Dear Girls,

Throughout college and until early 20s, I thought using dating apps will let me find the one easily; getting to know each other and entering a vow of commitment as if it's the most simplest thing to do. But now that I'm 26, thriving in a foreign country, starting from the ground up on a job that I thought wouldn't be of any help when I grow up, and a pocket that's almost empty, I realized that we should date to explore and not to simply get into a relationship because not everyone we meet is destined to stay with us and it took me a while to perceive it positively.

We may have spent plenty of time on the wrong ones but those dates we've gone out to somehow helped us grow. It made us realize what we want from a partner, what makes our standards and how we live up to them, what we want to be like in a relationship, how we want to be pursued to be able to commit, and how we want to be treated physically and emotionally. It may also help us become better versions of ourselves by being confident in front of the unknown, to be out in the vast possibilities of life, and to traverse the unfamiliar. Through those attempts into serious and unserious dating, we were able to know ourselves better. We may not end up with the one for now but we ended up valuing ourselves more and that's a lot more necessary because it will be easier to find happiness within us and the joy that the other person would bring is just an additional in our cup.

So, don't be afraid to date and stop thinking that you're only going to waste your time and energy in dressing up for someone who is unsure of your presence. Who knows, it may end up in favor. And if not, then so be it. Being present is still an experience and the things you've been through is worth remembering in case another one comes along... until the right one comes along.
