OVERVIEW: "But the real diversion is Pugh’s Princess Irulan, whom [Jacqueline] West describes as the film’s voice of reason. To that end, she wanted to eschew the grand headpieces in favor of a more subtle nod to her Bene Gesserit roots. Irulan is often seen in smaller, metallic headpieces, which West likens to armor. “She’s the moral compass in "Dune Two."

[The Bene Gesserit have] been assigned to control the future and make it go on a certain path. She sees through that and she’s playing the long game,” she says. “She’s seen beyond the manipulations of Bene Gesserit, so I kept her out of that a bit.” Still, she managed to incorporate the nun look into Pugh’s costume.

"I remember when I was a little girl, how the nuns’ habits framed their face. I tried to do that with her, to keep a certain aspect of the Bene Gesserits without giving her the shape, the Virgin Mary-esque mantle," she says. "I thought I could do that best with headdresses.""

Scylla Animatic Style Experimentation

So if you guys don't know, I have been working on an animatic for Epic the Musical's song Scylla from the Thunder Saga and made a rough animatic that I released on Halloween!

Unfortunately I wasn't able to finish the animatic and only have rough sketches to show, but since then I haven't been trying to find an animatic style that still encapsulates the feel of my art style without getting to refined or sketchy. I've also been experimenting with color and designs as well! Unfortunately the next two months will be a busy time for me, so hopefully once I have some downtime I can release more short sips of my progress!

Side note: l've also gotten some online help regarding organizing my story and l've been able to get outlines for the first couple of episodes of Project Kaimera Season 1 down! Fingers crossed that all continues to go well with development!

📽️ Avatar: The Way of Water (2022)

I love the first Avatar movie. I honestly don’t even know how many times I’ve seen it. So I was super excited for this one. I can’t say that it disappointed, but it was definitely different from what I was expecting. I can’t honestly say that I liked it better than the first one, although my sister did. I did enjoy the storyline, but I also felt it was a bit contrived with Quaritch pretty much coming back to life. I liked seeing Jake and Neytiri’s family, and I’m excited to see what happens with them in the next few movies. This movie was a good setup for those.

Sex/nudity: 1/10 (the Na’vi are semi-naked the whole time but they’re also aliens so idk)

Language: 5/10 (one f-word but quite a bit of other cursing)

Violence: 6/10 (a lot of battle scenes, some including deaths)

Overall rating: 8/10

P. S. I did watch this when it was in theaters; I’m just that behind in writing reviews 😬
