hi!!! I'm a huge fan of your art!! I was wondering if you would ever do a "tutorial" so to speak on how to draw bilbo and thorin. How to capture their essence if you will. I've been trying to draw them and it just never looks like them 😭 absolutely no pressure btw!! I hope you have a lovely day :)
Hello!! I'm thrilled to hear that you like my art! Here's a small guide on how I draw Bilbo and Thorin. I apologize if there are any mistakes in the explanations or if they are confusing, English is not my first language 😭. I hope this helps!

This is weird, but I like... Really enjoy the way you draw dragon legs? Like they always look so good. Just. The structure of them is nice??? It's very cool, is what I'm trying to say.
Would you happen to have any sort of guide to drawing legs? /Nf
This totally isn't cricket haha. Not her. Nope. I'm just a very anonymous anon looking to the professional for advise. *Coughs awkwardly*
Okay!! So this took me a bit to figure out how to break down; unlike faces I don't really think that much about this.
Something I will note is that like... Joy Ang's dragons have more lizard-y hindlegs? The way I draw these legs is very much more informed by like... wolves. Because I drew a lot of wolves in high school. So mine are digitigrade and have toes/pawpads (I don't usually literally give them paw pads but it's relevant for the way i structure them)
As with the last one of these, I'll give a plain text of what I wrote down under the cut!! Hope you enjoy, totally not @ilikebookssomuch~ :P
Willoillo's Hastily Drawn Guide to Dragon Legs!!
Step 1: Lines!!!
[Image ID: Two sets of zig-zagging lines. One is mostly vertical, while the other has the leftmost segment laying along the ground]
My legs are 3 segments (well 4 but we'll get to that) so I usually start by plotting each segment.
The first segment and the last segment are about the same length!!
Step 2: Flesh out Shapes
[Image ID: The same zagged lines as previously, but at each point where the line changes directions, there is a circle. On the "top" segment is the largest circle, with the other two being smaller. On the end of each segment is a small semi-circle. There are three arrows pointing to each circle; the biggest one is labelled "hip," the next one is "knee" and the third one is "ankle."]
I start with circles for each joint, then connect them. Also, our 4th segment appears!! The toes!!
Step 3: Define Layers
[Image ID: same image as previously, but the outlines have been made more bold to show what portions are on top of each other.]
I figure out what's in front of what & solidify outlines.
Step 4: Toes & Claws
[Image ID: Same as previous image, but now a small curved line has been added at each joint, and the semicircle to represent the toes has been separated into four round shapes with claws. A claw has been added to the back of the ankles, as well. Arrows point to the shapes to show the knee and ankle lines.]
Break toe shape down; add claws and ankle/knee shapes to show definition. Some dragons don't get the back claw.
Step 5: Details!!
[Image ID: Same as previous image, but now with large overlapping scales over the hips and smaller plates added to the ankle and toes.]
Scales, more definition, stuff specific to dragon race
Note!! It is best to do both legs & build from the hips!!
[Image ID: Three quick skeletons of dragons, one with them standing, one with them rearing up and one with them sitting.]

