DIY: Summer Citrus Sugar Scrub
Rejuvenate and revive your skin with this easy citrus sugar scrub recipe. With only 3 ingredients you probably already have on hand, you’ll be ready to whip up this gentle exfoliating body scrub in no time!
Sugar Scrub, or body polish is a luxurious way to refresh your skin. It is so gentle that it can even be used on sensitive skin.
Exfoliating body scrub makes a great shower favor, quick gift, treat for yourself or a hostess gift when you are welcomed to a friend’s beach house. This jar will keep my skin happy all summer long!
Keep a jar of this sugar scrub by your kitchen to soothe your hands after washing dishes. It will rehydrate your skin from the harshness of the hot water and dish soap. Keep a jar of sugar scrub in the shower for a mini spa treatment up to 3 times a week!
Citrus Sugar Scrub Recipe Ingredients
It’s made with just a few ingredients, from your kitchen!
Sugar – 1/2 cup of regular white table sugar is perfect for this diy sugar scrub! It exfoliates your skin, gentling rubbing away dead skin cells leaving your skin feeling smooth and radiant.
Oil – I use 1/4 cup Vitamin E Oil in this recipe which is so good for your skin. Its anti inflammatory properties soothes and calms, while hydrating dry skin and working to heal any blemishes.
Citrus – Is so good for your body inside and out! Naturally full of vitamin C it leaves your skin with a beautiful glow! It also can help to lighten sun spots or other blemishes on your skin. I love the texture and beautiful color the citrus adds along with its amazingly refreshing scent! You can use the zest from one Orange, Grapefruit, or Lemon, or 2 Limes, in this recipe.
*** Zest is made from the top layer of a fruit peel. Always try to avoid the white pith. If you don’t have a zester, you can use a vegetable peeler to gently peel the top layer of your fruit. Then cut the strips into finer strips lengthwise, and then again into tiny cubes widthwise.
Supplies
Large Glass Mixing Bowl
Handheld Citrus Zester (variations under Tips and Tricks)
Spatula
Measuring Cups
Sealable Glass Jars (I like to use mason jars or repurpose clean jars I already own)
Ice Cream Scoop
How to Make Exfoliating Body Scrub
This scrub is so easy to make. It only contains natural ingredients and no artificial food colorings.
Combine sugar and oil.
2. Add zest.
3. Scoop into sealable glass jars.
4. Label and date.
5. Store for up to 3 months in an airtight container.
Variations
This sugar scrub recipe is so easy to customize to fit your needs!
Citrus Variations – In this recipe I use orange, but any other citrus would work well! In the past, I have used grapefruit, orange, lime, and lemon. They all have worked wonderfully! If using lime I chose to use the zest from 2 limes since they are smaller sized fruit.
Oil Variations – Vitamin E Oil, Coconut Oil, Olive Oil, Almond Oil, Carrot Oil, Argan Oil, Jojoba Oil, and Grapeseed Oil.
Sugar Variations – Any white sugar should work well in this recipe. Sugar is used for a gentle exfoliation so keep that in mind when choosing the coarseness of the sugar.
For a winter sugar scrub try adding a dash of ground cloves or ground cinnamon.
Add a few drops of essential oils. My favorite combinations include other citrus oils to complement and enhance, floral scents such as moroccan rose or lavender, and woody scents such cedar or rosemary.
Pro Tip: If using coconut oil, it will help to slightly warm the oil on the stovetop or even the microwave before adding it to the mixture. I love coconut oil and lime combination!
How to Store Sugar Scrub
This Sugar Scrub recipe can be stored for up to 3 months in a properly sealed jar / airtight container.
PRO TIP: Upcycle jars you already own!

What Are Shower Steamers?
Bath Salt shower steamers are specially crafted tablets designed to transform your daily shower into an aromatic and therapeutic experience. When placed in your shower, these steamers release essential oils and fragrances that envelop you in a soothing or invigorating mist, making your shower feel like a mini spa session. Unlike bath bombs, which are designed for soaking in the tub, shower steamers work with the steam and water from your shower, offering a quick and convenient way to enjoy the benefits of aromatherapy.
Benefits of Using Bath Salt Shower Steamers
Aromatherapy: Infused with pure essential oils, our shower steamers offer targeted aromatherapy benefits, helping to relax, energize, or relieve sinus congestion.
Convenience: Perfect for those who don’t have time for a long bath but still want to indulge in self-care.
Versatility: Whether you’re starting your day with an energizing boost or winding down with calming scents, our steamers cater to your specific needs.
