" President Nixon's chief foreign policy aide, Henry Kissinger, was also bathed and frustrated by the Communists during his secret negotiations with them. Kissinger had tried above all to avoid a repetition of the Inconclusive Korean war armistice talks, which had dragged on for two years because, he believed, America had not stiffened its diplomacy with the threat of force. He calculated that the North Vietnamese would compromise only if menaced with total annihilation—an approach that Nixon privately dubbed his "madman theory." But, like his predecessors, Kissinger never found their breaking point. His later claims to the contrary, the Communists agreed to a cease-fire in October 1972 only after he had handed them major concessions that were to jeopardize the future of the South Vietnamese government. The real pressure on the Nixon administration to reach a settlement in Vietnam came from the American public, which by that time wanted peace at almost any price—for reasons that Kissinger himself had perceived four years before. Early in 1968, on the eve of Tet, the Asian lunar New Year, the Communists had launched a dramatic offensive against towns and cities throughout South Vietnam, which Kissinger saw as the "watershed" of the American effort in Vietnam: "Henceforth, no matter how effective our actions, the prevalent strategy could no longer achieve its objectives within a period or with force levels politically acceptable to the American people." Americans had been prepared to make sacrifices in blood and treasure, as they had in other wars. But they had to be shown progress, told when the war would end. In World War II, they could trace the advance of their army across Europe; in Vietnam, where there were no fronts, they were only given meaningless enemy "body counts"—and promises. So the United States, which had brought to bear stupendous military power to crack Communist morale, itself shattered under the strain of a struggle that seemed to be interminable. An original aim of the intervention, first enunciated by President Eisenhower, had been to protect all of Southeast Asia, whose countries would presumably "topple like a row of dominoes" were the Communists to take over Vietnam. Ironically, as Leslie Gelb of The New York Times observed, the real domino to fall was American public opinion. The public, distressed by mounting casualties, rising taxes, and no prospect of a solution in sight, turned against the war long before America's political leaders did. "

The Domino Theory and The USA

Won the decisive battle with Japan, The USA, which took control of mainland China, Taken over by the Communist Party He was paranoid.
He fears the Communist Party more than necessary, He also did a "red scare". The domino theory is also a product of such psychology. Fight Vietnam, which shouldn't be fought,
He bled in vain and lost.

Viet Minh Soldiers Raise the Flag of the DRV Over Dien Bien Phu, May 1954. Source: UVA Miller Center website
With the rapid deterioration of the French military position at Dien Bien Phu, Eisenhower came under increasing pressure from Great Britain and many of his advisers to intervene and rescue the French garrison and so shore up France’s “anti communist” position in Indochina, in April 1954. The American President refused: he had been advised that it would require 275,000 US combat troops to defeat the Viet Minh in northern Vietnam and Laos and, having just secured an end to fighting in Korea, Eisenhower was loath to deploy his military in another East Asian conflict. However, ideologically, Eisenhower remained committed to the notion that the DRV was a thoroughgoing Communist entity and that the Indochina war was a vital theatre in the Cold War. At the same time, therefore, he enunciated the “domino theory” which was to dominate American Southeast Asian policy for the next eighteen years: i.e. that the “fall” of one Southeast Asian country to Communism would lead inevitably to the takeover of of its neighbours by the Communists one after the other.
On 6th May 1954, the Viet Minh launched its final attack on Dien Bien Phu. French positions were overrun and garrison commander General Henri de Castries was ordered by his seniors in Hanoi to cease firing. By 8th May the fighting was over, and the DRV flag was raised over the command complex of the fortifications. 2,200 French soldiers had been killed in the battle, with nearly 12,000 troops being taken into Vietnamese captivity. The VM had suffered an immense 25,000 casualties, of which 10,000 had been killed. Despite the cost, the battle at Dien Bien Phu marked one of the greatest victories by indigenous forces in the history of anti-colonial warfare. More importantly for Vietnamese independence, the resolve of France to continue its now doomed colonial struggle rapidly dissipated.

