The Tory Prom Parable: A Fix-It Fic in Polls: Part 2
Part 1 Here!
Tumblr media
You have chosen: Robby! A very solid decision. He is an absolute pathetic wet cat of a young man (not unlike his father) and thus exactly your type. Samantha LaRusso and Miguel Diaz will be thrown for a damn loop and it will be glorious.
Luckily for you, he said yes! Robert Swayze Keene is very down to Cause Problems on Purpose. A match made in heaven.
Or...hell, more likely. That's more your style, anyways.
Tumblr media
Now it's time to rent a dress! Whatever will be the most dramatic and shamelessly slutty would be ideal.

Now, now, I know what you're thinking. "Good lord, that's too much glitter and glitter is for pussies!!!" While the concern is understandable, consider: Sparkles and bougie girl glam are Samantha LaRusso's MO (at least you assume so! And when have your assumptions ever been wrong???). How pissed would she be if you stole her style and wore it better??? God, she's gonna have such a bad time. This will be fantastic.

According to the latest Star Wars Chronology, the years 9 ABY to 19 ABY are called the “Peace of the New Republic.”
It is likely that the Ahsoka series and its sequels and crossovers all take place in this time period, which means
1. Lucasfilm will have to retcon this chronology because Thrawn starts another galactic war.
or
2. Thrawn finds out that the Emperor he once served is dead and the Empire has fallen, so he goes home to the Chiss Ascendancy in the Unknown Regions.
and/or
3. The Nightmothers were just using Thrawn to get to Dathomir, just as Thrawn was using them to get back home to the main SW galaxy. Now that the witches have achieved their goal, they will betray Thrawn and/or he will betray them.
and/or
4. There will be an effort by the heroes of The Mandalorian, the Ahsoka show, and other members of the Ghost Crew to stop a war. There will be an armed conflict with little or no help from the New Republic, and the brave unsung heroes save the galaxy from a bigger war that could have happened but didn’t.
Likely character deaths or transformations: Thrawn. Ahsoka.
Possible romance arcs completed: DinBo, Sabezra.
Cultures reborn/transformed: Nightsisters, Mandalorians, Jedi.
New Master and Apprentice pairings: Sabine and Grogu, Ezra and Jacen.
These are the “Jedi Mandalorians.” (Yes, I have been thinking about this for a very long time. Look at my username.)
Mando by birth: Sabine Wren, who restores her Clan.
Mando by adoption: Grogu.
Mando by marriage: Ezra Bridger. 😏
What do you think? What are the other possibilities?
Am I crazy? Here’s my Ahsoka Season 1 Bingo card:
Tumblr media
Tolkien references (too many to list here)
Jacen is Force sensitive.
Sabine misses Ezra. 😢
Thrawn does the unexpected.
Kanan reference (more than expected). 😢
Chopper is a menace (not as much as he could have been).
Hera misses Kanan (his photo is on her dashboard). 😢
“Snips” 🙌
Anakin flashback. 🙌
Rex lives. (They didn’t kill him off yet and we did get a cameo so that’s a win.)
Quotable Huyang (Don’t get me started.)
Ezra is still a dork (and we love him for it). 😂
Ezra is a badass. 🙌
Sabezra tease. (Just go look at the rest of my Tumblr.) 😍
Mutual pining idiots. (See above.) 😍
Clan Wren. (We got a mention. R. I. P. 😢)
Sabine painting. (We saw the mural, the loth cat doodles and the graffiti in Ezra’s tower and on Ahsoka’s ship.)
No Fenn Rau. (I still want to see him in live action, maybe in Mando s4.)
Clone Wars Flashback. (More than one!)
No Rebels flashback. (We did get many callbacks though. I’d love to see any of them cameo in Andor s2.)
Loth rat. (Not the animal, but Ezra being his usual chaotic streetwise self, such as impersonating a stormtrooper and stealing his helmet and armor.)
Loth cat. (Sabine’s adorable pet. 😻)
Loth wolf. (They are on the end credits star map and the Lothal Rebels mural. Howlers are also wolf-like.)
Run. (Our heroes did a lot of that.)
*******
So am I good, or what?

hello! 🥳
Tumblr media
hiiii everyone! surprise surprise i am not actually new, this is carly (bejoomi benayoung behanami), with the first fourth muse of the rp(?)...because i'm insane...ahyoung just kind of ambushed me and has been this meme in my head for the past two weeks so here we are. she's an absolute gremlin of a hot mess but she should be fun!! she's very different from my other muses here but no so different from the female muses i usually play if you know me LMAO she far better fits my standard "insane girl" archetype. her profile is here and detailed about is here, but i'll talk about her far too much and offer some potential plot ideas under the cut. you know the drill, please like this if you'd like to plot with us 💓 onward!
ABOUT
'03 liner, born to a musician dad and his roadie wife in namwon. mom was a groupie turned tour staff turned hook-up turned pregnant with their first son turned wife LMAO
so ahyoung has two (significantly) older brothers, and by the time ahyoung (who was an accident) was born, they were all going on tour with dad and nobody wanted to settle down to take care of a baby
so ahyoung got dumped with grandma (on her mom's side) while the others stayed traveling. they would visit when it was convenient but it was not enough for ahyoung's liking
so she started acting out to try to get attention, then once she was labeled a "bad kid" by her parents, was upset and decided well they aren't going to see me as lovable i might as well live up to their bad expectations of me <3 and got Worse
poor grandma is legitimately very kind and did her best raising her i think she probably argued with her daughter a lot over what was best for ahyoung
they tried taking ahyoung on tour once she was old enough but she was a menace there as well so they took her back to grandma and left her there again
eventually it comes out that dad has been cheating on mom. you know. rockstars. lmao
mom was furious and decided to divorce him and wanted to Start Over, decided she was moving to california, and when she was like come on kids let's go the boys were like lol no??? so then she went back to grandma and ahyoung and wanted to take ahyoung with her instead.
by then ahyoung was 12 and she was like ok yeah i'll go. i actually hate it here. and grandma was super hesitant but after some convincing by both her daughter And granddaughter she relented and let her go
ahyoung actually took to california a lot better than namwon. she was just naturally a rebel and very progressive so she actually made friends there quite quickly, she was just still a total menace to society so she was in trouble alllll the timeeee and STILL no one knew what to do with her, even though she did have some kind teachers that actually cared about her and tried to help her
her mom was like absolutely at her wit's end. she had no idea how to take care of ahyoung and all things considered they didn't even know each other that well so their relationship was not great.
ahyoung did just about everything any standard rebel gremlin wild child high schooler could possibly do. got suspended multiple times until she finally got expelled
mom was even MORE at her wit's end and shipped her back to korea, an all girls boarding school for Troubled Childen. it was overall a terrible experience but it didn't break ahyoung's spirit or do much to rehabilitate her if anything it just made her Angrier (and gayer!)
the boarding school was super strict and didn't offer them that much unsupervised time off-campus but it wasn't too far from seoul so she would go to the city whenever she could (or whenever she illegally escaped lmao) and really fell in love with the music scene there. got a fake id to get into every club she could
she actually applied to universities and got into one in seoul for sound engineering. sure, maybe she embellished details a little on her applications, but she was actually smart and her grades weren't as horrific as you might think. timing worked out that her grandma was also ready to expand her humble tearoom business to seoul as well, so they moved together
she was truly so glad to become an adult. now she could truly make any stupid choices she wanted without having to listen to any adults because SHE was the adult!!
she's honestly incredibly outgoing and i wouldn't say she's friendly because she's so sarcastic but she's fun and good at carrying conversation, so she made lots of connections and ended up snagging a job as a photographer for a concert venue, thanks to those connections and her love for photography as a hobby that actually made her really good!
i didn't mention music much in this description but she really always liked music, even without her parents introducing it to her. she had the time of her life on tour with them for five minutes. she would say it's in her blood and that she's also "reclaiming it from her shitty dad."
she writes a loooot of songs. she's a very pop punk girlie (she plays bass and guitar) but also a rapper, so her style is interesting. think waterparks (like this or this ), yungblud, harder olivia rodrigo, etc; sing-rappy.
she's weird. likes dark shit, isn't scared of much of anything. knows a lot about music but also serial killers.
she will honestly talk to and befriend anyone. she's not a judgmental person at all. i think you could tell her just about anything and she'd be like "that's cool. want a cigarette"
she also lies a lot. lies for fun, lies to get out of trouble. she knows she looks really cute and it used to bother her but now she uses her looks to her advantage to play the Officer I'm Innocent card and gets away with way too much because of it
she honestly has a lot of creative talents. she's pretty good at art as well and considered being a tattoo artist for a little while. she also considered being a makeup artist because she loves that too. of course, there's also photography, and there's music. she also knows how to edit videos and she's picked up how to work lighting and sound at concerts due to her Connections. she is Open For Freelance Work (she will do just about anything for a price)
i'm sure i'm forgetting stuff about her but whatever this is more than enough right LKJSDLFLSDGSD
PLOT IDEAS
ahyoung really wants to be in a band, but she's not right now. she knows lots of musicians but nothing has worked out yet and she doesn't have the attention span and sense of responsibility to actually Start Her Own Band so somebody else needs to do it! or invite her to your existing band! she can play bass or guitar but would rather play bass.
since she's a concert photographer she's at One particular concert venue just about every night, but she also just goes to anyone's concerts when she can. clubs too. live music? she's there, she loves it. any muses in this scene could know her!
classmates! i don't know what uni she goes to yet for plotting purposes so we can figure that out. she's better at school these days since she has freedom to do what she wants outside of it, and is actually studying something she likes
people for her to be a bad influence on. she doesn't really Pressure People to do "bad things" but she does a lot of crazy shit, always offers cigarettes and alcohol, says "who cares" about just about every rule, and if your muse is impressionable and/or a pushover it's possible that she could rub off on them
alternatively, people that try to tell her to calm the fuck down. she'll hate it and tell them to mind their own business they're not her real dad
honestly she's very American in attitude and personality despite only living there for like four years, so she'll probably vibe with fellow americans. they can talk about how much they miss american snacks and how "stuffy everyone in korea is"
she likes dogs. will 100% ask to pet your dog and strike up a conversation if she sees someone out and about with one, so first meetings that way could work
she likes video games also; she's an xbox and nintendo switch gal as of now but trying to save up for a gaming computer (god knows when she'll have enough money because she keeps buying shit she doesn't need) so gaming friends are welcome
she thinks kpop is pretty cool but isn't super into it. just from being so into music she knows a decent amount about the companies and artists, but isn't super attached to any of them. people to get her emotionally invested in a group would be nice, though i'm not sure how they could do that yet kLJSDLFJLSDG we'll figure it out!
she doesn't know a thing about dancing outside of the kind of dancing you do in clubs and at concerts but she also thinks that is cool and considering how well she takes to most creative outlets i think she'd be decent at it if someone got her into it, so someone to at least try to get her into dancing would be fun too
she doesn't have a youtube channel or anything but music is a very social thing for her so people to collab with and jam with in any way would be fun for her
fellow songwriters that are open to sharing their work with her; just be sure to tell her if you want feedback or not because she has no problem telling people when their music could use work lmao...she'll share her music too, though, and if you give her critique she'll be like "ok. i didn't make this for you." but she'll consider it anyway
IDK i've been working on this post for over an hour. so let's brainstorm more stuff it should be fun!!

@kennedy-brooke thank you for the tag! <3 I think I've done some of these questions before but can't remember which ones lol. I answered them again (: I've only read ACOTAR so I'm limited with some of the questions. I am currently reading Assassin's Blade and have Crescent City on my kindle too.
1) My fav SJM book is ACOMF.
2) I've only read ACOTAR so by default, that's my answer.
3) My favorite character is Lucien because he's hot and a well rounded male and has such an interesting background. I wish we got to see him more in the later books.
4) To the stars who listen and the dreams that are answered.
5) I love Feysand <3 which is why I kind of struggle to write for Rhys
6) I see the appeal for Elriel but I ship Gywnriel. But would go absolutely feral for Azris.
7) Am I biased for picking Lucien? Since most of the books are in Feyre's pov, I feel like he's not given the credit he deserves. He also doesn't get as much love compared to the Bat Boys/
8) Azriel because that bonus chapter in ACOSF was not what I was expecting from him lol
9) Ianthe and I'm also not the biggest fan of Amren.
10) Az is my fav bat boy. Love that mysterious dude despite that bonus chapter.
11) Though there's little we know, Summer is my fav court and I'd love to live there. Sunshine and the sea??? That's where I want to be!
12) I don't know if they count as villains as there's little we know of them but considering they're known to be menaces, I'd say the Vanserra brothers.
13) I would've left Amren dead...it felt too good to be true when both Rhys and Amren came back to life.
14) My fav theory is that Helion and Lady Autumn are mates.
15) Feyre is my fav.
16) A character you feel is over-hated/ underrated. I would say Eris in terms of being underrated. While he's very loved in this tumblr community, I feel like he's not in other acotar communities.
17) Feyre by default.
18) What’s your favourite character from each series? Sorry, I can't answer this one.
19) If you wrote an acotar book what would you call it? idk, haven't really thought of this. Maybe A Court of Light and Shadow.
20) Who is your favourite acotar blogger? There are so many! I simply cannot choose a few. But literally anyone I reblog from.
21) I do have a sideblog dedicated to fic recs @prythianslibrary
Questions for writers
22) Easiest character to write for? Cassian!
23) Hardest character to write for? Lucien and Rhys!
24) What’s a character you’d like to write for but haven’t yet? One of the other high lords like Tarquin or Helion
25) What’s a court you’d like to write about more? Summer Court
26) What’s a character you won’t write for and why? Idk tbh. I don't think I'm strongly opposed to not writing for a character. It's just a matter if I feel like I have a grasp on their personality or not.
27) If you could only write for one character ever again, who would you pick? ugghh this is so hard. I honestly can't pick between Az or Eris.
28) Whats your favourite trope to write about when it comes to Azriel? sunshine/soft reader x grumpy az
29) What do you think is the best/favourite acotar fic you’ve written? my az x seer fic!
30) Who are your favourite friendships to write about? the Valkyries
31) For first time readers to your blog, which three fics would you recommend they read?
'Cause It Was Always You | Az
Night Out at Rita's | Az x Witch reader
Like An Angel | Eris
I feel like most of my moots have done this so if anyone is by chance still reading this, *boop* you've been tagged!

