Injustice AU. Bruce stood at the stove, flipping pancakes with surprising finesse.

“You’re staring,” he said without looking up, his voice softer than Clark had ever heard it.

Clark grinned. “Can you blame me? You’re wearing an apron that says, ‘Kiss the Cook.’”

Bruce smirked. “So, what are you waiting for?”

Clark laughed, leaning in to kiss his cheek. He knew it wasn’t real. Bruce didn’t say things like that or act this way. Yet, the dream was so vivid that he let himself sink into the fantasy.

He wanted to savor every second, every gentle word, unwilling to wake up and return to the reality where Superman and Batman were enemies.

When Bruce turned to him, his eyes warm and free of distrust, Clark felt a pang in his chest. Just a little longer, he thought.

Bruce rarely dreamed—or if he did, they were usually nightmares. But this dream was different. He was standing in his kitchen, flipping pancakes—of all things—with Clark leaning against the counter, looking at him like he was the center of the universe.

“You’re staring,” Bruce found himself saying. Clark laughed in response.

The scene was surreal. Bruce didn’t cook. He didn’t wear ridiculous aprons. They hadn’t chatted freely like this since Lois’s death. But here, in this dream, he was free to pretend.

When Clark stepped closer, brushing against him with a casual intimacy, Bruce felt his heart tighten. It’s not real, he reminded himself. But that was the beauty of it. This was a world where he could be open and vulnerable without fear of the cost.

As Clark kissed his cheek, Bruce closed his eyes, letting the moment linger. He’d never admit it aloud, but he knew he would remember this feeling long after waking. It’s a nice dream, he thought.
