People against piracy fail to realize that no, I can’t just ‘buy it.’ They stopped making DVDs and Blu-Rays. They’re barely offering digital copies for download. I am not spending money I could use for food or bills to pay for a subscription service just so I can always have access to a beloved piece of media. Especially not when the service will remove media on a whim without concern for how the loss of access to that piece will make its artistic conservation nigh impossible.
For example, I recently learned that Disney+ had an original film called Crater. It’s scifi, family friendly, and seems cool - I would love to buy it as a holiday gift for my little brother! But: it’s exclusive to D+ and THEY REMOVED IT LITERALLY MONTHS AFTER ITS RELEASE.
The ONLY way I can directly access this film is through piracy. The ONLY available ‘copies’ of this film are hosted on piracy websites. Disney will NEVER release it in theaters, or as something to buy, and it may NEVER return to the streaming service. It will be LOST because we aren’t allowed to purchase it for personal viewing. If I can’t pay to own it, I won’t pay for the privilege of losing it when corporate decides to put it in a vault.
So yes, I’m going to pirate and support piracy.
Edit: if you are able, use $5 you would otherwise use for a streaming subscription to donate to a GazaFunds campaign.

im watching dps with audio commentary and its awful hearing all the decisions that were made and them explaining the characters and how they constructed the film to make everything unfold in the right way, it just breaks my heart.
one thing is that they consulted a psychologist to make sure neil’s suicide didn’t make anyone watching feel like that was their only option and they were told to make him look “weak” which is why he said “nothing”, and why there are camera shots looking down on him to make him look small.
and how the gesture of them standing on their desks at the end and keating saying “thank you boys” was him saying thank you for giving me a reason to carry on. peter said that otherwise he could’ve become very depressed and stopped teaching, so the gesture gave him and us hope.
another thing is that they didn’t include the scene to intercut with neil’s death because it “didn’t fit”, they needed to cut scenes, and because they didn’t want to make keating actually complicit in the meetings. they said that the sixties brought the end of strict institutions like welton, with student protests and rebellion, but keating wasn’t like that. he didn’t want them to rebel, he wanted them to live — “medicine, law, business, engineering, these are noble pursuits, neccessary to sustain life. but beauty, poetry, romance, love. these are what we stay alive for.” — to know that outside of everything that society expects there is a life worth living. (i think the difference here is that keating knew the consequences — he told neil to explain how he felt to his father, and never encouraged him to go against him — “choking on the bone”)
i also wondered how they shot the scene in the snow, and they did it by shooting the scenes where they walk in the snow, and then set up the cameras for when todd’s comforted by the poets (they shot this three times and moved the camera forward into fresh snow each time). then they set the camera up so ethan could run through the fresh snow from there to the dock, without any tracks in the shot. they also mention that it was important for the camera operators to know the scenes and who was speaking and where so they could quickly cut between the boys (when neil suggests they reconvene the dead poets society as the sun was setting quickly, and when todd runs in the snow)

Captain Christopher Pike's outfits in STAR TREK: STRANGE NEW WORLDS → Season 1 - 2 (requested by anonymous)
(Young Lieutenant Pike in the field jacket and red operations uniform is from a 1x06 "Lift Us Where Suffering Cannot Reach" deleted scene on the Season 1 dvd. It's a little flashback scene with Pike in a shuttle. It ends with him beaming back to USS Aryabhatta, the ship he served on at the time with Number One/Una.)
Star Trek: Discovery outfits here.

I've been meaning to get the scans of the Tokyo Mew Mew New Blu-rays done for a while now. However, cleaning the front and back cover of the booklets was too big of a hurdle. Due to the gradient coloring and the patterns, it was pretty much impossible for me to remove the creases. So I would like to give a big shoutout to @wotcherangie for doing that for me. I wouldn't have been able to finish cleaning these scans without her. Be sure to check out her blog and all of her great artwork X3.
You can download the scans for the 1st Blu-ray HERE.
The rest of them will be done soon!

