Can I hear more about Villain Thornclaw? The way you described him is a really cool take on his character.
He exudes a sense of detached ruthlessness, something happened and he just never got over it, most of the time he is a model warrior, but sometimes he says something or gives a cold look, and that hints just how much he is willing to do for his beliefs
The first warrior that Firestar named becomes his most insidious enemy.
He was too young to clearly remember Clawface snatching him and his little sister, but he does remember the way it became an early fixation. His favorite games were always reenactments and play fights, and his father Lionheart and kidnapper Clawface would be characters in them. He often would go too far and play rough, actually biting or scratching his playmate.
We, in the real world, may recognize this as a way kids often process trauma. But they don't have cat therapy here.
And quickly these fixations became unsettling. Brightkit didn't like these games, and their older siblings were disturbed. Frostfur reacted strongly and tried to intervene, but it didn't help the way they wanted.
He got good at hiding it, and he got better at finding other ways to express his fixation. He never knew Lionheart, but he DID know Grandma Speckletail, and she would tell him all about the ways he could be like his dad. When you don't know a person, they can be anything you want them to be.
Turns out if you dress up "I'm obsessively xenophobic of foreign cats and want to rip them to shreds" as "I will ferociously avenge my father and uphold his legacy," suddenly you're golden! It's that simple!
(it's almost like clan culture didnt actually value peace or kindness and just encourages you to channel ur violence towards specific ends)
Thornkit went from Grandma Speckletail to Mentor Mousefur, and she continued to cultivate this. There's a time and a place for aggression. Be good to your clanmates. Use words in camp, not claws. She made a good soldier out of him.
When ThunderClan had a reckoning with Tigerclaw and his ideology in TPB, during his coup, the line of thought that went through Thornpaw and the cats like him was that Tigerclaw was the problem. Who could have known! A shock! Sickening!
...for a while they were "better," devastated by his betrayal, more openminded. But minds don't always trend towards progress.
Eventually, Thornclaw backslid. Let's not throw out the kitten with the tonguewash, here. Yes yes, Tigerclaw was a damn traitor and a hypocrite, but there's worse cats to look up to, you can't deny his nobility, that some of his ideas were great for ThunderClan, that there were lofty ideals he merely took from our grand and glorious history and we can return to those days...
What is so terrible about being a thistle? To lash back when you are attacked? To defend the meadow for you and yours?
We can have Tigerclaw's good aspects without the bad, surely?
And Firestar...
You must understand it's nothing personal. Firestar's a fine cat, for a kittypet. There is no hate for him. But we can't have a leader who stops ThunderClan from engaging in honorable combat. The Clan has become too mixed, and he punished him simply for expressing his concerns. What other choice is there? To do nothing as the clans are destroyed from the inside out?
Bluestar brought wildfire to the forest, to burn it to the ground. Firestar is Thornclaw's natural enemy-- and so is every cat like him.