Frostbite (Casetello)
AN: do these two have a ship name? Caseytello? eh whatever it’s casey x donnie and they’re gay
special thanks to cal for reading this for me and saying i should post it <3
Tumblr media
There were quite a lot of things Casey Jones loved. Hockey, pizza, riding his motorcycle, video games, beating the crap out of his opponents. Normal teenage stuff. Lately he had been doing the latter, ever since he and April officially joined the 'Unofficial Turtles Team' , helping alongside the teen mutants on patrol. Goofing off with Mikey and Raph were the highlights, but he couldn't deny spending extra time with April was also a benefit. Even if they barely got a single word out- too busy fighting off random mutants scattering the city, it was still nice.
But what wasn't nice, downright unpleasant about patrol...was Donatello. There was an unspoken, mutual loathing that the pair shared that even quick glances at each other led to glaring and arguing. Leaving them together in the same room was never a good idea. Casey hasn't understood why the purple genius was so hostile towards him at first. But the reasons became obvious the first time he caught him staring helplessly at April, fumbling his words and blushing profusely. Not that Casey didn't feel similarly, heck, that was the problem. Both were attracted to April. Obviously Casey had the upper hand, being human. A turtle and a human girl in a relationship was built for disaster.
But their hatred didn't stop there. It wasn't just about April.  Eventually, everything about Donatello annoyed him. His whiny voice, his love for using complicated words to sound superior, soon every little thing bugged him.
Things were easier if the two stayed as far apart as possible.
Of course, fate seemed to work in mysterious ways.
It was starting to get late, the moonlight illuminating the sky. The group stopped on a rooftop, perched by the edge. Leo halted them silently, then turned around.
"Why'd you stop, Fearless?" Raph asked.
"I think we should split up. We'll cover more ground. If you see any sign of trouble, use your T-Phones." said Leo.
"No way dudes!" Mikey squeaked. "I saw this scary movie last night where the team split up! And then..." He paused for dramatic effect. "They all got taken out one by one. Starting with the cute funny one!" He trembled, hiding behind Donnie, who rolled his eyes.
Raph smirked, always prepared for a sassy remark. "Which means, you'll be just fine since you're neither of those."
"Hey!"
"And you'll be in pairs." Leo crossed his arms. "I've got it all planned out. Raph and April. Mikey and me."
"Mikey and I." Donnie corrected under his breath. Casey fought the urge to whack the smart aleck turtle with his hockey stick.
Leo ignored him. "Donnie and Casey-"
Casey involuntary let out a loud groan. Just his luck.
Leo narrowed his blue eyes, unamused. "Something wrong, Jones?"
"Er..." His eyes darted to Donatello, who seemed stoic, but equally frustrated with this predicament. On one hand, he wanted to argue and beg to be with literally anyone else. On the other, he didn't want to deal with the leader in blue getting annoyed with him.  "Nah Leo, that's fine by me. Right, D?"
Donnie huffed. "Yeah, that's alright."
"I think this will be good for you both." April grinned.
"Of course, April." Donnie agreed.
"No problem at all." Casey smiled through gritted teeth. When she turned away, they both shared an equally menacing glare.
"I knew I could count on you two." April smiled softly, though even she didn't look entirely convinced.
This was going to be a long night.
~•~
Turns out, Casey had underestimated the scrawny (ugh, svelte) turtle. In what Donnie lacked in muscle, he gained with his speed, mobility and of course, his mind. It was practically impossible to keep up once Donatello had leaped from the first building, tumbling and landing with ease, while Casey was coughing his lungs out as he ran desperately after the brainy terrapin.
"Okay, now you're just showing off." He panted irritably, nearly collapsing once he finally caught up with him.
"Are you coming or not?" Donnie gave his trademark gap tooth grin as he turned, slowing down.
"I am! You're just moving too fast!" Casey complained. "I thought turtles were supposed to be slow! I didn't even have time to get my grappling hook."
Donnie shrugged, ending the conversation with one simple movement.
They walked side by side, neither wanting to say anything. They both knew it would only end in arguing.
"Can I just say-" Casey started.
"No, you can't."
"I didn't say anything!"
"Exactly."
"Listen, Gap Tooth, I don't like this either!" He flicked a stone off the roof with his shoe. "But we have to ..." He swallowed. "work together, right?"
Donnie said nothing. He looked deep in thought.
"Is it because of April? Because it's not my fault she...y'know likes me more."
At the mention of April, Donnie turned away, eyes flashed with hurt, which only filled Casey with that annoying feeling of guilt.
"It isn't about her."
"Alright." Silence. "Sorry, let's just-" He cleared his throat. "Let's just work together, we don't need to be friends. Just get through the mission. After that, we can go back to hating each other."
"That was...surprisingly mature, Jones. Glad we can agree on something." Donnie quipped. "And for once, you're right. This mission is more important than our petty squabbles. No matter how insufferable you may be."
"Now you're just making up words."
Donnie fought the urge to roll his eyes. "So, that's two more hours of this."
Casey scoffed, but couldn't help but chuckle. Quietly of course. Last thing he wanted was for Donnie to think he was actually amusing.
"So...deal?"
"Deal." Donnie said, then added: "Cave Mouth." Which made Casey shove him lightly.
For a brief moment, they seemed to share a mutual understanding. The silence that followed wasn't awkward or forced, it was comfortable. Well, as comfortable as they could possibly be.
Donnie paused, startled by something. Lifting his bō carefully, he tried to follow whatever the sound was.
"What the-" Casey raised an eyebrow.
"Shh!" He hissed. "Do you hear that?"
"No?" Casey scrunched his nose, listening closely. It sounded like a...buzzing noise? Like a fly or mosquito. Irritating, but not dangerous. "Chill Don, it's just a bug or something."
"No, listen!" The turtle looked frantic and alert.
The buzzing became louder. Then, it was followed by the sound of snapping wood. Deliberate and exact. Casey gulped, taking his own weapon.
A massive shadow flew over their heads and landed in front of them. Donnie yelped in surprise, stumbling forward.
"Ah, shell." He swore, lifting his head to face the hideous insectoid mutant with acid green eyes. Scumbug spread his deformed wings, antenayes raised, prepared to strike.
"Well, I was right. That definitely is a bug. Scumbug! Wicked! This'll be fun!" Casey sneered.
"Which makes no sense, considering stag beetles aren't even bugs! They're insects!" Donnie spun his staff like a propeller, hitting the mutant face on.
"Not the time!" Casey tackled Scumbug, who roared, jostling him aside like a ragdoll. He smacked the floor with a sickening thud, directly on his arm. He fought back a scream of agony.  "Do you- gah- seriously have to be such a know it all, all the time?" He looked at his arm, which currently looked seriously messed up.
Donnie looked affronted. "I am not a know it all!"
"Yes you are!" Another whack of his trusty hockey stick, followed by a knock to the ground, face first. He wiped his mouth from the metallic taste of blood.
"No I'm not!"
"Yes you- Donnie, look out!" Casey shrieked, sounding less manly than he intended.
Scumbug, now furious, had efficiently used his enemies' bickering to his advantage. Before he could turn around, a spider web twirled from its appendages binding Donatello to the ground, who kicked and struggled furiously.
The mutant now crouched over the captured turtle, prepared to strike with his signature acid spit.
"Hang on, D! Casey Jones is here to save the day! GOONGALA!" He bellowed, racing towards Scumbug and latching onto him like a demented parasite. It was hardly the most graceful of moves, but it distracted him briefly.
He raised his hockey stick, poking him hard in the eye in an attempt to gouge them. Eyes were sensitive- he remembered Splinter telling him that.
With the extra time, Donnie reached for his bō, ripping the web apart with the extended naginata blade.
Scumbug, now looking more disheveled and horrifically disfigured than normal, retreated blindly into the misty air.
"I didn't need your help." Donnie said bitterly.
"Aw, is that any way to say thank you?" Casey retorted. "I just saved your shell." He poked his plastron roughly. "I think I deserve a little appreciation for my heroism."
"I had it handled."
"Did you? Because you looked just about ready to be eaten by Scumbug."
Donatello scowled, moving closer. "And he got away. So your heroism didn't exactly work, did it?"
"Would you rather have acid stuck to your face?" Casey growled. "You'd look even freakier than you do now. Next time you're a little 'turtle in distress' don't expect me to come save your-"
"I didn't need saving." Their foreheads pressed together, any moment ready to face each other on.
Casey gritted his teeth. "Sure, whatever you say. I didn't help because I actually cared about you or anything."
"Then why did you?" Donnie snapped, pulling away. "You could have left me."
"Because I- you- argh!" Casey felt his temper rising. "Because I'm not a monster, alright? We're a team, and we help each other. That's the deal." He wiped his chapped lips again, the disgusting taste of blood still lingering. He winced, clutching his arm.
"I can patch you up at the lair." Donnie said softly. "It just looks sprained."
"Mm." Casey grumbled, still pissed. Stubbornness was taking over any injury he had. He'd rather have his arm stay at this awkward angle than admit he was hurt in front of his rival. "I'll just wrap it up at home. I'll be fine."
Donnie sighed, raising his palm to his face. "Don't be so stubborn, I can help you."
Casey didn't look convinced.
"To repay the favor?" His warm brown eyes looked surprisingly sincere. "You did help me, after all. I'd probably be toast if you didn't."
Casey snorted. "You got that right."
A beat. Donnie looked unsure, as if he wanted to say something else. But whatever it was, it was holding him back.
"So...we should go back to the lair then?" Casey suggested, easing the awkwardness.
"Huh? Yes, of course. Totally. " Donnie nodded. "Naturally."
"Alright then."
"Jones?"
Casey turned, raising an eyebrow. "Yeah?"
"I just wanted to say...thanks."
"Hey, no problem. But don't tell anyone I saved your ass."
"Deal."
~•~
Casey never expected to be sitting in Donnie's lab table, in between Timothy the blob-organ filled mutant and several bunsen burners, but life tended to be weird that way. He also didn’t expect to be pouting on said table like he was at some freaky doctor’s office. The rest of the team returned shortly after them, and seemed surprised that Donnie was actually willing to fix Casey's arm- and not begrudgingly.
Donnie returned with a first aid kit, setting it on the table. He hummed a familiar tune to himself, as if to fill the empty air of any more awkwardness.
"I've seen these before." Casey said, poking the bunsen burner tap, immediately then swatted away by Donatello. "At my school's science lab."
Donnie nodded, rolling up Casey's sleeve to examine his bare arm. Casey flinched, not comfortable with the random act of touching. "Hey don't!"
"Do you want your arm fixed or not?"
"...yeah."
"Then let me work my magic."
Casey frowned, staring at the bottle the turtle was holding. "Your magic looks like antibiotics and advil."
Donnie's lip twitched.
After his arm was treated somewhat, Donnie wrapped him up gently with a clean bandage. The slow movement made his heart race increase every time Donnie's fingertips brushed his arm, but he ignored it.
Don't be weird, Jones.
"That should be good. Don't put any pressure on it." said Donnie, passing him the advil. "And take this, it'll soothe the pain."
Casey pretended to look offended. "Here I thought you were gonna kiss it better."
Donnie rolled his eyes up to the ceiling. "Don't push it, Jones. We aren't there yet."
Casey laughed. "Yet. Thanks for fixin' my arm, D. You...aren't so bad, I guess. But let's go back to hating each other, alright?"
Donnie smirked. "Whatever you say."

_____________________
When you finally managed to open your eyes, everything was pitch black for a couple of minutes. Your body hurt so much as if someone threw you into a well, then pulled your dead body out, and threw it back in. The oxygen mask on your face felt heavy as hell.
You easily recognized the monotonous sounds of life support system since it wasn’t your first space mission. Damn, what had happened? Did you finally get that significant brain damage Dr. Strange was so concerned about? You didn’t remember blacking out so violently after your last spaceflights. This one wasn’t even your longest.
When you saw the room, you stared at the unnaturally high ceiling that you couldn’t blame on your blurry vision. It just didn’t look the same. Did they move the Adaptation Center to a new building or something? Did Dr. Strange mentioned it before? You couldn’t remember, really. You didn’t think he did.
Despite the fact that you felt weightless, moving your body seemed nearly impossible as you struggled to move your legs. Shit, and there you thought those magic drugs NASA offered you last time were way better than their usual treatments.
Wait. You didn’t finish your mission. You weren’t returning to Earth yet as you had around 6 more months to spend in space. Had something happened? Did Dr. Str-
Oh yes. Dr. Strange was dead. You still remembered his face when Sergeant Barnes, an extraterrestrial from Theseus-17, had shot him right in front of you.
When you saved them from their greatly damaged spacecraft, it was five of them: Steve Rogers, the Captain, their leader; Tony Stark, the Pilot; Bruce Banner, the Doctor; Vision, the Pastor, and James Buchanan Barnes, the Soldier. All of them simply used human analogues of their true names, but the members of your crew didn't protest: since Theseus-17 was incredibly far even for your highly technologically advanced spaceships, you knew very little of its inhabitants. Apparently, they attempted to establish a good relationship between your races - especially since you had so much biological similarities. In fact, they might be the closest to humans among other species you had ever encountered before, you thought.
Well, it was true, but you failed to see they would use it to their advantage to the fullest.
They were a militaristic alien race with predominantly male population controlled by stratocratic government. Their planet was three times smaller than Earth, but their technological advancement was unbelievable, especially compared to human's: it allowed them to invade several other small planets and colonize them in the past. However, due to some extreme DNA mutations, their female population was declining decade after decade resulting in zero births over the last five years. The Hydrarirans, as they called themselves, were rapidly facing extinction, Steve told you while explaining the reasons why they were so far from their home.
You had a pretty long talk after Bucky had shot Dr. Strange, and Tony strangled Wong. You barely remembered what had happened next, though you could guess you ended up being drugged by Hydrarians. Fuck. Did you send a signal back to Earth? You couldn't tell. Well, you certainly remembered Dr. Strange sending a message about saving the crew of Theseus-17 spacecraft. If you went missing, it would be a clear sign of something going very wrong.
But you still were God knew where. Gradually becoming extremely nervous with each passing second, you looked at the countless wires attached to your body and started to pull, forcefully taking them out of your skin and silently crying - you didn't remember feeling so much pain since the times of your first space mission. Violently throwing away the oxygen mask, you crawled on the bed until you fell to the floor with a loud thud. Shit.
You stayed there for a couple of minutes, afraid Hydrarians would quickly discover what you were doing, but since you heard nothing, you crawled further from bed to a wide glass wall, your vision still blurry. Where were you? It didn't feel like a spacecraft. It felt like you were brought to an unknown planet, and when you saw two red suns shining in the black sky, you realized it was exactly like Steve described his planet to you.
No, no, it couldn't be. Theseus-17 was God knew how many light years away. Their ship wasn't in the condition to fly you there so fast, yours even less so, and you certainly hadn't been put in a cryostasis. However, how well did you know what technology these alien freaks possessed? What if they could be using some teleport able to cover enormous distances? It could easily be an option.
Crawling further to the window, you had finally reached it and touched its cold surface. It certainly looked and felt like a glass beneath your palm.
The black meadows you stared upon were nothing like the ones you saw from a window of the little house where you spent your childhood. This place was wicked, evil. You could feel it in the air as you inhaled that strange, sickly sweet oxygen or whatever it was. No wonder their women couldn't handle living here, and you wouldn't last here either. It was clear what you were brought here for, and even the thought of it was repulsive to you. How dare they? How barbaric were these freaks, intending to use human women as some breeding machinery? If their military experiments made them facing extinction, then let it be, you thought, horrified and disgusted at the same time.
You rubbed your droopy eyes, feeling the wetness on the back of your palm as you tried not to cry, thinking what were your options except to submit silently to your abductors. How were you going to navigate a ship back home? How were you going to steal a ship? Actually, how were you going to leave this damn room, considering that your body was almost unable to move because of the time you spent in space? Recovery would take quite some time, unless Hydrarians had advanced medical support for cosmonauts. You hoped they did, because spending months to recover while staying with these savages wasn't an option.
Huh, it was better to listen to your mom and become a doctor. Now you'd be sitting in your cabinet and listening to concerns of elderly ladies, not being locked away on a planet with no female population. You had hard times imagining what they would do to you if you end up being thrown in a crowd of mad men yearning for intimacy for years.
Rubbing your eyes again, you exhaled loudly. You were in deep, deep shit.
When the white wall beside you suddenly moved to the side, allowing a tall, menacing man in a black military suit to enter, you held your breath, watching Sergeant Barnes walking into the room. You thought of his metal hand with a red star engraved on it - he could snap your neck with one swift motion if he wanted to, though he could probably do it with his flesh hand, too. Certainly, he was both skilled in combat and cybernetically enhanced, so escaping with him guarding you would be extremely problematic. You'd prefer to meet Vision instead of the grim Soldier.
"What are you doing, woman?" Barnes asked as he saw you on the floor with your back pressed to the glass wall, your arms bleeding from violently tearing the wires of the life support system out of your body. Apparently, you didn't look as good as he expected you to.
"A woman has a name." You said sternly, watching one of your abductors marched through the room and trying your best not to tremble. If he was raised in a stratocratic society, he valued power and strong will more than anything else, probably, so you had to pull yourself together.
“I am sorry.” He suddenly said, bowing his head as he stood right in front of you. “If it pleases you, I will refer to you by your name only, Y/N.”
You blinked, your vision still unfocused and blurry - a part of you was thankful for that since you couldn’t see Soldier’s face clearly. You doubted he looked very friendly, despite talking to you with some respect.
“Don’t touch me.” You commanded as he leaned closer to take you back to bed, his shiny combat boots touching your bare leg just slightly, making you shiver involuntarily.
“We have medication to nurse you back to health, but you still need the life support system. Please, do not resist.” Sergeant Barnes once again tried to pick you up, but you grabbed him by the wrist instead, silently staring at his pale face half-covered by that black mask he wore.
The man got silent and froze on the spot, looking at you with a strange glint in his eyes. He certainly didn’t seem menacing or angry, but there was something in him you couldn’t quite put your finger on. Why wasn’t he upset by your behavior? Soldier didn’t try grabbing you forcefully, nevertheless.
Could it be your contact, then? You might be the first woman to touch him in years. Thinking of it, the very next moment you recoiled, crawling away to increase the distance between you two.
Maybe the man was disappointed, but you couldn’t see it with that blank expression he wore as he suddenly sat down on the floor close to you, and then took his mask away, showing you his rather handsome, yet gloomy face. He looked... human, and it truly scared you.
“I know you think we are a threat to you, but we are not.” He said calmly, watching you. “I will not hurt you. I promise.”
You were ready to laugh at that. “You’ve killed my crew, people who I’d been working with for years.”
“Yes, and I am sorry for that. It was necessary.”
Necessary. What an interesting word he found to describe what he and his comrades had done.
“Don’t you understand what will happen once people from Earth learn about you and things you did?” As he cocked his head to the side, his dark uneven hair falling on his shoulder, you realized he wasn’t scared at all. “We can wipe you out of existence. Even if all of your kind are soldiers, there are billions of us, humans. You aren’t a threat.”
“We are not trying to be one.”
He extended his hand in attempt to touch you, but you recoiled and crawled away a bit further, narrowing your eyes at Sergeant. Whatever he was doing, it couldn’t be good for you.
“Please, do not be afraid. Right now you are the most precious being on our planet, and anyone trying to hurt you will be beheaded at the very least.”
Of course, you were. If Captain told you the truth, you were the one and only young woman on Hydra. You would be treasured, but you dreaded what they would do to you. Even thinking of it made you face twist in revulsion.
“What makes you think using me like a cattle won’t hurt me?”
“A cattle?”
For a few seconds Soldier got silent, and you realized he was searching the meaning of this word - now you managed to see a strange device on his ear that looked like an old Bluetooth garniture or something. Then the man looked at you with a surprised expression on his face, and you felt an urge to bite your tongue to stop thinking how human he appeared now.
“I assure you, you will never be degraded to such an inferior being. On the contrary, we can give you anything you wish for. I know the status of women on Earth is still far from being equal to men’s, but you are godlike to us.”
Carefully lifting his hand again, Barnes had took a shiny black glove from his flesh arm and showed you his hand with five fingers, spreading them for you to see he was as human as you. For the first time you felt like you wanted to cry, and bit down on your lower lip. God, why? Why did he look just like any other man? Why was he trying to seem kind to you? It would be so much easier if he was hurting you, pressing your face into the floor and binding your arms.
“I swear to you on the name of my mother, I will do anything in my power to make you happy.”
Apparently, it was some sacred oath, judging by the way his cold blue eyes gleamed, but you weren’t buying it. Make you happy? The one and only thing he could do was letting you go back home, to your own kind, and allow you to forget what had happened above your ship, the image of Dr. Strange with a wide hole in his chest still making you clench your fists.
“Why are you so sure we are a good substitute? If your own women weren’t able to survive here, what makes you think human females can?”
“Because our extensive research proves it. Moreover, a couple of human females have already been living here for several years.” Your face became distorted with horror at his words. “Captain’s wife was even able to give birth to two healthy children this year. They are the first children to be born on our planet in the last five years.”
“Humans will destroy your planet. They will kill all of you when they learn you’re kidnapping our women!”
“We are already in contact with your kind.” Dropping the glove to the floor, Barnes attempted to smile at you, confirming your suspicions he barely knew how to do it. “It is true, you are much greater in number than we are. But all of us are warriors with far more advanced technology and abundant resources. We will be able to damage your planet heavily before you eradicate each and every of us.”
The more he talked, the harder it was to follow - without the life support system, the lack of oxygen was making it harder for you to breathe, impossible to focus as you started breathing heavier, louder than before, but still refused to come back to bed, staring at the man in front of you with disgust and fear. God, it was better to suffocate than stay here with him.
“Do you know we possess twenty times more the amount of Vibranium you humans do?” Crawling closer to you like a spider, Soldier was watching you with both great interest and concern written all over his face. “We also have tritium and plutonium, too, as well as minerals you do not have on Earth at all. We are ready to trade them for something humans have in abundance.”
You were close to vomit, your eyes tearing up as you rubbed them furiously. You tried convincing yourself no one knew you were going to be captured by ruthless aliens. Of course, no one on Earth knew anything about that. There was no agreement between Theseus-17 and Earth to trade women for Vibranium and other resources. It would be direct violations of human rights and...
And it was very likely of humans to do, considering the lack of resources you had been facing over the last couple of decades.
When you started weeping, horrified of the things awaiting you in the nearest future, Sergeant finally reached you, wiping away your tears with his flesh hand. His touch was very subtle, gentle even, as he tenderly pressed his finger to your cheek, feeling the warmth of your skin. His hand was warm, too.
“It’s not true.” You cried, turning your face to the glass wall and leaving wet marks on it. “They’ll come for me... I won’t become s-some shared property.”
“Of course you will not,” he shushed you gently, enveloping you in what seemed like a hug, lowering your head to his shoulder. “You will be a queen to me. I will treat you right, I swear.”
“You?”
Stilling, you bit down on your tongue, feeling the metallic taste filling your mouth as you drew some blood. Concentrating when your brain was lacking oxygen wasn’t easy, but you could still breathe, inhaling deeply, trying to calm yourself. He said something about Captain’s wife, didn’t he? He said she gave him two children. He said you wouldn’t become a shared property.
Dear Lord.
“I won’t be yours.” You whispered through tears, pushing the man’s chest in desperate attempt to keep him away from you. “I’m not your possession. I won’t be yours!”
You saw him frowning at you, his expression growing darker, more impatient, enraged even as you crawled away from him, your legs too weak to hold you. Oh, he didn’t like you looking at him like that when you realized you were given to him like some prize he won in an amusement park.
But Soldier wasn’t having it. Had you ever thought what it cost him to spend years in combat to earn his privileges, his right to travel among the best of the best? Did you know how much time he travelled across multiple universes to find exactly what he was searching for? Huh, you couldn’t even imagine what he felt when the team got coordinates of your ship, when he saw you for the first time on hologram, smiling and laughing at jokes of Dr. Strange.
Grabbing you forcefully and lifting you off the floor, he raised you in the air above his head, making you silent in fear of being smashed against the floor.
“I have fought for you.” He let out a guttural growl like an animal. “I have killed for you. I have earned my privilege to have you, and no one can challenge my right. You are my woman, and you will stay here with me.”

