"everyone." theodore had walked back into the room, you snuggled comfortably into his arms. he had tapped a fork against his glass, gathering the attention of his friends. mattheo's jaw dropped, the hand swung around some girl you had seen around slithering it's way back to his side. "i want to introduce you to my girlfriend."

that's right, you smug snake. i win.

some people in the room looked rather confused, most didn't seem to care. mattheo's eyes had a glint of murder and his new girlfriend was obviously displeased by the sudden lack of his arn around her waist. an umber-skinned boy you didn't recognized was watching theodore with only a curious expression, tilting his head as his eyes met yours. they were oddly piercing, as though he could read your every thought and deduce the scheme you and theodore had drunkly concocted in the kitchen of a random kid's mansion in under a minute.

mattheo stood up quickly and approached you with a furious expression. his eyes burned a hold into theodore's head as he addressed you (though nott seemed unfazed by the boy's anger). "can i speak with you? privately."

your eyes were dead as they gazed onto mattheo and as his eyes met yours, his expression fell from fury to something more shocked. you lazily dismissed him, glancing away as you responded with nothing but a simple, "no." he didn't deserve to waste a second of your time with his nonsense.

he fumed at his and pushed inbetween you and theodore, storming out of the mansion. his date gathered her things quickly and ran after him, shouting his name down towards the sounds of a booming bass.

"i thought you said you weren't dating, theodore?" daphne greengrass sat elegantly upon the loveseat, her legs crossed and a smirk painting her face something beautiful. she looked dignified. "didn't you once remark to me that no girl was good enough for you?"

you wanted to roll your eyes. yeah. that was the theodore nott you knew.

"if we want this to work, you're going to need to -" theodore glanced you up and down. "- change some things."

you narrowed your eyes at him, your arms crossed. "what exactly do you mean by that, nott?"

"i mean to say you need to have the sense of sophistication and upper class of princess diana. and currently you have nothing more than a sense - i apologize - a smell of alcohol about you and all the upper class of a weasley."

"so you're saying you want me to start looking and acting like a spoiled brat?" you asked sweetly, though it was snarlingly obvious your expression was distasteful and offended.

nott sighed as though he were being exhausted by a petulant child, his fingers holding the bridge of his nose between his fingers. "i meant no offense."

"it doesn't matter what you mean, what matters is what you do. i'm sorry i don't have the luxury of a wealthy father to worry about all of my problems. unfortunately i have to pay rent, buy clothes, food, and other necessities, as well as cover the costs of university myself. there's not enough wiggle room there for gucci sandals and a yearly vacation to bora bora."

"i'll pay for everything, all right? i shouldn't have said that the way i did." his tone was sorrowful enough that you forgave him with a sigh and a wave of your hand.

you hopped onto the kitchen counter top as nott began to wash the alcohol glassware. "so, why are we still here? the party is over, i'm sure the kid whose parents own this house would like us very much to leave."

he sent you a look. it took a moment for you to register that this was nott's father's mansion. "oh. well then . . . if we're going to make this work, we have to be more than believable, we have to be undeniably in love. that means people have to see us together, they have to look at us and think we're in love. that means spending time together, nott. are you sure you'll be able to tolerate time alone with someone so below your class?"

theodore gritted his teeth in annoyance and rolled his eyes. "yes, i'm quite certain that i will survive."

you grinned, hopping off from the counter and patting him on the back. "great. pick me up tommorow night at seven, we're getting dinner."

"i can't believe this, i can't believe you didn't tell me!"

"relax, blaise, it's not a big deal."

"big deal!? the girl you've had a massive crush on for the past two years is now your girlfriend and you say it's not a big deal, don't be ridiculous," blaise responds with a scoff.

"fake girlfriend - she's only doing this to get back at riddle. besides, i'm doing this to piss the twat off too," theodore responded in a rather defensive tone. blaise smirked at the faint blush that painted nott's cheeks.

