I was about to comment on the fact that I thought it was weird that this woman apparently didn't think anything was weird about Launchpad acting chivalrous when the stereotypical depiction of Vikings is anything but....And then she points out that him acting that way just gave him away. As did the fact that he doesn't have a beard despite presumably looking old enough to have one. And I can't deny, I kind of love that.

DuckTales (2017) is a show that did a good job at making some changes from the source material to match the current socioeconomic climate. For example, in the 1987 run, Fenton was able to take home two paychecks from McDuck Enterprises, as Gizmoduck was listed on the payroll as a separate employee. However, in the modern adaptation, Fenton is an unpaid intern, and, seeing as most of the major characters know that he's Gizmoduck, it's likely he doesn't receive a salary for that, either.

Unpopular DT opinion: I don’t care for Don Rosa’s work. None of it ever resonated with me. I dunno if that makes me a heathen, but whatever, DuckTales in the early days bores me to tears. Guess you can put me at the stake. 🔥

I do get it. Rosa’s work is not for everyone. It certainly has a very fanfic-y taste to it, and arguably isn’t very Disney-comic-like at all. Or it at least isn’t Barksian. Rosa more writes like it’s a Hollywood movie. For some that’s exactly its appeal, but for others it’s a turn-off. Both are fair.

Also his art is probably a problem as well. I know it is for many. It’s very stiff. Me being a big Rosa fan doesn’t notice it while reading, but the moment you go and look at the art of some professionals it does start to stand out in a negative way. Rosa’s difference is also that he puts 10 times the amount of time in drawing compared to other artists, partly because he’s technically an amateur, and because he wants the very best possible, but it does end up in often overcrowded drawings. Some might really love all that extra effort and the details, some would say, like I quote my mother: “It hurts my eyes”.

There are a lot of people who dislike Rosa’s stories, so it’s really not the unpopular opinion you might think it is. You might just haven’t encountered the Barks purists yet. Or even those who prefer the cleaner drawing and writing styles of… pretty much everyone else.

I have seen very little of the original Ducktales and it kind of bored me as well. I don’t think that’s an unpopular opinion at all actually. I see lots of people say that Ducktales 87 hasn’t aged well compared to like, Darkwing Duck. I would even say it was never that great in the first place. I find it a very childish adaptation of the duckverse that looked at Barks’ stories and misunderstood everything that was good about them. Gotta say though, that the animation and staging was beautiful. Especially for that time! That was some movie-level of budget they had or something, because it still looks great, and maybe even better than some modern animation we see in the industry today.

my history with the comics is ZILCH. i've had my friend show me a few duck comics they had in their first language and i've read some of the darkwing stuff but i haven't dived head first into scrooge's origins the way that many other duckblr members have

please note i might be off because i am very tired as of writing this. i will pass out directly after i finish this and so my judgements might be a bit. Strange

First comment I'd like to make her is how professional the comic seems, though that may just be because i'm viewing this though the don rosa archive on the definitely legal website. i'm glad at the very least that all of these like. little comics that are hard to keep track of are in one place

So, what about Cash Networth? Well…

It all starts with the situation with Cash and Javi. In my previous post, I said Cash was going to be more of a Scrooge McDuck character in tetocu23.

As far as the Jack Yacht is concerned, the Salamanger episode mostly plays the same as the original… except for one particularly heavy development. Because (according to the writers of the AU) Krupp and Captain are going to lean a little closer to their movie selves in this theoretical reboot, I'll definitely remove the part with Krupp pulling a "let's push him overboard lmfao" on poor Cash. He still steals Javi, though in this version, it's just to screw with Cash's head than straight up abuse, and that happens in a separate episode (since this reboot, according to the writers, has 20something eps per season, so Javi gets fleshed out a bit more before he inevitably gets Kruppnapped).

Speaking of our principal, Cash and Krupp's character dynamic wouldn't have one be completely dominant over the other. It would be based on Scrooge and Glomgold's interactions in dt17... but less murder-y and stuff lol

Javi is still a background character, but he does… talk and stuff. He's calm and collected, sweet, but he also has a tendency to becoming incredibly depressed when anything upsetting happens, or flying off the handle and losing his temper the more his buttons get pushed.

Also, Javi is gay for Cash. Consider Javi and Cash the Scrooge and Launchpad of the AU… if Scrooge and Launchpad were gay af

Also, Cash has a niece! This reboot does what dt17 did - include reinterpretations of all the DT characters we know and love (or love to hate, depending on what character), along with tetocu23 original ones.

This is Alyssa Hawkins, Cash Networth's niece!

Let's say that Alyssa is a former child actor who used to be a teen actress. Very famous, to. But, ahem, backlash from toxic fans has waned her desire to be an actress, so nowadays she's just a bit of a theatre kid.

Being the niece of the billionaire owner of Camp Uppercrust means Alyssa is rich, too. She's a bit of a chaotic gremlin that likes to banter with her uncle. She also loves rambling about Yu Gi Oh (the original manga series, mind you) to him. Alyssa, except for Krupp and the Melvins, is kind to her friends and is very forgiving, even forgiving Meaner for what he did to her friends in the Borelock episode. Hates Krupp with every fiber of her being, despite Krupp not treating Cash as horribly as he did in tetocu.

If TETOCU23!Hazel is a detective version of dt17!Webby Vanderquack then this girl is an unholy mashup of 87 Webby and B.O.Y.D.

Is in denial about her bisexuality.

Is friends with Hazel. And frenemies with Cara.

Their friendship kinda works, because Alyssa needs an outlet for her energy, Cara needs a new slave and Hazel needs a good right-hand man (or right-hand girl).