Why is thia going past 2 parts its gonna be 3 oh NO
Title: Your Man
Ship: Boss [ @bonelyheartsclub ]/ GN reader
Descrip: i got disctracted by the cAR DRIVE????? also cowboys apparently arent real
You were quick to get dressed in something decent- not wanting to push the tall skeleton's patience, but also knowing there was a standard he held when it came to appearances in public. By no means would he allow you to spend time in town with him wearing something lazy and frumpy- he wasn't like Sans or Stretch.
After a once over, you were pleased with your choice. Making sure the combat boots you picked out were tied right and scuff free, you hopped down the stairs and grabbed your go bag.
Boss had busied himself by fingering through your unused bookshelf and books, having picked some hardback out, eyelights skimming over the words in silence. He startled only slightly when your keys rattled, closing the book and placing it back where he'd taken it from with a click of his jaw.
"Hey, you're fine- didn't mean to spook you." You laughed as he made a sarcastic sound at the back of his throat.
"I am aware how ‘fine’ I am, but you did not 'spook' me." Your shit eating smile didn't go away at his retort, though the first bit caught you off guard. Boss was such a haughty bastard sometimes and it really got under your skin. You wondered if he was aware of that.
But, before you could think any harder, the skeleton headed towards your beat up front door.
"Now, are you ready to go? These sneakers are not comfortable. I am hoping this store you have found has others for me to choose from so I can throw these out."
"Come on, maybe if you'd coordinate with them, you could pull off neon orange Converse, Boss." He made a short gagging sound as you laughed, locking the door behind you. "Ah, well, I can dream, can't I?"
"Keep the dream to yourself then, human. Because you will never see me in detestable clothing like this ever again." Though, Boss didn't seem as unamused as you figured he would be at the suggestion, a slight curl to his mouth.
Out of sheer habit, you headed towards your car before Boss caught the collar of your shirt, pulling you away from it and across the street towards his own deep red convertible.
"Absolutely not. Put the location in the GPS. I am driving." There was no fight put up, to his demand. Boss's car was insanely nice- when you first saw it, you almost didn't want to touch it, let alone ride in it. But, it was his casual vehicle. He drove the damn thing everywhere and you were not going to complain about it today.
You both settled in and were off on your repairing adventure.
The top was cranked down, your hair whipping in the brisk wind, Boss had perched a pair of dark shades on his nasal ridge- probably held on by magic, you stopped asking to be honest- and had an arm perched on the door as he focused on the road and GPS feeding directions through the radio.
He wasn't one for music, loudly proclaiming his distaste of your taste in music after blaring "Two Trucks" as you were trapped in traffic one day. The look on his face was worth a lifetime ban of tunes on your drives, but you didn't mind the silence or small conversations you shared.
Yeah, Boss could be blunt and downright rude at times, but you found it added to his charm. You could always expect honesty to come from him no matter what you both talked about. He couldn't lie to save his life, anyway, and it was a feature of his that you appreciated dearly.
"Human, I am aware that it is very easy to get struck by my visage," Boss smirked folding up the sunglasses and placing them in the collar of his shirt, causing you to blink and blood rise to your face instantly. "But, I do believe we have made it to our destination."
How had the ride gone by so fast? Had Boss been speeding? Were you so lost in your enamored thoughts you had no sense of time?
Both?
"Right." You cleared your throat with an awkward laugh, climbing out of the car alongside the tall skeleton. He seemed to be greatly amused at your embarrassment as the pair of you headed into the southern couture themed shop.
The first thing that hit you about the place was the smell of leather and hardwood. The second thing was the twang of county music playing over the speakers.
"Heh, they really stick to the theme, huh?" You couldn't help the eye roll, but Boss said nothing. Oh, right. The skeletons hadn't been on the surface for long, so this may be a little much.
"Bit of a culture shock, Bossman?"
"Hm?" He broke out of whatever train of thought had taken over, shaking his head when you'd elbowed his hip. "Oh, no. Though I am impressed by their dedication to the concept."
"Pft, concept? Boss, cowboys and the mid-west are real." Now that made him snort.
"Do not play coy with me, human. I believed Undyne once that anime was real, and I am a wiser skeleton today by not believing everything on television. Now, where do we drop these off?" He had managed to cut off any argument you had prepared with his question.
You wouldn't let it go, but made a noise and looked around, spotting a sign on the ceiling that directed them to "Ye ol' boot fixin'" desk in the back.
Before you had a chance to say anything, Boss followed the directions on the desk. 'Ring the dinner bell for assistance', tapping the loud triangle several times as a voice in the back called out.
"Hold your horses!"
"Technically I could hold a horse, but I would much rather get my boots repaired." Boss said dryly as the cobbler walked out of the back. He only reeled slightly at the sight of a seven foot tall skeleton at his desk, wiping his worn hands on the old apron tied to his waist.
"Well, I'll be. Ain't had any of your kind come by before. So, ya'll said boot repair? Came to the right place then; names Willie." He held his hand out with a wide smile, Boss was only slightly taken aback by the gesture, meeting in the middle with a firm handshake.
"You may call me Boss. Apologies if my appearance is in any way menacing, as I cannot change that." Willie just chuckled, stopping you from interrupting any spiel your neighbor was about to go into.
"No need to apologize. Now, where's these shoes that need repairin'?"

dametagala
When I started shipping them:
2019ish. Late 2018 is when we first brought Galacta into our rps in an au where he's DMK's ex and they eventually get back together, so that's what sparked it, though it wasn't til late 2019 we started thinking about them more outside that specific au.
My thoughts:
Probably my... third? Favourite Kirby ship? Behind dametameta and morphogala lol. I've rambled a bit about them before, I love them!! They have a strong light/dark angel/devil aesthetic that's really good, and thinking of them together in relation to MK is a lot of fun lol. Like his two biggest rivals getting together and tormenting him as a team. It's also a cool dynamic if MK is involved (like a throuple) but I won't blab about that too much.
I love dametameta and morphogala and all their softness and tragedy, but its nice having a ship that's a little more, carefree I guess? That said, I am really attached to them (majorly because I have a big crush on both characters <3) and would love to do more with them, including more serious stuff.
What makes me happy about them:
This is a small thing but I had a couple OC ships with my old best friend that were like, hardcore bromance but completely sincere and gay (except she insisted all her OCs were straight because she was a bigot but whatever), and dametagala fills in that hole after she left lol.
Also; just the fact that it's probably my two biggest current character crushes in a pair together? So it's like fanservice for me all around hehe.
What makes me sad about them:
Not much I guess. When you have ships like this, the fact that they'll never interact in canon is just part of life lol, you get used to it!
Things done in fanfic that annoys me:
I've seen like 1 fanfic that had these two together, but they made Galacta a woman. That. That annoys me.
Things I look for in fanfic:
I think my partner and I's interpretation of these two (separate and as a couple) are too off from the fandom at large to expect a fanfic from anyone that would really hit the mark for me, but... I would love to see fanfic of them regardless, since it's such a rarepair, it'd just be cool to see them get some content and see what people do with them. :)
My wishlist:
Anything with them tbh LOL, but especially them just being Gay Bros, or like playfully tormenting MK together or something. Let them be a collective menace.
Who I’d be comfortable them ending up with, if not each other:
You know this answer
My happily ever after for them:
This one's a little hard I guess cuz I don't usually think of them as a couple without dametameta and morphogala also being a thing.
I like to think they'd end up with a very close bond, always being able to depend on each other to be someone they can vent to, blow some steam or get drunk with. They're both highly emotional, and with a bit of a mean steak, so there's a particular energy they share that they don't get with the other two.
I think if it was just them, they'd probably end up going on a crazy road trip or something (through space? space trip?), with Galacta drawing DMK's younger wilder self back out, and they'd have a lot of fun adventures together.

