Yellow or Yarrow (your preferred Soulmate AU for them) There's this thought in my head that has been circling for a while that kind of connects to the whole multiverse thing going on with Darkest Hour. A sort of more relaxed, less complex thing carried on from Shattered Grid. I would very much like the others that got snapped up and turned by the weird Angel guy from Dark Specter's forces to awaken their memories of the Grid shattering, everyone freaking out about how "this has all happened before, why didn't we remember until now?!" and looking towards the Mighty Morphin team for answers. Everyone except the Cosmic Fury/Dino Fury (they were in the mass layout last issue, but I can't tell to what extent) who happen to have adult, post-One and Always Billy as a Mentor. I would very much like Javi and Amelia to have an AU scenario to end up following his instructions to have them assist the Mighty Morphin team however they can while Billy and Solon direct the others (Fizzy, Ollaiyon) into working out in the field against the forthcoming lava zombies that you can bet your ass would freak the hell out of everyone once they realized Coinless Zack and Skull were on the ground and couldn't help but follow orders. Ideally, it would be really fun to play with Javelia being ultra badass on the battle field. Something fun for them while everyone else is kind of having a shit time.

Sexual/Sleep Preferences

Amelia flops and wiggles and moves around in her own bed so much that it really would be a trick if Javi didn't bounce and just end up sleeping on the floor with all the blankets more often than not. Seriously, he once woke up to find he was sucking on her big toe and immediately spent ten minutes brushing his teeth with the bathroom door locked so he could...manage on issue with himself.

Javi looks like a dead body when he sleeps. It's very disconcerting because sometimes he will literally fall asleep wherever he might rest his head and Amelia once freaked out because he fell asleep in the passenger's seat of Ollie's car and it was very rainy and he looked like he wasn't breathing.

MPreg/Medical Scenarios & Recovery (from assault, or trauma, or an accident, etc.)

Going off of previous conversations, Amelia can get pregnant, but can also get Javi pregnant. It's just that if she were to get Javi pregnant, with her slimy little retractable appendage that doesn't look too dissimilar to a gross gelatin tentacle, it would happen through...non-traditional means.

Consider, just consider... She has the equipment and because of some weird Rafkonian genetics, she has this instinct to find a genetic loophole and her body decides to exploit it one of the times that neither of them are smart enough to wear a condom. Her appendage goes in through his slit, up into the urethra, into the ejaculatory duct, where it eventually decides inside of the prostate, "this looks like a promising place to leave an egg to fertilize!" But unlike in Omegaverse or Star Trek circles, it takes infinitely longer to realize that anything is different, because the prostate is smaller and gathers less...helpful material...and, hey, alien baby. Javi doesn't start acting different or mention anything is amiss until he is bone tired in the fourth month and realizes he's having trouble digesting food and passing water--oh, and there feels like there's something heavy making it difficult for him to get hard anymore. So they go to Billy, and have some tests, and while Solon recognizes what the tests mean immediately and is overjoyed, everyone else just sort of....stares into space for a few minutes. Javi decides to keep the baby--even after the forty-seven minutes of Billy and Solon and Aiyon going into a great detail about how long it would take (fourteen months), how much inconvenience it would cause (he would lose significantly more weight and have to be put on bed rest for four of the last months, not to mention the fact he'd need a catheter put in and get enemas every other day while on rest) and how incredibly high the chances were that it would either destroy Javi's genitals on the way out or require surgery at the labor. Fortunately, Amelia pledged to stick by him the entire time, do whatever needed to be done to make him comfortable, and spend the rest of her life making up for the mess she'd put him in. (Also, Billy's husband happened to go through similar straights and Billy has had LOADS of time to make sure everything went right for the young man. So it's good.) Being half-Rafkonian at birth, the baby was only about two pounds and presented as intersex for the first year of life. Javi and Amelia didn't really bother teaching them gender roles and everyone else in their social circle was pretty chill about everything as long as they were healthy and happy, so the child is nonbinary and took after Javi in almost everything except the ability to imbibe in common sense--they took after Amelia with cryptid hunting. And long hair. Though both of them had to put up with Izzy cackling for a week when the kid turned twenty and ended up as part of a Ranger team as the Green Ranger who ended up thirsting for their team's Purple the FIRST DAY. They never had more children, because....yeah, Javi ended up with destroyed genitals for a good three years until he finally had surgery to amend the tearing and...other things. And Amelia felt guilty for as long as Javi was in pain, which set her Rafkonian organs into upheaval so she went through what humans called early menopause, but Aiyon explained was her body reacting to stress. But they love each other and love their child and that's all that counts.

