It is not lost on me that Charlie and Vaggie were initially not doing great against Adam and Lute...and then proved Carmilla was so fucking right.

Vaggie is absolutely FUCKED here. She's been in this position before, with Lute looming over her spitting vitriolic judgment, Vaggie's blood on the ground. Back then, she couldn't stop Lute from taking away her wings, her eye, her home, and her purpose. But now? She has more than that; she has love, because she has Charlie.

When Lute threatens Charlie, everything changes. Vaggie fucks her up immediately...and shows "mercy" knowing that being forced to live with part of herself gone (her arm was CRUSHED, no way was she getting it back), the shame of defeat, and the knowledge that someone she's been looking down on so completely is responsible for it all is a fate MUCH worse than death for Lute.

And Charlie? Charlie's insanely powerful but has no clue how to use her power to its full potential because she's never had a reason or desire to fight until now. Even when she's being strangled, when she's pissed-off and vengeful, she can't really tap into that power. But then Adam comes at her dad and is about to catch him off-guard.

He's about to hurt—possibly kill—her dad, who she's finally building a good relationship with; her dad, who just showed up to protect her despite the risk of politically turning this battle from an act of defiance by a willful princess to an act of full-on rebellion by the King of Hell himself. She reacts on instinct to protect her father and stops a hit that destroyed Alastor's shield. And she does it effortlessly.

Carmilla was right. For these ladies, at least, the need to protect someone they love, no matter what kind of love it is, is exactly what rallies them to come at enemies who were just kicking their asses and absolutely dominate.

Thinking of modernization for Pride & Prejudice, and it occurred to me that the basics of the three main families is this:

Darcy - old, stable, fabulous wealth

Bingley - new (ish, at least in the last two generations) wealth and aggressive networking

Bennet - old, but diminishing wealth

Or to present this in a rough graph:

So to translate to modern times:

Darcy - family fortune built securely on real estate and other solid, long term investments (government bonds). No chance they'll fall out of the upper class

Bingley - wealth is from oil, Grandpa Bingley got into the business and they were rich by Father Bingley. Children were all raised in the upper class. Accepted in the upper class but still new.

Bennet - the last remnants of a railroad baron family. Raised upper class, but Mr. Bennet invested nothing and lived off the remaining principal. The wealth will be gone by the time he dies.

Has anyone else noticed that Mel's office resembles the Lamb's cave in the Blood Sweat and Tears mv?

The geometric design gives the illusion of Mel's space being cavernous. Mel also decorates her office with the same red rock the Lamb is surrounded in.

In the Lamb's domain she hand picks warriors to fight and decorate her space, meanwhile Mel's office is framed by a large mural of faceless warriors that surround her in defense.

On top of that the way the Lamb was introduced is nearly the same way Mel was. In both scenes, we have this mysterious but clearly clever individual offer a person with high esteem a gift (using the same hand btw).

Without any context the one to receive the gift assumes it's of high value and a reflection of their superiority, when in reality it was play on the receiver's ego by the clever gift giver.

And just like Mel with Hoskel, the Lamb had fooled Ambessa for the rest of her life by letting her believe a false interpretation of the vision she was given.

It was likely in Ambessa's final moments did she realize how wrong she was about everything from the vision, the throne, Mel, and how they were all meant to come together and how they all will come together without her.

i'm not sure how they'll go about it but i wish they kept lestat's agency in deciding to partake at the trial and not save claudia

i think it would so interesting to explore lestat's guilt and regret mixed with rage and sadness, and not just blame it all on another character
