I believe Mr. McGuilded knew more about the Professor and the Reaper more than all of London. When you think about it, it almost feels as if everything that led to the reveal of what was playing in the disk feels like a music box in itself with bumps already premade to play each song.

Gina goes after the coat which could've been stopped by Magnus McGuilded had he been alive, then Ms. Lastrade is stopped by the son of the man he killed for the same coat, which then prompts the son of the murdered frame the poor girl for murder over the coat with the disk, followed by Mr. Naruhodo coming to the girl's defense who helped him on his first case, who just so happens to be the target from Mr. Reaper himself with a hatred for the Japanese. Both just so happen to want to know what is inside that disk and are the reason it is played in court.

Almost feels as if the entire scene was a music box itself, doesn't it?