How do you think Runningnose felt, looking down from starclan, watching his clan fall apart again. Rowanclaw dead, Tigerheart dead, the leader and deputy dead, the clan in shambles, ready to fall apart and join skyclan or be picked up by the next wannabe dictator that came by.

How do you think he felt watching Puddleshine suggest the most WILD idea, watching a patrol of cats carry his body to the moonpool. Was he proud of this medicine cat who was thrust into the position? Was he angry at himself for not thinking of the idea when Nightstar died. Did he wish he had the strength, faith, or foresight to carry his dying leader to the moonstone like this?

I can only imagine the bittersweet relief Runningnose felt at watching Tigerstar come back, at watching shadowclan’s resurrection, knowing it avoided breaking down again by just a whisker.

I think she can be muggle-born too, but I'm thinking a muggle mother (vaguely related to Hermione's first mom, but not a close enough relation she wouldn't slip through the cracks. Someone estranged from the family probably) who dies in childbirth. The father is a wizard and not aware at all. I've gone through multiple funny options or interesting ones, and I think Alastor Moody being her dad would be delightful.

I get you, I love time travel fics. I'm unfortunately finding the hope blooms AU kind of hard to write at the moment, but I really hope I can get back into it. I'm glad you like it and please don't apologise, I love responding to asks! I don't always see them but I enjoy them when I do.

it's sooo delicious to me. katsuki being so guarded and gruff, but kind of soft too. he just... has a soft spot. he's a fighter and he's blunt, but it's never malicious and he's surprisingly gentle, given that he wears a constant scowl.

n izuku, his campmate and (arguably) the camp leader, who everyone assumes is always kind and gentle and merciful, but has a bit of a taste for vengeance. he's a bit more cut throat than people think when it comes to defending what he cares about.

i like to think about you slowly discovering the kind of person katsuki is in this situation. levelheaded and strong, but emotional in his own quiet way. caring, but not on the surface. an acts of service man. yeah.

Reynauld plays the guitar really well. He doesn’t tell people about it because he never took proper classes and he’s very self conscious about his posture when he plays. Most of all it just goes against his serious image.

Problem is occasionally he feels like he’s in a vacuum when he practices, no feedback no goal to strive for no nothing. Now Dismas doesn’t like music all that much, but sometimes he puts an ear to Reynauld’s bedroom wall when Reynauld plays and afterwards slips a note down the door just to say it sounds great and he likes it.

He doesn’t really know on a scale of 1 to 10 where Reynauld falls but the notes sound coherent so he reckons it’s probably above 5

Mighty Solars in Taken Away From Me Ch. 6

Back in the woods, Terry was stretching his back after waking up. He then turns to see the spot where Cheery was sleeping at, only to find her gone. Terry gasp and rushes over there.

Terry: Oh no. lifts up the blanket that Cheery had Cheery?! Cheery?! Cheery, where are you?! CHEERY!

Suddenly, Terry sees the Emeralnites’ symbol on the ground and sees footprints of the guards. Looking where it leads to, Terry develops a determined look on his face and suits up. Two hours later, Terry made it to the lair, where he hears talking behind the walls. Terry peak with his hearing as he began to overhear Ophelia and the guards talking while Cheery is still asleep.

Ophelia: You idiot! You were supposed to get Mighton with her!

Zalthor: My empress, I conquer that this Mighton is very dangerous. If we lead him back here, he’ll keep on beating up more Emeralnites!

Guard #3: We found this at the market. shows a broken soup bowl with a little splotch of plum colored blood on it

Ophelia: He did this?

Guard #1: Yes my empress. Mighton was at the market stealing soup when he refused to pay for it.

Guard #2: He attack the vendor m’lady. He is proven to be too dangerous and must be put to sleep immediately!

Ophelia: Good. Just as I wanted. But first, we must find Mighton, looking back at Cheery before this little brat escapes again.