"oh yeah? and that's the only reason? are you quite sure?" there was an embittered silence that made blaise laugh victoriously. he clapped theodore on the back in excitement. "come on, nott, even if you're fake dating right now, you've got to pretend, right? you have your chance, don't let it go to waste! you've got a date with her tonight, right? pull out the stops! buy her flowers, get a -"

"don't you have sports communications now, zabini?" theodore drawled, glaring at blaise with an icy expression. blaise only grinned in response - his friend would come round to listen to him.

theodore had thought good and long on what blaise had said to him. it was true - you both had a general education class first semester and from then on, he had been mad about you. he didn't really understand it fully himself, at least not in the beginning. he had never been interested in girls much before, but something about you in paticular struck him. perhaps your wittiness, your intelligence, the way you weren't afraid to speak your mind about issues that were important, your beauty. you weren't rich and to be honest, he didn't care - it was your personality, your beauty, that was rich. material wealth meant nothing.

well, material wealth meant a little something. it meant he had listened to blaise and bought you an extraordinarily large bouquet of red roses that would never be to expensive to him. he wore his finest suit, his hair slicked back carefully, a hint of cologne wafting off him. he stood at the door to your dorm (which took quite a bit of effort to hunt down, you hadn't even given him your number or where you lived.)

he knocked on your door and waited patiently, glancing up and down the hall. ans then the door opened, revealing a fiesty red-haired girl with a smirk on her face. but theodore wasn't looking at her, he was looking at you. the roses almost fell from his hand.

"erm - i hope i'm not late."

the shock was evident on your face. he was - well, you couldn't deny it, theodore looked astoundingly handsome. and that bouquet of flowers . . . . was it all for you?

"these are for you," theodore said, looking for more nervous than you would have expected him to. he handed you the bouquet, but the ginny snatched it from him immediately.

"i'll go put these in a jar!" she exclaimed, holding them under one arm. she shoved you out the door and towards theodore. "you two go have fun and you, bring her home before midnight or i'll have my older brothers on your arse!"

the door slammed in your faces and you were left unbearably close to theodore. you didn't know what to say - i mean, you knew you had to make it look as though you really were dating, but you didn't expect him to go to such an extreme. "you did really good with the flowers. very believably," you said in a rather constrained tone. part of you had been flattered by such a gorgeous bouquet, but the other half of you knew it was all for show. why did you feel so sad?

infatuated with you. something damon had always struggled with was strong feelings. interest in people, the concept of love. things like those never crossed his mind, feeling like he had greater priorities. but that’d long since gone away, being replaced by such an overwhelming feeling of what he’d once lacked. at the thought of you, your gleaming smile and humming whenever you’re excited, he grows flustered. a strong, warm feeling in his chest. a feeling so overbearing that he feels like he’ll overheat at any moment. but he wants to explore this with you. slowly, but surely. he wants to open up with you, unwind. he wants to be able to understand the way he feels.

the way he conveys himself around you is something that is shown to nobody. his facade taken off, a true him in which only you can uncover. a boy of so many emotions, his vulnerability, his happiness, his sorrow. everything. he trusts you with everything he has, the whole of him, as if you were fumbling his life within your fingers. he wouldn’t mind that. he knows you wouldn’t fuck it up.

morning walks, always. burying his fingers beneath your shirt, letting out a husky laugh as you mumble for more time sleeping. but eventually, you cave, and like always, you set out on a walk. beneath the sunrise where its quiet. when not many people are out, and you two are alone. basking in the fresh sunlight raining down on you, enjoying eachothers laughs, hands pressed together.

needy. a boy who wants more and more from you, who feels himself drained by any contact other than your own. he treats you as if you were a charger, clinging to you awaiting your restoration to his social battery. hes not big on words, preferring to show his affection with actions. laying his head against your lap quietly, leaning against your shoulder, hugging you from behind. small yet romantic gestures in which he finds healing. a safe haven where he can unwind in a most vulnerable way.

# jean delamer

attentive in every way. it’s as if he had a third eye, constantly lingering over you. monitoring you. noticing your every action, if your eyes have faltered slightly, or your eye twitches at someone in dismay. he’s notice it, and taken note of it. his read on your body is incredible, the ability to aid you in escape from an uncomforting situation without even a word from you is a special little skill he claims to have learned from time spent with his crew.

# jett dawson

shows you off like you’re the biggest prize hes ever won. to him, you’re worth more than any trophy! the amount of times your name has slipped off his tongue without him noticing might break a record. his eagerness to ramble about you is endearing.

# eva tsunaka

a place where she belongs. somewhere she feels shes truly appreciated, truly cared for within someones presence. she’d struggled so much with being left out, mocked for what she thought was impressive. but to you? its different. the difference in your attitude toward her ultimate and identity allows her to display her upmost honest self with you. her nerdy comments, her attitude, her vulnerability. who allows herself to become lost within your presence, long enjoying the safety and sense of security you’ve given her. there couldn’t be anything she could ever thank you with.