I-VIII https://archive.org/details/bbc-red-dwarf
BTE-XII https://archive.org/details/RedDwarf1988
No TPL unfortunately, there did used to be a playlist that included all of the episodes but it's been copyright claimed and taken down
There's also a pretty comprehensive compilation of extras that I've been having a lot of fun looking through

THE VENTURE BROS.: THE COMPLETE SERIES - Review
DISTRIBUTOR: Warner Bros. Discovery Home Entertainment
Tumblr media
SYNOPSIS: Twenty years in the making, one of the iconic pillars of Adult Swim, THE VENTURE BROS., comes to DVD and digital in a box set that includes the seven year run of the show, all 82 episodes (14 discs), plus every single piece of previously released special features.
REVIEW: Full disclosure, I have not gone through everything. I only got the package on Friday and there is just so much, and that’s just the episodes. What I have watched so far is a real “Wow!”
The series premiered twenty years ago in 2003. It was the year my daughter was born and it was one of the late night shows on Adult Swim that kept me company. It was a delight to go back and rewatch the early episodes, especially on a big screen TV with surround sound. Oh, and no commercial breaks. Twenty years may not be a lot of time, but the writing still stands the test of time. From the writing and the music, to the design of the series, THE VENTURE BROS. pays homage to many of the adventure animated series we grew up with in our youth but takes to a whole other level, an adult comedy level. Watching these episodes again was like a trip down memory lane and there were quite a few things I had missed and made me appreciate the writing even more.
I popped in all the DVDs to view the menus and see the list of extras. No wonder they didn’t list the special features in the press release because there are a lot of them. I had never watched any of them before so I took in a few. They were well made, entertaining and informative. As a fan of the show I enjoyed the insight they added to the viewing experience.
Regardless of your level of fandom with the show, THE VENTURE BROS.: THE COMPLETE SERIES is a nice package that provides hours of viewing pleasure for you to get reacquainted with an old friend. Regardless of the nostalgia, it is the writing that made the series a hit. Some of the episodes were saterial of the period they were written in, but the style is such that it remains timeless and the humor fresh.
The 14-disc box set has a combined runtime of 1,968 minutes.
The TV series was canceled in 2020, with the final season aired in 2018, but The Venture Bros. swan song is coming with the film The Venture Bros.: Radiant Is the Blood of the Baboon Heart and will be available Digitally on July 21st and on Blu-ray Disc on July 25th, 2023.
CAST (voices): James Urbaniak, Christopher McCulloch, Michael Sinterniklaas, Patrick Warburton, Paul Boocock, Doc Hammer; plus a cast of hundreds over the 82 episodes. CREW: Creator/Director/Writer - Christopher McCulloch; Directors - Jon Schnepp, Ki-Yong Bai, Juno John Lee, Barry J. Kelly, & Ethan Marak; Writers - Doc Hammer & Ben Edlund; Series Composer - J.G. Thirlwell; OFFICIAL: www.adultswim.com FACEBOOK: www.facebook.com/adultswim/ TWITTER: twitter.com/adultswim TRAILER: www.youtube.com/@adultswim for lots of clips and the show opening credit sequence. RELEASE DATE: Digitally and on DVD June 13, 2023
**Until we can all head back into the theaters our “COVID Reel Value” will be similar to how you rate a film on digital platforms - 👍 (Like), 👌 (It’s just okay), or 👎 (Dislike)

This Limited Mediabook Edition came out two years ago and was only released in Germany. According to this YouTuber, only 333 copies were sold on pre-order and practically out of order after one minute. Not to mention it was around 3:00 am when it was occurring, how many people managed to find that out so quickly was a mystery to me. But I wished I could have gotten a copy of this, not only is it covered with new artwork, but information we probably didn't know about. If you want to know more, I'd recommend watching djcooky78's video because he does show what the book contains. And if there is any fluent German speaker out there, I'd be happy if you could translate everything for us.

It might seem like I’m joking when I say that Batman VS the TMNT is my favorite movie of all time but you need to understand that to me. to me? This movie has it all. The Gotham City Rogues all get fursonas. Two poorly voiced lesbians tearfully break up in a pizzeria right before Batman throws Michealangelo through the window. Donatello sees Damian Wayne and yells “What are you, five?!” Leonardo calls him “Little guy” and Damian fucking breaks his knees with a bo staff. Harley’s in her jester outfit telling Joker that eight years of college and three years of residency make her overqualified to be the sexy nurse. Raphael of all turtles lectures Batman about not being direct and trusting with his family. Leonardo kicks Ra’s al Ghul in the balls. Shredders asks Batman to say his last words and he goes, “Cowabunga”
