSArtParty) since the very beginning so you can go allll the way back and explore what people have made! The most important thing to keep in mind though is this: the ‘goal’ of an art party isn’t to be drawn, but to draw others, and share with the community!

Time and /squadjoin information is below the cut, but will also be posted again on the day of the party as squads go up!

Location Information:

It was incredibly funny to me when doing up the promo image that Judgment Rock just...has no POI attached to it at all. It simply is a tiny little region in the Southeast corner of Mount Maelstrom with its own waypoint (aptly named Judgment Waypoint) and literally nothing else. Good news for us though - that means it's a perfect place to set up shop for a party and not be disturbed!

Time & Squad Details:

As always, there'll be two parties - the first one on EU servers and the second on NA ones - with an hour break in between!

The EU server party will begin at 9pm Central European Summer Time (aka 3pm Eastern Daylight Time or 5 hours before in-game reset). I'm actually unsure of my work schedule for this weekend, so EU partygoers will have to stand by and I'll update this post (and subsequent reblogs) with who may be hosting for the first half of the party!

The NA server party will begin 1 hour after the EU party’s official end, at 7pm Eastern Daylight Time (aka 1am Central European Summer Time or 1 hour before in-game reset). I’ll be on my main account for this one, so please /whisper or /squadjoin Zhalsi for a taxi invite if you don’t see my customary white cat tag hanging around on your map!

The dreaded concept of time and its perception led to me procrastinating on this post, only to realize that both regions have already switched their clocks by now and there was nothing to worry about, so sorry for the delay! I was very excited to participate in this collab, imagining any foreign character in a Brazilian context is a lot of fun for me, and being able to do this with some of the dteam was incredible, so I decided to go further and portray elements of the the culture of the northern region of Brazil (the region of where I'm from)

Fun fact: I speedrun to finish this drawing at the beginning of the month because I was going away on a trip for the rest of the month and couldn't bring my sketchbook or any drawing materials with me, so this photo has been in my gallery since the 4th of this month

i cannot bear to stay where i am much longer, living here is killing me from inside, i'm clawing at the walls. i want to move countries, cut ties with almost everyone, have the freedom of marrying anyone i want, adopt, change gender marker, work in a region where my preferred job field is much more progressive and valued, and stop holding myself back from living. i know what country i will move to and which work program i will go through for it. but in order to do that i need savings and money to get shit done like documents and gender affirming stuff. to do that faster i need a job with as high of a pay as i can get. i really want to get the fuck out of here in 6 or 8 months

i want to kindly ask, please if you have an idea of a job that would be a possible fit for my needs, no matter what it is, leave it in replies here or in anons. might be something innovative and unusual, or might be something obvious that i haven't thought of before

my skills and characteristics that can be helpful to think of something, but also not limited to those: - fluent in 2 languages (russian and english) - adaptable, very fast learner, good at finding things and doing varied tasks, analytical - fast to make people open up to me, charm them - good at promoting stuff, but it's fully self-learned from experience - good with computer shit, passable in photoshop - conventionally attractive (it has been helpful in all customer service jobs) - almost completed a childcare degree, have all skills that come with handling kids - though i do not have a degree yet. i quit astrophysics major a decade ago and will only finish my bachelors in early childhood education this summer

jobs that i have done before:

- the most successful and longest one: store chain manager where my position combined responsibilities of offline store manager, sales manager and internet store manager. promotion of top-price brands and their growth in popularity, training personnel, working with vip clients, working with suppliers, choosing and purchasing all products, social media advertising, fully taking care of online store too - various sales - real estate agent

jobs i do not consider: - jobs that will require me to go to another country and exchange stuff. i specifically need money so i can do that in the future, and the whole problem is i cannot do that right now without a security blanket to to fall on. or rent funds - childcare jobs (the field is in the ditches here, the aim is to earn money, not put myself into debt) - teaching jobs, same problem - persuading people to buy anything - translating text. i am horrible with written speech, very very poor writer's skills - the kind of customer service where you have to prostrate yourself to customers. i don't have patience to take shit anymore - please don't suggest sugar dating. done that. trauma

Hi, I noticed on your post that you said that the politics of Scotland and England differs. So my question is in what ways do they differ?

England doesn't have its own parliament which changes the dynamic quite a lot. Part of the reason I want Scottish independence is because I think it would force England to have a look at more regional government.

Scotland has the Scottish Government which is responsible for devolved matters and the UK Government is responsible for A. Reserved policy areas (Defence, Energy, etc) and B. The budget of the Scottish Government.

Probably the most significant difference in the past decade was the Brexit vote, the map speaks for itself. Not one constituency area in Scotland had a majority wanting to leave the EU.