How They Differ from Bath Bombs
Bath bombs are designed for immersion in bathwater, creating a colorful and fragrant soak. Shower steamers, however, are activated by water and steam in the shower. They don’t dissolve in a tub but instead fizz on the shower floor, releasing their scents directly into the steam. This makes them perfect for shower lovers who want the benefits of bath bombs without the need for a bath.
Types of Bath Salt Shower Steamers
Our Bath Salt shower steamers come in a variety of formulations, each designed to address specific needs:
Relaxation Steamers
Infused with soothing essential oils like lavender and chamomile, our relaxation steamers help to calm the mind and body, making them perfect for evening showers.
Energizing Steamers
Start your day with a burst of energy by using our energizing steamers, featuring invigorating scents such as citrus, peppermint, and eucalyptus.
Sinus-Relief Steamers
Combat congestion and breathe easier with our sinus-relief steamers, which contain powerful essential oils like eucalyptus, peppermint, and tea tree.
Aromatherapy Steamers
Tailored to enhance your emotional well-being, our aromatherapy steamers include blends like rosemary for mental clarity, ylang-ylang for mood enhancement, and geranium for balance.
How to Use Bath Salt Shower Steamers
To maximize the benefits of your Bath Salt shower steamers, follow these simple steps:
Safety Precautions
Always check the ingredients for potential allergens, especially if you have sensitive skin. Avoid using steamers with harsh chemicals or artificial fragrances. Consult a healthcare provider if you’re pregnant or breastfeeding before using steamers with certain essential oils.
Duration of Use
Our shower steamers are designed to last the entire duration of your shower, typically dissolving over 5-10 minutes. For longer showers, consider using two steamers.
Ideal Water Temperature
Use warm to hot water to create enough steam to disperse the essential oils throughout your shower, enhancing the aromatherapy experience.
Proper Placement in the Shower
Place the steamer on the shower floor, but away from direct water flow. This will allow it to dissolve slowly, releasing its fragrance over time.
DIY Shower Steamer Recipes
If you’re feeling creative, you can make your own shower steamers at home. Here’s a basic guide:
Basic Recipe Ingredients
1 cup baking soda
1/2 cup citric acid
1/2 cup cornstarch
Water in a spray bottle
20-30 drops of your chosen essential oils
Customization Ideas
Personalize your steamers by adding dried herbs, flower petals, or natural colorants. You can also adjust the strength of the scent by varying the amount of essential oils used.
Storage Tips
Store your homemade steamers in an airtight container to prevent them from absorbing moisture. Keep them in a cool, dry place away from direct sunlight.
Mold Options
Use silicone molds in fun shapes or even ice cube trays to create custom steamers that fit your style.
Essential Oil Combinations
Experiment with combinations like lavender and eucalyptus for relaxation, or lemon and peppermint for an energizing shower experience.
Best Practices for Maximum Enjoyment
To fully enjoy your Bath Salt shower steamers, incorporate these best practices:
Incorporating into Your Self-Care Routine
Make shower steamers a part of your daily self-care ritual by choosing scents that match your mood or the time of day.
Creating a Spa-Like Atmosphere
Enhance your shower experience by dimming the lights, playing soft music, and using a plush bathrobe to create a relaxing, spa-like environment.
Pairing Steamers with Complementary Products
For an even more luxurious experience, pair your steamers with our Bath Salt body scrubs, lotions, or facial masks that complement the steamer’s scent profile.
Buying Guide: Choosing Quality Shower Steamers
When selecting shower steamers, consider these factors to ensure you get the best product:
Price Range and Value Considerations
Our Bath Salt shower steamers offer a range of options from affordable to premium, ensuring there’s something for every budget without compromising on quality.
Popular Brands and Reviews
Look for brands like Bath Salt that are known for using natural ingredients and have positive customer reviews. Our steamers are crafted with care and loved by many for their potency and effectiveness.
Red Flags to Avoid
Avoid steamers with artificial fragrances, synthetic dyes, or harsh chemicals. These can irritate the skin and diminish the benefits of aromatherapy.
Ingredients to Look For
Choose steamers made with natural essential oils, baking soda, citric acid, and other gentle ingredients. Look for added benefits like menthol crystals or organic herbs that can enhance the steamer’s effects.
With Bath Salt shower steamers, you can elevate your daily shower into a rejuvenating and aromatic experience, perfect for any time of day. Whether you’re looking to relax, invigorate, or simply indulge in some self-care, our steamers are a simple yet effective way to bring a little luxury into your routine.

🌸 DIY Collagen Gummy Recipe 🌸
On my weight loss journey, reprogramming how I eat and think about food has been key to losing 70+ pounds while building muscle and keeping my skin’s elasticity.
