When his real estate agent showed him a unit in a Mid-Century Modern Condo Community in Arizona, Jevon immediately fell in love with it. Look at the fireplace, it’s a classic, and according to Jevon, it’s electric.
The entire complex was under renovation and wasn’t ready, so Jevon stayed in a hotel for a month.
The galley kitchen was opened up to allow for the floating island and steel support beam. The floating island was his biggest splurge. Well, there has to be at least one, right?
The countertop is Caesarstone. Jevon says, “It was a risk for me to choose orange, I’m thinking, ‘When I buy an orange shirt I like it for about a month, and then I put it away and I don’t ever wear it again. I knew it was going to be a risk, but now I really, really like it.”
About his decor, Jevon says his friends ask where do you possibly find all this stuff?! Glad he got the orange counter- you have to have orange when doing MCM.
Interesting art in the hallway.
He found the vintage diamond front dresser, and 3 years later found the matching headboard!
In the home office he has a vintage Percival Lafer Brazilian leather sofa- looks well worn-in (and expensive). The desk is vintage 60’s Danish teak.
The bathroom vanity looks modern, but he combines old and new. Of course, the bathroom tile has to be mosaic for MCM.
He’s also proud of how he fixed up the outdoor space. That’s some BBQ grill. There’s a lot of privacy here, and it’s got a serene feel. Nice.

Ten peaceful Scandi living rooms that feature minimalist design and natural materials
For this week's lookbook, we have picked ten Scandi-style living rooms from the Dezeen archive that play with textures and showcase natural materials, elegant accessories and muted colours.
Scandi style is a term used to describe designs from the three Scandinavian countries – Sweden, Denmark and Norway – but has also become a catchphrase that denotes minimalist interior design that uses plenty of natural materials, especially wood.
Wooden floors are traditional in Scandinavian homes, where they are often matched with wood details such as panelling and classic mid-century modern furniture.
Scandi living rooms often feature white or pale walls, which are common in the Nordic countries where the long, dark winter months mean people tend to choose light colours for their interiors.
Many of the ten interiors below also play with textures, adding fluffy throws to simple sofas, tactile rugs to wooden floors and rattan and leather seating.
This is the latest roundup in our Dezeen Lookbooks series providing visual inspiration for the home. Previous roundups include L-shaped kitchens, interiors that use internal glazing and inviting courtyards.
Gjøvik House, Norway, by Norm Architects
Located an hour outside of Oslo, Gjøvik House comprises six interconnected blocks with interiors featuring mottled grey walls, earthen textiles and warm wooden panelling.
Pale grey hues were used for the living room, which has a soft Bollo chair designed by Andreas Engesvik for Foglia and a modular sofa in a neutral grey tone.
According to the architect, the spaces were designed to have a "cosy and inviting feel, where you can truly hibernate while taking shelter from the frigid days of Nordic winter."

TypeO Loft, Sweden, by TypeO
The living room area of creative studio TypeO's guest loft in southern Sweden features floor-to-ceiling glazing that opens up onto a large balcony.
A coffee table by Isamu Noguchi for Vitra matches the wooden floor and beams and is complemented by Ligne Roset's Togo armchairs in black leather. Sculptural decorative details add an art gallery-like feel to the bright living space.

20 Bond Apartment, US, by Home Studios
Design firm Home Studios filled the 20 Bond Apartment in New York with bespoke furniture and vintage finds, including a leather Safari chair by Danish designer Kai Winding.
An entire wall is taken up by a bespoke shelving unit that the studio made from oak wood and brass, adding another Scandinavian-style feature to the room. A rattan table and a pink resin side table by Sabine Marcelis add a tactile touch.

Sculptor's Residence, Sweden, by Norm Architects, Menu and Dux
Norm Architects, Menu and Dux collaborated on this installation that was designed to resemble the "eclectic living quarters of a creative." Muted brown and beige hues lend the interiors an earthy, organic feel, which is contrasted by the elegance of the black marble table and black sculptures.
Menu's Hashira floor lamp adds a subtle nod to Japanese interiors, and its sleek surface offsets the knobbly texture of the brand's Eave Dining Sofa Bench.

