#Different Methods

Hi, hope you are doing well.

Can you suggest me resources on working with Goetic spirits in ways other than the solomonic way? I have found some ways in Jason Miller's books, but was wondering if there are any more ways.

There are certainly no shortcuts, or at least, you cannot expect the same results by using shortcuts. These spirits should also not be worshipped and so we can disregard most of the Luciferian and Demonolatory approaches as Darque-fluff.

There is a method in Paul Huson's 'Mastering Witchcraft', in Devin Hunter's work on the matter, Jason Miller offers methods in his courses. And of course Franz Bardon has a method as well. I believe Jason Miller's methods in Consorting with Spirits are the best modern adaptations I have seen. Jake Stratton-Kent also had different methods for example utilising Crowley's Liber Pyramidos, and also the techniques in his Goetic Liturgy.

In truth, any method of evocation can be adapted to work with the goetia if you know what you are doing. In fact I believe we should strive to find our own method of evocation that works for us and stick to that one. Otherwise we become jacks of all trades and masters of none.

What truly matters is you have the skills to perceive spirits, you know how to communicate with them, and you have the authority to summon them and for them to obey you. This authority can come from yourself through gained initiations and spiritual experiences, from the Holy Guardian Angel which is your connection to the Godhead itself, or from a deity you are close with whose authority you borrow. This being said the deity should be widely considered to be a deity spirits feared such as Hekate who is related to Goetic work.

as a bi person, the bisexual flag brings me infinite joy and always puts a smile on my face, however as a person who has a Passion for Graphic Design, that undersaturated shade of purple infuriates me when it's used digitally

like, on an actual flag - which was its original purpose - it looks great!

those look fine! lovely, even! with the semi-transparent fabric, the way it catches the sunlight, it looks beautiful!

but now look at how it looks digitally

the pink and blue are so vibrant compared to the sad, lonely lavender!

and let's look at this statement from Michael Page, the creator of the bi flag:

(sidenote: he created this flag in 1998, so if his takes on bisexuality is different from yours, it's okay to notice that! a lot has changed since the 90s when it comes to lived experiences and the way we describe them. but, it's also important to respect his thoughts about this and the way he presented them, even if today, we'd probably not say that bi people "blend unnoticeably into both the gay/lesbian and straight communities.")

so in pantone colors, the pink is 226 C, the blue is 286 C, and the purple of the flag is 258 C.

but...here's the deal

Michael talks here about how the key to understanding the symbolism is to know that the purple blends into both the pink and blue. and on a physical flag, I think you can see that!

but digitally, it absolutely does not blend. it clashes badly, and looks oddly separate from the other two colors.

which got me wondering...what purple do you get if you actually blend 226 C and 286 C?

oh! oh, my god.

look at that! look at how nicely it fits between those colors!

look at it next to the original color scheme! look at how much more vibrant the purple is!

and friends. this is just blending through rgb! you get even more purple variations when you use other color spaces!

let's compare all of them:

(top: original, lab. middle: lrgb, lch. bottom: rgb, hsl)

look at all of the different purple options you can get just by combining these two colors!

if you want almost too-vibrant saturation, you can go hsl, if you want something more relaxed that's closer to the original, you can go lab or lrgb. and if you want to split the difference, lch is bright and violet, while rgb is there with its saturated but darker purple.

anyway, I guess I don't really have a point here? this isn't so much an informational post as it is Me Getting Weird About Colors, but I think it is a useful lesson about how colors look very different on screens compared to how they look on objects in real life.

and sometimes, I think it's okay to compensate for that.

out of all of these, this is my favorite bi flag:

it's the one where the colors were blended in lab color space. for me, the lighter, softer purple is close enough to the original bi flag purple, while also feeling like a smoother blend of the blue and pink

but that's just me! and it might not even look the same to you, since every screen is different, because technology is a nightmare!

