Deep Purple & Jefferson Starship@Grugahalle, Essen, 25.10.2024
When A Blind Man Cries". Schade.

Some veterans' late noughts enthralled them towards the reaches of nostalgia they have mostly avoided for quite a long time. Jefferson Starship, for instance, became closer to the peers of their older version, i.e. Jefferson Airplane. No, they didn't replicate the latter – oh, they tried to many times, but let us talk about this on some other time –, they went all folky. However, they do feel like in the spirit closer to the 60's than they have ever been, but there is a question – is this a good thing? Look, Jefferson's Tree Of Liberty should be seen as a nice collection of tunes, which might be a problem. Sure, way too many of their colleagues settled for being nice in order to appease their fans who – my view on how they observe their base – don't wish to be confronted.

Still Delivering: David Freiberg Turns 85
Jefferson Starship’s pilot turns 85 today.
Born Aug. 24, 1938, David Freiberg is the only remaining member of the group, a Jefferson Starship in name only that’s spent this summer opening for Bret Michaels and Night Ranger.
He is considered, per the JS website, “the band's Buddha and guru.”
Though he’s not a household name, Freiberg has been a part of the San Francisco scene since the San Francisco scene has been.
The singer and multi-instrumentalist co-founded Quicksilver Messenger Service in 1965 and joined Jefferson Airplane in 1973 just as it was coming in for a final landing.
He was back in the cockpit when Paul Kantner launched Jefferson Starship a year later. Freiberg is still jetting around under that moniker, unsavory as it may be in the wake of Kantner’s 2016 death. But if the music keeps him young, may Freiberg continue for years to come.

Synopsis:
The Enterprise is in an escort mission. A planet named Sherman is passing thru a famine and need the help of the Federation. There are two robot cargo ships carrying the quintotriticale, a special grain seed on the way to help the people of Sherman.
Tumblr media
On the way to the planet, the Enterprise intercepts a Klingon battle cruiser attacking a single-passenger Federation scout ship. Kirk orders to advance the ship on warp 6 and Scott the rescue of the scout ship's pilot using the transporter.
Tumblr media
Koloth, the Klingon cruise commander acuses the pilot of ecological sabotage and makes use of a new energy weapon to paralyze the Enterprise. To counter the Klingon's enrgy field, Kirk orders to bring the robot ships from different angles, so Klingon cruise ship's energy will be depleted and has to run away.
Tumblr media
There is no other than Cyrano Jones and his infamous tribbles. This time, Jones claim that tribbles don't reproduce, they got fat. At first, Jones refuses to tell Kirk the reasons on why the Klingons are prosecuting him but later he confesses he sold tribbles to the Klingons. And he also stole a tribble predator called a gloomer.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
As one of the robot ship was severely damaged, its cargo was transported to the interior of the Enterprise. Due to lack of cargo space, the grain was store between the halls of the ship. Scott advices Kirk about having both grains and tribbles aboard.
Tumblr media
Once the Klingon cruiser refills its energy, it goes back to attack the Enterprise. Kirk send the second robot ship as a evasive manuver and it goes hit. During the battle, the containers of the quintotriticale and the tribbles ate much of it. Making them to grow fatter so very fast.
Spock devise a strategy to send the most of the fluffy critters to the enemy's battlecruiser. After a period of hesitation, Jones accept to deliver the gloomer back to the Klingons. Inside the Klingon cruiser, Koloth orders Korax to shoot the fattest tribbles, but it makes the situation worse for them. Even the gloomer runs away from the giant critters.
McCoy founds a way to get the tribbles back to their normal size. They hope the Klingons find the same manner to control them. Scott realizes if they have to got tribbles, it is the best they are small.
Fascinating Facts:
This is a sequel for an episode also written by Gerrold for The Original Series, “The Trouble With The Tribbles. This sequel was originally devised for the third season of TOS, but it was turned down by that season's producer, Fred Freiberger.
David Gerrold made an animated cameo appearence on this episode as an ensign at the transporter room. With any single line.
Tumblr media
Cyrano Jones was voiced by the same actor who originally performed the character in the TOS episode, Stanley Adams.
Tumblr media
The Klingon commander, Koloth was performed by William Campbell in the TOS episode but in this episode was vocally performed by James Doohan.
Tumblr media
In the TOS episode, most of the tribbles were brown and some white, but in this episode were pink. The reason: the series director, Hal Sutherland was color blind.

