Actually left the house today and went to see dan and phil’s terrible influence tour and despite my reluctance to leave my apartment ever, I am very glad I went. I laughed until I cried and it was genuinely such a good show. Took me back many years and it was so nice

saw a reddit post that said "chuck and blair were excellent tv but dan and blair were more authentic" and I think this basically sums up what's wrong with lots of dair shippers for me bc gossip girl IS a tv show!! it's not meant to be real or authentic it's a ridiculous drama show to escape into!! nothing is meant to be inspirational or aspirational (aside from wealth if ur into that) and everyone's kinda awful bc that's the fun of it!! chuck and blair are perfect for a drama bc that's what they provide, along with real true love and that's what makes them so special

SPOILERS FOR GOSSIP GIRL(??):

unpopular but popular (??) opinion but I hate Chuck Bass. I'm not sorry but if you try to SA not one but TWO characters in the PILOT EPISODE, you already aren’t my favorite character or climbing up to be one. I don't know why he was/is so loved by most of the fandom/watchers of the show when this happened + so much more has happened. I’m not sure if he gets a redemption or not only seeing I’m on season 4 but so far he doesn’t have anything to get on my good side. and I’m not sorry.

UPDATE: just watched s4 e20 and WTF HOW DO PEOPLE LIKE HIM SO MUCH!?!? HE LITERALLY FORCES HIMSELF ON BLAIR THEN PUNCHES THE MIRROR/GLASS NEXT TO HER!! ALL BECAUSE SHE SAID SHE WAS ENGAGED!

I just don't know how people can like him!

I rewatched 1x09 and I realised that not only does serena forget meeting dan twice, so does blair. actually all the njbc forget interacting with him prior to s1. serena's the obvious one as she was drunk both times, but blair wasn't. at the party in freshman year we don't see blair interact with dan but he was in her apartment so she probably saw him but completely ignored him. at thanksgiving the year before s1 she talks to him in the street and gets serena away from him, at no point realising they go to the same school. she even glares at him before getting into the taxi so she definitely looks at him. yet in 1x02 she introduces herself to him with no recollection that they've technically met and spoken before which shows how little she cares about him outside of him being serena's bf. chuck bumps into him (literally) at the party and says 2 words to him, but again despite going to the same school and being in the same class he has no idea who dan is up until the pilot. same with nate, although at the party he thinks dan's called matt but still he doesn't recognise him at all until the pilot even though they're in the same class. they truly didn't care about dan or pay any kind of attention to him which is actually kinda funny bc he was so obsessed with them meanwhile they literally forgot him multiple times 😭😭