# diana venicia

sweetest girl ever, though thats a given. worships your body with praise, kisses your everywhere. places you’re insecure about, places you think are odd, places you think are unique. she’ll kiss them until you love them the way she loves you. she appreciates every part of you, from the inside to the outside. if you’re insecure, she cheers you on. she helps you build a good view on yourself. if you’re confident, she feeds into it. she’s your number one supporter. nobody is perfect, yet to her, you’re the closest thing there is.

# wenona

spoils you. shes worked so hard, so why wouldn’t she? to her, any money put toward you is worth spending. expensive stuff, fancy dates. though she doesn’t enjoy throwing around cash for the sake of it, maybe you’re an exception. someone like you who indulges in her interests, who is willing to listen to her ramble about future business opportunities and handle her busy nature whilst still loving her all the same. your patience is rewarding, as long as everything is put to use.

# grace madison

confidently defends you. puts her word in for you no matter the discussion, because nobody talks to her partner like that. regardless of the situation; backhanded comments, obviously bitter words, straight insults. she can’t help it, it comes naturally. the willingness to argue with and fight anyone who dare make even a singular ill comment toward you comes with dating her. she isn’t scared of anyone when it comes to defending you.

# cassidy amber

despite her outgoing, overwhelming spunk, chill days have become a frequency with her. days where you two take time to indulge in each others presence, enjoy games and shows, simply being together. not that its any less chaotic, of course shes still energetic as ever, yet off camera within the walls of your home, it allows her to be a more clingy version of herself. one that allows herself to bury herself within her partners embrace, paying less attention to games, and more attention to the person in front of her.

# toshiko kayura

a darling who wants to learn from you, someone who represents the figure of an older sibling to her, someone who means so much to her. she clings to you. she takes after your actions, your thinking style, your way of speaking. taking words and forming them within her own speech, following you around like a curious puppy eager to learn the things you’ve been indulging in. she enjoys your time, and wants to be like you, wholeheartedly.

Damon and Diana, Snake and Chameleon

in the context of chapter 1 i wanted to expand on some of the animal symbolism, particularly damon's symbol of a snake and diana's of a chameleon. buckle up yall!

while the biblical snake symbolism is obvious, i think lots of meaning can be derived from real world knowledge--in particular, the familiar image of a snake shedding its skin. snakes enter periods of heightened aggression when molting due to the sensitivity of their new skin, and i think this will be reflected by damon becoming much worse in the name of defending himself before he changes for the better. his initial distrustful mindset was proven right, the second he even *began* to trust someone it blew up in his face. while he was crying for a moment in the face of eva's death, this sorrow was quickly overrun by frustration and anger, particularly at diana's words.

additionally, while i'm not sure if exact genus/species of certain animals were intended or will become important to interpretation, i'd like to draw a connection between damon's snake symbol and a certain genus. from the green color and his american origins, i think he can be connected to opheodrys, a common genus of green snake from north america coming in two species of rough or smooth variety. these snakes are not commonly kept as pets due to their standoffish and defensive nature around humans, making them prone to biting. despite this, they're non-venomous and generally harmless. damon makes it clear when confronted that he does not intend to harm anyone. in fact, his monologues show he thinks much more about how he would respond if someone were to attack *him* instead, noting the physical advantage some of his classmates have (rough/smooth green snakes are very small). we can even tie these traits of non-venom back to the prologue trial, where he appeared very hostile despite genuinely thinking he was helping. and of course, a connection can also be made to damon's general personality of being outwardly cold when deep down he's just... a guy who gets easily embarrassed.

now onto diana! first off i was surprised she actually mentioned her animal and how it relates to her, i thought the motifs were going to be more of an unspoken thing. makes me wonder if any other characters will mention their animals. anyway, fun fact! chameleons don't change color to camouflage, they do it for thermoregulation and social signaling. for diana, i'm more concerned with social signaling, as chameleons can change into very bold displays of colors to communicate dominance, as paralleled by diana's bold display at the end of the first trial with the intention of rallying the others behind her. this could be a stretch, but diana's darker/bold color pallet could be a reference to the potential spectrum of colors that a chameleon would display under stress.

i find it funny though, that while diana says that she will adapt like a chameleon, keeping chameleons in captivity is notoriously hard due to their highly specific environmental requirements- be it temperature, humidity, or lighting, they're easy to accidentally kill. diana may claim with a brave face that she has the strength to fight this killing game no matter the struggle, yet someone with the stress sensitivity of a chameleon in a situation like this is doomed to buckle.