Irrational - Chapter 3: Out of this world
Third day is here, with another piece for the @spacecampweek!
This one I really liked writing, it's honestly shameless fluff and romance so I hope you like that sort of thing 😂 In these the guys are adults, Seamus got his dream job and not only that! 😉😉
EDIT: I mentioned this in the AO3 chapter, but this story was inspired by this beautiful fanart made by @pastelideas! 🥰
Enjoy!! 💙
Summary: At last, it was finally here, the moment Seamus had been waiting for. A space suit secured onto him, the vastity of the universe outside the porthole, and the love of his life by his side. At last, he was making his dream come true.
Read it on the AO3
This was the most outstanding, most unbelievable moment of his life.
Everything was perfect, exactly like he had imagined… alright, not completely, but mostly because back in high school Seamus’ biggest aspiration was making it into college and finally leave that dang house with his dang father. It hadn’t turned out the way he had expected, the nostalgia had come out of nowhere while preparing his things to move to campus, his father’s tears had been out of this world – heh, the irony of now. All things considered, it had been a while since he dreamed about this moment, between one thing and the other.
Alas, it was a beautiful as it could get. It was dark and mysterious, completely different from what he was used to on Earth, but exactly for that absolutely intriguing. It was also light, luminous, in a way it was hard to described. It was everything he could had ever hoped for. Right there, only a porthole of distance. Right there, for him.
Krel’s laugh shook him from the trance, he was holding his helmet.
“Are you okay? It looks like you are having a core-attack.” His eyes were so soft today. It was a rare sight for someone that had gone through so much, even after years. Such a beautiful sight.
“I’m fine! Just… just nervous.” More than this prince could think. Seamus took a breath, tapping onto the pockets of his suit out of stress. “This is a pretty big moment for me.” Gosh he could feel his arms shaking underneath the cloth, this was so out of the blue. He had programmed this moment for so long, of course he did, but he didn’t doubt that something could go wrong. He hoped that at least, he could enjoy some, without immediately blaming the first error on himself. It was a really bad tendency of his, that hadn’t fully left him even after finishing college.
Unnatural blue eyes came into view, along with a grin. The blonde gulped, then he smiled when the prince pressed a quick kiss on his lips, before putting his helmet.
“Come on, astronaut, you’ve been waiting for this long enough!”
“This is the first time you’re calling me astronaut for a reason.”
“You do not get to say that after getting lost into your own thoughts once again, like a human floating in zero gravity.” He walked towards the exit of the ship. Seamus felt his stomach twitching. Every moment felt like a discovery. “Ready?”
Seamus patted his pants once again.
He breathed in and out, the sound echoing into the helmet. He nodded.
The way his horizon widened towards infinity stole his breath right away. It was night. It wasn’t of course, that was all space, yet it felt like an absolute, impossibly dark night. Gorgeous stellar world, where there was no bound, the limit put by Earth itself was completely broken. His eyes were fixed over the black sea above them, he couldn’t look away. Then he caught a mountain through his eyes and followed it to the ground. It was no cheese. He knew that, he had always known. Even so, he fact that he could actually go back on Earth and state one hundred percent that it wasn’t was filling him with a strange excitement mixed with tears. It was all gray and white. It was actually here. He would have been okay at looking at this forever, just to know that he had actually made it.
He heard another giggle behind his back, a whispered “Astronaut indeed”, so he forced himself to move a step, even though he was afraid to break such magic. No gravity. He actually laughed, feeling tears coming up. Like in the books, like in the simulation he had gone through, he was moving slowly without being pushed towards the ground. It was happening. He moved a second step. The same. He decided to jump, absolutely ecstatic.
Everything was possible. The moment he was detached from the ground he truly felt like everything was possible. His stomach was almost numb he was feeling this ecstatic. Then the descent happened, and he failed to calculate the timing, slowly landing over his butt. It didn’t hurt. It felt like he was trying to reach somewhere while in water.
Oh, Krel was having a blast at this. He couldn’t hear him, but his mouth was moving, and he was holding his stomach. Any other day Seamus would have rolled his eyes, trying to call him out on something else – “What are you laughing at, it takes half the time for you to get knocked out!” –, but today wasn’t one of these days. Today his boyfriend was simply glowing, immerse into his natural element, almost one with the infinite beauty of the moon and space all around them. He had never gone back to Akiridion-5, they had never visited, it was always Aja coming for him. It was the first time seeing him like this and it was a sight.
Better not say that to him though. He was already weak for him, especially today. Seamus pointed at his ear, the prince gulped and nodded, finally activating his communicator.
The blonde grinned, despite the embarrassment.
“Having fun over there, your majesty?”
“The most I have ever had ever since I taught that one math teacher how to deal with the third dimension.” He smirked, getting closer to him. Despite the extraterrestrial appearance, he seemed to move at his same speed. “What is up with you people and your will to test me, anyway?”
“First, it’s been eight years since the Math Duel. I was a jerk, I was still under my father’s wing, and you weren’t exactly making it easier by being all snarky about your votes.” Krel huffed. Again, better not say that that day had been the dealbreaker that had made the blonde realize just how much he wanted to know him – he was trying not to choke over here. “Second, that was a university teacher, you taught a university teacher how to do their job. That’s considered a little offensive.”
“Yeah, I have noticed. Humans are sensible.” He offered him a hand, pulling him up with two. “Clumsy too, I cannot believe your first mission is retrieving a broken rover. Bunch of globers.”
Seamus snickered, eyes down, getting pulled up.
“Again, eight years. Still calling everyone humans?”
“It is more of an endearing term at this point.” Krel smirked, pulling out his serrator. It was raised, projecting a map with a special location highlighted. It was a good thing his boyfriend liked to take charge. “Come on.” No way he could ever say no.
The moon was big. Of course it was, he had exhausted all of his local library with info about it, this wasn’t nothing new to him. Expect it was. It was nothing like the tales his mom used to read him before going to bed. It wasn’t like the magazines he used to sneak in the bathroom instead of doing his father’s math homework. It wasn’t like the posters of Arcadia’s planetarium, where he had been spending most of his time as a kid, and his very first date with Krel as a guy. It wasn’t the same because this time it was real, all around him. His mind was racing, every single thought was pulsing into the middle of his brain only to leave place for another, and another, and another, making him black out for a moment. When he realized that they were still walking, as fast as they could, and he was following Krel simply by instinct, he felt everything coming back to him.
This was real. This was beautifully real.
They walked near some kind of parking lot for spaceships – he had accepted he wasn’t going to find a lifeless desert on his first mission the moment he had asked an extraterrestrial to be his boyfriend –, where Krel was lingering with the eyes a little longer than normal. Seamus managed to catch up, noticing his vague stare. The place wasn’t familiar, that insecure look of him was. He let his hand touch one of his, asking permission and getting it as they were clenched together.
“Are you okay?” The prince sighed. He knew there was no point hiding anything from him, but he seemed reluctant at getting it out. “… is this from one of your adventures?”
“It is the Hunter’s Guild lunar outpost. It used to be an extremely menacing place, but after me, Aja and Varvatos defeated the Zeron Brotherhood years ago, now only a few unthreatening subjects frequent this place. Mostly foo-foo fighters, and they are in good terms with House Taron after helping defeating Morando.” Words flew out of his mouth rapidly, like he didn’t really care about them. “… it reminds me that… I am like them. An extraterrestrial, that is.” This is what he cared about. “I belong here, I know I do, so… sometimes I can’t help but wonder if I would have made a better choice if I had gone back to Akiridion-5 with Aja.” He breathed out. He wasn’t too keen at talking out his emotions, but he always felt better afterwards. It was a him thing.
Seamus laced an arm around his shoulders, bringing him closer to him. Wearing a suit in this place was still surreal and outstanding, but he still cursed it for not being able to feel him warm against him. Being close to this person didn’t stand the confrontation with the rest of the galaxy.
“We would’ve missed you. A lot.” Krel blinked and arched an eyebrow at him. “Okay, yeah, that’s a pretty standard encouragement. I’m just saying, you went through so much and then you decided yourself what to do with your life. That’s pretty amazing.” It went unsaid that it was something the both of them hadn’t been able to have for a long time, given their fathers. “You got through high school, colleges, part-time jobs, and how about your new lab?”
He got a smile out of him. Better, better.
“Someone had to make one, to teach you humans how to actually do engineering.”
“And I know it’s gonna be good for everyone. You even got that proposal to teach at university! You’re accomplishing so much here.” He hoped he wasn’t letting himself go too much. “Aja is an amazing queen, Varvatos visits all the time, and you’re living the life you want. Isn’t this good?” He swallowed, shrugging a little. “Isn’t it good… that I am in it, too?” Again, his body was shaking. He didn’t know if it was excitement still or something else. He got Krel to laugh some more, so it had to be good.
“That was also pretty standard to say.” Maybe not. “But… also pretty good. You are good.” Maybe yes. Anything to get even a bit of his smiles, even a bit of his good moods. “I do like my life. I would not have it any other way.” If Seamus was any worried, now he was no more.
If he had any doubt, now there was no space to.
… no pun intended.
It turned out that this really was a pretty fast trip, at least judging from the map. He would have thought the location would have given him more time to enjoy the moment and the company. Again, it was to be expected something going not according to plan, it was almost a characteristic from anyone who had ever spent even a single day in Arcadia. There was no time to sulk on that, not when he was getting over rocks and dunes all over, not when the moon was there, the most vivid of his dreams and the most concrete of realities. It was getting even more vivid inside of him, to the point his mind screamed stop and his heart shouted to keep going.
“-Gaylen 1, this is Houston, come in.-”
It all came crashing down into his mind as soon as the communicator broke his thoughts. Oh no. He tried to battle the shock and went to answer. Krel was faster. Kleb.
“Drop the codename Costas, it is just us.” The prince muttered under his breath, something about why humans were so obsessed with naming and formality for something as simple as space traveling. It would have been fun in any other situation. “What is the problem?”
“-Oh! Krel!-” That man was a much more respectable person than most, but he really didn’t know how to cover himself. It made him shudder in fear. “-I, huh, I didn’t expect you’d be the one answering…-” No no, don’t make it obvious. “-… any chance I could talk alone with your boyfriend instead? It’s a pretty urgent matter that involves only, uhm, certified astronauts. I hope you understand…-” What in the world, did he learn nothing in eight years of this Akiridion?
As predicted his boyfriend frowned, clearly not liking what he had just heard. He folded the lower pair of his arms, keeping two fingers of one upper over his communicator.
“Do I understand that I am being cut off the conversation even though I was the one that built the ship in the first place? Or do I understand that you and your superiors are not out of the target, considering all the trouble you had put my family and me in the past?” There was silence on the other line. If Costas wasn’t about to ruin his perfect day Seamus would have chuckled, especially with how shamelessly this extraterrestrial was addressing the government – his boyfriend just couldn’t help getting into a fight with the system every time. “If this is about the mission, I have every right to know. Unless you are actually hiding something from me…” Abort, abort!
He could almost feel Costas’ brain struggling to find a way to come up with whatever solution to whatever problem was happening. There was some whispering in the background, a few whispered curses most likely, and Krel’s scowl wasn’t getting any less intense.
“-Uhm… the mission requires some rock samples as well.-”
Was helmet-palm a thing? Seamus felt like making it a thing. His boyfriend gaped.
“… really?”
“-Yes, yes, absolutely! We don’t have that many samples anyway, especially from this area!-” An input was sent onto the map. “-Take your time, really, enjoy the view!-”
… ah. He needed to buy some time. Great.
Seamus took a breath, feeling the echo in the helmet again, going for the communicator.
“Copy that, we’ll follow the instruction. Gaylen 1, out.” He cut the communication quickly, in order not to give Krel the possibility to pose more questions and hoping Costas wasn’t that stupid to call back to make his point even further. “Alright, it’s not far, we can make it fast!” Which was the opposite of his plan. He didn’t know how much time it was needed, but he could gain some. Picking up rocks, not the most time spending activity, but it could work.
Probably. Again, nothing was certain when you came from Arcadia.
Krel looked taken aback, it was risky giving him time to think. Luckily, his pride was already taking over his curiosity, making him pout adorably while following him. Pretending everything was fine was easier when everything felt fine with him.
“Why do I get the feeling I am solely your assistant here?”
“You said it, not me. Maybe you’re intimidated by my leadership for this mission?”
A laugh. It was a beautiful sound, on Earth as much as on the moon.
“Wow, it is your first time stumbling in space and tripping onto a no gravity surface, and you already think of yourself as the expert.” Krel grinned back, because how could he not? “You humans truly need to learn some humbleness.” Said from him, pff, what a hypocrite. And a perceptive one, he seemed to read his thoughts, giggling.
Again, the most beautiful sound.
As it turned out, there was hardly any difference from the different areas on the moon, at least for his untrained eyes. Thinking that at some point he was going to be so knowledgeable to recognize every single zone like it was his old locker from school was beyond exciting. His suit had some compartments for small rocks, it was the best he could do without having brought along actual containers – Krel was calling out the unprofessional behavior, Seamus had simply nodded along. The gathering ended pretty quickly, there was little he could think of without giving everything away, especially with his brilliant boyfriend. He almost pondered if coming clean and wait for the rest was a better idea at this point.
Then, space came to the rescue. Or rather, Earth did. The sun was coming from behind it like a sunset, radiating orange light from afar. His world looked so little, so manageable, yet so precious at the same time. Seamus was starstruck, he couldn’t move. This was going beyond what he had hoped for, this was a completely different perspective. Everything was new and exciting, everything was a new birth coming out of what he already knew.
Before he could realize it, he was sitting down, admiring the view. Before he knew, Krel was by his side, holding his arm with his head resting onto his shoulder.
It was perfect. It was unexpected, and so very perfect. Seamus smiled.
“Hey.” The prince hummed next to him. “How about we forget the assistant part, and you get to be my date? This could be a date too.” Having a date on the moon with an alien, what a concept – his six years old self would have gone mad with happiness.
Krel snickered, snuggling closer.
“I guess it is better than nothing. I reclaim the duty of being the expert though.” He could let him have this one. Just this once. “… you know, I have seen something like this before.” His voice dropped a little, more vulnerable and intimate. “It was on the way to get to the Hunter’s Guild. The travel was uneventful, and so very long. Thank Seklos we did not use Stuart’s ship for this mission.” So this was why Krel had declined for him when the durian had proposed it – he had thought he was simply afraid of the stench on the ship… well, they were not mutually exclusive. “I have never spent so much time waiting before, it was exhausting, boring and unnerving. Then, the sunset had come out.” He smiled, eyes lightening up. “It was one of the most beautiful thing I had ever seen. It made me forget how wrong everything was in my life, even for just a moment.” Their fingers intertwined.
Again, Seamus cursed his suit. He wanted to be much closer to him, he always did.
“Space is pretty great, huh?”
“It was not space. I have been travelling through planets before that time, it is not that big of a deal for me anymore.” Krel pointed at that planet, theirplanet, that was slowly revealing its shining star. “It was Earth. Raw, dirty, unexpected, unbelievable Earth. It was the moment I had first thought that despite being a dumb heap, there was just something about it.” He laughed a little, sighing happily. “I believe it was the time I had first fell in love with this planet.”
His voice. His words. His posture. His eyes. Everything, everything about Krel right now was unparalleled, vivid. Him, so absolutely, outstandingly him.
Seamus had to swallow, to not let his voice crack.
“I came second then? Too late, that’s kind of a bummer.”
“You soolian.” He took his hand, pressing it against his glowing cheek. Again the dang suit. The intention alone though, it was enough to make Seamus feel warm. “One of the main reasons why I love Earth, is because it’s the reason why I met you. You were just in time.”
This was right. This was absolutely right.
At the end it was less a matter of letting as much time pass as possible and more the fact that neither of them wanted to move away, not even after the sunset had occurred. At some point the goal area was highlighted over the map again, making them remember that they were currently in space for a certain mission right now. The walk was mostly silent, Krel was really focused whenever he wanted to finish something important. Even so, Seamus couldn’t even think about the quietness, not with all the thoughts going around in his head. They were getting there, it was happening.
His breath almost stopped when Krel did, deactivating the map and looking around. He was frowning, turning over and over to have a clear view of his surroundings.
“What… where is the rover? I do not see it?”
Seamus swallowed. Nothing was around. Come on Costas, did he really need more time??
“Huh, are you sure? Maybe it’s behind some rock?”
“It’s a rover, it is not little! And we are in the middle of a monochromatic land, I believe I would notice something this distinct.” The prince walked around, two hands over his waist. “Did Costas give us the right coordinates? If he dares make such a mistake after pushing me aside during the mission I… huh?” A good sound. A very good sound. Soon the very distinct noise of wheels manifested, and a very little device arrived. It was done. “… this is no rover, and in no way broken.” Krel leaned down to have a look. Seamus did the same, but not to check. “Wait a sekton, this is not even terrestrial! What is going on?” When he touched the top of the device, something opened revealing the inside. A little box. “What? Seamus, what is…?”
Krel turned. He had to look down to find him, because while distracted the blonde had found the time to get on his knee, even without gravity. The way his face changed, from confused, to shocked, to understanding and then absolutely amazed, his hand covering his mouth, found his way into his heart for a memory that was going to last forever.
Like now, right now. This was the right moment after all. Seamus smiled.
“Sorry I tricked you, although it wasn’t completely a lie. My first mission is actually only exploratory, and I’m still having an absolute blast.” He really wished he didn’t have the helmet on right now, just to take in all of the view. Of this place. Of him. “When I was little, going to space was the biggest dream of my life, the reason why I put up with so much. Then, in high school, you came along, and turned into just another dream of mine. I couldn’t help myself wanting to turn the both of them true, in the same place, you know I’m an overachiever.” The prince wasn’t moving, his eyes were getting lucid and if it wasn’t the most amazing view in the entire universe. Seamus took a breather, stood up, and went over the little machine.
The Akiridion engineers had done a pretty good job, the device was clean and had conserved the box perfectly. Aja had gone crazy after he had told him what he wanted to do – her hugs were closer to chockers at this point. He got the box, turned around, to find his boyfriend in the same position, shaking completely.
“S-Seamus…” The blonde smiled, kneeling again. He opened the box. It was a simple ring, silver like the color of his perfectly polished inventions, an azure gem as the color of his eyes.
Sharp, to the point, like him. Beautifully him.
“I love you, so much. You made me stand up against my dad, you made me go beyond how my mom left, you always encouraged me to do what I wanted to do. You were there through everything, my best and my worst, and you’re still here now that I’m at this point. You made me a better person.” He took a deep breath, looking down just for a moment, to hold onto this second a little longer. “You are the smartest person I know, and at the same time the most caring of all. I wanna take care of you the way you always did with me, officially.” He swallowed, and finally looked up, struck by the beauty in front of him. “Krel Tarron, will you marry me?”
Words came out. At last, it was real.
Krel was completely unmoving, stuck in his position. It was a long, terrifying minute, one that still didn’t make Seamus doubt, not this time, not when he could feel the two of them this connected. Right after tears were born onto the prince’s eyes, not flowing down because of the lack of gravity, stuck onto his cheeks and floating into space. Creating stars of his own.
“Y-you gloober… y-you absolute soolian of a human…” He rubbed his eyes, almost angrily, but his grin was so wide it came out from behind his hands. “H-how am I supposed to kiss you now when you cannot take off your suit??”
Seamus laughed, standing up, feeling his own eyes pinching as well.
“Is it a yes?” Krel looked at him, his lips trembling. Then he reached out for him, fighting the gravity in order to launch himself between his arms.
“It’s a yes.”