Villa Weinberg, Denmark, by Mette and Martin Weinberg
Wienberg Architects collaborated with fellow Danish architects Friis & Moltke to overhaul the 1940s Villa Weinberg. The result is a warm, inviting home lined with oil-treated oak walls.
The wood-clad living room also has a simple wooden coffee table and poufs for lounging on, as well as a built-in leather-clad bench. A rice lamp and sheepskin throw add texture to the wooden interior.

Solviken, Sweden, by Johan Sundberg
Scandi living rooms tend to have very neutral colours, but in this space in a Swedish holiday home, two comfy sofas in a calming seafoam green create a bright focal point in the room. The hue is picked up by a painting at the end of the large, open-plan kitchen and living room.
Small unpainted wooden coffee tables match the floor and the wooden storage cabinets alongside one wall.

London townhouse, UK, by Daytrip
Design studio Daytrip's renovation and expansion of an east London townhouse includes a living room with white walls, a wooden floor and furniture in muted colours.

Agilenano - News: 2020-04-28
I’ve already shared two of my favourite exhibitions from Stockholm Design Week – ‘The Sculptor’s Residence’ and ‘The Archive’ – so today I have a round-up of interesting product launches from the Stockholm Furniture Fair, which takes place at the same time. The largest trade show in the Nordic design world, it brings together more than 700 brands – mostly from Sweden, Denmark, Norway and Finland, but a few from further afield, too. It’s also where many companies choose to unveil their latest pieces, and I’ve picked out some of my favourites below. So, make yourself a cuppa, sit back and feast your eyes on these beautiful new designs… Relaunched pieces from Fredericia’s archives First up is Danish brand Fredericia, which has long been a favourite of mine. Its focus has always been timeless, long-lasting design and for 2020 it has chosen to relaunch several classic pieces from its archives. One is the ‘Ditzel’ lounge chair, created in 1949 by Nanna Ditzel (later responsible for Fredericia’s iconic ‘Trinidad’ chair) and her husband Jørgen. It marked a departure from the upright, rigid chairs that were conventional at the time, and its curved shape was intended to give people the freedom to sit in new, more relaxed ways. The updated version is made from PUR foam with a steel frame, wooden legs and a choice of upholstery, and will be available from September. The other pieces, which are due to go on sale this spring, were all the work of Fredericia’s first design director, Børge Mogensen. The ‘BM61’ and ‘BM62’ chairs (the latter with arms, the former without) are simple yet striking, with a solid wooden frame and a choice of cane wicker or linen webbing for the seat and back. The ‘Canvas’ chair, meanwhile, has a clean-lined oak frame and chunky armrests that echo Mogensen’s famous ‘Spanish’ chair, but with canvas rather than leather for the seat and back. It was designed just before his death in 1972 and has never been put into full production before now, but it makes an excellent addition to Fredericia’s range. Versatile furniture and lighting from Carl Hansen & Son Børge Mogensen was also the man behind two pieces being relaunched by Carl Hansen & Son: the ‘BM0865’ daybed (available from May) and the ‘BM0488’ table bench (available from September). Both were originally showcased at the Copenhagen Cabinetmakers’ Guild furniture exhibition in 1958 and formed part of Mogensen’s ‘building furniture’ concept, through which he aimed to create enduring designs that could be added to and adapted over time in response to changing needs. The daybed is made up of modular oak seats, soft cushions and cylindrical head and armrests that can be used in all sorts of different combinations, and it suits a wide variety of spaces. The bench is crafted from solid oak with a woven top and is similarly versatile, working well as a seat, a side table, a coffee table or a surface for books and other items. Also on show on Carl Hansen’s stand – and in some of the below press photos – was the new ‘MO’ series of floor, table, wall and ceiling lamps. The company’s first collaboration with Danish designer Mads Odgård, it consists of simple lacquered-steel shapes that symbolise light’s comforting effect on people and is designed to last for decades without dating. It will be on sale from October, with prices starting at £263 / €300 