I have a really soft and cute au for Lesbian Janet that could work in any universe but I think works best in the Young Justice TV Show Universe.

See, everyone gets really confused when Tim talks about his Mom, sometimes referring to her as Mama. Tim thinks that using two different titles like that should make it Obvious that he has Two Moms but well. The Bats may be Super Geniuses but they are still Idiots. Tim is also an absolute Mama's Boy with Both his Moms. He loves them both So Much.

Oh, where is Jack you ask? He doesn't actually exist. He's the fake name and personality that Tim's Mama came up with and used Magic to disguise as so they could get Legally Married For Tax Benifits. Also to get his Mama a legal identity. Why would she need one of those? Well... as was mentioned, Tim's Mama has Magic with a Captial M. This by extension means Tim is Magic With A Capital M as well. Totally has nothing to do with Janet and his Mama sculpting him from clay and breathing life into him. Woes of pregnancy who? Not Janet that's for sure.

Also Tim does Not tell anyone that he has Magic and he doesn't show it off. The only reason the Bats found out about it is because Tim came to a meeting with Bruce and Diana went "you. Your Magic is Familure but I don't know from where." And Tim was sweating while saying, "Magic? What magic??" And after getting questioned by Diana and Bruce he Caves and tells them a half truth, "fine. I was made from Clay, like you. My Mom didn't want to go through the struggles of Childbirth but still wanted a child. Instead of adopting like any sane and rational person, she made a deal with a God or Godess. I don't know all the details but she owed them something in exchange for Me. I do know the debt has been paid already though."

The debt was simply a tea spoon of blood for the ritual and A Kiss. Janet over paid the second part by a lot.

As for how Janet met and wooed A Goddess? Well, she was on a dig in Greece when her boat she was using to get to another island was caught in a storm and washed up on a different island. The Goddess was expecting violence or anger at being stranded, perhaps even Sorrow. But no, Janet took one look at the Temple in the distance and was pushing past her saying she needed to get to the Temple because it's clearly in *amazing* condition and could bring So Many insights into Ancient Greek culture and building practice. For the first time in decades, as this Random Woman ran her hand along a pillar and started rambling about the design and what the type of collums were called, Circe felt herself blushing.

CIRCE?!?!?

FUCK YEAH.

Anyways, this is absolutely adorable. Fuck. I would love an entire fic of Janet. Here's a general plot line:

Janet hasn't ever really been interested in romance. She's tried dating a few guys in high school for appearance sake, but she usually broke the relationship off when they became too affectionate.

This is when others started referring to her as "cold." She wasn't, but few people got close enough to her to listen to her rambles about ancient civilizations, archeology, and sociality impacts of culture. She enjoyed other stuff, but nothing quite lit her up like those topics did.

In college, she did find and make a few friends with similar interests. This is where she figured out she was into women and not men. The relationships lasted longer, but she was single by the time she graduated with her bachelor's.

Her master's ends up as some sort of work study where she travels the world. She's more invested in her studies and work than relationships at this point. She enjoys learning about people's lives and cultures but doesn't seek out more than friendship.

I'm not sure if Janet has already or is working on her doctorate by the time she ends up lost on an island (or really how archeology even pays bills).

When she arrives on the island, there's a beautiful woman there as well. Janet notices this, but doesn't give a flying fuck in comparison to the architecture.

And Circe? Finds herself amused and confused by this woman who, although is into women, doesn't care about Circe's looks. Janet just keeps asking questions about Circe's life, the temple, the plants, the culture, etc. It becomes endearing watching her work late into the night with her research.

Janet is so enthralled in all that is going on that she doesn't notice Circe's continuous flirting. It's so fucking frustrating for Circe, but makes her unbearably fond as well. Janet starts to consider this drop dead gorgeous woman a close friend of hers as they "work" late into the chatting about ancient Greece, their past experiences, and their lives. Janet, who has some experience with romance but not much, even flirts back. After all, women call each other beautiful all the time and hold hands and shit. Surely Janet can platonically cuddle with her friend while Circe compares Janet's eyes to the night sky.

