[ID: A drawing of all the Hargreeves plus Lila riding in Diego's van from season 4, wearing the outfits they usually wear in the promo posters. Diego is driving and using a fist to mime singing into a mic. Five is reading a newspaper in the passenger seat. In the row behind them, Klaus is dangling his arms out the window, Lila is throwing snacks at Five's head, and Allison is sharing headphones with Viktor who is sitting behind her. Ben is in the same row as Viktor and is staring straight ahead looking shaken. Luther is taking a nap in the trunk. End ID.]

Listen, I love Allison and she's a good sister, but Diego was the one who was there for Klaus since S1. Diego drove him around. Diego saved him from Hazel and Cha Cha. Diego helped him get sober to get Dave. Six years of Allison giving Klaus her basement doesn't erase the fact that Diego's was there for Klaus for who-knows-how-many years.

it's interesting that despite all being the same age you can see a clear division of younger and older siblings within the Hargreeves siblings.
With five it's more obvious despite being mentally far older than all of them he looks like a child he looks like their much younger brother did when they lost him and so they treated him as such. But you can see that level out now to they still treat him like a younger brother but give him space to be an adult.
But for the other siblings that all remain the same age it's a nice little look into how parentification of the higher numbers and the wombification of the lowers ones by Hargreeves insane parenting methods created an artificial sibling age hierarchy amongst children of the same age.
Which is also why ben doesn't fit. He was number 6 to them but he was number 2 in his own family. They want to baby him but he is used to being looked to as an elder. it's also why him and Diego seem to clash the most can't be two number twos with complexes about being number two in the family it fucks the whole shit up

Gael García Bernal and Diego Luna for Bad Hombre magazine 📷 Karla Lisker
PARADE: Diego, what makes Gael a great scene partner? And Gael, what makes Diego a great one? Luna: I think Gael is the most committed actor I've worked with. He goes in and he goes deep and nothing actually stops him. You feel he's on a mission, which is fascinating because there's no time to get distracted. It's all about what's happening there. It is fascinating to see that amount of commitment, because you just have to follow. That's one thing. [García]: I think what Diego has is a wonderful, beautiful energy that gives a rhythm to the scenes. It's like a heartbeat of the dramaturgy in a way. [He] puts it out there, and then everyone starts walking around. [Smiles and gestures moving along.] It is very appreciated because [on] the contrary are actors that you have to drag them from their kind of thing. And Diego's a very generous [actor], his energy is very forward and to many different places. It's very inspiring and very contagious as well. You have to catch up, also. You have to catch up. [Laughs] Luna: I want to say another thing about Gael. He's aware of what's around. He's aware of what you're doing, what's happening. I guess that's the theatre kind of background. Sometimes in cinema, you find actors that are just thinking about a frame or what's happening here, and he's aware of what's around. Generosity is part of his process, too

I saw an interesting post a while back that said “Capcom made us [Miles and Diego/Godot] only have like two(?) interactions because they knew we would be unstoppable with a brother dynamic” and tbh it stuck with me bc it was intriguing.
So yeah that potential brotherhood, but that Godot/Diego AU I made (that I still need a name for)
Also I bet Gregory Edgeworth would have smelled like a bit like coffee, and so Diego just reminds Miles of that comforting presence 😭 (the von Karma estate was a tea household, so he didn’t smell much coffee after DL-6 and didn’t realize how much he missed it/reminded him of his father)

Another thing to add to Five's character assassination is during the fight scene with The Cleanse. Diego, rightfully angry and upset, tells Five to stay away from Lila. Instead of trying to apologize or explain himself or voice his anger at Diego, Five just immediately starts fighting him. He doesn't try to help his family or save Ben, he fights his little brother over his own wife (though Diego also didn't stop fighting either). Five even blatantly states that he wants to kill Diego. Lila tells him it's over and he just goes "Damn ✌️😕" and blinks away, again leaving his family to try to save Ben and stop The Cleanse

I don't think that the majority of people being mad on the internet actually hate s4. I think that they're grieving something that they held very close to their hearts and are in the anger stage of the process. It'll be interesting to see in the next few months what the attitude around the season comes to be.