I was watching TCW for old times sake again and there is this scene in S3 E1 Clone Cadets

It got me thinking who Bric means by "other rejects"
Probably CF99. Since we know they get bullied by the other clones he must be reffering to them, right?
Tho I believe they must have been quite young there?
When Domino Squad finnished their test by scaling the wall using the guns, El-Les said that "no unit has shown such inhenuity" where I think that our beloved Bad Batch would have done something even crazyer, meaning they where to young to attend this test.
Maybe they where little cadets there, hanging out with 99 and doing their training.
We need Cadet Batch, I wanna know how they where when they were little and how they grew up together. (Besides the fact that Hunter and Crosshair often got into physical fights xD )
Feel free to join and share your theories :D

Inlove with the headcanon that Winx Club has dabbled in time travel BEFORE later seasons.
Spoilers up ahead. For ALL seasons.
Back in season one, we find out the truth about Bloom. Well, pieces of it, at least. But, this is about the theory that Daphne not only sent her through a portal to earth... BUT also centuries into the future. It lives rent-free in my mind. Like, of course she did?
The witches already were on a genocide run, a portal to earth would be easy for them. Especially considering that in season 3, it's revealed that they CREATED a whole person. A creature that could make decisions even with them locked away and their powers restrained.
And OF COURSE Daphne, one of the nine beloved nymphs, would have just enough energy to manipulate time and space during her final hours. I like to think that, beyond being killed, its the reason she is in her ghostly form when we meet her. A punishment for messing with time. NOT what they try to pull in season 5 with the whole CURSE situation.
It also explains why NONE of the centuries old adults had red flags flying when Bloom started to get too interested in Domino. Why Palladium didnt have anything to say when he found the dead planet on his database for her test. It would explain why Fairygonda and the rest of the members of the Company of Light are OLD after "16 years". When they were young when they joined. Griffin was young when she backstabbed Valtor. All while Bloom's parents remain young, despite creating the group years back.
Being trapped in ice would explain why they stayed the same. It also makes Domino's downfall even more tragic. For those who escaped before the witches took over. For those who had friends, family,.. loved ones on the planet. They could be dead now. They could have spent the past few centuries mourning and accepting the deaths. Those people will wake up from their frozen states to see that the people they love...have grown older. They had missed years of living.. I wonder if they, like Valtor, were fully conscious during that time.
It explains why everyone seemingly forgot about Domino. The three witches were treated as if they were a distance past. WHY no one suspected Bloom to be the lost princess.. because she should have appeared years ago.. perhaps 16 years after the fall. It's too late now. Domino is frozen over with no sign of life. No hope. No matter what anyone tried, it was dead and buried. Or at least, should have been. It gives reason as to why Fairygonda had to talk to higher-ups to be completely sure. Why no one saw the Trix's suspicious behavior as trying to summon ancient evil. Like a volcano, when it doesn't cause trouble for so long, people seem to forget what it can do. Why they let it slide for this long... why they didn't instantly went to check up on Valtor. For..he must also be long dead..
Which brings me to season.. 7. Time traveling. The butterfly effect motifs.. They wanted to revive Daphne so badly and yet have forgotten she existed here. This season could have been everyone realizing that Daphne had used this type of magic before. None of that Sirenix none sense they tried to pull back in season 5. Daphne could have had a stone and revealed it when Roxy got her's stolen. She could have been their guide and warning them constantly on what messing with time could do. Showing Roxy's and Bloom's bond paralleling Bloom's and Daphne's. Bloom, too, had an older sister who guided her through a magical realm she had no idea existed till she was 16... Why Bloom pressed on and on about being that figure for Roxy back in season 4.
Time travel could have explained so much about all these events and why it's a suprise they are only now resurfacing. The Trix set it forth. But it was the return of the dragon when Stella took Bloom back to the magic dimension.. that set it all off. The rise in magic energy over all. Bloom graduating causes the dragon fire to be more powerful. She's a full-fledged fairy with full control over it. It could be why, walking past the portrait of the wizards of the black circle... they awakened and went on the hunt. They saw what she did. She revived an entire planet. Who's to say she wouldn't return magic to earth?
#little rambles#not really little seeing how long I have went on and on and on-#Winx club#winxclub#winx club#winx club season 1#winx club season 2#breifly mentioned as one of those evils. but good to see something that doesnt really connect to Domino#winx club season 3#winx club season 4#winx club season 5#winx club season...7#lets not mention season 6 or 8#winx club theory#winx club Daphne#winx club nymphs#magic winx#winx#winx fandom