Cheery: wakes up as she gasp and looks around Terry? Where are you? looks up and gasp after seeing Ophelia and the guards

Ophelia: Oh good, you’re awake. Think you would never wake up.

Cheery: shuddering Where’s Terry? What the fuck have you done to him? gets grabbed by Zolthar

Ophelia: Don’t worry about your pathetic rescuer. He is not going anywhere, once we find him! laughs evilly

Zolthar: That’s right, your superhero is about to fucking deadmeat once we find him and drain his energy along with the other prisoners?

Cheery: What?! You’re gonna drain our life sources?! Why would you do this?!

Ophelia: Isn’t it obvious?! When I was young, our planet wasn’t so popular, so we found another alien race and uses their energy to make us more recognizable and powerful! But then, a few years later, alien population has started to wipe out and all was left of it was that pathetic, worthless, piece of shit planet Shlorp. After it exploded, those 100 adults and their replicants escaped and scattered across the globe. While they do, four Shlorpians and their Pupa crash landed on Earth and I knew it was the right picking. Earth had so many life forms, until they all relocated on Earth-4 and started their new lives there. It was so fucking frustrating smashes a mirror in rage so I tracked them down and I knew it was only a matter of time before I started kidnapping goddamn humans one by one, until those motherfucking Mighty Solars arrived and fucking ruined everything. I only captured 80 people and when Quasarblast came, they were hard to kidnap since we know how powerful his powers are. Even his family. Ugh. But then, I decided to take away the most important person that he loves the most….. HIS FUCKING DUMBASS HUSBAND, MIGHTON!

Terry/Mighton: gasp silently

Cheery: Oh my God. What?! Qausarblast is Mighton’s husband But, how did you figure out their identities?

Ophelia: Simple. I’ve been watching them the whole time, bitch. I know everything about them, their flaws, their weaknesses. Everything that I needed to know.

Cheery: suddenly began to reach her breaking point for the first time as she growls You…. you bastard! grabs Ophelia Everyone that you held prisoner is gonna fucking die because of you!

Ophelia: That’s right, I’m gonna wipe out all the humans, and those five pathetic aliens too!

Cheery: punches Ophelia in the face I’m not afraid of you anymore, you fucking monster! I’m gonna go find Mighton, and then he’ll stop you once and for-

Suddenly, Cheery gets thrown by the wall by Zolthar as she gets knocked out unconscious as Terry gasp and growls. Terry smashes the walls with his super strength and bust the walls open.

Terry/Mighton: Leave that girl alone you motherfucker!

Ophelia: Ah good, right on time. Guards!

Suddenly, one of the guards throw handcuffs at Mighton’s hands as he gasp. Zolthar then taser Mighton by the neck as he growls. Terry gets up and manage to swoop Cheery in his arms as she moans. Ophelia and the guards laugh evilly. Terry starts panting as he began to grow tried and collapse. Ophelia smirks and snaps her fingers for the signal.

Ophelia: Get Mighton and this pathetic fucking whore into the dungeon cell and make prepare for the ceremony. Our time has come.

Back with the Mighty Solars, the heroes made it to the lair but then saw the prison cells where the missing humans are in.

Sherbert: Oh my God! Guys, those the people that disappeared!

Korvo/Qausarblast: Quick everyone, untie them! Stat!

The Mighty Solars and their human friends help free the captured humans. The humans were grateful that the Mighty Solars and their allies save them.

Prisoner Lady: Thank you so much. You heroic aliens saved us!

Suddenly, a holographic video message shows up on top of the town screen board and in the prison cell with Ophelia on it.

Ophelia: Hello, Mighty Solars! I am Ophelia, the dark empress of the galaxies! I’ve been hoping, waiting and looking for you Shlorpians all my life. But now, I finally did!

Korvo/Quasarblast: Cut the shit out! Where’s Mighton?

Ophelia: I’m sorry Qausarblast, but I’m afraid you can’t see him just yet! Wouldn’t tell anyone about the new evil plan I was hoping for.

Yumyulack/Vil-Gil-An-T: What?