Look, don’t let Cam’s deadpan demeanor or Pal’s nerdiness seduce you: they may not be disaster lesbians but it’s purely on technicality. I think when people think of mental illness and what helps, especially with things like anxiety and depression, the treatment involves pushing yourself. Pushing yourself to get out of bed, to exercise, to take a shower, to go out in public, to order your own food from the cashier, etc.

And because the mental health movement has grown so much, people think that's the default of ALL illnesses. That the only way someone will get better is if they push themselves. That practice makes perfect. That you'll become more comfortable or strong over time the more you do something.

But what people need to realize is, with physical disabilities and chronic illnesses, pushing yourself in most cases is DETRIMENTAL. Pushing yourself past your limits can lead to flare ups or further injury. That's why it's important to know your limits, how certain activities may affect your condition, and learn how to either adapt or get help to complete the activity in question.

Also, most of us are already pushing ourselves. Most of us don't have access to the help or equipment we need. Most of us live in places where we frequently encounter inaccessible obstacles. Most of us NEED to rest.

So please don't try to be our physical therapists or doctors. There are people specifically trained to help us navigate our own conditions and limitations. There are people trained to help us strengthen our body's resilience without causing flare-ups or injury. Do not tell us "it'll be good for you" or "you need the exercise" when we say something is too heavy or too far or when we say we need our mobility aid(s). Your friend with depression may need to be encouraged to get out of bed, but your friend with chronic illness definitely doesn't.

Respect our rest.

Regulus is sitting in one of his favorite spots in the castle. It’s a secluded alcove behind a tapestry on the fifth floor in a corridor that barely anyone ever uses. He loves it because he can sit and read in peace, and no one could ever find him. 

“Hey Reg.” Remus says casually as he slips behind the tapestry.

“What the fuck, Lupin!” Regulus jumps slightly “How the fuck did you find me?”

“Not important.” Remus brushes him off, as he slips a large piece of parchment into his bag. “Listen, we need to talk about you and James.”

“What about me and James?” Regulus asks feigning ignorance.

“You two need to get your shit together because you’re driving us all insane.” Remus tells him.

“I don’t know what you’re—” Regulus starts.

“Reg, it’s obvious you like him. And it’s obvious he likes you—”

“He doesn’t like me.” Regulus interrupts in a weak voice as he stares down at his lap.

“Regulus,” Remus’ voice softens, and he leans down to try and make eye contact, “There is no way that boy doesn’t like you. I’m pretty sure he’s in love with you. And I know you’re probably just as scared as he is. He’s terrified to do anything and risk losing what you already are to each other. But you could be so much more. And I know you both want that, and you can have it.”

Regulus keeps looking at his lap, he feels his eyes starting to water.

“But what if…?” Regulus trails off, not even wanting to voice his fears out loud.

“He wants what you want. I promise. Talk to him.” Remus whispers firmly as he squeezes Regulus’ shoulder reassuringly.

James’ back is against the stone wall and Barty’s wand is pressed into his throat.

“I swear to Salazar, Potter, if you do not talk to him in the next 24 hours, I will hex you every hour, on the hour until you do! Get your shit together, you’re driving us all insane!” Barty growls at him then unceremoniously drops his wand and walks away without another word.

sometimes i think about toriel in that first run when flowey finds her in the RUINs, having her dead son return to her for comfort, broken and helpless, and being unable to provide for him in the one impossible way he desperately needed, "fixing him" "making it okay" the way only his mom should've been able to do.

flowey kills himself after she fails. you ever think about that? cause i think about that. you're gonna tell me she didn't notice? that she was cheerfully oblivious as things failed to get better and he grew more desperate and more hurt and more hopeless, as she failed him like she once did and always will fail him? you're gonna tell me that didn't eat her alive? didn't keep her up at night? didn't break her back into all those tiny little shards of herself she'd glued back together and swept under the carpet by sheer force of will?

do you think she gets nightmares about it, still?