Hi, i hope this question doesn't bothers you, do you have any videos of your process?, im currently starting to learn how to do digital art and have trouble knowing where to start and what to do (im always like, should i start drawing this part first?, is it better to do clean lineart or just paint over the sketch?, do i work on the lights first or the shadows?, etc)
I can probs make you a video on this at some point based on something I'm currently working on, although I have a few on my tiktok already (@ xephia) if that helps!
My process is a bit messier than many other artists - I alternate between stages of sketch and colour before I even think about ‘final colour’. I’ll start with a sketch like the ones below, then slap some rough colour on. This is because IMO colour is an important part of the composition so I want to see what works before I line. They’re not meant to be pretty or social media ready. This stage can look super messy or tidy depending on how I feel or how complicated it is. And they can look wildly different; here’s some examples:
That stage also helps me decide if I want to finish the piece or if I should abandon it (I abandon a lot). Sometimes this stage takes 15min, sometimes 2 hours, it really depends on the piece. But for me personally, it’s crucial because otherwise I find it very hard to envision how it will look later, or forget what I was planning.
Then, I do at least one more layer of ‘sketch line art’, which is basically a first layer of line art to see what works and what needs changing. I colour the important bits relatively cleanly (usually character/s) and add might some subtle shadows/gradients and/or lighting to get a feel of what it will look like finished. Sometimes I repeat this process a couple of times if I’m not happy with how the first iteration looked. This stage usually looks a little like this character sheet I’m working on, and this slice from a Kiki delivery service sketch:
It’s usually not until I’ve done all that, that I go over and do the final lineart, making it thicker, colouring the lines, redoing the flat colours, tidying it up, and adjusting where needed. Essentially I don’t start ‘finishing’ a piece until I’m happy with where everything sits and what colours I’ve picked. It’s only at this point I feel like the sketch is ready to line, and lining and final colouring can actually take less time for me than all those layers of planning somehow haha.
At this point I keep tidying, cleaning, lining, colouring, until the piece feels complete. Sometimes complete for one piece is tidier than complete for another, it really depends.
I’ll also use Procreate’s push tool to adjust things as I go in all steps - it saves a lot of time and isn’t cheating.
Although as you can probably tell from my examples, I do change this procress up a lot depending on the piece! Sometimes I’ll even paint over parts of my final piece like I did in this magical girl street. I think find whatever works for you, everyone will work differently and things like mood, energy levels, how patient you feel, how stressed you are, if you have any hand pain or shaking, and how much free time you have that day to draw can all affect your process day to day, week to week.
Some days it will be easier and more comfortable to sketch messily, other days tidier. Some days you will draw well, other days not well at all. At least for me, I find consistency almost impossible.
So I think there's no right or wrong order to do things and it's great to switch it up and keep things interesting for yourself, and different processes work for different people. Hope this helps!

clothes study! I did the red lines before putting down any color so I force myself to think more in 3d
still practicing more frilly dresses, they are quite hard for me (*꒦ິ꒳꒦ີ)
here without the lines:
also I don't color pick but eyeball the colors and values, trains my perception of them while I draw!

hi welcome to shaba's guide to drawing riliane! a somewhat step-by-step visual guide to drawing the tyrannical 14 year old queen of lucifenia, or at least how i draw her
some notes before i start
- this is for fun more than anything
- it's also because i'm tired of people drawing the guidebook design that has not been used since 2014 and complaining that riliane it too hard to draw
- most of the guide is purely visual with no written explanation
- does not include coloring
- probably not good for cosplay
- i'm not gonna stop you from drawing the older design i'm just going to judge you /lh
- feel free to ask for a more detailed explanation if you don't understand something
- but also understand that i don't know everything about the design
- some details here are habits i picked up over the last 10 years of drawing riliane
if you want the finer details of everything, looking at official art (mostly after 2014) is the best idea! all the reference art in the guide by ichika
and with that, let's start!
main body+ skirt
top shapes and line
please refer to the guidebook for jewelry
head
this is how i draw her hair, with my own stylistic habits
aaaaand done!
but here's some details on things
basically the sleeves have 2 layers of ruffles, this is explained the worst here. look up how ichika draws the sleeves to understand better
AND DONE! hope this helps at least one person, and whoever wants to follow this disaster guide i wanna see how it turned out!!!! and remember, practice and actual up to date references are key to improvement! also let me know if you want me to do anyone else
#this took me 5 hours to put together and an extra hour to post on 2 sites#it's 6 am good night#evillious chronicles#riliane lucifen d'autriche#drawing guide#AND REMEMBER THIS IS FOR FUN#shabart#i didn't save any files related to this btw#sent screenshots to a server and took those screenshots and put them in a new loooooong file#bye#hope i don't explode

A Guide to Osteoderms: Part 1 Notosuchia
So here's something I've been planning to make for a while. As a croc enthusiast, something I often see is people being unsure about how the armour on ancient croc groups looked like and, for simplicity, often simply modeling it after their modern relatives. As this is oftentimes not the case, I have started work on a series of guides on what the armour of ancient pseudosuchian groups looked like, with references to illustrate the incredible diversity found in the fossil record. I have recently finished the first part, which deals with the often terrestrial notosuchians (an ironic and random choice I know), which I am happy to present. Below are a few images to give you a sense of what to expect and below that you will find a link that should take you to the download of the PDF file. Further groups will follow, I just need more time to research and work on it.
