"BUT THE REAL DIVERSION IS PUGH'S PRINCESS IRULAN..."
PIC(S) INFO: Spotlight on film stills of English film actress Florence Pugh as Princess Irulan of the Bene Gesserit in the American epic science fiction film "Dune Part 2" (2024). Costume Design by Jacqueline West. 📸: Niko Tavernise/Warner Bros. Pictures.
OVERVIEW: "But the real diversion is Pugh’s Princess Irulan, whom [Jacqueline] West describes as the film’s voice of reason. To that end, she wanted to eschew the grand headpieces in favor of a more subtle nod to her Bene Gesserit roots. Irulan is often seen in smaller, metallic headpieces, which West likens to armor. “She’s the moral compass in "Dune Two."
[The Bene Gesserit have] been assigned to control the future and make it go on a certain path. She sees through that and she’s playing the long game,” she says. “She’s seen beyond the manipulations of Bene Gesserit, so I kept her out of that a bit.” Still, she managed to incorporate the nun look into Pugh’s costume.
"I remember when I was a little girl, how the nuns’ habits framed their face. I tried to do that with her, to keep a certain aspect of the Bene Gesserits without giving her the shape, the Virgin Mary-esque mantle," she says. "I thought I could do that best with headdresses.""

So yeah we finally went to see the long awaited cinematic Masterpiece that is Dune: Part 2 and yes there was some collectable goodies with it which you probably already know what it is but you can see it here.
Now as for the movie I'm not going to say too much about it I think but I did think it was really good. It was I thought as good as the fist one. I would think it would be even better if you watched the first and the second one back to back instead of having them spaced out. We didn't watch the first one again before going to see this one which we should have done.
I believe some time has passed between the 2 movies I don't know how much maybe a few months to like maybe a year? but when the movie starts we are right into the main story as Paul Atreides (played by Timothée Chalamet) and his mother are now living among the Fremen forces out in the desert as they continue to halt the spice production which I think is partly the main conflict of the movie because the one who controls the Spice controls everything.
As Paul lives among the people he begins to gain their trust and starts to full fill the prophecy that he is the chosen one as he help the people defend their home.
I did feel that this movie was really good and is one of those movies that going to the theater is worth seeing on the big screen with the big sound and everything this was a movie made for the movie going experience.
Now I feel that the movie was very story driven. It is very talky in alot of parts like heavy on the dialogue so you had to pay attention and there was alot going on even in the moments that seemed kinda quiet. The action was impressive when there was action it felt very raw and gritty at time during the action parts and some what triumphant at the same time. I do feel the movie was a pretty good mix of action and non action scenes like everything lead to some else so it had this nice story progression. I don't think there was any real slow part to the movie everything moved at a good pace.
Also visually the movie was impressive due to its production design, costumes and character design and the visual effects. especially the whole sequences with the Sandworms was really cool. them riding them and of course taking them into the battle at the end of the movie was really cool and impressive. I think next year this will probably be nominated for alot of the Oscars and most likely alot of the technical ones.
Now the sound was amazing along with the movies score but I did feel at times that it was the same as the original when we went to see it that the score was a little to bombastic where it drowned out any other sound including dialogue. maybe that was just because of the theater we were in and it might be different at another screening but at the one we were at it that was the case.
Now like I said the movie was really good but the only thing is that it is the middle movie of a trilogy I think so this one I feel is spending alot of time setting up the events of the third movie. so it kinda doesn't have its own thing going on it not a stand alone thing. I feel the events of the first half is the aftermath of the first movie the the second half of this is setting up stuff for the third. So like I said if you were to watch it all back to back it would make way more sense and I think it would be more enjoyable.
but anyway yeah its great and if you liked the first one you should defiantly go and see this one.

ok hear me out here. wb and denis want to turn dune into a franchise, they have that bene gesserit show already in production. you don't end your main series after 3 movies so I think they might adapt children of dune, and maybe even god emperor just to wrap up the story. the last 2 books in the series are way too weird so that's never happening. or they might do children of dune as a tv series. bottom line is if the movies are making money they're not gonna stop making them. and dune messiah is also going to make a lot of money when it comes out because people like these movies they're events.
why are u saying such nightmarish things im shaking crying already wtf 😭 the worst thing that can happen to a good film (trilogy) is franchise building. I trust denis to stand his ground and end it with messiah. he knows what he wants and what he's doing and he should walk away from it exactly when he intends to do so.

Even If... (A Dune Inspired Story)
Tumblr media
A/N: Mark my words: Dune 2 will sweep this award season! After rewatching the film (AGAIN), I wrote a one-shot from Chani's perspective as she begins to fall in love with Paul. It explores her thoughts before the pair has their first kiss.
Peaks and valleys. Waves and ripples. This is the sight that is staring back at me. It is the structure of your hair to be specific. I've never seen hair that is so beautifully windswept, even after a long day of trudging through the sand, which is ironic considering you are an outsider of this world.
The way you've adapted to the unforgiving ways of the desert baffles me. Somehow, I'm attracted to it, which scares me. What if this is wrong? You tell me that in your homeland waterfalls from the sky and it fills the land below. I can't tell if you're serious or if this is a clever plan to impress me. Either way, it works.
All I have ever known are the dunes of Arrakis. Miles and miles of never-ending desert. Water is precious to us. Not a single drop is to be wasted. Yet here you are: descendant of dukes and noble houses, telling me that you have access to an abundance of it, to the point where you take the element for granted.
I know it's dangerous to fall for you, especially because I hear what people whisper about you. Are you really the chosen one? Do you truly plan to overtake Fremen land? You've already snuck your way into my heart. I don't know if I can handle any more.
All I know is that as I sit perched upon the dunes, watching the sunset with you, I feel at ease. Even if it is just for a moment. Even if everything will change after this. Even if I know deep down, at the bottom of my heart, that this won't last forever. Right now I want to love you as long as I breathe.
