Katharine Hepburn and Cary Grant (Holiday, Bringing Up Baby, The Philadelphia Story)—They're both unspeakably hot and putting them together only makes them that much hotter. Because physically attractive people are WAY hotter when they're also incredibly funny, and both of them are. They play off each other to perfection, and I could eat them both ❤️
Errol Flynn and Basil Rathbone (Captain Blood, The Adventures of Robin Hood)—they wanna fuck so bad it makes them look stupid.
This is round 2 of a mini tournament. Each poll lasts for three days. If you'd like to send additional propaganda supporting your favorite hot couple, you can reblog this post with your propaganda added, send it to my asks, or tag me in it. To vote in all the polls, click here. Happy holidays!

Hepburn and Grant:
Tumblr media
Truly two of the hottest people ever to grace our screens and when you put them together, it's volcanic. They are totally magnetic on screen together, with the perfect love/hate chemistry. The ultimate 'you drive me crazy' couple, no one is doing it like them.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
They are delight and joy and ALSO insanely hot together. Friendships have ended over the ship war of The Philadelphia Story, and you know what? Valid.
Tumblr media
They are the hottest couple because they are clever, witty and beautiful. They spark off each other magnificently.
I feel like they’re almost too obvious to bother submitting but I’ve made that mistake before so Cary Grant and Katherine Hepburn. I present Bringing Up Baby and The Philadelphia Story as evidence, your honor
Tumblr media
Perfect onscreen match in some of the greatest romcoms ever. My, they were yar!
Cary Grant & Katherine Hepburn! They're my favorites! Dapper & ridiculous both!
Tumblr media
I'm sorry, that's not a very romantic pic, but I had to include the serenading the leopard
and the fluffy bathrobe!

Old Hollywood & DC, an unrealistic casting, part I
(More details at the end, cool movies from the actors mentioned in parentheses)
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
Hal Jordan: Richard Arlen (Wings, Beggar's of Life) – the puppy charm and the overwhelming confidence... it's all there, Arlen is also one of the guys in the first gay kiss in film history in Wings, in which he interprets a pilot, I don't think I need to say more
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
Lois Lane: Rosalind Russell (My Girl Friday, The Women) – I mean... it's impossible not to see the resemblance after watching My Girl Friday in which Russell interprets a brilliant journalist going into increasingly insane situations... it's one of the best comedies ever made and very Lois Lane coded
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
John Stewart: Sidney Poitier (Edge of the City, The Defiant Ones) – Neal Adams used Poitier as an inspiration to model John so this is technically cheating, but look at him! Poitier would not only be perfect for the role in looks but in talent too
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
Green Arrow: Errol Flynn (Gentleman Jim) – I admit I'm not a Flynn fan and I'm also not very big on Ollie either, but I do think these two match, Flynn also interpreted Robin Hood and his dramatic role in Gentleman Jim would fit the more drastic moments of Ollie's life
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
Sinestro: Conrad Veidt (The Cabinet of Dr. Caligari, The Hands of Orlac, Different from the Others and anything else you can find with him in it) – Veidt is actually more known for inspiring the creation of the Joker for his film The Man Who Laughs, but he's way more than that, a talented artist, a true queer ally and a babe who would make an outstanding, overdramatic and cunty Sinestro
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
Zatanna: Louise Brooks (both her G.W. Pabst films are great, and Beggar's Life - with my Hal Jordan from this list) – Brooks made only a handful of films and while they're great, her strong personality in real life is what fascinates me the most, her mysterious beauty, expressive looks and dramatic range would make her an ideal Zatanna, even though her career was very short in real life
This list was inspired by this post (thanks for the idea @forthegothicheroine), it's a very anachronistic imaginary scenario, but I still followed some rules to come up with it, a) to include actors who were mostly active from the 1920s to 1970s b) who not only match the DC characters for their looks, but would also have the range to interpret them in their pre-crisis versions, so the feeling is as important as the aesthetic here c) to only include characters and actors I already had some contact with, by watching the films and reading the comics. This is only part I because there are still so many cool characters and actors I like left, but for now I'm happy with this

THE HOT MEDIEVAL & FANTASY MEN MELEE
FIRST ROUND: 70th Tilt
Adhemar, Count of Anjou, A Knight's Tale (2001) VS. Robin Hood, The Adventures of Robin Hood (1938)
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Propaganda
Adhemar, Count of Anjou, A Knight's Tale (2001) Portrayed by: Rufus Sewell Defeated Opponents: - Sir Bowen [Dennis Quaid], Dragonheart (1996)
“Okay, I get it, he's a terrible person. He cheats at jousting, he's mean to his herald, he ranks women somewhere below trophies and horses. But reader, I DON'T CARE. I can't help it. I admit that when I was younger (and perhaps more sensible) it was all about William/Ulric and his charming smile. But Adhemar... I would commit CRIMES for this man. Those eyes, the cheekbones, the glower! Do I think I could fix him? No. But, god, we could make each other worse!”
Robin Hood, The Adventures of Robin Hood (1938) Portrayed by: Errol Flynn Defeated Opponents: - High King Peter the Magnificent [Noah Huntley], The Chronicles of Narnia (2005-2010)
“In so many ways Errol Flynn is the blueprint for every Robin Hood that came after him—nobody should be able to make a cocky guy who laughs all the time likeable, yet Flynn brings so much charm you can't help but fall in love with him. He is truly a merry man, yet somehow not annoying, and his balance between caring deeply about the people affected by the taxes and his own lighthearted approach to life is just.... can anybody Robin Hood more than this Robin Hood? I don't think so.”

Additional Propaganda
For Count Adhemar:
For Robin Hood:
“Look, I'm going to say it: we wouldn't have most of the men and media properties in this tournament if it weren't for Errol Flynn, his weaponizable charm, and the way his thighs look in tights.”

Errol Flynn and Basil Rathbone (Captain Blood, The Adventures of Robin Hood)—they wanna fuck so bad it makes them look stupid.
Groucho Marx and Margaret Dumont (Animal Crackers, Duck Soup, A Night At The Opera)—They're not the most conventional romantic couple, but they are amazing together. Groucho usually proposes to Margaret within 5 minutes of meeting her (with no ulterior motives at all, it's love i tell you!). A lot of people thought they were together in real life too.
This is round 1 of a mini Christmas tournament. Each poll lasts for three days.