per lamp. Scandinavian classics and contemporary tables from Warm Nordic There was yet another relaunch from Warm Nordic – a young Danish brand unveiled at the fair in 2018. It was founded with the aim of showcasing long-lost mid-century pieces alongside contemporary designs, and its latest addition is ‘Dwell’ – a family of compact sofas and armchairs first created by architect Hans Olsen in the 1950s. The curved shape and tapered wooden legs form an elegant yet striking silhouette and there’s a wide range of upholstery options to choose from, including leather and tactile bouclé. It’s set to go on sale this spring, with prices ranging from €1,800 to €5,250. Warm Nordic also used the fair to showcase its new ‘Affinity’ dining table. The work of architect / design duo Halskov & Dalsgaard, it combines a bevelled linoleum top with slimline metal legs and beautiful cane detailing. It comes in round and elliptical versions, with a choice of three muted colourways, and it too will be available in the spring. Prices start at €2,030. New additions at Artek New on Artek‘s stand were two pieces designed by French duo Ronan & Erwan Bouroullec: the ‘Rope’ chair and the ‘Tupla’ wall hook. Both combine simple-looking silhouettes with sophisticated construction and stay true to the Finnish brand’s ethos of blending art and technology (hence the name Artek). The chair is described as ‘a line drawing translated into space’ and consists of a steel-tube frame threaded with rope that forms the back and armrests. It’s surprisingly comfortable as it bends to the sitter’s shape, and it comes in black with a black polyester rope or light grey with a natural flax rope. The wall hook, meanwhile, is made from die-cast zinc and intended to add beauty to an everyday object, with elegant loops that are as lyrical as they are functional. Sculptural minimalism from Kristina Dam I always look forward to seeing the latest pieces from Copenhagen-based designer Kristina Dam, who describes her aesthetic as ‘sculptural minimalism’, and her spring-summer 2020 collection certainly didn’t disappoint. Among the new additions on her stand were the understated ‘Capsule’ glasses and carafe, the angular ‘Pedestal’ table and a bench to match the existing ‘Curved’ side table. I also spotted brown- and black-leather editions of the popular ‘Curved’ pouf, a new full-sized version of the ‘Rotating’ mirror, and a beautiful porcelain sculpture called ‘Brick’, which takes its cue from Ancient Greek architecture and features a single unbroken line. My favourites, though, were the powder-coated steel ‘Bauhaus’ lounge chair – a tribute to the famous Bauhaus art school, available in black or white and suitable for indoor and outdoor use – and the painted-glass ‘Dual’ vases, which come in soft, earthy colours and can be stood on either end, giving you two different designs in one. Many of the new launches are available now; others are coming soon but you can sign up for alerts via the website. New colours and options from String Furniture Swedish stalwart String Furniture used the fair to display several new additions, including a rich brown version of its iconic modular shelving system and the full roll-out of its beige colourway, first launched for some elements last year. There was also a new utilitarian version of its compact ‘Pocket’ shelf unit featuring perforated metal and a lipped edge. It was created by Swedish duo Anna von Schewen and Björn Dahlström, who sought to reinterpret the design while retaining the essence of the original, and is ideal for kitchens, bathrooms, utility rooms and garages. The holes can be used for hanging hooks, rails and other accessories, and it comes in three colour choices – white, taupe and neon orange – that were developed in collaboration with stylist Lotta Agaton. Sustainable wooden furniture from Nikari Finnish brand Nikari had largely escaped my radar before now, but I was very taken with the way it combines modern design with traditional craftsmanship. I was also impressed by its commitment to sustainability, which extends as far as powering its head office, studio and workshop with renewable energy from the hydro-power plant located next door. Its pared-back wooden pieces encompass creations from the likes of Alvar Aalto, Jasper Morrison and Claesson Koivisto Rune, and are made from responsibly sourced wood finished with natural lacquers. New for 2020 is the understated ‘Storia’ stool, designed by Nikari founder Kari Virtanen, and Jenni Roininenat’s ‘Basic’ table, which comes with round or rectangular ends. Both are understated and timeless, and I can see them fitting seamlessly into all sorts of different settings. All-new accessories from &tradition As well as displaying its recently launched pieces by Peter Hvidt and Orla Mølgaard Nielsen, &tradition unveiled ‘Collect’, a line of elegant and understated home accessories created by Space Copenhagen. Designed to complement the Danish brand’s range of classic and contemporary furniture and lighting, it includes cushions, throws and bedspreads in earthy hues such as beige, burgundy and terracotta. All are made from soft and cosy natural materials, with linen and merino wool alongside organic cotton. There’s also a series of hand-crafted concrete planters, which can be used indoors and out and come in three different sizes. The full collection should be available very soon, although prices have yet to be confirmed. The ‘Roadie’ bench from Massproductions Last but not least is Sweden-based Massproductions, whose new ‘Roadie’ outdoor bench was named ‘Best Product’ in the fair awards. The creation of the brand’s British co-founder Chris Martin, it was inspired by the steel crowd control barriers found at rock concerts and is made from strong yet lightweight aluminium. The high back is designed for comfort, and the curved shape means sections can be placed together in a circle to encourage conversation; it’s also stackable for easy storage. It comes in brushed silver, pale yellow and dark green finishes, and matching seat cushions are available. Prices start at €2,060. Rocking Chair
Paradox, conflicts, contradictions and confoundedness sum up mind and life. And so our life has acquired a place where we can find soothe and peace. Well, it is natural that after a tiring work, nevertheless younger’s or elder’s and even aged people, everyone must crave some lonely and me –time. That time will not be utilizable for some work instead would be the most precious and away from work time. And in that case rocking chair would be a great option as its gentle motion and pace make everyone just so happy. Everybody loves to sit in a rocking chair as its periodical motion exaggerates the calmness with moiety outburst of happiness. The classic rocking chair is a commonly underrated item of furniture.
What is a rocking chair?
A rocking chair or rocker is a type of chair that is fitted on the bottom legs and is fitted with two curved bands (also called rocker), which connect the legs on each side. Rocking chairs are most often made of wood and have only two contact points with the floor to allow the occupant to rock back and forth, either by moving his weight or pulling gently on his hands. Most of us associate these chairs with Mom and Pop's fond childhood memories of a slow morning and lazy afternoons. And rightly so, because childcare also requires rocking chairs. New parents use rocking chairs quite often to soothe babies with their soft cradling movements. It may fold some rocking chairs. In many United States airports, rocking seats have taken off. North Carolinas CTL chairs provide daily passengers with a break from contemporary air travel pain. An outline can be made that the rocking chairs are favorites of travels connecting from JFK and other North Eastern points of embarkation.
Rocking Chair plot, history, and design
Infographics Source:- Godby Home Furnishing Found to have used rocking chairs as early as the 1700s. In early 18th century North America it had a touch of success and were simply jury-rigged seats with rockers added to it. A common but historically imprecise theory is that Benjamin Franklin invented rocking chairs. The rocking chair craze had spread to England in 1725 and so on, in most households at the time, wicker rocking chairs had more or less cemented their place as American and English staples. A little over a century later, the first bentwood rocking chair was designed by German craftsman Michael Thonet-a designer piece popular for its grace, beauty, and lightweight. The 1900s saw the rocking chair witnessing several developments. Because of their simplicity and versatility, folding rocking chair models were taking root; families could take them out with little trouble on picnics or long road trips. It isn't uncommon nowadays to see designer rocking chair pieces decorating most families ' homes.