I wanted to find ways to make my favorite snacks healthy and ended up making these gummies!
They’re packed with protein and collagen, helping rebuild muscle, hydrate the skin, strengthen the bones, help with signs of aging in the skin, and more. You can easily get 20-40g of protein with this alone!
Eat these whenever you have that “I need something sweet” thought 🤠
You’ll only need the following things and 20-30 minutes (15 of them spent waiting for the trays to cool down):
• 2 cups of your juice of choice (I used Lipton Citrus Green Tea + POM pomegranate juice together)
• Fruit Puree: 1 cup of frozen fruit + 1 tbsp of honey + a squeeze of lemon juice
• (optional) 1.25 scoop of Super Reds Powder (jam-packed with antioxidants and vitamins)
• 16-20 tbsps of Grass-Fed Gelatin (the kind I use is linked here!)
• Mini-Ice Cube Trays (the kind I have is linked. It includes the storage and scoop too!)
• Other tools: a large measuring cup, large pot, spoon, and whisk
Steps:
1. Put your fruit purée ingredients into a pot on medium heat (add a splash of water or leftover juice if you’d like!)
2. Once cooked down, mash with a spoon (or use an immersion blender if you have one)
3. Add your juice of choice to the pot and mix together
4. (Optional) Add the Super Reds powder and whisk together
5. Slowly whisk in the gelatin powder. Continue to whisk until fully dissolved.
*tip: the warmer the liquid is, the easier it is for the gelatin to dissolve!*
6. Once it’s hot enough to almost simmer, transfer everything back to the large measuring cup
7. Pour into your molds. Be careful to not use too much in each tray!!
8. Pop into the freezer for 15-20 minutes.
Done! 💘

Grow Your Own: Tips for Starting an Indoor Kitchen Garden
Indoor Kitchen Garden
Dreaming of homegrown veggies, herbs, and greens but don't have an outdoor garden? Many edible plants thrive indoors on sunny windowsills, under grow lights or even in converted closets with some simple DIY installations. Read on for everything you need to know before starting your own indoor kitchen garden!
Choosing the Best Spot in Your Home
When choosing an indoor garden location, lighting and ambient conditions are key. Most edible plants require 4 to 6 hours of direct sunlight or intense grow lighting daily. Focus first on south or west-facing windows to maximize sun exposure. Supplement natural light with adjustable full spectrum LED grow bulbs especially during shorter winter days. Avoid placing seedlings directly against cold window panes which could shock them. Allow several feet distance from windows on a secondary table or shelving unit. While bright light is essential, also ensure your indoor garden isn't situated in drafty spots or directly within heat zones around appliances. Stable comfortable room temperatures between 65-75 degrees Fahrenheit enable healthy growth for most indoor edibles. Monitor ambient humidity as well, avoiding overly moist areas prone to mold. Kitchens provide warmth and access to watering yet keep plants far from stove and oven heat. Also be wary of humidity and condensation from sinks, opting for well-ventilated areas less prone to foliage diseases. Creative Solutions for Tight Spaces Urban apartment dwellers without much square footage can still reap indoor edible rewards! You'd be amazed how productive mini wall-mounted planters, stacked crates, hanging gardens and vertical hydroponic towers can be, even in tiny spaces. Help your plants climb slender trellises to maximize vertical real estate. Install floor-to-ceiling shelving above counters or desks equipped with supplemental grow light strips. Repurpose empty cabinets or bookcases for raised garden beds. Consider converting odd dusty spaces like mail slots, supply closets or under stair cubbies into micro-gardens!