It's only when Janet is ready to leave that she realizes that she's willing to give up everything she's worked for, all of her findings and education, to have more time with Circe. Janet is in love with her best friend.

Also, Circe is able to get a fake ID as "Jack" due to magic and Janet's connections

Question: Is Meghan plotting something against the Princess of Wales?

Explanation: We know that Meghan is pathologically jealous of Princess Catherine, and that she is usually working (and failing) to make herself looks better than Princess Catherine. Princess Catherine has been in the news a lot recently, not just with the VE Day 80th Anniversary celebrations (in an outfit the papers have linked to Princess Diana) but with having a rose named after her, giving out the QE2 Award for British Design (that looks like a rose) at the British Fashion Council and being called 'the Queen of Style' (the article in The Times). These are events that are sensitive spots for Meghan imo, so I am checking in to see if she planning to target Princess Catherine in any specific way or if it all simply more fuel for Meghan's general jealous stalker vibes.

This is a one card reading

Card drawn: The Three of Swords

Ouch. Meghan is hurt. She is deeply hurt by these articles. The Three of Swords is the card for heartbreak, deep emotional pain, loss, grief, sorrow, trauma etc.

These articles have hit Meghan hard. The energy I am getting from the card is of pain - almost unbearable pain - that this has happened to Princess Catherine and not to Meghan. I can feel envy and anger and a sense of betrayal, but the overall emotion is a sense of 'Why her? Why not me? I'm better than her - skinnier, prettier, more likable - why do you celebrate her and not me?'.

The emotions that come with this are despising the Princess of Wales - the word 'her' comes through as loaded with the contempt Meghan feels for people she sees as rivals - and a real emotional pain that no one recognises how pretty Meghan is, how smart she is, how clever, witty and beautiful she is, how she is so much better than Princess Catherine and so much more suited to be The Princess of Wales and to be adored by millions world-wide. (this is all from Meghan's point of view)

I feel that this pain will be followed by anger for being rejected (no one named a rose after me!), followed by a sense of betrayal (it feels as if she expected Princess Catherine to refuse to have the rose named after her and to say name it after Meghan instead), and then a vindictive lashing out because Princess Catherine received something that Meghan wanted and didn't get, in the form of a plan to destroy something that Princess Catherine holds dear (the energy is very much 'you got something I wanted and didn't give it to me so I will destroy something you have in revenge for being overlooked).

At the moment, though, the overriding emotion is pain. Meghan has been wounded very deeply by these articles and it will trigger a corresponding rage and desire for revenge in her, all directed at Princess Catherine.

Underlying Energy: Justice Reversed

Jutsice reversed is a card of injustice, dishonesty, retribution/revenge, corruption, unfairness, and avoiding accountability.

This is the card of unfairness, and that is exactly how Meghan feels. It is not fair that Princess Catherine got the rose and to give out the award and compared to Princess Diana and called 'The Queen of Style'. It is not fair that Princess Catherine's clothes sell out and Meghan's don't. It is not fair that Meghan can't present fashion awards and doesn't have a rose named after her. She should have all those things, and have them first, because she is obviously more important than Princess Catherine - better dressed, more lovable etc - and it is just not fair that this didn't happen to her.

Very whiney, despairing and vindictive energy, complete with an inflated sense of self importance. Meghan thinks she is the centre of the universe, taken to the nth degree.

The other energy from this card is one of revenge. Meghan is definitely going to plan something vindictive and destructive for Princess Catherine in revenge for Princess Catherine being the one to have the rose named after her, called The Queen of Style, creating the 'Kate effect' etc and not Meghan. As I said above, Meghan is going to go after something that is precious to Princess Catherine and try to destroy it. In Meghan's mind, this is only 'right' and 'fair' after Princess Catherine got what she wanted, and Princess Catherine deserves to be hurt because she took those events away from Meghan on purpose (don't look for logic in that last bit because there isn't any). This revenge is going to involve corruption, dishonesty, and outright lies by people to make it work (e.g. if Meghan goes after Princess Catherine's marriage, she will pay someone to say Prince William sexually assaulted her or had an affair with her and/or left her pregnant, or that he does drugs, or that he beats Catherine - something like that, but not as obvious - it will be a projection of Harry and her own behaviour onto Prince William imo (or whoever she chooses to victimise)). She may go after the Wales children as well and try to destroy them via social media, or after the Middletons. It will be something that she knows Princess Catherine values, and that can be taken down in the public eye.