I’ve never really shared this publicly, but maybe IT'S TIME! (especially for anyone who’s been feeling discouraged by poor reach, or frustrated watching lower-quality content blow up or perform better while your work gets buried):

Not many people know this, sadly, but it's not that you're doing it wrong or your art sucks: there’s NO such thing as one GLOBAL, FAIR algorithm for ALL users on most platforms. EVERY COUNTRY HAS A DIFFERENT ALGLORITHM (apparently, the moment you create your account, it gets permanently tied to the regulations and filtering systems of that country).

This means that visibility, censorship, and engagement can VARY DRASTICALLY between users depending on which region/country the account was created in.

Unfortunately, the algorithm tied to MY COUNTRY is one of the MOST CONTENT-CENSORING and VISIBILITY-LIMITING in all of Europe!

I used to believe EU-wide regulations were applied fairly across the entire European region, but nope, actually I’ve observed how easily artists from some Nordic countries (like Finland, Sweden, Norway, etc...) gain crazy engagementand and higher recommendation on people's feeds, even with quickly-done art pieces over the past few years, WHILE creators from France, Spain, Germany, Portugal, etc, struggle to be seen, no matter how much effort and details they put on their art. While SOME artists from those 'VIP' countries still love to think so big about themselves or believe that their reach is 100% talent, I’ve always suspected that it’s often just a lucky combo of their algorithmically privileged region/country + their opportunistic algorithm gaming account activity/management.

I sometimes wonder how certain artists' hyperboosted pieces would perform if I posted them from my own account... and vice versa! I bet the results would be kind of interesting and funny to see.

For example, right now, Japan currently enjoys the most favourable algorithm on X worldwide (and probably on some other platforms too). When an account is randomly blessed and benefits from their algorithm, it's posible for them to farm thousands of likes/followers easily within a short timeframe, even with simpler and minimal artistic effort (and for free! no premium account is needed for that extra boost). Also some people can post more 'questionable' content from their account while others get their posts automatically censored and deboosted by their country algorithm when posting a picture about a male chest!

While this is not anyone’s fault, it definitely makes the whole system feel pretty discriminatory and unfair! All because of bloody political decisions against self-employment and content creators! I really hope we’ll finally put a stop to this nonsense soon! (not to mention the content creators struggling financially because of this, without even knowing what’s causing it…)

Since January 2025, the changes have hit me harder than in previous years: my reach has gone down drastically, censorship has increased, and it’s really affected my commissions. I’ve had fewer clients than last year just for this reason!

I wouldn’t say I trust ChatGPT 100%, of course it has mistakes!, but just in case anyone is interested, this helped me piece everything together and the data about several countries aligns pretty well with my own research and what I’ve experienced myself (these screenshots talk about X):

Ugh. I hate getting political, so have some bullet points.

- Putin laments the fact that the Soviet Union has vanished. One of his major goals is to re-establish it. This has been said openly.

- the Soviet Union included regions young people from today know only as autonomous countries, including Armenia, Aserbaidschan, Estland, Georgia, Kasachstan, Kirgisien, Lettland, Litauen, Moldawien, Tadschikistan, Turkmenien/Turkmenistan, Ukraine, Usbekistan, Belarus. (Countries in bold are the countries I remember evidence of Russia has tampered with. Might be more, since my memory sucks.)

- to ensure the comeback of the Soviet Union, Putin (Russia) uses war tactics to destabilize, control and manipulate the countries to make it more likely to re-unite with Russia. Remember how Belarus’s elections have been tampered with and the bloody crushing of the protests? Moldavia has been calling for help regarding the Russian troops in their country. If you haven’t heard about Ukraine, this post isn’t for you.

- if you are able to read Russian, it’s easy to find the war plan Russia has developed to ensure this goal, including the annexation of Ukraine, Moldavia up to attacks on Poland and east-Germany.

- the biggest problem for Russia to reach this goal is the NATO, and that mostly because the USA had the NATO’s back.

- as long as the nato stands together it’s almost impossible for Putin to reach his goal.

- “devide and conquer”

-by now it’s well documented that Russian involvement led to Trump’s victory.

- the same people, who organized Trump’s campaign, later campaigned for the pro-Brexit side.

- Trump (being right wing) wanted the US to leave the NATO. Brexit has weakened the cohesion in the EU.

- the right wing parties have been growing in Europe. Italy and Netherland have already elected right wing parties as their leadership. The right wing party in Germany is most likely the second strongest party in the eu elections right now. (Yes, the modern day Nazis. Yes, Nazis.)

- right wing parties are more likely to say “what do I care about my neighbors getting bombed? I’m caring about MY people.” They support getting big (hence powerful) positions such as the NATO getting divided into smaller, easier to beat fractions. Poland does not stand a chance against Russia on its own. The NATO does.

- both Iran (because of the conflict in the Middle East) and China (because of their intend to annex Taiwan) love and support Putin’s tactic to divide and weaken the NATO. The USA are madly powerful, but not even they are able to take on three nuclear powers at the same time.