Choosing the Best Indoor Edible Plants
With thousands of plant species and varieties to pick from, it helps to prioritize ease, yield, and growth habitat when selecting indoor edibles. As a rule of thumb, start with crops you regularly cook with and love to eat! Success harvesting even small batches of homegrown ingredients like mini tomatoes, herbs or salad greens builds confidence to expand. When browsing seed catalogs and nurseries, seek out dwarf, patio or compact varietals suited for containers. Focus on fast-growing herbs and veggies that can develop fully from transplant to maturity within your indoor season timeframe. Keep maturation and harvest data from seed packets handy, planning succession plantings for continual yields. Note mound spacing, trellising needs, light and nutrient requirements before purchasing. Select disease-resistant seeds and starts well-suited for indoor humidity and heat levels in your home. Can't Fail Prolific Indoor Herbs Herbs offer great bang for your buck planted indoors, rewarding gardeners with month after month of bountiful green foliage and dynamic flavors. Many Mediterranean herbs relish warm indoor environments reminiscent of their coastal regional origins. The mint family including basil, oregano, thyme and lemon balm are very forgiving, fast growing and high yielding. Try overwintering hardy perennial herbs like rosemary, sage and parsley indoors, harvesting from the same plants year after year. Start more temperamental cilantro and dill biweekly for continual access to their leaves, flowers and seeds. Grow trailing herbs like wandering jew, nasturtium or catmint in hanging planters. Air drying longer-lasting herbs or freezing chopped portions in ice cube trays keeps their zesty flavors on hand year-round even when your indoor garden rests! Reliable Vegetables, Lettuce and Greens Nutrient-dense salad greens and herbs provide the most bang for your buck as indoor veggies. Various lettuce varieties will keep providing a steady yield of fresh leaves for months from just 1-2 starter plants! Try catalog varieties labeled "cut and come again", "long standing" or "loose leaf" suited for repeat partial harvests versus pulling entire heads at once. Arugula, kale, swiss chard, spinach and mustard greens also grow well indoors from seeds or starts. Quick-maturing cherry tomatoes thrive indoors. Stake or trellis vines for vertical growth potential. Radishes and green onions offer speedy satisfaction, developing crunchy roots or shoots in just 4-6 weeks from seeds! Plant bush bean and pea seeds directly in roomy containers. Certain dwarf carrot varieties can grow plump petite roots indoors. Peppers and eggplant need adequate lighting and prefer slightly warmer ambient temperatures but produce well in indoor gardens.
Caring for Your Indoor Edible Garden
To help indoor edibles thrive, emulate elements of their natural outdoor growing environments. Situate containers purposefully to receive required sunlight levels per variety. Use grow lights to supplement natural daylight. Provide physical supports for climbing vines and top-heavy plants prone to flopping over. Practice attentive horticultural nurturing just as you would for outdoor garden beds orcontainer plants on a patio or balcony. Monitor soil moisture, ambient temperature and humidity fluctuations in your home. Check for pest infestations hiding in thick foliage. Feed plants supplemental liquid fertilizers to avoid nutrient deficiencies. Support beneficial pollinators for fruiting crops. Water Well and Infrequently Irregular watering causes the most avoidable trouble for indoor container gardens! Each plant variety prefers slightly different moisture levels in soil and substrates. Mint family herbs hate perpetually wet roots yet spinach thrives grown hydroponically in perpetually damp surroundings. Invest in self-watering pots or conservatively monitor soil dryness, watering most plants when the top few inches become crumbly and no longer clump together. The old finger poke check still works perfectly! Most edibles grow best when soil moisture is kept evenly moderately damp through the entirety of pots, not just surface top watering a small circle. Submerge entire containers in buckets to bottom saturate soils evenly yet infrequently. Allow excess moisture to fully drain out through holes before returning plants to drip trays. This wet dry cycle prevents mineral buildups. Feed Growing Plants Even attentive gardeners often unintentionally starve container plants by underfeeding! High yielding fruiting crops deplete surrounding soil volume nutrients rapidly since confined pots restrict spreading feeder root networks. Replenish macro and micronutrients through your indoor garden’s life cycle, especially for heavy feeding nightshades like peppers and tomatoes. Use either fast acting liquid solutions or granular time-release fertilizers. Follow label instructions dosing every 2-4 weeks per crop requirements. Organic fish emulsion, compost tea feeds or kelp extracts offer added benefits. If plants show signs of deficiencies like yellowing leaves, increase feeding strength or frequency. Manage Pest Invaders Indoor conditions can enable rapid reproduction cycles for pesky spider mites, fungus gnats, thrips, whitefly and other common plant parasites. Check leaf undersides at least weekly searching for webbing, tiny eggs or crawling insects. Isolate and treat infested plants immediately to avoid spreading! Apply insecticidal soaps, neem oil or garlic sprays targeting culprits. Prevent flying pests by hanging sticky yellow card stock traps overhead. Sprinkle diatomaceous earth or crushed eggshell barriers around pot rims to block crawling invaders. Avoid overapplying harsh chemicals – beneficial ladybugs and other predatory insects help naturally regulate bad bugs when populations spike and compete for resources!