The card shows two people killing King Agamemnon in his bath, his wife the Queen and her lover, so there will most likely be two people involved in this revenge (Meghan and either Harry or another male). They may also go after The King as a way of bringing Princess Catherine down (again, there is a distinct lack of logic in this line of thought - it is along the lines of 'if we destroy The King them he can't give her [Princess Catherine] any more honours').

Justice can also be a legal card, so this could also be in part a reaction to Harry's failed court case and the emphasis it put on Harry's (and hence Meghan's) complete unimportance in the big scheme of things. There may be something else legal about this as well, or lawyers being called upon to do something stupid/outrageous/beyond their powers, but that energy is not clear at this point in time.

last night i started rereading david copperfield. i've read so much new literature this year, i wouldn't say im "burnt out" but i feel like im cycling through things so fast that i... i dont know. i dont feel like i get to have them melt into me as satisfyingly as they used to although that might also be a product of how i feel about my overall *life* right now, idk. deep stuff but anyway.

i havent read a novel in almost four years. i have been too ashamed to pick them back up and i left off in the middle of the professor by charlotte bronte, which i always felt ashamed for being unable to finish. someday ill reread the beginning and finish it, but yadda yadda yadda i hate that nagging feeling that i HAVE to do something. reading should not feel like a chore. which is also how ive felt about my reading plays at such a quick rate this year. not that its a CHORE, like im not enjoying it, but like it's a daily task im distracting myself with to get some temporary pleasure and im cycling from one to the next at an almost monotonous rate. i can't keep living in my imagination like this. hiding from the world and pouring myself into new ones.

i always figured id want to reread david copperfield someday, too. it's one of my three favorite novels ive ever read (not that ive read SO many novels, but still). i think of it often. and i dont think of it like it's a highly literary or intellectual novel. i think of it like an old sitcom or a newspaper strip. like a victorian peanuts or full house. i've never forgotten a bunch of the characters' catchphrases and i've continued to slip them into conversation with people who don't understand them just to overly-explain a joke that only i'm really going to find funny. because that IS the kind of person i am.

ive only read the first four chapters so far. i just cant wait to get to aunt betsey's place, to be honest. i didn't even think about this part... this is the first novel i'm reading since i became an aunt. i never had a character in the book i related to *too* much; i had certain things in common with dora and i loved her, but we weren't one and the same. but my niece is only two and a half months old and i already feel like oh yeah. oh yeah i'd take this little girl in after she ran away from her abusive boarding school. i'd provide for this girl. i'd raise her with my neurodivergent friend that i live with. i would do ANYTHING for her.

✅ HUMAN ACTS by Han Kang | A series of POVs from the student uprisings in Korea in 1980. Author does show-don't-tell masterfully. Immersive but all the characters are alienated from their own bodies. READ IF: You want to learn about a piece of Korean history or have a visceral reading experience.

✅ WHEN WE CEASE TO UNDERSTAND THE WORLD by Benjamin Labatut | Vignettes on modern science that start out historical and engaging like a pop science book and then turn, at some point, into total fantasy. Really drew me in. READ IF: You want a fast read that's half informative and half magical sci-fi realism.

📘 THE DEATHLESS ONE by Emma Hamm | A princess-witch tries to take back her kingdom with the help of an eldritch entity. Except the entity is just a hot dude with black hair and a sad past who is a god or something now. Wasn't for me, lads. Was not for me. Started super strong with the witchy vibes and then neglected to have any descriptions of the setting from that point on. READ IF: You are deep in a witch phase.

📘 A DANCE OF LIES by Brittney Arena | A dancer is forced to spy for the king who imprisoned her, at a luxurious meeting of other royals. Definitely one of the better romantasy ARCs I read! Lots o' plot, exquisite betrayals, romance that skirts the boundary of being too much. READ IF: You like descriptions of glass buildings.

📘 HOUSE OF THE BEAST by Michelle Wong | Girl soldier serves her house in a competition for being.. like... the best soldier of her house. And she wants revenge for her mom. Also she has an imaginary friend who is a silver haired boy, but also a monster. READ IF: You're okay with the plot starting at the 70% mark.

