Dear all of my mutuals and followers who haven't listened to The Magnus Archives. What have you learned about the series from my reblogs and nonsensical ramblings about it?

Note: This Villain Highlight pertains to a villain whose very existence spoils the main twist in Chicory: A Colorful Tale. Spoilers under the cut!
Non-MB/CM Villain Highlight: The Brush from Chicory: A Colorful Tale
Why it's not a Magnificent Bastard: Manipulations aren't that impressive and is in fact a bit too needlessly cruel
Why it's not a Complete Monster: Having been corrupted by the negative emotions of countless wielders over literal centuries means it has no moral agency of its own
Why I find the Brush interesting:
oooooooooooooooo boy i fucking love this game and this is not the only non mb/cm villain highlight I'm making for it!
The main thing you have to understand about the Brush is that it is fundamentally symbolic in nature. The Brush as an entity is largely uninteresting; it tries to destroy Picnic. That's it. What it represents in the narrative, however, is part of the narrative's core: it represents legacy, it represents pressure, it represents that nagging feeling in your mind asking "what if you aren't good enough?". THAT'S what's interesting. that's what makes it an incredible antagonist.
Because Pizza and Chicory spend the entire game asking themselves if they're good enough to wield the brush, knowing who wielded it in the past. It's ultimately the corruption that drives the two into asking, into pondering and THIS is the source. The very artifact that's been handed down to Cardamom, to Blackberry, to Chicory, to Pizza. All of them cracked.
Blackberry even became a worse person; as much of a perpetrator of this unjust legacy as a victim. Not to mention it and the legacy it represents nearly killed Chicory personally and would have succeeded if it weren't for Pizza. And it's that that inspired the both of them to find the true source of their shared misery because it sure as hell wasn't Chicory.
Its eventual destruction even marks the end of a time period where art was restricted to One Talented Individual at a time- and the beginning of one where it isn't. Pizza and Chicory are incredible artists not because of their talent- which they still have- but because of their bravery, their resilience, and their dedication to take down the legacy that this villain represents.

Complete Monster Near Miss: Evil Delsin Rowe
Disqualifying Factors:
Genuinely loves his brother Reggie, to the point of flying into a grief stricken rage upon his death.
Qualifications:
Heinous Standard Met: Yes
Sells out his own tribe to Augustine to avoid torture, half-heartedly thanking them for "taking one for the team" when he sees she's left his tribe and family crippled and reduced them to slowly dying in bedridden agony.
Goes out of his way to massacre civilians for petty reasons, from attacking peaceful protestors to slaughtering street performers for annoying him.
Uses his powers to kill people in gruesome ways, from suffocating people to smoke, frying enemies down to cinders, and filling people full of enough neon emergy to make them explode from the inside out.
Corrupts the sympathetic and well intentioned Fetch Walker and Eugene Sims into joining him in causing havoc, convincing Fetch to start butchering protesters and innocent civilians and having Eugene unleash a demon army on a parking garage.
Strangles Hank Daughtry to death as his kid daughter desperately calls out his name just a few feet away, leaving his corpse on the dock for her to find later.
Kills Brooke Augustine by freezing her in concrete and throwing her off a building to make her shatter like glass, before stealing the powers of all the Conduits she'd collected over the years to become the most powerful Conduit on Earth.
When his tribe disowns him for his atrocities, he nukes their entire village in a fit of rage for being "ungrateful".
Taken Seriously: Yes
Delsin is a lot more quippy than Cole, but his atrocities are still taken seriously.
No Mitigating Factors: No
See above. While he does treat Reggie poorly at times, he still goes out of his way to protect him and goes on a rampage to avenge his death.

I have a fictional character named Michael who is a seemingly innocent-looking dog but is actually one of the most terrible godawful bastards in one of my bleakest WIPs. I'd say more but I don't want to disturb the acquaintance I'm reblogging this from lmao (it's that bad)

About
Ran by: @starmeadowsystem, with aid from @rougewitchfox
Age Rec: 17+
Content Warnings: genocide, fascism, torture, blood, intense violence, dismemberment, fear-based imagery, mild/potential sexual content, major character death. This is not an exhaustive list, and more tags will be added as the story goes on.
Genre: dark fantasy, horror
Synopsis: You are a mysterious winged rabbit. You don't have access to your past, but you do know you're still alive for a purpose far bigger than yourself.
For years, the nation of Veldant has been killing rabbits and has already left a large body toll. They have made it clear that they won't stop until they're all dead. The task at paw is clear, is it not?
Maybe you can live a little, too.
So this is going to be like an interactive comic/cyoa with at least one image per decision because honestly I really want to tell this story in some way and I think this would be an interesting medium for it. The only problem with hosting this on Tumblr is that it may not be its permanent home. Who knows thus far tbh.
Archive under the read more click.
Prologue
Start
>Naturally rugged look, couldn’t groom themselves even if they wanted to. Friendly-looking face. Pale gray, a dusty blue speckle. Dark eyes. skinny, hungry frame. Long twitching ears. Old bite scar on the flank.
>?????
Chapter 1
>Fly up to see if you can spot anything in the distance. Find a nearby vantage point of some kind (a rock or small hill) and get a good look of the surroundings.
>head upstream along the river, where it should be narrower, in search for a crossing.
>Brace yourself and prepare for an attack.
>Take a moment to get your heartbeat back under control. "It's ok.. You're also alone, I can ask you the same question"
>Juniper and his warren seem to be the only chance we have for survival in this desolate land, we should follow him. "Sure, why not."
>Despite just meeting this guy, you trust him. Plus mysterious blue orbs won't hurt you... Right? Go in.
>It’s probably best to break this awkward silence. “Uhm.. hello there. Could someone please tell me what’s going on?”
>"...are you sure that was me? I don't remember living on an island. Then again, I don't remember much in general..."
>We start walking along with Juniper, waiting to be shown around. “Uhm.. I- why do we need to travel outside? Isn’t it dangerous up there?”
>"Den cause that seems cool"
>Let’s walk up to some friendly looking rabbits, hopefully we can make some friends, that would chime in useful.
>"I just want to talk, are you busy?" Friendliness engaged, also s h e
>"Yes.. What happened up there.. To all the rabbits?"