Ophelia: Now that I have some of the humans and Mighton, I can finally finished what I planned a long time ago. I will not only rule over this world but all of the galaxy! evil laughs

Jesse/Fung-irl: What?! No! You’ll never get away with this!

Yumyulack/Vil-Gil-An-T: Fung-irl is right! We’ll stop you!

Ophelia: Stop me? I can say a demonstration is in order! shows a machine Behold

Ophelia presses the button and it shows a giant machine that destroyed a nearby planet. Everyone are terrified by this outcome and realizes what must be done!

Yumyulack/Vil-Gil-An-T: Guys! We have to stop him! He’s crazy!

Korvo/Qausarblast: whispering I-I don’t believe this! We were so focused on saving Terry, we couldn’t see what was right in front of us.

Jesse/Fung-irl: Guys! What do we do now? Wait, where’s Mighton? What have you done to him?

Ophelia laughs evilly but inside Korvo’s head, all he can do is shed tears of despair as he looks back at the happy memories of him and his beloved Terry. Suddenly, Korvo’s eyes glow green as something starts to happen to him. Everyone grows shock and surprised as they watched Korvo undergo a new upgrade. Ophelia, before she can go find Terry as Cheery struggles to break free, looks back at the mentor and gasp in shock

Ophelia: No, it can be.

A green aura surrounds Korvo as he began to have some kind of power up just like when Anne develops her calamity form from the Amphibia episode True Colors.

Ophelia: He’s still connected to his crystal! But that’s impossible!

Principal Cooke: What’s going on?

Jesse/Fung-irl: I don’t know! Maybe it’s a Shlorpian thing!

Korvo’s body then turns all black with aquamarine eyes and aquamarine glowing inside of his mouth. He develops bat-like wings on his back, he develops horns and his teeth became monsterous fangs as he gets up with a revived sense of bravery inside of him.

Yumyulack/Vil-Gil-An-T: That is not a Shlorpian things!

Super Shlorpian Korvo/Qausarblast: Give him back! Give…. him…… BBBBBBAAAAACCCCCCKKKKKKK!

Korvo powers up, grabbed the Replicants and Pupa and flies up to stop Ophelia and rescue Terry and the other captured humans.

Jesse/Fung-irl: calling down Don’t worry about us! Meet us at the top!

Principal Cooke: calling up On it!

The humans and the prisoners follows the newfound super Shlorpian and his family as Ophelia growls in fury and smashes the intercom.

Ophelia: That’s it! I’m getting rid of those Mighty Solars once and for all!

Twin Flames Rewrite: The Darkest Hour

Prologue: Tigerstar meets with Scourge. He promises him part of the forest in exchange for BloodClan’s help taking over the Clans. 

Fireheart proudly watches as Morningflower’s two kits become warriors, named Gorseburr and Quailwing. He feels as though these are also his kits, as he helped to raise them. 

Wildflame is chatting with the elders, and asks about their names, as she doesn’t think those are what they’ve always been called. They tell her about the name changing ceremony. 

Wildflame waits by the border for Sandstar to return. Wildflame is delighted to see her, and then tells her that she wants Sandstar to change Lostleg and Scarface’s names. She then relays the ceremony information to her. 

Sandstar returns to camp from receiving her nine lives and makes Whitestorm her deputy. She also changes Lostleg’s name to Swiftspirit and Scarface’s name to Brightheart. She also gives Thornpaw his warrior name, Thornclaw. She then summons Wildflame, Whitestorm, and Cinderpelt to her den. She tells them about a prophecy she received after her ceremony: Four will become two. Lion and Tiger will meet in battle, and blood will rule the forest.

Wildflame and Graystripe are leaving camp when he suddenly runs full-force at Darkstripe; Wildflame chases after him to find Sorrelkit collapsed on the ground. She quickly brings the kit to Cinderpelt, while Graystripe hauls his brother to Sandstar, who orders him to be watched while they determine what happened. 

Once Sorrelkit recovers, she tells them that Darkstripe fed her the berries as a treat so she wouldn’t tell about a meeting she saw between him and another cat; Wildflame quickly determines the other cat was Blackfoot. Darkstripe is exiled from ThunderClan immediately. 