📘 SILVER ELITE by Dani Francis | Like. It wasn't bad-bad. It was just not good. And the romance was like... How did we get here. I don't know. It really made me think. In a bad way. About ARCs I request. READ IF: Let Cari read it for you.

📘 THE MACABRE by Kosoko Jackson | This is a fantasy/adventure novel, in case you can't tell! Extreme issues with the writing style but the plot is fun and there's a mlm romance that I enjoyed. READ IF: You got into original TV series like The Librarians and that kinda thing.

✅📘 MISTRESS OF BONES by Maria Z. Medina | Adventure-fantasy in where a necromancer desperately tries to bring back her sister. The setting is so unique and beautiful. I really, really liked this one. The romance was sort of an afterthought and I could have done without it. But it was fun! READ IF: Zorro was a sexual awakening for you.

⭐‼️ MINOR DETAIL by Adania Shibli | Post-Nakba limited 3rd person dual pov, one from an occupying commander and one from a Palestinian journalist. Focuses on the rape of a young girl and all that entails. Masterful writing. READ IF: You're prepared for a difficult read that will stick with you.

✅ A SORCERESS COMES TO CALL by T. Kingfisher | Light fantasy about the daughter of a socialite sorceress who is seeking to stop her climb in society. Includes an old lady who raises geese and a solid het romance for her, breaking cycles of abuse, evil horses. Not what I was expecting. READ IF: You need to scratch that Diana Wynne Jones itch.

✅ DIVINE RIVALS by Rebecca Ross | Um? This is a war-time romance between two journalists who both own magical typewriters? It's delightful? The god shit is so out of place. I know this was originally marketed is something very different and it's a sorrow to me it turned into this. Anyway! Enjoyable, cute. It was giving Narnia somehow. READ IF: Pevensies-core romcom means something to you.

WATER MOON by Samantha Sotto | Woman who runs a Ghibli style shop that buys regrets searches for her parents through a series of magicl worlds. The plot was too unfocused for me to get engaged. Magic appears to solve magical problems every few pages. READ IF: You can be in it just for the imagery.

THE HONEY WITCH by Sydney J. Shields | Queer fantasy about a witch who uses honey. Criminal amounts of exposition and showing without telling and a singularly unlikable MC. If it were a children's novel, it would get a pass. Sadly it's only written like one.READ IF: An author repeatedly telling you something is magical and comforting will make you truly believe it.

⭐⭐⭐ BLOB: A LOVE STORY by Maggie Su | Magical realism where a woman finds a blob behind a bar and shapes it into the ideal boyfriend. LISTEN TO ME. None of you get her like I do. A girl can be a failure. A girl can adopt and fall in love with a blob she finds behind a bar. A girl can be an addict and a drop out and try to fix her life and still fuck up. A girl can be unlikable and know she's unlikable and try to change and fail and keep trying!! God!! I'm so upset this book has the rating it does. At the start I thought "Wow, this MC is fucking ass?" and then it's like Hey! Not only is that the point, she's aware in universe that she's being this way and she can't stop. The book is about her trying to stop. MASTERFUL show don't tell, the best unreliable narrator in a long time, and the story is so hopeful in the end! It has a happy ending. Even B(l)ob gets his happy ending. I genuinely loved this. I think I cried twice. Whispered "Oh, no. Girl. No. Oh god don't do it," repeatedly. READ IF: You have hope in your heart and would care for an alien blob fish you found behind a bar. Or if you like watching a non-fatal train wreck that somehow has a happily ever after.

THE WILD HUNTRESS by Emily Lloyd-Jones | A wild huntress partakes in a competition to win a wish from the faerie king, along with two princes. Cool world, MC I didn't get behind, points for sticking to that insane ending ten toes down. READ IF: You aren't tired of beautiful white haired # action girl main characters.

✅ THE SIREN'S CALL by Chris Hayes | Why you should get off your phone etc. I read a lot of non fiction and this wins a prize for being actually well researched and engaging. Didn't stick with me much, but it wasn't bad. READ IF: You need an extra guilt trip to stop doom scrolling.

⭐ FUN HOME: A FAMILY TRAGICOMEDY by Alison Bechdel | Graphic novel about the author/artist's childhood and primarily her parents. Unbelievably engaging, well told, floored me repeatedly. Readable and god will it stick with you. This is more serious than the title would suggest. It's really something. READ IF: I don't know. You like good story telling and are okay with staring out a window for twenty minutes after every other chapter.