Approximately 7 months ago, during my spectral theory class, I learned of the word sesquilinear and haven't gotten over it since.
Sesquilinear is the property of being linear in one argument and being conjugate linear in the other. In contrast to being bilinear, i.e. linear in both arguments. The root "sesqui" means one and a half, which, tbf, is reasonable enough.
(Side note: this is a property of inner products, which I learned about years ago? But I don't recall my previous measure/functional prof ever using it? Idk maybe just a language thing.)
But I think the word is just so funny? It sounds *silly*.
My perspective has only been moved into sillier territory by one of my friends adding "sesquilinear" to the "potential leopard gecko names" list that's taped to our office wall, shortly after we covered inner products in one of our shared classes this semester.
Idk when he added it, but he was there when I first noticed so I commented it seemed rather mean to do that. Then I recalled that he didn't actually like leopard geckos so okay, makes more sense now. Still mean, but makes sense.
Consequently, if I'm tired or otherwise a little out of it and hear sesquilinear, I cannot handle it and will have to stiffle giggles.
This hit recently during my linear algebra class when we defined bilinear, which shouldn't really have set it off since 1) literally not the same word 2) I wasn't even that tired. A little bored if anything. Otoh, same prof for spectral and linear. So I just sat and continued taking notes while grinning and smothering my giggles. Unknown if the professor noticed.
#im very glad to take linear this semester because its the first theoretical linear class ive taken and i can already tell its super useful#but its extremely funny to take it (with the same professor!) after spectral theory#an analysis class that is sufficiently high up that many major departments dont offer it as a class regularly#(my prev two institutions didnt and its every other year here. there were 6 students last semester)#also taking it concurrently with functional analysis (someone else is in both too lol)#i am like. physically incapable of taking classes in a nice normal order I think. though its been a domino effect situation for a while#seven stories#spectral DEs linear

I HOPE SO!!!! As hyped as I am about a Mimic game, Gregory and Vanessa will always be my #1s I want them back!!!!
#Chip Chatter#I don't think it's entirely impossible that we'll get some crumbs though#Obviously nothing major cause they weren't even alive but like-#the theory that Gregory was chosen because he reminded Mimic of David- stuff like that#domino effect stuff? Shrug

Dear Thephoenixxm,
Oh, I have no doubt about that.
I believe Mr. McGuilded knew more about the Professor and the Reaper more than all of London. When you think about it, it almost feels as if everything that led to the reveal of what was playing in the disk feels like a music box in itself with bumps already premade to play each song.
Gina goes after the coat which could've been stopped by Magnus McGuilded had he been alive, then Ms. Lastrade is stopped by the son of the man he killed for the same coat, which then prompts the son of the murdered frame the poor girl for murder over the coat with the disk, followed by Mr. Naruhodo coming to the girl's defense who helped him on his first case, who just so happens to be the target from Mr. Reaper himself with a hatred for the Japanese. Both just so happen to want to know what is inside that disk and are the reason it is played in court.
Almost feels as if the entire scene was a music box itself, doesn't it?
- Herlock Sholmes
#thephoenixxm#Herlock Sholmes#Magnus McGuilded#Gina Lestrade#Ryunosuke Naruhodo#Barok van Zieks#Ace Attorney#The Great Ace Attorney Chronicles#Mod Commentary#He's not wrong. Magnus originally wanted to meet with Ashley but ended up meeting with his dad before killing him#Granted I don't think Magnus expected Ashley to kill him but it feels like his death caused a domino effect that had never happened before#I think Magnus blackmailed Stronghart but not to allow him to get away with murder. I think it was something else. Tin-foiled hat theory!#Magnus blackmailed Stronghart to give him land or information or else he'd release the disk. Stronghart called his bluff.#Magnus murdered Ashley's dad to cause the domino effect. He didn't expect Ashley to be the murderer but expected to be murdered that day#Or so everyone thinks. Plot twist is that he placed a music box of him crying for help inside the omnibus so Ashley never murdered Magnus#So Magnus was alive the entire time and was watching Stronghart's fall with his evil smirk as everything went according to plan