Fireheart receives Crowpaw as an apprentice, and brings Leafpaw on the territory tour with them so she can collect herbs. He is surprised that Crowpaw is interested in the herbs Leafpaw is collecting, but glad that his daughter is making friends despite not being a warrior apprentice. 

Tawnypaw approaches Wildflame anxiously, and tells her that Bramblepaw has left to join ShadowClan. The pair races to catch up with him; they catch up with him near the border. He explains that he was cleaning Speckletail’s nest when the elder once again blamed him for Snowkit’s death and compared him to Tigerstar. He says that if he is only ever going to be seen as a second Tigerstar, then he may as well go somewhere where they like what they see! 

Wildflame is panicking that Sandstar’s apprentice wants to leave, but also wants Bramblepaw to do what is best for him. She convinces the two apprentices to sit with her; she tells Bramblepaw that he can make his own decisions but that he shouldn’t make big decisions out of anger and impulse. She talks to them about what it is like to have a sibling in a different Clan, and what it is like to switch Clans. She answers the questions they have and helps Tawnypaw come to terms with Bramblepaw’s decision. 

She then asks Bramblepaw if he is sure, and notes that he seems much more confident in his decision to go to ShadowClan now. She then tells him that he will always have a place in ThunderClan if he wants it, and that she will always support him if he needs it. He leaves; Wildflame returns to camp and tells Sandstar what happened. Sandstar is upset that Wildflame didn’t stop him, but soon agrees that Wildflame did the right thing. 

At the next Gathering, Wildflame and Fireheart catch up with each other. Wildflame is delighted to learn that Gorseburr and Quailwing are warriors now; Fireheart is glad to hear that Swiftspirit and Brightheart have been renamed and are doing well. 

Tigerstar arrives with ShadowClan, and starts the Gathering by proposing that the Clans combine as TigerClan. He reveals that RiverClan has already joined; WindClan and ThunderClan erupt into outrage. Sandstar calls for silence, and then says ThunderClan will never join him. Tallstar agrees, and Sandstar begins to tell the gathered Clans about Tigerstar’s most recent attack on ThunderClan. She is interrupted by clouds covering the moon, which Tigerstar uses to end the Gathering. 

Graystripe is worried about his kits, so he and Wildflame sneak into RiverClan territory. Near the camp, they are spotted by Dustpelt, who demands to know what they’re doing here. Graystripe doesn’t want to tell him, but Wildflame explains that they are trying to check on Graystripe’s kits and make sure they’re alright. 

Dustpelt looks worried, then tells them to roll in the mud to disguise their scent and follow him. Graystripe is suspicious, but Wildflame remembers their time together in ThunderClan, and decides to trust him. Their scents now disguised, Graystripe and Wildflame follow Dustpelt to a sheltered area near the RiverClan camp where they can watch what is happening. They watch Stonefur’s execution; Dustpelt and Wildflame must prevent Graystripe from attacking. Dustpelt sends Wildflame and Graystripe to a hidden area in the reeds a distance away from camp; they wait for a while, and then Dustpelt shows up with Featherpaw, Stormpaw, Mistyfoot, and Reedwhisker. Mistyfoot explains that Dustpelt lied to Jaggedtooth and Blackclaw to get the prisoners out of camp, and the former RiverClan cats want to go to ThunderClan with Graystripe and Wildflame. 

The group then makes their way towards ThunderClan, with Dustpelt and Mistyfoot guiding them so that they are not caught by patrols. Near Sunningrocks, they are found by Blackclaw and a small patrol of other warriors. Dustpelt, Graystripe, and Wildflame try to defend the prisoners, but Mistyfoot and Reedwhisker must also join the fight as the ThunderClan cats are outnumbered. They are aided by a ThunderClan border patrol passing by. Ashpaw and Fernpaw are both on the patrol and fight well against the TigerClan warriors. Dustpelt is injured by the TigerClan cats, and Wildflame makes sure he returns to ThunderClan with them, certain that he will be killed if he does not. He expresses concern for his young apprentice, Rowanpaw, but Wildflame insists that he come with them. 

Sandstar is shocked when the cats return, and accepts the RiverClan cats into ThunderClan for as long as they’d like. Wildflame and Dustpelt explain what happened while Graystripe takes the RiverClan cats to Cinderpelt. Sandstar tells Dustpelt he has a place in ThunderClan, if he wants it; he promises to think about it, but is unsure if the Clan will accept him. 