Price: [price_with_discount] (as of [price_update_date] - Details) [ad_1] 36 Disturbing True Crime Stories of Murder and Deception Readers Love This Series - Over 7,000 Five-Star Ratings on Amazon & Goodreads Three Book Collection: Volumes 7, 8, and 9 of the True Crime Case Histories Series (2022) *** This series can be read in any order ***If you’re a fan of true crime, you’re undoubtedly familiar with the big-name cases: Ted Bundy, BTK, David Berkowitz, Christopher Watts, Diane Downs, Casey Anthony, Jeffrey Dahmer, Jodi Arias, Ed Gein, etc. The list of well-known, notorious cases throughout history is seemingly endless. Books, websites, podcasts, streaming television series, and magazines are filled with their abhorrent tales of mayhem. They’re some of the most foul killers the world has ever known. In my books, I do my best to find stories you may not have heard of. To do this, I count on my readers to send me stories that may have gone forgotten and aren't found all over the internet. Inside, you'll find 36 True Crime stories from the 100 years. Many of which you may never have heard of. You'll read the story of five-year-old Stephanie Hebert, who walked only three houses down her quiet suburban sidewalk and disappeared forever. Her case went cold for forty years before other children from her neighborhood came forward in their adulthood with information leading to the killer. There’s the story of the sadistic mother who viewed her children only as the spawn of their demon father, torturing them for their entire short lives. You’ll also read of the deranged husband and wife team who started their own cult and made it their life’s mission to rid the world of witches. Another story tells the disheartening tale of a toddler’s skeleton found in a suitcase on the side of the road. Motorcyclists discovered her mother’s skeleton more than 600 miles away. Five years had passed, with no one even realizing they were missing. There’s also the heartbreaking story of a single mom, drowning in debt, who did the unthinkable for insurance money. Many of the stories in this book feature women killers, three of whom took the time to meticulously dismember their victims—a task that can take great strength. Another woman manipulated her two teenage boys into killing for her. Plus many more disturbing stories. The stories in this volume are shocking and exhibit human behavior at its absolute worst. Pure evil. However, these things really happen in the world. We may never understand what goes on in a killer’s mind, but at least we can be better informed. Included in this volume: Stephen McDaniel, Lauren Giddings, Leonard Tyburksi, Dorothy Tyburksi, Cheryl Knuckle, Greg Rowe, Ellen Boehm, Bevan Spencer von Einem, Alan Barnes, Neil Muir, Peter Stogneff, Richard Kelvin, Omaima Nelson, Betty Freiberg, Kimberly Hricko, Steven Hricko, Hilma Marie Witte, Sky McDonough, Leanna Walker, Carol Carlson, Daniel Carlson, Gerard John Schaefer, Evans Ganthier, Rebecca Koster, Gary Vintner, Mikhail Drachev, Chris Andrews, Dennis Tsoukanov, Sean Southland, Konstantin Simberg, Jason Massey, Brian King, Christina Benjamin, Sheila Keen, Debbie Warren, Michael Warren, Marlene Ahrens, Charles Albright, Travis Lewis, Martha McKay, Grant Amato, Cody Amato, Chad Amato, Margaret Amato, Robert Willy Pickton, Marty Dill, Heather Teague, Joe Ball, Jared Chance, Ashley Young, Theresa Knorr, Robert Knorr, William Knorr, Jason Vendrick Franklin, Stephanie Hebert, John Joubert, Danny Jo Eberle, Christopher Walden, Ricky Stetson, Anna Maria Cardona, Lazaro Figueroa, Charles Schmid, Jeremy Gipson, Jessica Thornsberry, Justina Morley, Domenic Coia, Nicholas Coia, Eddie Batzig, Jason Sweeney, Angela Stoltd, Jimmy Sheaffer, Vincent Tabak, Joanna Yeates, Edmund Arne Matthews, Lisa Ann Mather, Daniel Holdom, Karlie Pearce-Stevenson, Khandalyce Pearce-Stevenson, James Carson, Michael Bear, Suzan Bear, Susan Barnes Carson From the Publisher

Song Of The Day - Jan 27th '23
Jane - Jefferson Starship
Some days the creative writing muse decides to abandon me. Today is one of those days. This post will be shorter, but that doesn't diminish the value of this song. This song is an absolute banger and I will scream it from the rooftops.
My dad introduced me to this song. He was never really big into music. My aunt was, so he'd just listen to whatever she had, or whatever she listened to on the radio. When my dad discovered the wonderful world of music streaming services, he slowly started putting together playlists with songs from back in his day. Back when I still lived at home, we would put on music while we did the dishes after dinner. Sometimes we'd listen to my oldies playlist so he'd know the music (now most of my music is pre-1980 and he still doesn't know half of it), and sometimes we'd listen to his playlist. We'd dance and sing in the kitchen and we'd annoy my mother with all of this music that wasn't Chris Tomlin. Jane was one of the songs on my dad's playlist, and boy did I love it.
It's a true rock and roll love song, upbeat, rough and rowdy, and infectious. You can't help but dance when it comes on. It has all of these beats that are perfect for posing. It has highs and lows and beautiful vocals from David Freiberg. Everytime this song comes on when I'm dancing with friends at my local frat (I always curate the queue to appeal to a wide audience), I get possess by this rock and roll entity, and suddenly, I'm in 1979, dancing with my dad at some youth event in Charlotte NC.
I love my dad dearly. I like to think I'm his favorite. I was never the favorite of either of my parents growing up. I was the kid they didn't have to worry about. But now, after we've all basically turned out one way or another, my dad and I have the most in common. We have a love of 70s soft rock and slow card games. We go into grocery stores and come out fifteen minutes later with exactly what was on our list. Neither of us really like Tom Cruise. We both love Rocky Road ice cream. And we both love this song.