I want to bring up something serious here for once, because I joined a new Silmarillion group on FB (I'm old, ok?), and it's a particularly inclusive space BUT, because of that, there is a lot of debates going on. And I wasn't allowed to make this point there because the admins were saturated with risky posts.
I have seen a lot of people say things like "Tolkien wasn't racist/anti semitic because he was against fascism!". And I'm not here to discuss the logic on that, or accuse Tolkien of any of those. I'm here to bring up the fact that Tolkien supported Franco.
I get that to most people (even to me) he is not as well known as Hitler or Mussolini, but still. Tolkien supported him, a fascist and a terrible dictator, because of anti communism and very Catholics views. Franco's opposition burned catholic churches and killed nuns and priests. Now, I don't want to get into detail about the reasons behind that, and how different those actions are viewed depending on your history (For Tolkien, to whom being catholic make him part of a minority, this was very different to what it's for people from actual catholic countries in general and latin Americans in particular, in which the church, as an institution, was always complicit of dictatorships and oppression).
Even Lewis had called Roy Campbell, a poet who fought with Franco, as a sort of catholic fascist. And Tolkien considered that Lewis was just under the influence of red propaganda, believing only the things said against Franco. He couldn't understand Lewis reactions to Campbell's stories about his fight
This is mostly talked about in letter 83 which, I must admit, I haven't read. I have read other people's summaries of it. If anyone knows of some place where I could read it, please reach out and tell me.
My point here is not bashing on Tolkien. I've decided long ago I prefer not to engage too much with his personal history, since my position as a latin american, born so many years after him, raised as a catholic in a catholic country, with a VERY different history around it, makes my personal views very opposed to his in many levels.
My point is to bring awareness on the fact that Tolkien did indeed support one fascist regimen, and this is ignored by most people. I think it's not just that Franco is not as known for some as the other two, it's also that he seems to have a very different weight for those that speak Spanish and those who don't. For starters, this facts it's not included in his English wiki, while it's included on the one in Spanish. For me, that I usually try to read the English sources for English themed things, this meant that I didn't know about this until some days ago, and I learnt it through a meme.
So yeah, I just needed to tell this in case some other people are just as ignorant as me on this. Because the whole "Tolkien was against fascism" is something I have read too many times and never questioned, tbh. But maybe it was just me.
Picture of the Spanish wiki just for attention

huge fascist rally in rome (content warning for video)
from red.:
Hundreds of fascists marched in Italy doing the Roman salute used by the fascist leader Benito Mussolini until his death in 1945. The mob gathered on the anniversary of a far-left ambush attack against the youth organization of the far-right Italian Social Movement (MSI) party, the de facto successor party to Mussolini’s regime. The attack by militant revolutionaries in 1978 left two dead outside the MSI headquarters during the violent power struggle period between communist and fascist groups, dubbed “the years of lead.” Another member of the MSI youth wing died in the ensuing riots on the same day. The recent ceremony was also attended by local authorities, including Francesco Rocca, president of the Lazio region, and Miguel Gotor, the Councilor for Culture. Leaders of the ruling far-right Brothers of Italy party also expressed their support for the tribute. Italy’s current Prime Minister, Giorgia Meloni, also took her first political steps in the MSI youth movement at the age of just 15. Her mother was also active in the MSI and later joined its successor party, National Alliance.

