saw a reddit post that said "chuck and blair were excellent tv but dan and blair were more authentic" and I think this basically sums up what's wrong with lots of dair shippers for me bc gossip girl IS a tv show!! it's not meant to be real or authentic it's a ridiculous drama show to escape into!! nothing is meant to be inspirational or aspirational (aside from wealth if ur into that) and everyone's kinda awful bc that's the fun of it!! chuck and blair are perfect for a drama bc that's what they provide, along with real true love and that's what makes them so special

The only ship that I have ever vehemently hated is Dair. People think they’re soooo cute and healthy and love their “banter.” That man stalked her, isolated her, and used her pain against her. He didn’t respect her. She didn’t respect him. He’d always play second fiddle to Chuck and Dan only cared about proving that he belonged on the UES.

If people didn’t want him to end up with Serena why the hell would you want him with Blair??? Riddle me that!

So are we all finally mature enough to say Serena sa’d Dan in the season five finale? Serena intentionally got Dan drunk and She misled him about his relationship status with Blair to then created a scenario to isolate him. Since he was drunk and clearly manipulated he wasn't able to give a clear consent. Not to mention she filmed them without him knowing. Sexual assault isn't always about physical force. It can also involve taking advantage of someone who is unable to give consent.

I hope at the time everyone didn’t know that Sa involved more than just physical force and didn’t just ignored it because he’s a man and not a woman.

12 years since the show ended, 4 years since I finished watching it, and I'm still not over Blair and Dan.

They were so fucking perfect okayy???? I don't even like gossip girl but I rewatch it every once in a while just for them. They were wayy too well written for that kind of a show. Which is why they didn't end up together, the world (the fans) wouldn't be able to handle them. They're too powerful.

Rewatching Gossip Girl and actually getting super into it and omg early season 5 Chuck was rly him at his best. I’m on season 5 episode 4 and I don’t want to punch him? For like the first time ever? He’s finally leaving Blair alone, he’s got a weird semi-friendship with Dan, he’s finding true joy in caring for a dog - the writers rly set up a lovely arc that shows how toxic and undesirable Chuck and Blair’s relationship was and allowed Blair to slowly find power within herself again, all while actually beginning to make Chuck almost sympathetic (a task I never would’ve thought impossible), and tied everything together with a Dan-Blair relationship that suddenly seemed like the obvious path for these characters that might have even been subtly building up since the very beginning of the show, then threw it all away at the end of the season just for some last-minute fan service that required some insane retconning to actually try to justify narratively huh? It’s just so aidhjenwhsbaiwnwbi. Anyways long live dair ig.

Calling all Dair shippers!!!!!

I want to start reading fan fiction of them, but I have no idea where to begin.

My only requirements are that it's in English (why must you be the only language my stupid brain could leadn), is an AU and that (while I don't mind if he shows up) Chuck doesn't get any kind of a redemption arc like if he's in the story I want the narative to treat him like the villain he is (the same with Louie tbh but I'm guessing he dosn't get much focus).

I would also prefer it if it took place when they're adults (but I'm willing to give fics of them getting together sooner a try).

So, if you know of any fics that fit that description, please leave your recommendations in the comments.

Chuck and Blair.

Their relationship was one big emotional rollercoaster that made no sense. Chuck was a selfish manipulator—he only wanted Blair when he couldn't have her, and when he did, he either betrayed her or pushed her away. And Blair? She kept giving him chance after chance, even though she knew he would only hurt her again.

And that whole “epic love story” felt more like a toxic addiction than a real relationship. It was an endless push and pull—when one wanted the other, the other didn’t, and vice versa. Yet the writers kept forcing it as if it were some kind of grand romance. Honestly, Blair had much better chemistry with Dan, at least their connection was deeper and more meaningful.

Blair deserved so much better. Best match for her would be Nate or Dan.

saw this in the tags and I think it's super interesting bc there were lots of things planned for s1 that just didn't happen so do they consider all of it canon? bc in that case blair was meant to be jealous of chuck and another girl on valentine's day yet that can be conveniently forgotten 👀 also I kinda doubt that josh and stephanie "let's rewrite the whole show for chair" schwartz and savage really cared that much about continuing a dair breadcrumb thread bc ultimately if they wanted to mention it before s5 bc they truly missed it and wanted to include it somehow they would have found a way to. but, like how they waited to actually do dair until late s5 (and then it was only a plot device), they knew it wasn't really important to include and not what gg was about or what ppl wanted