Different types of rocking chair
Now there are some types of rocking chairs. Let us see some of them! Traditional Rocking Chair The classic rocker is in there. It features bent legs that act as the movement with which the chair rocks back and forth. Usually, this style of the rocking chair is the most common type and the most inexpensive. It's also popularly the most robust out of all types, with its time-tested architecture. This type's downsides include its relatively rigid and inflexible nature and its usually large amount of floor space required to be usable. Glider Rocking Chair The second type is the rocker glider. A little more advanced than the conventional rocking chair style, glider rockers use levers and hinges to rock the chair back and forth on a flat plane, as opposed to the traditional arc. These chairs take up less space and are considered more convenient than other rocker styles. However, the glider rocker costs a little more than other types because of its complex design and is more likely to break. Spring Rocking Chair Spring rockers are a bit of a mix of the popular rocking arcing chair and the rocking glider chair. Unlike traditional ones, they rock back and forth but are supported by mounted springs which trigger the rocking motion. The device is a little bit of a complex piece of engineering; most models prefer to hide it under a box at the chair base to prevent unwarranted touch and for esthetic benefit. These types of rocking chairs are durable and at the center of traditional rocker and glider rocker price points. Swivel Rocking Chair Swivel rockers are those who use a mechanism that makes it possible to rock on more than one motion path. This kind of functionality can be applied to glider or spring rockers to enhance their functionality and comfort. As with the other styles, a more complex design brings about the increased comfort and versatility of the swivel rocker. As such, its price and breakage risk is also on the rise. Reclining Rocking Chair The final rocker style worthy of note is the reclining rocker. These rockers, as the name implies, are the ones with functionalities that cause you to recline the chair back. As such this is popular among homeowners who enjoy lounge chairs in particular. Such chairs typically don't require you to concurrently use their rocking and reclining functions; you choose one or the other. That is in the interest of health. The complexity of the design makes this one of the pricier rocking chair types, too. Different varieties are also drawn from their aesthetic types, such as the Victorian, Glam, Church, and Neo-colonial Mid-century. There are also many fabrics to choose from wicker, solid wood, sturdy plastic composites, fabric, and bronze. Rocking chair technology has extended a bit of justice since Whistler's Mother's Day. There are a few basic types of rocking chairs, each of which can be designed to a particular style or built from various materials. Many that rocking chair models include Mission, Danish Traditional, and Plush. Common construction materials include wood, wicker, and PVC, with fabric, leather, or vinyl pads. Also, read:- Best L shape sofa in India Best Sofa Set Design In India
How rocking chairs can have versatile roles to play?
They also have different uses, along with the types of rocking chairs, including nursing a baby or rocking the baby to sleep, sitting on the front porch or backyard patio and even improving mental well-being. Something more can be added too! Nursery Rocking Chair It's important to have one when choosing a rocking chair for your baby's nursery that you can comfortably sit in for long periods. It can take time to nurse or rock a fussy baby to sleep so you'll want a chair that's comfortable for you first. For those who will breastfeed, you may want to make sure that your chair has comfortable armrests that are large enough to carry your arms to the maximum while optimizing positioning. To mothers who want to raise their feet, rocking chairs with footrests can be a great plus. You can take the pressure off the lower back by elevating the feet and help to relieve tension. Another thing the nursery needs to look for is safety in a rocking chair. Most rocking chairs have a poor reputation for pinching curious kids who use it as a playground for jungles. To help avoid this, you should ensure that the chair you are having has a locking mechanism for its glider or reclining feature. You'll also want to know whether the chair is out of control of little fingers and toes with all of its gears and rough edges. Another factor that can make your life easier is finding a chair that has an easy to clean cloth. Micro-fibre is often a popular choice as well as leather since after a spill they can be quickly cleaned off. However, other fibers may be scotch-guarded but be aware of the chemicals in these products which may come into contact with young ones. Patio or Porch Rocking chair You'll want one that offers plenty of back support, comfortable armrests, and smooth rocking motion when choosing a relaxing rocking chair. Choose a chair with a contoured backrest that provides the most relaxation if you're looking for a chair specifically for stress relieving. Some wood types hold up well than others for a covered patio or rocking chair at the porch. Teak, cedar or Brazilian cherry are just a few of the best woods to use. Another choice is a chair made from HDPE timber, a synthetic resin that is sturdy and water and wind-resistant. It's always fun to enjoy somebody else sitting at your door. As we always are concern with our health’s so here’s some health benefits of rocking chair Using a rocking chair has unexpectedly been shown to reduce anxiety and depression in the elderly as well as those suffering from severe forms of dementia. The rocking action has been shown to produce endorphins that can improve the mood of adults and help soothe children. Gasp some of the most popular health benefits in quick panorama rundown: Rocking cuts down anxiety and stressThe motion increases the circulation of blood through the bodyHelps build harmonyRelaxing effect on babiesCould help with back pain