Trouble In Paradise (Literally)
AN:
Last hurrah y’all. Thank you for reading.<3
Chapter 5: Interview with the CEO
"Are you sure you wanna do this alone?" Maggie asked, concern lacing her voice.
"Yeah." Kara nodded. "I don't want her to feel attacked. And besides, this is also work stuff."
It had just been a few days since their realization of Lena having been brainwashed when Kara just received her first assignment since the time she had returned to CatCo. It seemed like luck was on her side when she found out that she was bound to have an interview with L-Corp's CEO, which also just so happened to be no other than Lena Luthor herself.
"Never mix work with personal life, Kara." Maggie reminded her.
"I know, Mags." Kara gave the shorter woman a reassuring smile and pulled her in for a hug. "I'm gonna go now. Don't wanna be late for my first assignment or else Snapper's gonna have my head."
"Oh, no. We can't have that, can we?" Maggie quipped and was followed with a chuckle which Kara joined in.
"No, we can't."
Letting go of the shorter woman, Kara fixed her bag and headed for the door.
"Bye, Mags! See you later and, please. No funny business with my sister, no sex on the couch, and most especially on our bed." Kara said in a playful manner and she heard Maggie saying "asshole" before she had finally closed the door with a laugh and left the house.
However, all the playfulness in her was immediately drained and was replaced with dread and worry when she arrived at the towering building of L-Corp. Just by thinking of Lena being at the very top of the building makes her want to just turn around and bail and make an excuse as to why she wasn't able to come even if she will have to face Snapper's wrath.
No, I am so not gonna chicken out. Don't be a coward, Kara. She scolded herself internally. Steeling her resolve, she finally stepped inside the building and, eventually, on its elevators up to the CEO's office.
"Oh, God. What am I even going to say to her?" She mused out loud as she heaved a sigh. All the scenarios of meeting Lena that she had practiced in her room had seemingly been forgotten when the familiar ding of the elevator was heard.
"Now or never." Kara mumbled as she stepped out and walked towards a desk which she just assumed to be Lena's secretary's desk.
"Good morning." The secretary greeted her. "How may I help you?"
"Y-yeah, hi. I'm here to interview Le- Uhh... I mean, Miss Luthor." Kara internally kicked herself for stammering this much, but can you blame her? She's nervous as hell.
"Do you have an appointment?" The secretary asked and she nodded.
"I- umm... Yes. I'm Kara Danvers." The blonde pushed her glasses up her nose. "I'm with CatCo."
"I see. Well, you're just in time, Miss Danvers." The secretary stood from her seat. "Please, follow me. Miss Luthor has been expecting you."
"Oh. Okay..." Kara breathed out and quietly followed the secretary inside Lena's office.
She barely had time to appreciate the simple yet very attractive and spacious office of the young CEO when the secretary had addressed the woman she had longed and, at the same time, dreaded to see.
"Miss Luthor, Miss Danvers is here for your interview with CatCo."
"Thank you, Jess. I'm ready whenever you are, Miss-" A shattered glass was heard as Lena dropped the one she was holding in shock as soon as she lifted her gaze up from her phone.
"Miss Luthor, are you alright?" The secretary, Jess, asked with full of concern.
"Y-yes. I'm fine." Lena stuttered as she draw in a deep breath. "Leave us, Jess. Just send someone after my interview with Miss Zo-"
"Danvers." Kara immediately interjected which came out as a soft squeak as she was trying hard to stop herself from shaking.
"Right." Lena nodded to Jess and Jess nodded back as she left the brunette's office.
"Let's get this over with." Lena dryly stated as she stood up and walked towards her office couch. "Sit."
Kara complied obediently and sat at the opposite side of the couch as soon as Lena had settled down. Just as she was instructed, she ran over the set of questions that was given to her and to her relief- sort of- Lena answered her questions with all honesty.
"Can I ask you something personal?" Kara dared to ask. "It's fine if you don't-"
"Ask." Lena interjected. "I have some questions of my own as well."
"Really?" Kara asked again with utter disbelief. Just like that?
"Was that your question?" Lena asked back with a perfectly shaped brow raised.
"N-no."
"Then stop wasting time and ask whatever it is that you want to ask." Lena snapped which made the blonde wince.
"O-okay." Kara uttered quietly and she cleared her throat. "What did they do to you the day that they shipped you back here? The facility..."
Lena's lips curled into a menacing smile. "Opening my eyes and letting me see through all your lies. That's what they did."
Kara's brow furrowed in confusion. "Lies? Lee, I never lied to you."
"Don't call me that, Kara." Lena berated the blonde. "My turn. You swore you would find me. Why did you break that promise?"
"I-"
"They told me that you really had no intention of finding me. That you were to be released the next day after I left. You knew that I held on to that promise of yours."
"What?!" Kara exclaimed incredulously. "That's definitely not true, Lena. Remember what they do? They brainwash people and they did it to you as well."
Lena rolled her eyes. "Oh, cut the bullshit, Kara, and don't pull that stunt over me. They told that that's exactly what you're going to say."
"And you believed them? Look... the night after you left, we, Maggie and I, were bound to escape that goddamn island but they did something to me." Kara explained, hoping that Lena would hear her.
"And you expect me to believe that?" Lena laughed humorlessly as she shook her head. "You see, they also warned me that you will do this. The whole explaining thing and trying to make me believe everything you're saying and about to say. I just didn't expect that you would show up after a year."
"It took me that long because I was afraid!" Kara threw her hands up in exasperation. "And for the record? We got to escape that island two weeks after you left. They sedated me that long and I was bound to be shipped the next day after."
Kara saw how Lena clenched and unclench her jaw. She knows Lena was beyond angry at her and more than that, she could see the hurt evident on the brunette's enticing emerald eyes. "Alright, I'll humor you. If what you're saying is true, it still doesn't change the fact that you didn't find me."
"Again, I was afraid, okay?! And I was hurt..."
"You were hurt?" The young CEO scoffed. "That's rich coming from you."
"Says the one who was going around and kissing someone after a couple of weeks." Kara unintentionally spat out of bitterness. "Live on television, if I may add."
"Why should I wait for someone who wouldn't even love me back?!" This time, Lena stood as well as she was unable to keep her voice in a reasonable volume.
Kara took a few steps closer to the brunette. "Who says I wouldn't?"
"They did!" Lena moved slowly moved to the blonde as well.
"But I do!" Kara yelled as they were standing in front of each other.
"Don't lie! Stop lying!" Lena shoved Kara but the blonde didn't budge.
"For God's sake, Lena, I'm not lying!"
"Yes, you are!"
"I'm not!"
"Liar!"
"Lena, please..." Kara pleaded. She didn't come here to have a shouting match with Lena.
"I never should've trusted you." Lena's voice dropped as well as it shook slightly and Kara could see her eyes getting watery. She's not a fan of hating stuffs but seeing Lena cry was something that she makes an exception and one that she really hates seeing. "It was wrong for me to trust you. You're nothing but someone who's full of lies and-"
Lena was cut off when Kara smashed her lips onto the brunette's. It was quite painful, given that her teeth somehow collided with her lips and it was hard for her because Lena was pushing her away but, like when she was getting shoved by the brunette, she didn't budge. She, instead, deepened the kiss and just a few seconds later, Lena gave in and kissed Kara hard.
Kara couldn't help but feel triumphant as she felt Lena's lips move in sync with hers. The blonde then parted her lips as she let out a gasp when Lena bit her lower lip and the brunette's tongue invaded hers. Though it did hurt, Kara didn't mind as long as Lena wasn't pushing her away.
This continued on for another good minute when the need of air was badly needed. Kara reluctantly pulled away as she gasped for breath and she saw how hard Lena was also panting.
"First, you break your promise and now you play with my feelings?" Lena whispered as she leaned her forehead against Kara's and it broke the blonde's heart to see Lena crying. "Just how cruel can you be?"
It was now Kara's turn to wipe Lena's tears and she then wrapped her arms around the brunette's waist tightly. "Lee, I'm not playing with your feelings. I never had and I never would."
"How can I possibly trust you?"
"I guess..." Kara unwrapped one of her arms and fished something out of her pocket. "... you just have to have faith."
Lena's eyes widened in surprise as she saw what Kara had just pulled out. "You... you kept that?"
"Of course." Kara laughed lightly, looking at the stone that Lena once gave her. "I promised, remember? Sorry if I was extremely late."
"But... they they told me-"
Kara's expression darkened as she cut Lena off. "They were all lies. I could never do that to you so please, believe me when I say that I..."
"You...?" Lena asked expectantly.
Kara took a deep breath before looking at Lena directly in her eyes. "I love you and I really, really missed you... like really missed you."
Lena sniffed and she managed to let out a small chuckle. "As much as I hate to admit it, even though they had made me believe the lies they told me, I never really stopped loving you... and I missed you, too. Wait... how come your last name became Danvers?"
"Because the Danvers were my adoptive family." Kara answered. "Besides, if I used my biological family's last name, would you have agreed for an interview with me?"
"Probably not." Lena mumbled sheepishly.
"Exactly. And why are you with that guy?" Kara asked with a frown, now that things have started to mellow down between them, jealousy was settling within her.
"Jack?" The corner of Lena's lips quirked up in the slightest bit when Kara nodded. "Oh, darling, it was all just for a show."
"It... was?"
"Mhm." Lena hummed. "It was just a front to get my mother off my back but in reality, Jack and I are just very good friends and we go way back in college."
"Oh..." Was just what Kara breathed out as she was at a loss for words. Was she just jealous for a year over nothing?
"You know, you never change."
"How so?"
"You still have that look whenever you're jealous of something or someone." Lena pointed out.
"I do not." Kara denied.
"And you're still in denial." Lena was now grinning and it made Kara's heart thump.
Kara rolled her eyes. "Shut up."
"Make me." Lena challenged her.
The blonde's eyes flashed with mischief as she smirked. "Gladly."
**
"Okay, so let me get this straight, though, ironically, no one in this room is." Maggie held out a hand to signal Kara to stop talking and the blonde closed her mouth obediently. "You interviewed Lena and it went well?"
Kara nodded. Maggie and Kara were currently lounging at the living room when the former asked for the complete details of the blonde's interview with the young CEO and the latter just finished retelling what really happened.
"Then you just have to go and be unprofessional which had you and her screaming in both anger and frustration?"
Kara nodded again.
"After that, you kissed and you made her realize that she had been brainwashed then she told you that her relationship was fake and you both fucked in her office?"
Kara's face turned red in an instant due to embarrassment as she started to stammer. "I wouldn't say that we... that w-we... uhh..."
"Fucked?" Maggie helpfully suggested which Kara grimaced but still nodded to.
"Yeah... That."
"Kara-"
"Maggie!" Kara cut the shorter woman off. "For the love of God, stop talking about that anymore."
"Hey, you two." Alex greeted as she entered the house. "What did I miss?"
"Oh, nothing." Maggie tilted her head up as Alex walked towards her and planted a soft and sweet but quick kiss on her lips. "Just a little Karadventure to a certain CEO whose a brunette with green eyes."
"You met with Lena Luthor?" Kara could tell that Alex's interest were piqued when her older sister turned to her with that scrutinizing look.
Oh, God. I never should have let her and Maggie meet. She internally groaned but, of course, she didn't mean that. She was genuinely happy for the two and was glad that something good came out despite everything Maggie (and her) went through.
Realizing that she haven't answered her sister's question yet, she shook herself out of her thoughts as she cleared throat. "Yeah, I did. Snapper gave me the assignment of interviewing her."
"But she did more than just interview." Maggie whispered to Alex conspiratorially but it was loud enough to reach Kara's ears and make the blonde all flustered again. "And here she goes warning us to not do the deed on the couch while she's out there doing it on a desk."
"Maggie! We did not do it on the desk! Well, I mean, at first we did. Then we transferred on the couch!" Kara chastised the shorter woman which just made the latter laugh.
"Okay, that is way too much information." Alex uncomfortably said, her face slightly burning up. "I don't need the mental image of my younger sister doing that stuff."
Maggie shrugged nonchalantly and just grinned at the two.
"Oh, right, I forgot!" Kara exclaimed as she remembered something. "Lena and I are gonna grab dinner this weekend and she wanted you to come with me, Mags."
"Oh..." Maggie's smile slowly dropped and she slightly frowned. Kara didn't need to ask. She knew exactly why.
"Lena feels bad, Mags. She wants to apologize to you in person."
"You should go." Alex encouraged her girlfriend. "It's not like she's entirely at fault given that she, like what you two have said, was brainwashed."
"I know. It's just-" Maggie let out a sigh. "I mean, I was just hurt by the way she treated me. But, alright. I'll come with you. For old time's sake."
"And that is more than enough." Kara smiled softly at the shorter woman and she gave Maggie a side hug.
**
Days had gone by in a blur and the weekend did came. Kara and Maggie arrived at an Italian restaurant where Lena had agreed to meet and had told the blonde that she had already reserved a table for them. They just got in when a maitre d' approached them.
"Good evening, ma'am." He greeted them with a smile. "Do you have a reservation?"
"Uhh, hi." Kara greeted back awkwardly and nodded. "Yes... I think?"
"Under what name, ma'am?" The maitre d' politely asked again.
"It should be under the name of Lena Luthor?" Kara answered, quite unsure.
"Ah, yes. Please, follow me. Miss Luthor has been expecting you two." He turned on his heels and beckoned for them to follow him. They did so and it wasn't long when they saw the very familiar green eyed brunette, face scrunched up in concentration as she was typing furiously on her phone.
"Excuse me, Miss Luthor." The maitre d' called out to Lena's attention and the brunette looked up from her phone.
"Kara, hi." Lena immediately stood from her seat then made her way towards the blonde and pulled Kara for a hug.
"I'll be taking my leave, madames, and return with the menu." The maitre d' said as he dismissed himself and left the trio alone.
Lena's gaze then turned towards the shorter woman as soon as she had let go of the blonde and a flash of worry crossed her face.
"Hi, Maggie..." The brunette greeted timidly, voice just barely above whisper.
"Hi." The shorter woman greeted back in the same manner then an awkward silence settled between the three.
Kara's gaze flitted back and forth towards Maggie and Lena. She was quite unsure what to say at this situation. She wracked her brain up in hopes of trying to find a way to lighten things up. A joke perhaps?
Luckily, Lena saved her the trouble of trying to make a conversation when the brunette cleared her throat. "Shall we take a seat?"
"Of course!" Kara's voice had been a bit too high for her liking and she internally grimaced. The two seemed to have paid no mind for they just sat silently (again) on their selected seats and Kara shuffled on her feet as she followed to sit as well.
There was another stretch of silence again but it was only for a bit when Lena spoke again.
"Maggie, I'm really sorry about everything that I've said that day." Kara could feel the sincerity in Lena's voice. She knew that Lena loves Maggie just as much. It was just that goddamn facility that made her doubt things and everything about them.
Maggie pursed her lips as she mulled over what to say and Kara was starting to get slightly anxious as to what Maggie's response would be.
The shorter woman then heaved a deep sigh as she looked at the brunette. "You know, when you said that you wanted us to stay away from you had stung."
Kara could sense that there was a but coming and she thinks Lena does too for the brunette didn't speak even though she looked like there were still things that she had wanted to say.
"But what really hurt me the most was when you accused me of something that I'm not." Maggie continued. "First off, I wasn't using you to get information. Secondly, everything that I have shown you was genuine. And lastly, I'm not a liar. I don't think that I've lied to you, like, ever."
Lena wasn't able to look directly at Maggie so she just locked her gaze at the table as she quietly said, "I know..."
"Just..." Maggie paused for a second to take a calming breath then proceeded. "Just tell us what really happened. We, at least, deserve some sort of explanation, don't we?"
Lena immediately looked up. "Of course, you do. That's why I asked both of you here."
"I thought this was originally intended to be a date?" Maggie slightly cocked her head with her brows furrowed.
"I'm sorry, what?" Lena asked as well, mirroring Maggie's confusion.
"You and Kara?"
"Oh!" Lena exclaimed in realization. "No! No, of course not."
"Umm..." Kara voiced out, still unsure what to say.
Lena turned to her and gently grabbed her hand. "Not that I wouldn't want to date you, darling, because I assure you that I would."
"It's not- uhh... I'm- I-I mean..." Kara spluttered as she blushed furiously at this simple gesture and the maitre d', bless him, interrupted them, drawing the trio's attention.
"Excuse me, madames. Here's the menu."
Lena waved the offered menus off. "Actually, could you serve us the best dish that this place offers? As well as the best wine that you have."
The maitre d' nodded. "Absolutely. Drinks will be served right away, ma'am."
"Thank you."
He then turned his back again and dismissed himself.
"So..." Lena cleared her throat, causing for Maggie and Kara to look at her. "The night that I was destined to be brought back here was also the night that I finally snapped."
"What do you mean?" Maggie asked. Both her and Kara are getting even more confused by this.
"They had been feeding my insecurities and all since the very beginning. That was what my "therapy" was and it didn't really help when they've been saying a bunch of crap about you two. Saying that you two were just using me... Manipulating me. I didn't believe them at first but, as they did it again and again, I started to believe each and every lies that they have fed me." Lena confessed. "They didn't really return me to my family that night. Not right away, I mean. They did bring me back to my old house and they were there with me for a couple more weeks.
"There they continued to poison my mind and they, eventually and seemingly satisfied with their work, left but not before calling my mother." Lena spat the last word with venom and Kara was about to ask her about it when Maggie shot her a look so she just kept her mouth shut.
"I didn't stay with her, of course. After everything, I still didn't want to be anywhere near her so, I packed up, left, and returned to my own penthouse." Lena continued. "She just wanted to take control of my life again and wanted me to find a someone who would fit her taste and wouldn't stop pestering me about it and that's where Jack had entered the picture. He helped me get my mother off my back and when she did, we waited for a few days then called off our fake relationship. After everything, I still thought of the two of you. I swore I'd never lose hope but after half a year of waiting, I guess that hope just slowly turned into anger."
The wine Lena ordered arrived just in time she had finished retelling everything that had happened to her. She gave the server a small smile and thanked him before he proceeded to attend other customers.
"I'm sorry." Maggie uttered softly.
"It's fine." Lena waved her hand dismissively. "It wasn't your fault anyway."
"Partly our fault." Kara quietly interjected.
"True." Maggie agreed and Lena chuckled softly as she shook her head.
"Come on. Just let me feel bad about this."
"Suit yourself, Luthor." Maggie quipped, her lips were tugged at the corner as she gave the brunette a shrug and the three of them laughed.
"One last question though." The shorter woman gave Lena a quizzical look which made the brunette chuckle.
"Out with it, Sawyer."
"How did you snap out of your brainwashed state so quickly?"
A smile slowly formed on Lena's lips. "I may have thought just about everything. A year is quite a long time to be spent for thinking, you know. Kara just... enlightened some spots that I was unsure of."
"Fucking genius." Maggie mumbled which made her companions laugh.
"Oh, I have been wondering. What happened to you two when you escaped that place?" Lena asked as she took a sip of her wine.
"Well..." Kara glanced at Maggie as she chuckled nervously. "A lot has happened, really. Maggie finally got away from her parents and I... got in a slight problem with Mike and my aunt."
"By slight, she meant almost got dragged away from her foster family again and got her ass almost shipped back to the facility." Maggie elaborated which made Kara wince. "She's just sugarcoating her words."
"Maggie!" Kara exclaimed and she looked at Lena, whose expression had darkened, warily.
"You don't have to worry though. They're ought to stay away from Kara if they know what's best for them." Maggie reassured the brunette.
Lena arched her brow and looked at Kara as if she was silently asking the blonde what the shorter woman had meant and Kara, thank heavens that her density didn't act up, had immediately answered.
"Maggie may or may not have threatened to arrest them for invading my privacy, for harassment, and for abduction."
"You damn right I would." Maggie proudly stated. "You should've seen their faces."
"Priceless, I presume?" The brunette asked in amusement.
Maggie snorted. "You bet it was."
Lena was about to retort when a loud rumble was heard and both her and Maggie turned their heads towards a blushing Kara.
"Oops." Kara scratched her nape and chuckled, clearly embarrassed. "I guess all this talk and the waft of the delicious smelling food had made me hungry."
"Oh, darling. You're always hungry." Lena pointed out.
"Day in and day out." Maggie added and both her and Lena had bursted out laughing. Kara joined them in as well and they shifted into a much lighter topic as the night went on.
**
They went on with their lives normally and sure did they missed the "normal" life where they weren't running, hiding, or trying to escape from anything or anyone anymore. It might have just been months when they were held captive but it had already been a long time for the three.
Then next thing they've heard was that the facility had shut down due to a leak of information that contained every crooked ways that they did and have done. Residents were freed. Attendants were arrested, save from Winn, much to their relief, who turned out that he had already resigned a month prior from the facility fiasco and who also turned out to be the leak. Reign was nowhere to be found which gave an extreme discomfort to the three but Maggie pointed out that as long as the facility was no more, there was nothing that they should be worried about anymore.
"She would be stupid enough to create another facility while she had a bounty on her head." Maggie had said. Kara was aware that it was meant to be a joke but she knew that Maggie was also serious about it.
Everything went smoothly afterwards and before they knew it, it was already the most wonderful time of the year (according to a certain song and a certain blonde). Kara and Lena, both taking a break from their respective jobs, were taking a stroll in the local park when she shivered due to the cold breeze that blew past them.
"My hands are cold." Kara whined and Lena just silently held her hand, entwining their fingers as they continued to stroll at the park.
Kara was silent for a moment as she stared at their joined hands before she spoke again. "... And my lips are freezing."
Lena chuckled in amusement as she faced the blonde. "You know, if you wanted a kiss you could've just said so, you dork."
Kara gave the brunette a nonchalant shrug and a goofy smile which made Lena laugh.
"I love you." Kara murmured.
"Come here you." Lena pulled Kara in as she cupped one of the blonde's cheeks and before the brunette closed the gap between their lips, she softly uttered. "I love you, too."
Lena finally closed the gap and softly planted a kiss on Kara's lips. The blonde gave out a satisfied hum as she kissed Lena back.
Kara was contented with this. With everything she currently have. She was contented with her job, got her freedom and family back, gained the most loyal friends she thought she'd never have... and she had Lena. The one who never failed to make her feel giddy and nervous and loved and Kara couldn't ask for anything more.
Lena then pulled away and pecked Kara on the tip of her nose which made her blush and smile widely.
Yup. Kara was- and is- definitely and beyond contented.

