It's been just barely three days since the announcement of DJ Qualls and Ty Olsson's engagement, and after seeing the interview DJ did on a podcast where he broke the news, I am struck by the parallels between his comment above and things both Michael and David have said over the last five years about growing old together.

I can still remember when Michael first posted the tweet in the screenshot in 2019, and how much it stood out to me because of what was left unspoken. That he's thought about Aziraphale and Crowley growing old together. That he doesn't separate Aziraphale from him or Crowley from David--something we knew five years ago, and have become even more keenly aware of now--and was maybe, by extension, thinking of him growing older with David.

This only seems like it was cemented further by what we saw in the GO 2 interviews last year. Michael is again talking about Aziraphale and Crowley being old, but more specifically about him and David playing them that way. Seconds later, the idea of a theatrical tour is mentioned, and this time it's David who becomes the more vocal one. In this one entire moment, we have Michael revisiting that idea of playing the characters old, and David responding in a way that lets us know--without hesitation, without question--that he very much enjoys the thought of growing older with Michael.

So in thinking of what DJ said about Ty and how he wants to grow old with the person he loves, it just seems so incredibly similar to what Michael and David have said and are saying now. That they are going to be old men together, however that might look, in whatever form it could take. And given the incredibly positive reaction from the fans toward DJ and Ty (which Michael may have seen, since he does follow Misha Collins, who tweeted about the news), I would just like to hope that's what would be in store for Michael and David, too...

If David and Michael ever wanted to say that they were in a relationship, what exactly the fuck would they have to do??!? Apparently posting a pic of the two of you kissing, and calling each other love and my love isn’t enough!

@ingravinoveritas ahhhh the parallels are just so… honestly, yes of course they love acting with each other, but also considering their life circumstances, it’s like they’re living the fantasy of actually being together, hence pushing so hard for working together, especially as a duo. It’s opaque but using acting is a brilliant non-disguise. abso-lutely down bad, I forgot how flirty those interviews were

@cloud-based-and-rainpilled I absolutely love the way you phrased this, and I fully agree. "Living the fantasy of actually being together" is a perfect description for it.

I think that's why the parallels with DJ and Ty just struck me so much (meeting on set, starting off as friends, the relationship deepening into something more over time, and now they never want to be apart). And Michael and David living that fantasy by saying they want to do a theatrical tour of GO or play them very old seems so transparent at this point, yet still looks opaque to those who aren't paying close enough attention. Because when you think about it, what is really so different about DJ saying he and Ty are going to be old men together versus Michael and David saying it? How much more can you say "I want to spend the rest of my life with you" without actually saying "I want to spend the rest of my life with you"?

So it is exactly what you said--a non-disguise for something else entirely. It is a pretense, and one that Michael and David (hopefully) won't be needing for much longer. Their feelings were more than apparent in those interviews last year, and I can just imagine what we're in store for once filming on GO 3 starts in January...

It's Coming! Next Week - I Promise

I will be starting to blog regular, detailed posts of the progress from start to ongoing to finish of creating an as close to screen accurate as possible 99% hand written replica of the infamous John Winchester Supernatural Journal.

I have been extremely busy collating/researching and deep diving into all corners of the web to painstakingly piece everything together.

It's coming along very nicely.

The first post regarding the Journal I am hoping to publish next week. Not entirely sure which day quite yet as both myself and partner work full time and have busy lives with 2 children...but I promise it is coming and I hope you'll like it!

With the wait in the balance I wanted to share our recent experience at the recent Comic Con Wales which we attended on Saturday 10th August this year; and met the one and only Jensen Ackles; along with his Wife Danneel Ackles as well as DJ Qualls (Garth); Samantha Smith (Mary) and Mark Sheppard (Crowley)

It was a great eventful day and we really enjoyed ourselves...so much so that we have booked again to go in November, to Comic Con Liverpool to meet all the Supernatural Guests - Alaina Huffman (Abbadon), David Haydn-Jones (Ketch), Felicia Day (Charlie), Jake Abel (Adam), Jensen Ackles (Dean), Jim Beaver (Bobby) and Mark Pellegrino (Lucifer).

Hopefully the Journal will be completed enough by then for some autographs from the cast :)