I'm sitting here rewatching Tua S3 for reasons, and one interesting thing I picked up is that the entire season is really just each of the Umbrellas struggling to define and searching for family in their own way. Here's me laying down some thoughts for y'all:
Luther - For him, family has always been about the team. That's part of the reason he's so drawn to the Sparrows, bc at first they seem to have the cohesiveness that the Umbrellas lacked. Remember, Luther was the last one left at the Academy, then Reginald sent him to the moon alone. So of course seeing a "functional" team is going to be compelling for him, and he desperately wants to be part of it. And then he and Sloane quickly fall in love and for the first time in his entire life, someone wants him for him. It's intoxicating and utterly consuming NRE that is more powerful than anything he's ever felt.
Diego and Lila - For these two, it's about figuring out how to be a family. Both together, but also a little bit with the other Umbrellas. Diego looking out for Allison and Klaus and Lila and Five coming to a truce are part of this - more about Lila and Five in a sec.
Allison - In her mind, her family is Claire and Ray. This one is obvious, but I also think that the writers did us a disservice by not letting us into Allison's perspective. If you think about it, it's completely normal for a parent to put their child above all. While I don't defend her actions, her motivation could have been more compelling and it would have strengthened her character. But sadly she's the character on the show that is most "othered" (which is bad for many reasons)
Klaus - he really dug deep into individual relationships w family, starting with Five (e2 and 5 Five and Klaus bonding are still some of the best bits of the season imo), Diego, Reginald, Sparrow Ben, and then Luther in the afterlife.
Five - Five remains a pragmatist. His bar for family is very low - success for him means the Umbrellas being alive, no matter what the personal cost or sacrifice to him or to some extent others. It is somewhat depressingly delightful to see how he makes his peace with the end of the world as the season progresses. Before that, however, I'd like to meander back to e3 and 4 where Lila convinces him to electrocute himself and then they go on the Commission mission. Both of the actors do a fine job here bouncing back and forth between witty banter and genuine emotion and I love it. It's a quick and subtle piece of dialogue when Five explains how he saved Lila from the Handler. The undertone is that they were both abused by that woman in a similar way - ultimately, she developed and kept them both as pawns in her own game. And I think Five, starting in S2E10 and fleshed out through S3, develops genuine empathy for and eventually acceptance of Lila as family, as one of them, because of this shared experience.
Viktor - Like Viktor in all seasons, he continues to feel out of place with the Umbrellas and compensates by over-prioritizing his relationships with others. Don't get me wrong, I do empathize with him that he lost real love with Sissy and Halan, but I also think Allison was 100% valid to call him out on his lying in E6, and it was on point to verbalize how the constant focus on Viktors pain minimizes her (and everyone else's) experience. (Edit to add: Viktor finally seems to get the message on this, after being called out by Allison, then subsequently both Sparrow Ben and Five, and spends the last few episodes trying to make amends. Real character development here and I like to see it)
Reginald - Well, his overarching motivation since S1 has always been bringing back his dead wife, so I won't belabor that, but also it's interesting to see how he interacted with Klaus particularly - esp in E7 when he sobers up it seems he is experimenting with remembering his role as a father. Now we don't get a ton about his internal motivation here, but you can tell there is some mild curiosity, if not affection, for Klaus, despite the fact that he ultimately is cool with sacrificing him.
Some of these are more obvious than others, but when you tie them all together, the idea that they are all desperately looking for family and the blind spots that that creates for them, some of the messiness of S3 starts to make a bit more sense.

The Man Outside My Door
Ben Hargreeves X Reader
In which Ben has a little crush on an ordinary and follows her around when he gets tired of Klaus.
A/N: Making a story the same day I started my page??😱 Productive ik
ANYWAYS ENJOY and if you don’t.. dont come after me😔
Tumblr media
“Klaus this is the last time I’m taking you out of rehab.” I said leaning on the doorframe. Klaus turned around slowly with white powder under his nose.
this homeless bitch.
“That better be powdered sugar.” I pulled him towards me and wiped the powder away “Yeah yeah sure but I could go for some donuts” He laughed running to the car and tripping on his on feet.
“He’s an Idiot” “He’s an Idiot”
Oh yeah. There’s been this weird guy following me around, I would’ve called 911 if the guy wasn’t dead. Yes I said dead.
Ever since Klaus has been in rehab (like 3 times) he’s been by my side. Talking to me and just walking around with me. The only place he doesn’t follow me is my apartment, he stays outside. I think he sleeps there too. But nobody sees him. At first I thought I was have a psychiatric breakdown then I learned that Klaus could see him too…
That did NOT bring me comfort.
I learned to deal with him just being there, he was actually pretty interesting. Seeing him and Klaus fight was funny, but I didn’t want to let them know that I could see the ghost or “Ben” is what Klaus calls him.
I broke out of my thoughts to see Klaus taking a handful of pill.
how is he still alive.
“KLAUS SERIOUSLY.” I yelled taking the pills out his mouth “hey hey hey I don’t know where your hands have been” He said putting his hand over his chest “They’re probably cleaner than any place you’ve ever been” Ben sighed laying down in the backseat “Thank you Ben” I agreed shooting a glare at Klaus. There was a long silence as I started the car. I turned around expecting to see Klaus sniffing coke. Instead i see two pairs of eyes looking at me in shock.
Oh. shit.
A/N: I KNOW THIS IS VERY SHORT, I js wanted to see if yall would like it or if I should delete my existence🙁 if you have any advice feel free to share! But don’t go bashing me… I will find you😐
PT.2 ALREADY?? Around of applause?? No? Okay.