Hello hello! I'm here for the QnA tag game! I'm a very big vampire fan and loved the quotes from Eugen Schulze. I would love to know more about him and maybe some insights on your vampire lore. Anything you wish to share!
Thank you!
Hello hello! Goodness, I have so many question to ask you as well!
I am really glad that you enjoyed his witty side. It has been really fun to roleplay as him, because I get to be this witty, but that is only his coping mechanism for all the morality he is trying to regain.
Some info about Eugen:
As bad as it is, back then he worked as a doctor/scientist for the Third Reich. The reasons behind this are, in fact, many, but the most important one, and the one he was the most apologist of, was eugenics. He truly believed in medical racism. This is, until he started to realise that his experiments weren’t consistent with what he considered to be true in the beginning, And he shifted his beliefs to a simpler one: all humans are weak, and they do not possess the control to be the best version of themselves. From this moment on, he abandoned his racist views, adopting a more neutral/pessimistic view on Humanity.
His character arc is based on regaining the Humanity he lost during WW2, though I don’t think he’ll be able to reach the end of that arc, since he still thinks quite poorly of the human condition. He also think poorly of the vampiric condition and the 3 basic curses of it (sun, fire and only being able to feed on blood). So, currently, he is doing scientific and esoteric research on how to surpass those curses and get only the best of the vampire condition.
During his decades of slumber (torpor), he started to have visions based on Gnostic beliefs (God, the false god, spiritual enlightenment as the key to “Monad”, etc.), and currently he is part of a cult that worships this god, that’s more akin to an Eldritch being, this Monad. However, the ones that are part of this cult (at least the guy that presented it to him) is not well-intentioned, so I think that this cult sold Eugen a false truth. This depends on the Storyteller, so I am still waiting to see what will come out of it.
Despite his misanthropic tendencies, Eugen actually enjoys people. Sometimes. He just wants to leave his mark on Earth by making it a better place, by sharing his knowledge with others. The ways in which he does so… however… are very morally grey…
Some other random facts about him:
- he collects coupons and he always like a good discount. You can find all of that in his jacket/coat.
- he is a goth, usually assuming a goth look when not working (long straight black hair, leather jacket and/or overcoat, combat boots, spikes, chains, black nail polish, etc.).
- when he was alive he suffered from an incurable neurological disease, that left him truly incapacitated. His sire (the vampire that transformed him) did so so he wouldn’t lose his memory, preserving the knowledge he was able to gather in life.
- he still works with his sire’s wife. It’s… very awkward at times…
- Eugen is a cleaning freak: if everything isn’t tidy around him, he starts stressing out (which happens frequently, because most part of our coterie - vampire group - is quite messy).
- regarding his political believes, they shifted around, quite much. He considers himself apolitical nowadays, and indeed, he left his old ideals behind, since they don’t make scientific sense to him anymore.
The lore around Vampire: the Requiem is biiiiig. Very, very big. But here are the basics:
- he is from a vampire clan called “Mekhet” (known for being scholars and for lurking in the shadows), more specifically a bloodline called “Norvegi”. Norvegi, generally, don’t have vampire fangs, feeding through touch (from their hands thousands of small needle-shaped projections emanate, sucking the blood of the victim they touch). Not all Norvegi are like this, and Eugen does have fangs, indeed.
- Vampires have many different powers, and clans usually have affinity for a certain set of powers. Eugen has Auspex (super-human intuition/clairvoyance), Protean (fleshcrafting) and Obfuscate (being one with the shadows).
- by spending some of the blood (Vitae) he drinks, he, like any other vampire, can pretend to be human (Blush of Life) for a limited time period.
- From his coterie (vampire group), the person he likes the most is Sue Jackson, and old vampire lady from the US, who has no clue on how to speak German and that walks around with false $500 dollar bills (as if they even existed).
- His two touchstones (the things that tie him to Humanity) are Alina, his therapist and Noah, an elderly man suffering from brain cancer, a survivor of the concentration camps, someone who crossed paths with Eugen back when he was alive and that he is trying to save at all costs, since he is hospitalised at the hospital where Eugen works in.
The whole point of Eugen’s character arc, in my perspective, is that, despite changing and being a new person, that does not erase the mistakes/horrible things he did in the past. And he knows that. But he is actively working towards the fact that those mistakes are not the only thing he’ll leave in the world, before suffering the Final Death. So, although I don’t think that there is any possible redemption for someone who was so inhuman as Eugen was, it is quite ironic and cathartic knowing that, as a vampire, he is more human than he was as a human.
Hope it helps to get a new perspective over Eugen, and if you have any doubts regarding any of the info, please just hmu!

There were violent protests yesterday in an attempt to invade the building of the Federal Police of Brazil from people who think the election were fraudulent since the elected president is from the left. They were also furious since one of their leaders, a man who allegedly uses his position as a leader to recruit indigenous people to commit crimes and supposedly wants to use violence to stop the elected president Lula to come to power in January.
They set fire to cars, buses, clogged streets to keep people from passing, tried to invade the Federal Police building and attempted to intimidate the elected president by rioting in an area where the hotel he was staying at is.
I was always afraid of something like this happening. And then it did. Those protesters were a violent few, our elections were not fraudulent.
I wanted to post this because I am Brazilian. There are plenty of blogs from other countries on tumblr who see protests happening and they fully spread misinformation because they fully support protesting against governments without even realizing that this protest was from the far right, who wants not only to stop the elected president to come to power, but to make others believe the election was fraudulent and to establish a far right military dictatorship again in Brazil.
This is similar to what happened in the US after trump didn't accept the elections, for context. Except what this people want is to completely destroy democracy in Brazil to establish a violent, oppressive military dictatorship as we used to have, and we've only been a democratic country for less than 40 years.
Please pay attention to anyone who spreads misinformation. Not every "protest" is against a violent government. Sometimes it is a mob trying to scare people from supporting the democratically elected president and to keep him from assuming office in January.
I repeat: no fraud was detected. Our electoral system is one of the safest in the world. The man who was arrested had several serious charges against him, and he and his allies support a far right outvoted president bolsonaro, and those "protesters" who have committed crimes against democracy.
Please check any sources in a post before spreading misinformation.