Glee Memories
Someone reblogged an old post to which I had contributed this run-down of my entire Glee fan experience. It made me laugh to read it, because I cannot deny ANY of the reactions even now. This is truly what it was like to watch the show in original air date Fox TV real time - endless mid-season hiatuses and all. Reposting just my own section:
Season 1 - SO good and fun! I want to see more of this!  Kurt, I love you. You’re so funny and I especially loved the second half of the season when you started singing solos and being a Cheerio!  Even the characters I didn’t really embrace I still want to learn more about. And the songs, and the hope for next year’s competitions…  Damn you, summer hiatus!
Season 2 - OMG, not as fresh as last year but still some amazing stuff!  Burt and Carole are cute together, though a little oblivious. Why didn’t we ever get any blended Hudmel family scenes?  Especially at Christmas.  *pout* Didn’t care for Kurt being basically sidelined at Dalton Academy for half the season, and his crush is kind of an oblivious jerk, but I have hope. Things much better by the end with Kurt back at McK and no joy to the bullies. Can’t quite make up my mind if I want to forgive Karofsky. He was awful, but also terrified. I’ll make up my mind next year. Aw, Jean Sylvester has died, I liked her.  Finn, a funeral should not inspire you to dump one girl and chase another. You big drip. Too bad about Nationals, but it’s okay that they didn’t go straight to the top. More reason to put out all the stops next year!  I liked this season a lot overall. Damn you, summer hiatus!
Season 3 - What the fuck has happened to this show? Blaine transfers in, acts like a dick, steals opportunities and insults people, but by the end every single character is completely up his ass. Wha-?  Wait, are Finchel a couple again for the 4,869th time, or are they broken up again?  I can’t keep up.  Am I really supposed to care about the suddenly evil Warblers and their smirking meerkat boss? Cause I don’t.  Warbler Council I miss you.  Shue, you’re horrible, get off my screen. Sue, go with him, you’re not funny anymore. Kurt ends up stuck in Lima with no prospects, while Rachel of the world’s worst audition gets his spot at the fancy performing arts school? What the hell!  And what do you mean, he only applied to ONE school, that makes no sense given his historic ambition to escape Lima, and determination to help Finn get out too. Someone at NYADA is a lazy bastard who couldn’t be bothered to send out the acceptance letters until JUNE, so most of their prospectives have probably accepted other offers by now.  This entire season made no sense and left a bad taste in my mouth. Thank God for summer hiatus!
Season 4 - Better in some respects. Really stupid in others. Kurt does an amazing audition and gets a second chance (that he should have had the first time) to get into his school.  I’ll take it.  Blaine, you’re a lying, cheating, selfish sack of shit and I’ve given up hoping you’ll ever improve. Just go away and stop horning in where you don’t belong. Adam Crawford, you’re a cinnamon roll too good for this world, but no way too good for Kurt. :)  I’m not usually a shipper, but you’re forcing me to ship hard.  New Glee Club, your boring clone selves need to step it up and show some originality if you want anyone to like you. Uh, wow, did that nasty Cheerio girl really try to kill the other girl by making her anorexic and totally get away with that with no consequences? Epic fail. Shue, you’re revolting. Oh, Unique. I like you, but why did you leave a star position at Carmel only to be meek about being shoved into the background at McKinley?  Really thought Blaine might get offed in that stink-bomb of a school shooting episode. It would have had emotional resonance for others and retired that character with a shred of dignity. Wasn’t that the point of having people declare Blaine teen angel/Jesus-standin for half the season? But no. Nothing happens and they chuck Becky-used to be cool but now is just super annoying-Jackson under the bus instead. (Also, why did nobody on the New York side even seem to know this headline-making event even happened?) Rachel, taking insensitivity and selfishness to new heights in New York. Why is Kurt suddenly your care-taker and general servant? Blech. Sarah Jessica Parker, completely wasted from great starting potential. Did Sam’s brain fall out in the deep end of the swimming pool and float away? Cause, whoa. Finn? Finn! Pay attention, dude. Cut your losses and go to your classes at Ohio state (or wherever). Burt, thank you for squashing that stupid proposal idea. But where is Adam?  Come back, adorable little cupcake!  Summer hiatus, thank you, I need a break but kinda like where everyone finally ended at the last of this year. This has definite potential.
Season 5 - Dead Finn = sadness. I kind of wish they had just retired him to off screen college somewhere. Wait, what?  God Damn It Writers! You can’t just transplant Finchel’s planned storyline to a totally different couple and expect it to make perfect sense, especially with no work or real character improvement to the horrible hair-gelled menace!  Copy glee club remains boring, and I don’t give a rat’s ass about their wash-rinse-repeat romances or lifeless competition performances. What the heck has happened to the timeline of this show?  Where did Adam go? Oh hey, it’s Demi Lovato and Adam Lambert!  Aww, I really like Elliott. It’s about time Kurt got a genuine friend. Rachel, just go away. I can’t deal with you anymore. Burt has been replaced by a pod-person. Creepy puppets more lifelike than most of their human counterparts by now. One Three Hill, I love you!  But I can already see that this is another great start with soon to be wasted potential when the contracts run out.  Damn it, writers! Don’t put Blaine in NYADA, that makes no sense at all.  If this school was as particular as you claimed, he wouldn’t have even made it to the audition round. Combat Jocks are all hot for Kurt, YESSSS!  Santana, I’ve never liked you because you’re horrid to everyone but you’re finally starting to grow on me a little. Aw, Chris Colfer’s episode plays like old time Glee!  Fun. More, please. Shirley MacLaine gives me the creeps as the old cougar lady. And we’re taking an early hiatus after shedding viewers like snake-skin all season. Can’t say I’m not relieved. I’m determined to see this show through, but my god…
Season 6 - Only a dozen episodes this year? I can make it.  Ooo, Kurt dumped the albatross and sent him packing. That’s promising.  Rachel’s ego blew up in her face and she’s back in Ohio. Even more promising.  New New Directions, I surprisingly actually like you guys a little, though I liked One Three Hill much better. (And the Apples, whatever happened to those folks?) This could actually end with a bang instead of a whimper!  Aaand, I spoke too soon. Kurt get your cute butt out of Ohio, you can do so much better in New York, preferably single and dating new appreciative men!  Whoa, Sue is full on demented and dangerous this year. Why is she still in a teaching position again? Shue, you’re useless. Get off my screen. Santana previous potential goes right to hell in one fell swoop. Nice briefly knowing you, emotional development. Kurt, I’m serious, go back to NYADA and find whatever locker you left your spine in please. DO NOT take that asshat back for the 8,937th time, please!  He’s not worth it.  You … what …?  Oh my God, he did it, and fucking Dave Karofsky actually helped them along.  *beats head on wall*  No, please tell me everyone isn’t about to bend over backwards to put Rachel back on top of the heap again!  *sigh* That’s it. I’m done. 7 episodes left of this series and I just can’t take it anymore.  The writers-room monkeys have mixed pieces from 10 different puzzles, mashed them into a frame with a mallet, eaten the finished product, shit it into their hands, and tossed it at the few remaining fans still watching through the bars.
And that’s what you (lucky souls) missed on Glee!

of great use
part two
Ship: Wessa
Prompt: Tessa is pregnant with her third child. As Belial’s threat grows closer to home, the Herondales face the unthinkable.
for @lucieblckthorn || this took a bit of a slightly different turn than I originally expected but I hope you still like it <3
Belial... use me... walk the earth...
Needs his own bloodline...
Go after Lucie if I don’t...
Tessa stared in horror at her son, his words echoing in her mind. Will exploded after James finished speaking. “Damn him!” He stood, breathing heavily, staring at his children. Lucie looked like she would be sick.
“I’m sorry I didn’t tell you all earlier. I just—” James looked more vulnerable than he had in years, Tessa noticed. How could she not have seen it? Her own boy? “I thought I could handle it. I thought I could protect you.”
“We are a family,” Tessa told him. “We protect each other. This is not a burden you should bear alone, Jamie.”
“He said he needed one of your children,” James said, greatly upset. “That your Clockwork Angel still protects you, but not your children. I—I told him no. But I’m afraid he will go after Lucie.”
“I will never let him,” Lucie demanded surely.
Will and Tessa exchanged heavy looks. James sucked in a breath. “Mam? Papa?”
They looked at their son. Will swiftly walked around the desk and embraced both James and Lucie tightly. “We believe you, both of you. You will make the right choice. But the both of you are capable of making choices and defending yourselves. Your sibling is not.”
James and Lucie stared wide-eyed at their father, before looking to Tessa. Tessa stood and approached her children. She cupped both their faces in her hands and remembered when they were just tiny little menaces running throughout the Institute, only to be reprimanded by a ghost she couldn’t see, but they could.
“James, Lucie, I am pregnant. You have another sibling coming.”
This was supposed to be a happy family moment, like Cecily and Gabriel had when they learned they were expecting Alexander. But instead, the Herondale family stood in intense fear of what was to come.
Lucie, who in any other circumstance would have been thrilled to be an older sister, gazed sadly at Tessa. “Oh, Mam...” ...
Belial grinned viciously at them, though his face was marred by James’ features. Will kneeled beside his daughter, unconscious in his arms, pale, with a sickly purple and blue band appearing across her throat. “It is too bad dear Lucie was so unwilling to cooperate. A wasted potential, really,” said the demon wearing his son’s face.
Will, grief-stricken and angry, glared daggers at Belial. “Get out of my son.”
The demon shrugged, adjusting the braces James was wearing. “Such odd style you Shadowhunters wear these days.” Will desperately drew iratzes along Lucie’s arm and throat, praying for signs of life. “I suppose I could honor your request. James here is quite a hostile host. I shall simply need to find another.”
“Then you shall be thoroughly disappointed,” Will growled. Belial only smiled. It sickened Will to see such an evil look on his son’s face—but he knew it was not his son.
“Isn’t there? Tell me, William, where is my daughter? I should surely love to pay a visit to my next grandchild.”
Will’s blood ran cold. Lucie had not woken, though the iratzes had begun to diminish the appearance of her bruising. He stared into the eyes of that should have been James’s. Before he would speak, Tessa’s voice rose behind him. “I am right here.”
Will head snapped toward the stairs of the Institute, where Tessa stood. She was dressed in gear, an empty expression on her face that faltered slightly when her eyes found Lucie. She looked back at Belial. “Leave my children out of this, Belial. This matter is between you and I now.”
“No!” Will cried, torn into pieces between wanting to go to his wife or son or stay with his daughter. This was not how any of this was supposed to go. “Tessa, please don’t do this. He’s a monster. He can’t be trusted!”
Belial only grinned. “Ah, Theresa. So glad to hear you’ve begun to see things my way. Pity, though, that you serve no purpose to me, not since that damned fool Mortmain gave you your Clockwork Angel.” Will stared desperately at his wife. Tessa’s face remained unchanged, but he could see the emotion behind her eyes. “But that dear child you possess is of great use to me, in fact.”
James’s body suddenly froze, then collapsed in a heap. A desperate shout tore from Will’s throat as he watched the silver cloud emerge and rush toward Tessa.
Tessa gasped and stumbled, clutching her stomach as the silver cloud began to solidify before them all. Will clutched Lucie closer to him as he tried to reach Tessa. She stood only a few feet away from him, at the top of the stairs, but the distance between them felt as painful as it had nearly 25 years earlier, when she was taken from him in London and forced to Cadair Idris. He pleaded with her to retreat inside, where Belial could not enter in his weakened form.
As the figure began to shape into a man, Will relunctantly laid Lucie down and rushed up the stairs to Tessa. She was in pain, but she gripped his shirt tightly with just as much strength as she would have had without the pain. “James and Lucie. Get them out of here, Will.”
Will held her tightly. His heart was about to burst out of his chest in fear. “I will not leave any of you. He’s drawing power from you, Tess, you have to get inside!”
Magnus Bane suddenly emerged from the shadows, chanting in Latin. Tessa’s eyes flashed at him before she joined Magnus. Will stood still for a moment, stunned. The silvery cloud that had begun to shape into the Prince of Hell disappeared with a distant laugh. Will and Tessa rushed to their children, who remained unmoving on the ground.
...
“Lucie, my darling, please wake up,” Tessa whispered, her hand on her daughter’s cheek. Lucie’s skin was clammy but had regained its color. James sat in the far side of the room, curled into himself in the corner, wracked with guilt, refusing iratzes unless Lucie woke.
Will stood stiffly beside Tessa, his hand on her shoulder. “Tessa, my love, please, Jem is here to check on the children. All of them.”
Tessa looked up at him, her heart squeezing with every beat. Because of her, all of her children had been hurt. She could not forgive herself for this. How could Will ever forgive her? If she had just learned to control her powers years earlier, she could have helped James and Lucie earlier. They could have stopped Belial earlier.
Will gently tugged at her shoulder. “Please, Tess.” As she stood quietly, a terrible pain tore through her body. She gasped, clutching her stomach and doubling over. Will grabbed her immediately. “Jem. Jem is here, Tessa, we have to go now.” Out of habit, Tessa’s eyes searched the room for her son.
James stared back at her, wide-eyed and shaking. “Jamie,” she said, trying to reassure him. “Jamie, bach, this is not your fault. Please stay with Lucie, we will be back, I promise.”
He did not move as Will quickly ushered Tessa out of the room toward their own bedroom, where Jem was waiting. Halfway down the hall, Tessa cried out and dropped to her knees. “Tessa!” Will dropped beside her and shouted for Jem to come to them. She vomited suddently, violently. Her body shuddered with every heave. Will’s voice was panicked in her ear. Tessa lifted a shaking hand to her lips and drew back, heaving at the sight of blood on her fingertips. The blood turned black as she stared.
Her breath hitched. Tears welled in her eyes. No, she thought to herself, pleadingly. No, no, this wasn’t supposed to happen. Not my baby.
“Tessa—” Will’s voice was hoarse. She looked at him, tears beginning to fall quickly. He was pale, his gaze on her terrified. “Oh, Tess—no...”
She didn’t want to believe it. She didn’t even want to think it. But as she sat on the ground in the dimly lit hallway in her husband’s arms, her body weak, Belial’s voice echoed in her mind.
That dear child you possess is of great use to me.