Guidelines for picking up a right rocking chair
Here are some guidelines which will help you to pick up your right rocking chair: The positioning of the rocking chair A rocking chair is a medium-priced affair, which must be explained with a good cause. That said, it is a long term investment and must be treated as such. A rocking chair. Therefore, you should first understand where you place this chair in your house exactly. Will you use the chair inside your house or will you use the chair on the porch outside? Your answer will decide what kind of stroller you should like. This is because the wear and tear of the external weather can not survive every kind of material. Upon agreeing on it, concentrate on building design, material, and climate change adaptation to make it look good all year round. Types of material used It is of the utmost importance to consider the quality and durability of the chair because it is an important factor and indicator. A range of different types of materials is constructed of typical rocking chairs. It covers maple, wood, stone, acrylic, fiber, timber or plant products. Go with wood to make you have the best chair. Compared to plastic or other matter, you can never be wrong about the quality of the wood. Let's address here the various wood types and other components used in the development of a rocking chair. A wide array of wood types, such as softwood, hardwood, timber and processed wood, exist today. Besides leather, the most common type of material used in the design and manufacturing of rocking chairs is bamboo, plastic, and resin. Softwood materials Softwood and pinewood also are known for their inexpensive nature as one of the most common materials used in the making of a rocking chair. Incredible options for chairs outdoors, softwoods like pines don't easily age or temperature. So in any kind of climate and weather, you can use these benches. Softwood, though, must be well looked for. It should be finished in a good time to protect against any kind of weather damage in the long run because it is purchased for outdoor use. You can see fragile wood in the way that it is quickly ripped to sharp objects or scratched. Hardwood materials Hard wooden materials such as oak wood are known for their robust and durable qualities, as a comparatively better alternative than softwood. These can be carefully designed without hassles and live longer than their counterparts in softwood. Unlike softwood furniture, a hardwood chair should be cared for properly, so that its natural weather conditions do not harm it. Hardwood seats cannot easily be dented or scratched, which are very durable and resilient. It makes them perfect in households that hang and carry a lot of children. Teak wood material Teak is likely the longest and best wood material that can be found to produce rocking chairs. Teak is considered to survive any type of weather or handling in contrast to other wooden styles such as hard or softwoods like fir, oak or bamboo. It does not need much care or shielding to shield it from water, dust, and wind and can remain perfectly stable for many years and seasons. It should only be treated and cleaned periodically for maintenance problems. The silver patina coat to the trees should be stopped. HDPE Lumber materials HDPE lumber consists of a certain synthetic resin that can be used to build quality furniture suitable for outdoor use and which is durable. They are rather costly, but they are extremely durable, convenient and spacious and they continue to control the price. Also, HDPE wood furniture is very durable, lasts very long and is easier to maintain than most types. You can just take a damp cloth to brush around the floor if you'd vacuum the room. These rocking chairs are weight-wise, nominal to moderately heavy and therefore also promise great portability. These are also available in a wide range of colors so that these match very well. Size and Height The size of the chair is important as you would not want a humongous chair sitting right in the middle of the hall blocking all passages to any rooms. Nor do you want a chair so small that you question your buying decision and the lack of any children to use this chair. After you have decided on the type of material you will be using to get the chair made and the placement of this chair, you need to fix the size and height of the chair. Generally, rocking chairs have dimensions with the width between 26 inches and 30 inches, height between the range of 37 inches and 45 inches and breadth between 32 inches and 37 inches. The weight of the chair is dependent on the build material and this usually lies between 6 kgs to 20 kgs. Now coming to the height specifications of people, shorter people prefer lower placement of the seats so it will be easier for them to hop in and out of the chair. People with longer and lengthier height will choose a high chair. The weight of the chair depends totally on the construction material and normally ranges from 6 to 20 kg. Now that people have reached the height requirements, shorter people prefer lower seats, so they can easily fly into and out of the chair. For example, people who are longer and longer are likely to choose a high chair. Style and color A rocking chair in grandpa's style has semi-crescent, curving stripes. Since these are the most popular, the design of the wheel is also trendy. Nonetheless, be mindful that the choice for painting wood is restricted to the color of the wood from which it is made. While these are basic styles, plastic molds and HDPE wood types offer you a Rock chair for wood material constructions. Tranquility and comfort Certain aspects of a chair that lead to comfortable chairs have to be weighed, apart from the height, style and construction material. It covers the shortage of upholstery or chair cushioning. Is the chair sufficiently padded? Can it support more than one cushioning type? Please ask these final questions before you finalize your option of the chair.