I've had a game idea bouncing in my head for a while but i don't have the skills to make it and probably won't for the foreseeable future, so instead I want to make it a collaborative comment-driven roleplaying project.
Content Warnings include, but will not be limited to: fascism, genocide, intense violence, fear-based imagery, (possible?) sexual content, major character death, torture, and strong language.
The story is an adult dark fantasy horror where you play as a mysterious winged rabbit in the nation of Veldant, a country currently in the process of exterminating its rabbit population. Your task will be to survive, take care of your kin, and (by extension, hopefully) stop the genocide against your kind. Along your journey you will encounter horrors and mysteries alike, as well as a bunch of survivors who you can form ties with.
You will run, you will fight, and maybe, just maybe, you will be able to thrive.
So what does everyone think of this? It'll probably still be a little while before I figure out everything, so this may take a short while.

heya! i've been reading a lot of your rewrite posts and i'm fascinated by everything, especially love the medical side of it. i read the first post about thistle law but i don't quite understand it. what exactly does it mean or is there another post that explains it? thanks!
Thistle Law is the name that I've given to the harshest possible interpretation of the warrior code! There are three names for the "ideologies" that Clan cats have now; Fire Alone, Traditionalism, and Thistle Law.
This post has a brief summary of all three.
In BB, I try to make sure that all characters (even background ones) have a consistent "political profile" of beliefs and leanings. Like real people, no cat is a perfect 'reflection' of their ideology and individual values are very important to understanding how they'll act in response to political happenings.
For example, tigerHeartstar leans Traditionalist on social issues (interactions with humans, her interpretation of the Queen's Rights, the utility of battle), but Fire Alone on diplomatic ones.
Thistle Law is what ur-fascism looks like in Clan society, adapted and simplified for the culture. When Thistle Law is popular, something is very wrong with the political climate. I have This Old Post explaining it in depth + my authorial intentions with it, but keep in mind it's a liiiittle outdated with the links.

About
Ran by: @starmeadowsystem, with aid from @rougewitchfox
Age Rec: 17+
Content Warnings: genocide, fascism, torture, blood, intense violence, dismemberment, fear-based imagery, mild/potential sexual content, major character death. This is not an exhaustive list, and more tags will be added as the story goes on.
Genre: dark fantasy, horror
Synopsis: You are a mysterious winged rabbit. You don't have access to your past, but you do know you're still alive for a purpose far bigger than yourself.
For years, the nation of Veldant has been killing rabbits and has already left a large body toll. They have made it clear that they won't stop until they're all dead. The task at paw is clear, is it not?
Maybe you can live a little, too.
So this is going to be like an interactive comic/cyoa with at least one image per decision because honestly I really want to tell this story in some way and I think this would be an interesting medium for it. The only problem with hosting this on Tumblr is that it may not be its permanent home. Who knows thus far tbh.
Archive under the read more click.

>?????
Chapter 1
>Fly up to see if you can spot anything in the distance. Find a nearby vantage point of some kind (a rock or small hill) and get a good look of the surroundings.
>head upstream along the river, where it should be narrower, in search for a crossing.
>Brace yourself and prepare for an attack.
>Take a moment to get your heartbeat back under control. "It's ok.. You're also alone, I can ask you the same question"
>Juniper and his warren seem to be the only chance we have for survival in this desolate land, we should follow him. "Sure, why not."
>Despite just meeting this guy, you trust him. Plus mysterious blue orbs won't hurt you... Right? Go in.
>It’s probably best to break this awkward silence. “Uhm.. hello there. Could someone please tell me what’s going on?”
>"...are you sure that was me? I don't remember living on an island. Then again, I don't remember much in general..."
>We start walking along with Juniper, waiting to be shown around. “Uhm.. I- why do we need to travel outside? Isn’t it dangerous up there?”
>"Den cause that seems cool"
>Let’s walk up to some friendly looking rabbits, hopefully we can make some friends, that would chime in useful.
>"I just want to talk, are you busy?" Friendliness engaged, also s h e
>"Yes.. What happened up there.. To all the rabbits?"