Domino timeline rewrite
Edit: after thinking about it more, I thought of ways to make it make more sense.
This is my rewrite for the Domino wonky timeline. I just need to advise on whether it makes sense and there aren't any plotholes.
Bloom is the second princess of Domino. Her parents were King Oritel and Queen Marion, with an older sister named Daphne, the current Keeper of the Dragon Flame. When she was born, the Dragon Flame chose her as its next guardian. She was raised for a few months on Domino when the Three Ancestral Witches tried to steal the Dragon Flame. Daphne fought them but the Three Witches combined their powers to curse her. If she were to use her Dragon powers, they would turn against her.
After realizing she wasn't going to defeat them, she grabbed Bloom and hid their presence inside the palaces hidden chambers that only the royal family new of.
Thinking that Daphne had somehow gotten away with Bloom, they froze the kingdom in ice. This ice reached Daphne and Bloom in the hidden chamber and froze them. For the next 300 years, the Dragon Flame slowly melted the ice. With whatever magic she had left in her weakened state, she transfered the Dragon Flame to Bloom and sent her to Earth. By doing so, this activated the curse, and she sacrificed her life. Bloom was discovered by Mike, a firefighter, in a house fire. He brought her home to his wife, Vanessa, and they adopted her. They raised for 16 years before she discovered she was a fairy.

Not gonna lie, I saw somebody say polycule? no, poly ecosystem and my first thought was what you had going on here because like, everyone is connected somehow, some way, different connection for each individual but still has a place in the whole group and there's an "Apex Predator" wherein, oh, you can take them away, sure, but it Will change up the dynamics a lot because they're intrinsically connected with each one even if there doesn't look to be a solid line between them because their very existence helps keep the balance just by being there.
Poly-game of Mikado, pull out one stick and the rest teeter on the brink.
#I like that idea tho! And I'm glad I thought of me lol#Certain members maybe aren't load-bearing but they have a domino effect ON the load-bearing ones.#Things function okay without Mikan in theory but ibuki and hiyoko both get antsy#Which makes everyone else on edge#And then yknow. Hajime is The load bearing structure#If Impostor leaves for too long everyone feels it#Etc etc. I like it!#The survivors are a small cluster of Hard To Separate#not an art#talky talky tuesday#Yes I am reviving it for today#Let's go#Before I drive myself insane thinking of my Stories

I FORGOT THAT THE NEXT GUILTY GEAR X2 CHARACTER STORY MODE I NEEDED TO WATCH WAS I-NO…
I abandoned my girl I’m a fake fan…
#it wouldn’t have taken me so long to get back to it if I remembered that!!#the way I-no is written makes me so curious about her…#I’m not sure if her being a time traveler is relevant yet but it *feels* like it is#it seems like she knows what to do to domino affect things going the way she wants them to#and because of that I feel like she’s done a bit of trial and error with the people she’s interacted with before now#maybe even to the point that she’s gotten a little jaded and cynical#… if that makes sense?#my bad if I’m wrong-#I’m a fool. I know nothing. I may sound like a silly clown disclaimer as always#this is theory talk