Enjoying and Troubleshooting Your Indoor Edible Bounty
Be prepared to patiently troubleshoot challenges and crop failures amid inevitable successes as you gain wisdom. Kill plants with kindness by gradually harvesting greens only as needed versus rapidly depleting an entire head of lettuce at once — this preserves longevity! Time carrot and radish thinning harvests around maturity rates listed on seed packets to plump crops at their prime sweetness. Herbs like basil and parsley thrive with frequent tip prunings, becoming bushier and delaying bolting. Contrarily, flowering plants like cilantro and dill should be allowed to continually reseed themselves. When stumped by problems, consult diagnostic plant directories to accurately identify deficiencies and remedies. Yellowed foliage typically indicates underfeeding but could also signal overwatering root rot or pest issues. Investing extra care into your indoor edible garden pays delicious dividends! okay I know you’re obsessed with microwaving everything but have you tried the alternative? Eating frozen things is VERY very good, superior even to microwaving the world. Case(s) in point: frozen grapes, frozen cookie dough, frozen watermelon, frozen yogurt (like actual yogurt you freeze not the store bought version), frozen soda (preferably in ice cube trays: diy mini popsicles mmm), the list goes on!
These sounds delicious but frozen food makes my stomach go weird :’-)

[image description: a photo of various red stim toys on a quilt cover depicting silhouettes of trees against a starry sky. Toys include a Crunchimal bear, a weighted heat bag plush, watermelon squishies, a dinosaur squishy, putty, silicone chew pendants on black cord, Tangle Jrs, a Wonder Woman Fidget Cube, a fidget spinner, a cube spinner, hedge balls, a prickle dinosaur fidget, a Boinks Fidget, a serpent puzzle, a plush watermelon zip pouch, a ladybird popper, a Mickey Mini Tsum Tsum plush, a massage ball, a water-bead watermelon ice pack, a marble maze, a marble loop, an apple squishy, a massage roller, a fidget stick and a mini bean bag.]
Given that it’s April, I thought an updated photo of all my red stim toys seemed appropriate. I’m still thrilled that I have the red Tangle Jr Fuzzy! Aside from Tangles, my most used items are the apple squishies, the prickle/massage ball (it helps a fraction with my chronic pain) and the Mickey Tsum Tsum plush. My newest favourite is definitely the Crunchimal!
This post should be going up while I’m having another biopsy on my hand, but once I have reasonable movement back (the site is really inconveniently located) I’d like to experiment with making DIY Crunchimal-style plush.

DIY AC for staying cool this summer
Want to beat the heat but don’t want to spend a fortune? Check out these 10 DIY AC (air conditioning) techniques for staying cool in your home this summer. See if any of these work for you! Read more here.
Don’t have an AC at your home? Trying to stay cool in this hot weather? Don’t worry, here is the solution for staying cool this summer. Try making your own DIY air conditioners. Sounds too complicated? You are about to find it way too easy.
We have listed down 10 DIY air conditioner ideas for you and your family:-
1. DIY AIR CONDITIONER WITH FAN AND ICE:-
This is the easiest hack to make your room cooler. You will only need a fan and some ice. Instead of blowing air around the room, the fan blows cold air. First of all, put some ice cubes in a tray. Now, put the fan near the ice tray and angle it down slightly towards the ice tray. Now the air will get cooled down as it passes over the ice.
However, this DIY AC isn’t going to last longer because the ice will get melted quickly because of the hot weather. Instead of ice cubes, you can use ice blocks for a better experience. Also use a faster fan for better results.
2. PORTABLE AIR COOLER MILK CARTON:-
This is a compact DIY AC to keep you cool. You will need a milk carton, a computer fan, some ice cubes, a 12V adapter, a soldering iron and a hot glue gun to complete this build.
Start this build by making a cut on the milk carton to fit the computer fan on it, using a hot glue gun. Now, connect the wires of the adapter and fan by the soldering iron. The next step is to put some ice cubes inside the milk carton.
The computer fan will blow the air into the carton, over the ice cubes. The cold air will come out through the opening of the carton.
This is a small build and the ice cubes will last longer because the milk cartons are designed to keep the product cool as long as possible. You can also use this build to cool a car, by using an USB car charger instead of the adapter.

3. ICE CHEST AIR CONDITIONER:-
You will be needing a Styrofoam ice chest, a compact fan, 2 angled PVC pipe joints and some ice cubes. This build is big enough to hold huge blocks of ice, so it will cool your for a longer time.
First of all cut out 2 holes on the styrofoam ice chest, big enough to fit the angled PVC pipe joints. Then cut another hole to fit the compact mini fan on the chest. Now fit the 2 pipes and the fan on the chest and put some ice blocks or cubes inside the chest.
The fan will blow the air into the chest, which will get cooled in the chest and the chilled air will come out through the pipes.
CONCLUSION:-
A DIY Air Conditioner project should be enough to help you stay cool. While it may not work as a long term solution, here are some natural ways to stay cool in this hot summer:-
Take a cold shower
Power down unnecessary electrics
Schedule your windows
