Tom the Wifebeater and his redemption death. No question. It's not even close.

Not only do I reject to the "redemption death" on the grounds of it being Tom the Wifebeater who is bullying others until his dying breath, even taunting Thunder about Turtle Tail is dead and the kits must be very torn up about it, but I reject "redemption through death" entirely. I don't like it in stories. It's a theme I deeply object to.

And again it's fucking wild that every time a character is a father, even if they are a wifebeater or a child abuser, the writers think that it bestows a glimmer of goodness into them which every abused child is forced to appreciate and cry about. Breezepelt, Thunder, Tallstar, Tom's children, all of them forced to reconcile and admit how much they wuv their papa.

Abusive dads in WC regularly get redemption deaths, too. Clear Sky dies saving his grandchild, Sandgorse died saving a rando in a tunnel, Tom the Wifebeater saving his daughter.

But Tom the Wifebeater is the worst example of it. Hands down.

Anyway, yep, this is just a short, low-quality, silly little animatic that I started making at a responsible time in the past.

Oh, what was that time you ask? It was just *checks notes* on October 11... which was almost two months ago.....

yeah it was 95% done and then I lost the motivation to do anything productive for awhile lol. But I have finally pushed myself to finish it!!! :D

Getting Jim's hair right was hard at first and I'm still not sure if this is 100% accurate, but I think this looks good on him! And I didn't feel like coloring Kane in, so enjoy this literally paper white boy!

And to put this out there, I generally think comparing someone's trauma response to an animal isn't good, but this is how the audio went so just don't think about it too hard lol. The story already has a lot of dehumanization in it anyway.

Every time I get sick I go through a mental crisis over what ever is happening in my life. Crisis this time was me getting sick after years of not getting sick. Got a DM on DA from someone asking if they could "use my art as a muse for an upcoming project". All their art was either blatantly stolen or AI generated. I guess they thought I wouldn't check their work or something, but the answer was obviously "no".

It is 5am and I am tired, but les go random thought that I wanna share as someone who likes doing art:

A lot of people absolutely hate looking at their old art. It makes them cringe, "why would I do that? Uhg, it's ugly..." amd to that I say VALID! SO VERY VALID! But also... just incase, never let your old art looking bad discourage you

In fact, don't let your CURRENT art looking bad discourage you, I am positive all your favorite artists had a point in time where they hated their art, it looked so bad and they hid it, but then they got better. Sure, there are exceptions, people who truly have talent and were born with this innate ability to do awesome art, but that is definitely not the majority of the skilled art population. I wouldn't doubt some of them even dislike their own peices that you are inspired by!

I love doing art, I am still learning a lot of things- like arms and legs??? DUDE WHY DO THEY LOOK LIKE THAT- always so difficult to proportion, and a lot of the time I end up going with really blocky legs to hide the fact I don't know where the knee is supposed to be

I am still learning, and growing, amd ever few months I look back at what I did a few months before, and it makes me so happy to see how ugly I think they are

The uglier your old art looks, the more you've improved on

I have some art that I absolutely loved when I first made it, I didn't see the faults in it because I didn't know better, I showed it off to people, and they encouraged me- and I'm much better for it, a bit embarrassed but alas! Worth it!

I find it so encouraging when I'm drawing that, "In a few months I'm going to hate this piece" - because I'm gonna be able to do so much better

(Don't be deceived though, the oldest art of my phone is from when I was 13 and I've been drawing since I was a little kid)

In the new chapter at the end it is revealed Nana didn't die from AFO nuking her, but he was holding her by the throat in her finals moments. So this adds to the AFO got all the OFA users body in his fridge. Like you open AFO's fridge and you see Yoichi's body carefully laid out and tucked gently in the back wrapped with some blankets and fake flowers and then you look at the bottom of the fridge and all the other OFA users are just messily shoved in there.

Hold on I gotta put this on my scale and weigh it against other retcons to determine if it's "weird and kinda pointless but not directly contradictory to established canon" or "stupid retcon done to uh make someone with an established history character flaw not have it (ie., change the fact that it was more fun when AfO was just lying about all the hands when we knew he couldn't have Nana's due to her being nuked) for uhh no reason" or something in between