Hello, and welcome to FairyClan!
For reference, I'm Bluey of @starmeadowsystem.
FairyClan is like your average Warriors Clan, but hopefully less cultlike and certainly more surreal and magical. I mean, just look at the name. It's FairyClan. Which has alllll the implications that fairies bring. Trickery, divine magic, you name it, we have it.
A few ground rules for interacting, though:
First and foremost, don't be weird. I think I'm like mentally 10-13 so please please pleeeease keep that in mind. You can expect violence you'd normally see in the books and not much else.
Don't be mean, either. Ableists, racists, queerphobes, you know the drill. I don't want to play with those kinds of people.
I can add rules at my discretion. It's my roleplay blog and I'm sticking to it. However, I'll only do it for clarification purposes or if something not technically covered by the rules reeeeally buzzes me off.
So with that out of the way, uhhh, have fun perusing my space, I guess.

Complete Monster Near Miss: Genocide Route Clover from Undertale Yellow
Note: this looks exclusively at Clover's actions in a genocide run. @autisticsupervillain has looked specifically at player characters on the Evil Route of games before, so I see this as fair game despite TvTropes and the Fandom Wikis saying otherwise.
Qualifications
Heinousness Standard: Met.
They kill over 80 innocent monsters in order to achieve their goals, making them a mass murderer. This is not an overstatement. Their important kills include, in order, Dalv, Starlo, Ceroba, Axis, Martlet, and Asgore.
They tear up Steamworks infastructure, killing the sapient robots there.
After killing Martlet and learning about Flowey's true motives, they personally and brutally kill him as well.
After killing Asgore, they take the five human SOULS with them to leave the underground to rot.
Lack of Redeeming Qualities: No
Taken Seriously: Yes
Other Qualifying Factors: Yes
It's worth noting that unlike Undertale, the player doesn't exist as an entity in the game and Clover is a defined character, with the genocide run playing on the darkest parts of their specific vision of "justice".
Disqualifying factors
Their goals are mildly well-intentioned: to allow the SOULs to rest after being held captive for so long. That being said, they kill too many innocent monsters out of vengance for this to be considered a major prevention, which Martlet and Ceroba both call them out on.
They have a mild sense of honor, allowing Martlet to flee in Snowdin and transform on the UGPS Apartment Roof when it would be more practical to simply kill her.

Complete Monster Near Miss: Alex Mercer from Prototype
Note: Not to be confused with the Real Alex Mercer who IS a CM. This is the Blacklight Virus after taking Mercer's identity. They are seperate characters.
Disqualifying Factors:
Genuinely loves his sister.
Was disgusted with the crimes of the real Alex Mercer.
Genuinely thinks he's saving humanity
Qualifications:
Heinous Standard Met: Yes
Released a deadly virus with a 90% fatality rate in the middle of New York City, killing hundreds of thousands, with the end goal of wiping out the entire city
Views his own lieutenants as entirely expendable, showing completely indifference to their deaths and assimilating two of them before his final fight with Heller for a power up.
Has personally assimilated, mauled, and devoured countless people, both soldiers and civilians alike.
Contaminates the cure to his disease to infect and mutate people into monsters who rampage indiscriminately.
Kidnaps and infects Sgt. James Heller's underage daughter, intending to use her to infect the entire world.
Intends to assimilate the entire human race.
Played Seriously: Yes
Serves as the main villain of Prototype 2 and the instigator of the entire plot. He's taken dead seriously at all times.
No Mitigating Factors: No
See above

praying to the gods that this won't happen to Souls of the Broken Warrens (which is probably going to be something else?? idk) (i admit it would be funny though) (I take that back this is a story about a large-scale genocide i don't think it would be funny)

You know i think the existence of KOSA is evidence enough that project 2025 has a chance of going through regardless of whether or not Trump is elected president this year. Don't stress too hard on electoralism okay? Save that stamina for other avenues of political activism like protesting, mutual aid,