MONTHLY MEDIA: May 2020
Well there’s another month come and gone. TV and books seems to be what I gravitate towards whilst in quarantine. Anyway here’s the month of May in a wordy nutshell!
……….FILM……….
Tumblr media
Blockers (2018) I was mostly drawing while my partner watched this but from what I heard and occasionally saw, it was fun! Silly and gross and I’m not reeeeally sure who the target demo was, but it had a modern and more nuanced perspective on sexuality so that’s cool.
……….TELEVISION……….
Tumblr media
Mad Men (Episode 1.11 to 3.03) WHO KNEW THIS SHOW WAS SO GOOD?!? The amount of screentime dedicated to advertising seems to be dwindling a bit, but oooooh there’s still so much juicy office drama (something I think I enjoy because of being self-employed and working from home). It looks like we’ll fail at our attempt to finish the series before it leaves Netflix in June but it was fun while it lasted.
Sex and the City (Episode 1.01 to 2.06) Returning to this for something when we don’t have time to watch Mad Men (or need something lighter) and it’s hitting the spot. We’re slowly getting past the era of randos talking to the camera (and mostly past Carrie breaking the fourth wall). I was in college when I first watched this and I’ve come to realize how much I’ve grown as a human as I only now have enough self-awareness to recognize I’m a Charlotte.
Gravity Falls (Episode 1.09 to 1.15) We’ve since slowed down on this a bit but I’m really excited to get back into it as season 2 is just so good!
Disney Gallery: Star Wars: The Mandalorian (Episode 1.01 to 1.04) The first three eps didn’t really do much for me. The one on the directors was cool as I didn’t realize how many there were, but it would’ve been great if they talked a little more about what they brought to the table or why they took this on. Ep 4 on technology was more my speed but overall this still kinda just feels like surface level stuff. Loooots of time spent on actors and directors and professionals complimenting each other and I am not here for that.
……….READING……….
Tumblr media
Illuminatus! Part 1: The Eye in the Pyramid by Robert Shea and Robert Anton Wilson (Page 204/304) What a trip. It’s pretty much what I expected from an comedic book revolving around the illuminati/secret societies from the 1970s, though it took me ages to adjust to the writing style. I’m really enjoying it, but be warned that there’s no major break between narrators so it can jump between plots with each new paragraph. It feels, at times, like a tone poem, but maybe that’s me putting more of the generation into the text than was intended. Again, I think I like it, but am pretty sure I’m missing a lot.
Spinning Silver by Naomi Novik (Complete) Such a stellar read. I loved Novik’s Uprooted and while you could read either in any order, they both feel of the same world. Both books are full of fairytale danger akin to the traditional stories. They’re beautiful and uncertain and familiar and new. I realize I’m being super vague and general but it’s because it’s so hard to pin down what’s excellent about this book. It’s just good and if you like fantasy and classic fairy tales with layered characters and a more nuanced approach to good and evil then read this AND Uprooted.
Tumblr media
Umbrella Academy Volume 3: Hotel Oblivion by Gerard Way and Gabriel Ba  (Complete) It’s great to get back to this world but I think I need to give it another read. The first two volumes were frantic, but there was typically a clear drive or sense of what the big picture was. Volume 3 felt like a buildup or segue into the next story being told and that’s...not great.
Satania by Fabien Vehlmann and Kerascoet (Complete) I’ve rambled at length about how much I love past books by these two (particularly Beautiful Darkness) but this one didn’t connect quite the same. The story only scratched the surface of (admittedly really interesting) themes and I would’ve loved for it to get fleshed out further. The art is consistently incredible and their take on a subterranean world is breathtaking. I recommend if you want to read every book by these two, but wouldn’t suggest this as your first introduction (for that, Beautiful Darkness, or Beauty).
Tumblr media
Hellboy Library Edition Vol 5 & 6 by Mike Mignola, Duncan Fegredo, Dave Stewart (vol.5 and 6), and others (vol. 6) (Complete) A return to form. Fegredo is such a great choice for taking over from Mignola for the main story. The final story in volume 6 is still a weird choice to me (especially since the penultimate one would’ve been much better) but I’m so excited to read the next volume. Such an cool chapter in comics history.
Tumblr media
GRRL SCOUTS by Jim Mahfood (Complete) Very late 90s. Like soooooooo 90s. Some of the writing hasn’t aged well, but it’s interesting to see how much things have changed in...oh jeez 20 YEARS!
……….AUDIO……….
Tumblr media
Staying In with Emily & Kumail (Podcast) As a dedicated listener to their old podcast, The Indoor Kids, it’s great to listen to these two again. Also weirdly comforting that their dynamic and personalities (at least as far as podcasting is concerned) hasn’t changed over the years between then and now. It’s gotta be at least 4 or 5 years, right? Anyway, this is a good listen if you’re navigating the pandemic (jk, we’re all doing that).
Articles of Interest (Podcast) So I think this is technically a miniseries put out by 99% Invisible but I loved season 1 and season 2 is just as good. Every episode is concise and these latest episodes are really diving into new parts of the fashion industry. Very cool.
Tumblr media
Unravel Season 4: Snowball (Podcast) I checked this out on a recommendation since our mutual friend went through a similar situation (getting romantically involved with a perpetual con artist) and it was so interesting to see the overlap. It’s just such a wild story of deception and habitual lying and theft and manipulation. Great listen.
Dedicated Side B by Carly Rae Jepsen Exactly the sort of pick-me-up we need right now. Good stuff. Always a treat. Very happy.
……….GAMING……….
Tumblr media
Neverland: A Fantasy Role-Playing Setting (Andrews McMeel Publishing) The latest session had the group spending...maybe 25 minutes sorting out how they were going to approach the Jolly Roger (ship of the dreaded Captain Hook). Their plan is a mixture of stealth and impersonating what amounts to Pirate Ship Quality Control. We’ll see how that goes. Anyway I’m really excited by how the group is exploring the island and for this book to come out in October!
Tumblr media
D&D Homebrew Adventure (Menace of Merlin) The group is sorting out a curse/illness plaguing one of the character’s hometown and...the timing of this plot is not ideal BUT everyone seems to be okay with it. They took out some orcs and hopefully will be able to find the hermit that can help with the slow petrification of the village.
Tyranny of Dragons /Gainfully Employed (Wizards of the Coast) I’m not sure I posted about this last month but the party has just sorted out the cause of a failing lighthouse (that’s magical) and brought the culprit to justice! Now to head out of Phlan and sort out some silly rumors that I’m sure are nonsense.
And that’s it! As always, hit me with your recommendations if you have something I should read/play/watch/or listen to!
Happy Sunday.

Bail to The Chief
With The Don banished, silenced on Twitter and other social media, and left only to spread lies about his golf game, this was the time to cut the head off the orange snake. After all, the snake was being served up on a platter with the sign: Convict and Banish.
Tumblr media
Mitch McConnell, a snake of different color, saw an opportunity to lead the beheading. In his conniving manner, he intimated he would be willing to consider bringing the ax down. But a funny thing happened. Talk of challenging his leadership role spooked him and he joined 44 other Republicans to try to cancel the trial completely. The “Grim Reaper” also wanted to avoid a scenario where his cronies would publicly be on record with their vote, as for now, big business has decided they won’t throw money into Republican coffers for supporting the “Big Lie” and failure to denounce The Don’s actions. (We will see how long that lasts!)
Though there is precedent for impeachment trials after a public official leaves office, the Republicans decided to continue their odious sycophancy. And anyway, what’s all the hubbub about instigation of an insurrection. Just a few dead police officers (two by suicide), 140 injured, confederate flags carried through the halls of the Capitol, a guy wearing an Auschwitz t-shirt, threats to lawmakers lives and and a lively chant of “hang Mike Pence” for good measure. As I said, what’s all the hubbub?
Tumblr media
In fact, The Don’s legal team decided to jump ship because he insisted that they use the “they stole the election defense.” Imagine arguing that the election was a fraud, stolen from The Don, so it was his right to incite a riot to take back what was properly his. So in other words, “Yeah, he did it, but you can’t steal stuff from people and not expect someone to fight back!”
Let’s face it folks, if many Republicans are still propagating the “Big Lie,” that Biden is an illegitimate president, and instigating an insurrection against your own government doesn’t rise to the level of convict and banish, then any hope of sanity and unity is gone.
When members of congress do not feel safe in their work place because of  menacing colleagues, we have arrived at a dark place.
At a press conference Nancy Pelosi, someone who was a target of the rioters, stated it very clearly: “The enemy is within.”
This quote from A.O.C. directed at Ted Cruz regarding their mutual support of the anti-Wall street populism of the “Game Stop” stock extravaganza says it all.
“I am happy to work with Republicans on this issue where there’s common ground, but you almost had me murdered 3 weeks ago so you can sit this one out,” she responded. “Happy to work w/ almost any other GOP that aren’t trying to get me killed. In the meantime if you want to help, you can resign.” Talk about speaking truth to power!
Cruz, the poster child for unity, response was to cry foul and state that A.O.C.’s anger stoked further division.
Mr. Unity, what have you got to say about fellow Republican, Qanon lady, Marjorie Taylor Greene, who, in an October 2020 video surfaced recently by Mother Jones,  said that the “only way you get your freedoms back is it’s earned with the price of blood.”
What’s that I hear? Umm! Thought so. So you can take your cry for unity and shove it up your ass. You are scum. A sniveling, conniving, morally bankrupt opportunist who gives a shit about no one but yourself and desire for power. And that goes for you too, Josh Hawley.
Lady Q has also repeatedly claimed in multiple videos and social media posts that several school shooting massacres were “false flag” events perpetrated by government officials in an attempt to drum up support for gun control laws.
Lady Q has implicated anti-Semitic conspiracy theories that a Jewish owned international investment banking firm, Rothschild, Inc. was somehow involved in creating the devastating fires in California this past summer and suggested the fire was caused by a beam from “space solar generators.”
Cori Bush, a black, newly elected congresswomen from St. Louis, felt so threatened by Lady Q, that she asked for her office, which was located next to Lady Q’s, to be moved.
And then there is Kevin McCarthy, House Minority Leader, making a pilgrimage to Mar-a-Lago, to lick the soles of The Don’s shoes to ask for forgiveness for ever turning against him. McCarthy’s response to the dangerous conspiracy theory Q Lady was to appointment her to the Education Committee, where she will promote curriculum that promulgates theories that the Jews are behind everything that is wrong with America and for that matter, the world. Heil Hitler, sister Q.
Let’s imagine that conversation K.M.’s conversation with The Don:
K.M. Mr. President.
The Don: It’s about time you showed up. I had you on my list of who to primary.
K.M. Mr. President, Mr. President, I don’t know what got into me. Maybe I was drugged by A.O.C. Marjorie told me that I must have been zapped by a mind control laser beam sent by some Jew that rearranged my thoughts. Do you forgive me? Please forgive me, Mr. President. We need you. You are our fearless leader.
The Don: On your hands and knees Kevin.
K.M. But Mr. Pres..
The Don: Shut up and lick.
K.M: But Mr. Pres…
The Don: Shut up and lick…thatta boy.
Tumblr media
K.M. Mr. President. Why are you pulling down your pants?
The Don: Remember all that talk about the pee tapes in the Steele report in the hoax Russia investigation? Well they were true!