✅ THORNHEDGE by T. Kingfisher | Novella about a little fairy lives in the thorny hedge that guards an ancient castle where a princess sleeps. A short, fun read. READ IF: You want a little hit of some classique fantasy.

Except, they never made it out of Monaco. Halfway through their adventure, they ran out of money. The glitz and glamour of the principality had drained their funds faster than they anticipated. In a desperate bid to keep their dream alive, they decided to find work in Monaco until they had enough money to continue their journey or return home.

But they stayed. For her best friend, the decision was driven by an insatiable hunger for adventure and the thrill of the unknown. Monaco, with its opulent casinos, stunning coastline, and vibrant nightlife, was an irresistible playground. Every day brought new experiences, new faces, and the promise of excitement just around the corner.

For her, staying was about something deeper, something more poignant. She was trying to find a place to call home after the devastating loss of her parents. The memories of her past were wrapped in sorrow, her hometown a landscape of grief she wasn’t ready to face. If she had to return, it would be to a cold, empty apartment filled with silent reminders of a life she once cherished. The photographs on the walls, the worn furniture, the lingering scent of her parents’ presence—all of it was too much to bear.

Selling the apartment didn’t feel right either. It was her last tangible connection to her family, a physical space where she could still feel their presence. Every new customer, every unexpected movement, set her nerves alight with anxiety.

Despite her efforts to avoid the memory, it lingered. The dark alley, the rain-soaked streets, the brutal fight—they were always there, lurking just beneath the surface of her consciousness. She found herself jumpy, easily startled, her senses heightened by a perpetual state of fear. The once vibrant city had become a maze of potential threats, each day a challenge to her sanity.

Diana, busy with her own adventures on the yachts, noticed something was wrong but couldn’t quite understand the depth of her trauma. She tried to be supportive, offering distractions and comforting words, but the horror of that night was something words couldn’t soothe. The universe seemed to be playing a sick game of cat and mouse with her and Charles, with each of them constantly missing the other by just a few minutes or a turn of a corner. Their paths continued to intertwine in frustratingly close calls—Charles arriving at a café just as she left, her taking a different route home just minutes before he passed by. The tension built with each near encounter, the stakes rising as both their lives remained suspended in this cruel game.

She tried to maintain a semblance of normalcy, but every creak of her apartment, every unexpected knock, sent her heart racing. She kept the lights off, the curtains drawn, as if hiding from the world would somehow keep her safe. She longed for her friend’s carefree spirit, for the days when her biggest worry was earning enough to continue their adventure. Now, every moment was tinged with the fear of being found.

As the days passed, she realised she couldn’t keep living in fear. The incident had fractured her sense of security, but she was determined not to let it break her completely. She started to devise a plan, thinking of ways to leave Monaco, to start over once again. But the thought of running, of abandoning the life she had built, filled her with a deep sense of loss.

Unbeknownst to her, Charles was closing in. His determination to find her, to make things right, was relentless. He scoured the city, desperate for any clue that would lead him to her. The closer he got, the more his anxiety grew, knowing that confronting her would mean facing his own demons and the possible unravelling of his family’s carefully constructed empire.

In the heart of Monaco, their fates were on a collision course, bound by a night of violence and a web of secrets. The question remained: when they finally met, would it bring redemption or ruin for both of them?

Au where the Justice League discovered Amity Park and actually believed some of what the Fentons were saying. The JL believed that the "beings" on the other side of the portal were animalistic in nature and incapable of higher thought and understanding. She was only living out an obsession or an echo of a person long past. Seeing as they morally couldn't just wipe out an entire race of semi-sentient beings they decided to instead relocate the ones who trespassed into the living realm to areas better suited to fulfill their obsessions without harming the people around them. He knew he would have to be more careful as Phantom, but he always made sure to book it when he felt the JL getting near to his territory. The problem occurs when Phantom had just caught some blob ghosts his parents had been chasing when he felt the sting of a tranquilizer dart hitting him in the back. Then everything went dark.

Life Alert (PeePaw, Please, I'm Begging) G

The Flash Family is at their wits end as humanity is cannibalized by a hivemind virus. As the last few survivors die one by one and the heroes run out of time and solutions, Barry, Wally, and Bart are forced to use Flashpoint as their final attempt to make things right.