Cinderpelt sees Dustpelt’s injuries and demands that he come to her den; Wildflame and Sandstar share a moment as Sandstar expresses concern for Wildflame’s tendency to get into danger. 

Sandstar makes Ashpaw and Fernpaw warriors for their part in the fight, gaining the names Ashfur and Ferncloud. 

Fireheart and Crowpaw are hunting near the RiverClan border when they hear fighting; Fireheart sends Crowpaw to camp to get help. He races towards the noise to find a border patrol being attacked. He and Quailwing fight side by side against the RiverClan and ShadowClan cats; the fight ends when Deadfoot is killed by Tigerstar. Crowpaw is upset at the death of his father; Fireheart and Quailwing must work together to prevent the apprentice from attacking the TigerClan leader. 

They bring Deadfoot back to camp, and Fireheart sees Leafpaw and Crowpaw sitting together; Squirrelpaw and Darkpaw soon join them. 

Tallstar names Mudclaw the new WindClan deputy; Darkpaw cheers loudly for his mentor. 

In ThunderClan, Sorrelpaw, Rainpaw, and Sootpaw are apprenticed to Sandstorm, Dustpelt, and Longtail respectively. 

At the Gathering, Tigerstar gives WindClan and ThunderClan half a moon to join TigerClan before there is war. The next day, Wildflame and Sandstar go to WindClan and meet with Tallstar. They agree to temporarily unite as LionClan and fight against Tigerstar. 

Half a moon later, LionClan meets TigerClan at Fourtrees to reject Tigerstar’s demand; they are shocked to find BloodClan there as well. When LionClan refuses to submit to Tigerstar, he demands that BloodClan attack, but the Twolegplace cats do not move. Scourge says that BloodClan listens only to him; Sandstar explains Tigerstar’s actions to Scourge, hoping that he will decide not to attack the Clans. Scourge says he will think on what she’s said, and prepares to leave. Tigerstar, furious about this, attacks Scourge, who kills him nine times with one blow. Scourge then gives the Clans three days to leave the forest or BloodClan will force them out. 

Ravenpaw and Barley arrive in ThunderClan, and Barley tells Sandstar about the history of BloodClan. Dustpelt and Ravenpaw have a warm-but-awkward reunion, and Dustpelt apologizes for thinking Wildflame would lie to him about his brother. 

The four Clans unite as LionClan, and fight against BloodClan. In the fight, Darkstripe attacks Wildflame, and is then attacked and killed by Graystripe. Whitestorm is killed by Bone, who in turn is killed by a collection of apprentices from all the Clans. In the fighting, Sandstar names Dustpelt her new deputy, and he defends Rowanpaw, his former apprentice, from an attacker. 

Scourge is finally defeated by Fireheart and Wildflame working together; once he is killed, BloodClan scatters. 

The four Clans return to their territories. Blackfoot (soon to be Blackstar) and Russetfur take charge of ShadowClan. Mistyfoot, Reedwhisker, and Stormpaw return to RiverClan after an apology from Leopardstar, who then makes Mistyfoot deputy, and gives Stormpaw his warrior name of Stormfur. After talking with Wildflame and Graystripe, Featherpaw decides to remain in ThunderClan, and receives her warrior name, Feathertail. Wildflame attends the warrior ceremony of Fireheart’s kits, who are named Darktail and Squirreltail.

He ran ahead, cornering his little brother before he could slip away. He was flanking little Evans’ left as he always seemed to do these days. The other boy with strawberry blond hair and shiny skin was at Evans’ right, eyeing him with a dubious expression. Sirius approved. Protecting their more vulnerable friend was a good choice. He was a bit peeved at being considered a threat, though.

I hope I'm not bothering but for a while I wanted to do an aes of these three together but I never got the inspiration but yesterday after doing a re-reading the muse hit me hard and I managed to do it (As for the colors they only flowed at first I wanted all in black and green maximum with white but Eugène's only ended up being with blue tones and you see with Harry so I just left it that way). I'm on my monthly reread of hope blooms and I couldn't help but wonder what an AU of the AU would look like. For example if Ron and Hermione were also able to come back with Harry, where would they be born? With his pureblood background, Ron would have his pick of relatives. But what about muggleborn Hermione? Would you have picked the Dagworth-Grangers, a line on the brink of extinction revived by her miraculous birth and strong magic, or someone else entirely?