So I recently finished Owl House and I have some thoughts on how it handles the final boss better than Steven Universe.
Two things.
1. Spoilers for one or both series ahead. I'll tag it, dw.
2. This isn't putting them against each other. I fell out of SU due to unrelated trauma and Owl House is one of my favorite shows. This isn't dunking on SU.
So. The finale for SU everyone kind of hated, yeah? Because Steven basically talked to the Fascist Space Rocks that wanted to kill everyone. A lot of people were upset with it. To the point they made a follow-up series amounting to "Wow you've had a shit life dude that sucks".
Meanwhile, TOH has a finale where the Colonizer White Guy who wants to literally ascend to Godhood and kill all the Witches gets...fucking blasted. With a character we explicitly saying "I know we talked about friendship but this dude has to fucking die".
And that works better because sometimes in life it doesn't matter how much you like making friends...Fascism doesn't give a shit.
But that's why the two series are so different.
SU is about interpersonal conflict and growth. So many of the biggest moments are about Steven being true to himself, or accepting a truth he doesn't like or something. It's interpersonal. Which is IMPORTANT. It's GOOD to learn how to tell someone "I know things are kind of bad but we're still friends okay?" And "I am my own person and I love you, Mom/Dad, but I'm going to be ME."
But that fell apart when the enemy was a Fascist Space Rock. Because it was bigger than just interpersonal drama. But that's just a flaw with trying to tell a personal story with galactic stakes.
But TOH has the Collector pretty quickly handled by convincing them "You are hurting people even if you don't know it". But the major conflict was solved with destroying the evil. Because it accepts "Fascism can't be defeated with the power of love. You have to throw a fucking punch. Or a massive spell."
So when the Collector was stopped by telling him stories and showing him kindness, Belos was a fascist dick trying to murder people and thus "Hey making friends is about being kind" doesn't fucking work.
It fits the narrative and realistic expectations better. The idea being that someone like Emperor Belos/Phillip can't be talked down. You can't talk down a Fascist or a Nazi. You can't be their friend until they be nice.
And it's refreshing to see a show get that part right.

ive probably mentioned this before, but i want to mention that I will never forgive star wars fans for complaining about the thermal exhaust port.
Yes, it was a mistake to leave that weak spot, but that's the point. The empire practically worships power and huge weapons (because they are, among other things, nazi coded), so of course they overlooked a weakness that could only be exploited by a small insurgent force.
Yes, it's a bad decision. maybe that's because the imperial (fascist) ideology is fundamentally broken?

Historical McShep AU, pre WW2...
Short fic charting queer experiences between the wars. Excerpt:
“We should get out while we can,” Rodney said to John, who had tears gathering on his long lashes. “We’ve been too prominent to escape their net. We’ll be on lists.”
“And where exactly do we go to?” John said softly. “This was the safest place on earth to be who we are, and it turned so quickly, Rodney. We were surging forward and now…”
Rodney felt that deep within him. All the hope he had for this new more rational world. Hope wasn’t just dying back to some old Victorian stuffiness, this was a new and more potent evil, and it took everything he thought was good about the world and corrupted it to serve its hideous ends.
“Maybe we were pushing too hard,” Rodney said. “I had so much hope.”
“Don’t you dare, Rodney McKay,” John said, his voice thick. “Fascism doesn’t happen because of people like us. People like the Jews. It happens to people like us. It happened before, it’ll happen again. Same story, ad infinitum, so men like my dad can feel secure from mobs with pitchforks.”