morning announcements
wordcount: 2.3k warnings: Pro!Sero Hanta, no ships, trying to be a role model, bad puns and jokes author’s note: OOF, apparently I was going to try to keep my Cellophane zine piece to myself forever. So, surprise!! Have some Sero adventures <3
Sero figures he has about maybe a minute and a half before his PA realizes he skipped out on the agency’s morning announcements. It doesn’t seem to matter that he’s on top of it all already - he does read the news, and all of the agency emails, thanks very much - his PA is just a menace. All he’s scheduled for anyway is some routine patrolling. He pops another orange slice in his mouth as he slips into his office, leaving all the lights off, and heads straight for the balcony.
It’s not exactly a secret, his hiding out here. Plenty of the offices have balconies - easy exits for heroes are often a must - but Sero is probably the only one of the top floor that uses his balcony this way. It’s yet another thing that drives his PA up the wall.
“Sixty and counting,” Sero mutters to himself, glancing at the clock on the wall. He rushes through eating his last slice and pushes the sliding glass door open. He’s probably going to be hearing about this for the better part of the next two weeks, so he might as well make it good, right? He hitches a leg over the balcony railing, wipes his mildly sticky fingers on his hip, and then swings the other leg over, carefully balancing on the edge. He’s fairly sure he hears yelling coming from the elevator down the hall, and a wide smile starts to pull at the corners of his mouth. “A little ahead of schedule?” He wonders aloud, sliding his phone out of a compartment on his belt. He’d purposefully switched it to silent, but the screen is covered with message notifications. With a sigh and a shake of his head, Sero slips it back into the compartment, snaps it closed, and waits.
The office door is thrown open, barely a moment later, ricocheting off of the wall with a clatter. It nearly slams his PA back out of the room. Sero wants to cackle at the sight, but he holds himself back, simply smiling widely as his PA finally comes to a fumbling stop. Their arms are curled protectively around a clipboard and an uneven stack of paper, shoulders heaving as they attempt to catch their breath. He waits until their eyes land on him, slit pupils gone wide in the dark, and gives a little salute before he jumps off the railing, shooting tape straight at the building across the street. It catches with a small snick against an industrial pane of glass, going taught enough for him to angle a good swing down the street - far away from his PA.
There’s an angry shout of “CELLOPHANE!” that momentarily fills the air, before he laughs, shooting another length of tape that swings him too far away to hear anything else they might be saying.
Civilians down below startle as his shadow zips over them, but he catches sight of one or two that wave and call out encouraging things. At least, he thinks they do. Sero can’t quite hear anything but tone when he’s swinging between buildings at such a fast pace. He catches sight of a crowd of middle schoolers getting close to a stoplight a few streets up though, and decides he may as well get a little meet-and-greet out of the way early in his day. He swings to the building on the corner, shoulders straining as he whirls, and then lets himself drop. Sero’s left elbow grows a little hot, producing so much tape, so fast, but landing amidst the crowd of kids is beyond worth it.
“It’s Cellophane!” One of them is crying, little voice echoing with happiness. The sudden cacophony as they clamor for his attention has Sero grinning at them, one arm still raised, where his tape is still attached to the above building. A few adults, and a tourist family across the street, linger in the area. Most of them have small smiles on their faces due to his antics, but one old man skirts the crowd of kids, scowling.
“Hey guys!” Sero greets the children, making to wave, and then chokes out a grunt. He overacts the jerk of his arm when the adhesive of his tape holds strong, leaving his arm awkwardly angled in the air. The kids laugh, even the ones who’d initially taken a few steps back. “Dang. You little heroes want to give me a hand here?” Sero glances around at the sea of bobbing heads, but waits until he catches a few choruses of “Yes!!” before he gestures them closer. “Either side there, kiddos, grab tight onto my forearm, and on the count of three, you’re going to help pull really hard, yeah?” The kids line up, quick to action, and latch onto one another. The two kids at the front of the line have just started to wrap their tiny little hands around his arm, when Sero feels a rather strong tug on his tape. It jerks his elbow upwards, sharply out of the kids grasp and a sinking feeling fills Sero’s stomach as he lifts his head. Maybe, just maybe, Sero should have stayed to listen to the morning announcements.
A fairly nondescript man is hanging onto the edge of the building, feet braced on the corners. One hand is flat against the glass, while the other holds Sero’s length of tape aloft, wrapped securely around his palm. Some kind of sticking quirk? Sero has the time to think, but immediately amends his assessment when he spies the barbs down the guys forearm. They look sharp enough, and are apparently strong enough to dig into the quirk-resistant glass and hold him up. Whatever his reasons for trying to start something with a pro, Sero knows he needs to get far away from the kids. Now.
“Really?” Sero deadpans, mouth curling into a frown. The man - villain, Sero supposes he should call him - sneers down at him, arms starting to tense, and Sero mutters a quick: “Everyone, south down the street. Stat.” The kids start to back up, but none of them move far, so Sero raises his voice again, tone petulant. “Come on, bro! Can’t you see I’m with a group of ki-”
The villain jerks his hand upward, sneer sharp and menacing, and Sero is lifted clean out of the crowd of kids. It’s startling, even though he was expecting it, but a quick retraction of his tape makes it look like he goes flying through the air. Some of the kids down below scream, but they’re scattering, and the nearby adults are ushering them out of harm's way, so Sero will count all of this as a win. Sero lets the villain pull him nearly halfway up the building before he snaps his arm straight, grabbing the length of tape to halt the tugging, and braces his feet against the windows.
“Rude! If you were looking for someone to play with, you could have just asked!” Sero says, pasting on a huge grin for any onlookers. Truth be told he’s kind of worried - he’s having to strain his arm, just a bit, to keep the guy from pulling him any further and he would really like to take a glance at those messages from his PA. “So, man, what are we looking to play? Kick the can? Cops and robbers? I’m kind of partial to-”
The villain opens his mouth and hisses and, wow. Okay, it’s never nice to rag on mutation quirks, but the mandibles hiding in the guys mouth are startling. And dripping.
“Come on,” Sero groans, wiping away a drop of saliva. “Have you ever heard ‘say it, don’t spray it’?” Sero is ready to keep going, but the guy looks livid, and hauls his arm back, making Sero lose his footing and bounce face-first against the windows. He’s going to bruise now, damn it, and his shoulder is aching something fierce. “Maybe you have heard it, then,” Sero groans, rubbing awkwardly at his nose. Time to cut loose, he decides, unless he’d rather risk those barbs in his face. Those suckers look sharp, which means the guy might be able to cut through Sero’s tape, if he isn’t quick about it.
“Good thing I am quick about it,” he mutters, and tears his tape. He drops, and screams echo through the street from adults and children alike, before Sero aims his tape at the building across the road and swings over.
Sero rips his phone out of his belt compartment, flips up his visor, and looks for the last missed call, which, just like he thought, is from his PA. “I really need to start calling them by name,” he mutters to himself, clicking the CALL button. It doesn’t even get through one ring before they’ve answered, and he’s fairly sure that if they weren’t an employee, they would be cursing him out right about now.
“Cellophane, you can’t just - ”
“I see all the errors of my ways, and it’s likely that I may owe you a gift basket, but more importantly: the announcements this morning. Did they happen to cover anything about a guy with mandibles?” Sero asks, eyes darting back to the villain, who seems to be yelling something about heroes never minding their own business.
“Let me guess,” they say wearily, “you’ve met him.”
“Oh yeah,” Sero assures them, angling his elbow so he can grab the tape connected to the building. His shoulders are already aching and it isn’t even noon. “He was really eager for a friend. Got anything for me?”
“One day I will leave you out to dry,” they snap. “But I do, actually. Police went to bring him in after a domestic dispute, but instead of coming with the officers, he chose to fight his way out. Two officers are in the hospital for minor puncture wounds. The barbs on his arms are very sharp and resilient, but that’s it. His quirk is Leaping, because his legs - ”
The villain drops from the side of the building, catching himself a few feet from the ground with his barbs, and a horrible rending noise fills the air as they scrape down the glass. He’s heading for the kids, Sero realizes.
Sero drops his phone - mentally apologizing to his PA, and to his bank account - before he throws himself into a dive. He barely hears his phone shatter as it hits the ground, too busy keeping himself from doing the same. The villain is too close for Sero’s preferred swing-and-kick move but when Sero’s tape snaps around the guys arm to haul him back a few steps, he only sneers. He turns his arm and wrenches, and -
“What do you know? They do cut through my tape,” Sero grunts, darting towards him, and ducking a wide swing. “Well, if you don’t want to make this easy, I suppose I’ll have to gift wrap you for the police, huh? Sadly, I’m fresh out of bows!” Sero drops and almost catches the guy with a leg swipe - but he leaps. “Aw, shi- ” Sero rolls out of the way, barely dodging a foot to the face.
“Okay, no more of this,” he grunts, getting back to his feet and dodging another swing. “I just need to use more and - ugh, man, I am going to be starving after this, and you won’t even be around to buy me some food.” Sero shoots him a vaguely dirty look, ducking when the villain tries to kick him in the head, and then nearly chokes when two little kids start yelling insults at the top of their lungs.
The two kids dart around them, waving their arms and shooting off little bursts of their quirks. Holy crud, Sero thinks. His heart rate skyrockets as the villain turns his attention to the kids - is this how All Might and Aizawa felt, all those years?!
“Don’t think so, cheapskate!” Sero shouts and shoots tape at the villain’s ankles. He trips, and Sero takes the chance to push the guy into a roll, tangling tape around him as fast and thickly as possible. Sirens echo down the street as he finishes cocooning the guy in a ball of tape - and then he turns to look at the kids.
Their little faces are bright eyed and smiling, full of that rush of I did something awesome! And he feels like a cad, getting ready to scold them. He goes through about three different warped expressions before he sighs.
“Yeah, so I can’t pull an Aizawa,” he mutters under his breath. “And no one is like All Might, so…” He clears his throat and flops down onto the pavement next to the wriggling villain, leaning his elbows on his knees. He knows he comes off a little blasé to any nearby adults, but sue him. He’s a hero in his own right, and he’s starving.
“I have to thank you - you helped save my buns back there. Did you see his arm barbs? Literally!! That would have been like a barbecue fork to the butt! Still, I can’t congratulate you on it. If anything had been slightly off, you two would have been going to the hospital. Keep those heroic little lights burning, but save them for school, okay?” He watches them go back to the adults with a smile, but he hides the expression behind a cough when the adults turn their eyes his way.
“Man... I would kill for barbecue,” he grumbles, and waves at the police flooding the scene.
The next day his PA angrily tosses a newspaper his way during morning announcements. There’s a picture of him and the kids on the front page, and he knows those little suckers are going to get fat heads over the ordeal. Or maybe not. He was like them once. He’s known people like them, for years now. They’ll turn out okay.
He laughs though, looking at his hero name in huge print, and the ridiculous headline the newspaper decided on: CELLOPHANE RESCUES KIDS FROM STICKY SITUATION
“It’s a mockery,” his PA mutters.
“Nah,” he disagrees, grinning down at the article and resolutely not looking up. “I think it’s cute. You’re just mad that I skipped out yesterday.” The noise of rage they make is utterly worth it.

-Y/N’s P.O.V-
I wore a frown as I walked through the bustling streets of the town. We had just docked the ship this morning and when I told Jongdae I wanted to walk around and look at a few things he was quick to say okay. What I didn’t expect was to have him tag along...with Uri and Jay. I wanted some time to myself, to think things through but he seemed hesitant to let me out of his sight. I asked if he thought I was going to run away but he was quick to assure me that that wasn’t it at all. He was worried that some of the royal guard was in the area, telling me he didn’t want them to take me away. But having them all around while I had so much to think about was a little suffocating.
“So am I just going to have my own little entourage follow me around from now on?” I asked, hearing the smile on Jay’s face when he answered.
“You should feel honored, our time is precious y’know.”
I couldn’t help but scoff, looking over my shoulder to glance over at him and Uri, “Uh-huh if you weren’t here you’d be wasting your time fucking whores in a brothel.”
He grinned at those words, sharing a look with Uri who only rolled his eyes, “Hey you’re not wrong,” he paused for a moment before coming over to drape his arm over my shoulders, “You should join us one day, isn’t that right Uri?”
I heard Uri sigh heavily, “You’re digging your own grave here man.”
“Oh c’mon you’ve never been opposed to having a three some. What do you say you, me, and the little dove here have some fun?”
They went back and forth for awhile, my eyes on Jongdae the whole time. He had been walking a little ways ahead of us since this whole conversation started but as it progressed I noticed how his relaxed hands had turned into clenched fists, his shoulders looking tense as he walked. Just from staring at his back I could tell how pissed he was. I elbowed Jay in the ribs pretty hard when I noticed the conversation getting out of hand, nodding over to Jongdae.
“What? You suddenly care about his feelings now or what?” He asked, something shining in his eyes that I didn’t like.
“Hey Captain this conversation bothering you? The little dove here seems to think it’s bothering you...it isn’t is it?”
Jongdae stopped walking, clenching his fists so tight his knuckles had gone white. I shoved his arm off me, annoyed with how far he was taking this. Jongdae had turned to glare at Jay, Uri trying to calm him down but Jongdae didn’t listen to him.
“You’re really pushing it Novak.” Jongdae said through gritted teeth, using his last name as he took a step towards him.
Jay only smirked, poking his tongue against the inside of his cheek, “I quite think I’m still within bounds here Captain. I just want to show Y/N a good time here what’s wrong with that?”
That seemed to push Jongdae over the edge as he pulled out his sword, pointing it directly at Jay. Jay pulling his sword out as well, doing the same. Uri was in the middle of pulling his own out when I had already unsheathed both of mine, Jongdae telling me to keep them since that day a few weeks ago. Before any of them had the chance to blink I made my way behind Jay, pressing both blades against his throat. I felt him tense under my hold, his grip on his own sword tightening.
“You know I consider you a friend so as your friend I’m giving you a warning but I’m only going to do it once. Point your sword at Jongdae one more time while I’m around I’ll gut you like a pig on Thanksgiving, got it?” I said, my voice low and menacing.
Jongdae and Uri had their eyes wide as they watched, Jay letting out a low scoff before speaking, “You’ve sure changed a lot little dove. Fine, have it your way.”
Hearing his answer I let him go, placing my swords back where they belonged. Without looking at any of them I walked away from them, wanting to get far from them as my mind began to become a little too chaotic for me. I still hadn’t sorted out how I felt about that kiss weeks ago and now with what I just did I had my answer but I didn’t want it. I wanted to reject my own feelings completely but the way I’ve regarded Jongdae and everything he’s done for the past few weeks were telling me that it was useless. No matter how much I wanted to fool myself that there really were no feelings in my heart for Jongdae I was only deluding myself.
“Y/N! Y/N wait!”
I closed my eyes for a moment at hearing his voice, a heavy sigh leaving my lips but I didn’t dare turn around to face him, “Jongdae I really want to be alone right now.”
“Y/N you know I can’t-”
“Jongdae, please. I really need to sort out a few things on my own and I can’t do that with you constantly hovering over me.” I said, turning to look at him, seeing his face fall at the look in my eyes, “I won’t go too far and if anything happens I know how to defend myself.”
Jongdae still looked a bit hesitant, causing me to frown as I spoke up once more, “Prove to me that I’m no longer your prisoner.”
I knew that was a low blow but it was the only thing I could think of. The hurt that crossed his eyes as soon as I said that made me regret it immediately, seeing him nod his head slowly.
“Just...be back before dark alright?”
I gave a simple nod of my head as I turned on my heel and walked away from him. I didn’t know where I was headed, I just needed to clear my head. Everything I have done up until this point has been contradicting the type of person I’ve been living as. While growing up I learned how to fight from Yunho and his father. Since learning how to defend myself I’ve only been looking out for well myself, with the except of Yunho whenever he needed it. Whenever the occasion called for it I fought my way out of it every time, only thinking about myself. The only other person I had fought for beside Yunho was Hera. She had always seemed so innocent, naive of how the world worked and when people got to rough with her she didn’t know how to talk herself out of a situation. Sure she could’ve just told them who she really was but she never liked the idea of using her status to her advantage, she wanted everyone to treat her as their equal. I was always the one to get her out of any dangerous situation...all except one.
So why was I fighting for Jongdae? I was so frustrated because I knew exactly why but I didn’t want to accept it. I knew this would only end badly so I was determined to crush it before it even had a chance to start. As that thought crossed my mind I stopped walking, standing in the middle of the street, staring down at the ground underneath my feet with a frown. Did I really have the courage to do that to begin with? Sure saying it was one thing but actually doing it were two different things entirely.
“Y/n?”
I furrowed my brows, looking up at the sound of my name in confusion. That voice sounded familiar and when I saw his face I knew exactly why. My jaw dropped the moment my eyes met his. I didn’t know why but seeing him, here of all places had my eyes glazing over in unshed tears.
“Yunho…” I said, my voice barely above a whisper.
He grinned once realization hit me, “It is you...maybe coming to this city really was my best idea yet.”
The moment I saw his smile it felt like the air had been forcibly removed from my lungs. I had the sudden urge to start crying right then and there but I held back, pulling him towards me and wrapping him up tightly in my arms. I felt his chest rumble as he chuckled, squeezing me in his hold just as tightly as I was squeezing him. Having somebody there that I knew and had such a long history with was like taking a breath of fresh air. I hadn’t realized how much I missed him until I saw his face. I buried my face further into his chest as the tears I tried keeping at bay fell one by one. I heard him sigh heavily, his fingers combing through my hair to try and calm my tears.
“I’m sorry….I-I’m so sorry. I-I couldn’t protect h-her. I-If only I had gotten t-there sooner s-she would s-still-” I started, suddenly talking about Hera before cutting myself off with a sob.
He let out another sigh, pulling back from the hug to cup my face in his hand, wiping away my tears from my cheeks, “Listen to me. None of it, and I mean none of it is your fault. What happened was out of your control and if you had been there you would’ve ended up the same way or worse. I know how much she meant to you but please don’t blame yourself, I’m begging you.”
I said nothing, only nodding to what he said but the tears wouldn’t stop falling. He smiled once more when he noticed they didn’t stop but that smile soon fell from his face, his hands now on my shoulders.
“I am worried about you though...they’re looking for you all throughout the capital and I’m sure the entire kingdom. I’m just glad I got to you first.”
“You’ve been looking for me?”
“What? Did you expect me to just sit around at home and wait for them to bring you back only to have them hang you a second later? So you’ve been here the whole time then? Where have you been hiding?”
“Ah…” I let out, wiping my tears away quickly.
I didn’t know how to explain everything to him. I knew when he heard a few things he’d be furious and confused over others. I let out a groan, rubbing my hands over my face as the thoughts from before came rushing back. Too much has been going on in the past few hours for me to keep up, I feel like I’m going to explode.
“Why don’t you just tell me everything from the beginning, huh?”
“I don’t even know where to start…”
“Well I have all the time in the world.” He said with a smile, intertwining his hand with mine as he dragged me over to a place where we could talk.
-
I looked up at the sky, stumbling over my feet when he bumped his shoulder with mine. I looked over at him, giving him a small smile. It felt nice getting everything off my chest. I had almost forgotten how much of a great listener he was, missing the times when we would just talk about anything and everything. I cleared my head of everything that had been making me feel like I was drowning and it had been all thanks to Yunho.
“Is this really what you want to do?” He asked, referring to what I had told him earlier.
I looked over at the inn Jongdae said we were staying at before meeting his gaze once more, nodding, “It’s the only thing I can do really, no choices no options here. I’d rather do this than try and sneakily live with you and your father, I don’t want to have to put you both in danger. You two are the closest thing to family I have...I’d hate to see anything happen to either of you.”
Yunho rolled his eyes at my words before wrapping his arms around my shoulders, pulling me into his chest, “You know I’d switch places with you in a heartbeat if I could right? So many things have happened in your life...I couldn’t even protect you when we were children and now as adults I’ve done a shit job at keeping my own promise. If you’re happy...then I guess that’s all that matters right?”
I couldn’t help but let out a laugh, wrapping my own arms around his waist, “I wouldn’t let you take my place even if you could,” I paused for a moment, suddenly becoming serious, “I’ll do whatever it takes to clear my name, you just watch.”
He chuckled at my words, pulling back from the hug to do what he did before, cup my face with his hands, “I’m sure you will...just be careful alright? I’ll see what I can do once I get to the capital but if you need me I’ll be here for another couple days. You know where I’m staying right?”
I thought back to his words from earlier, nodding my head, “I’ll come see you before we head out again.”
He grinned at those words before suddenly placing an affectionate kiss on my forehead, “I love you you know that right?”
I smiled softly, wrapping my fingers around his wrist, “I love you too. You know at times like this I really wish you were my brother.”
He let his arms hang at his side, taking a step back, the grin still on his face, “Who said you needed to be related by blood to be family? No matter what happens, has happened or will happen, you’ll always be my little sister. You’re the little dove I’ve always wanted to have to shelter and protect.”
I scrunched up my nose at the nickname, “What is it with everyone calling me a dove? You, Jay, Jong...dae...” I trailed off, seeing him standing off to the side, leaning against a tree.
Luckily enough Yunho didn’t see him as he said goodbye, walking off to the inn he was staying at. I waited until he was out of sight to walk over to Jongdae. As I made my way over to him Yunho’s words rang in my ears, “If you unsheathed your sword for the sole purpose of protecting that man then that should be answer enough. You, who only cares about saving yourself and the ones you care deeply about, would willing risk your own life to protect him at all costs...you shouldn’t even be doubting your own feelings.”
Jongdae opened his mouth to say something but I shut him up just before he got to opportunity to do so. He was so surprised by the sudden kiss he frozen, his lips not moving against my own. I reach out to grab his hand, intertwining my fingers with him. The moment I did that he began to kiss me back, this hand squeezing mine in his hold. This is what I was going to do from now on; allow myself to be happy, try to bring Hera’s real killer to justice, and save Jongdae’s brother. All that while showing Jongdae that his love wasn’t one sided, starting tonight I’ll show him exactly how I feel.