Hm, that's an interesting question!

I'd make Ron a Prewett if I took the easy way out, but I think it could also be really funny if he was reborn a Black because of Cedrella's blood. It could be interesting too. He'd have to adapt to an entirely different upbringing, and I'm sure he'd feel some type of way about being reborn into wealth. Even more if he ends up an only child -- the son of Alphard Black maybe?

(I thought about the Malfoys too, but I don't think they're directly related. Ron would make a hilarious cousin for Lucius Malfoy though, but that's a crack idea.)

For Hermione, I'd keep her as a muggle-born, but I'd give her a Tom Riddle like childhood, I think. She'd make herself a fake identity like she did for her obliviated parents and her Hogwarts letter would name her as Hermione Granger again. I like the idea of the girl who has no blood ties to the magical world being the one who holds on the most firmly to her identity.

I love the Dagworth-Grangers connection though, and if the family lore is expanded, it would have a lot of potential.

I might write a One Shot about that when the main fic is finished, thanks for the idea!

idk if people on tumblr know about this but a cybersecurity software called crowdstrike just did what is probably the single biggest fuck up in any sector in the past 10 years. it's monumentally bad. literally the most horror-inducing nightmare scenario for a tech company.

some info, crowdstrike is essentially an antivirus software for enterprises. which means normal laypeople cant really get it, they're for businesses and organisations and important stuff.

so, on a friday evening (it of course wasnt friday everywhere but it was friday evening in oceania which is where it first started causing damage due to europe and na being asleep), crowdstrike pushed out an update to their windows users that caused a bug.

before i get into what the bug is, know that friday evening is the worst possible time to do this because people are going home. the weekend is starting. offices dont have people in them. this is just one of many perfectly placed failures in the rube goldburg machine of crowdstrike. there's a reason friday is called 'dont push to live friday' or more to the point 'dont fuck it up friday'

so, at 3pm at friday, an update comes rolling into crowdstrike users which is automatically implemented. this update immediately causes the computer to blue screen of death. very very bad. but it's not simply a 'you need to restart' crash, because the computer then gets stuck into a boot loop.

this is the worst possible thing because, in a boot loop state, a computer is never really able to get to a point where it can do anything. like download a fix. so there is nothing crowdstrike can do to remedy this death update anymore. it is now left to the end users.

it was pretty quickly identified what the problem was. you had to boot it in safe mode, and a very small file needed to be deleted. or you could just rename crowdstrike to something else so windows never attempts to use it.

it's a fairly easy fix in the grand scheme of things, but the issue is that it is effecting enterprises. which can have a looooot of computers. in many different locations. so an IT person would need to manually fix hundreds of computers, sometimes in whole other cities and perhaps even other countries if theyre big enough.

another fuck up crowdstrike did was they did not stagger the update, so they could catch any mistakes before they wrecked havoc. (and also how how HOW do you not catch this before deploying it. this isn't a code oopsie this is a complete failure of quality ensurance that probably permeates the whole company to not realise their update was an instant kill). they rolled it out to everyone of their clients in the world at the same time.

and this seems pretty hilarious on the surface. i was havin a good chuckle as eftpos went down in the store i was working at, chaos was definitely ensuring lmao. im in aus, and banking was literally down nationwide.

but then you start hearing about the entire country's planes being grounded because the airport's computers are bricked. and hospitals having no computers anymore. emergency call centres crashing. and you realised that, wow. crowdstrike just killed people probably. this is literally the worst thing possible for a company like this to do.

crowdstrike was kinda on the come up too, they were starting to become a big name in the tech world as a new face. but that has definitely vanished now. to fuck up at this many places, is almost extremely impressive. its hard to even think of a comparable fuckup.

a friday evening simultaneous rollout boot loop is a phrase that haunts IT people in their darkest hours. it's the monster that drags people down into the swamp. it's the big bag in the horror movie. it's the end of the road. and for crowdstrike, that reaper of souls just knocked on their doorstep.
