Cutting Costs As a Landlord Without Compromising On Quality
As a landlord, you have several responsibilities and necessities that you have to fulfil and while some are cost-free, others can rack up a bill if not handled properly. Everything from insurance to maintenance costs and mortgage fees can all add up and cutting costs can feel like a necessity. However, it’s important not to cut costs in the wrong places – poor insurance, reduced maintenance or…

I SIGNED UP FOR THE CERTIFICATE PROGRAM!
it's 7 courses, roughly 20 hours each, at the culmination of which I'll have to hand in a 25k novella for a panel of Canadian authors to evaluate. so obviously I'm going to write about an ancient demon who swallows the soul of a baby and enters its body, only to get trapped and essentially regress, so that its generals have to hover around nervously trying to parent it.

I'm debating starting a youtube. One of the things I love about learning how to do stuff is sharing the process and skills involved with people and that seems to be the preferred platform for that kind of thing; I find that with a lot of what I'm making it's so niche or weird that there's not easily findable tutorials on how to do what I want to do, so maybe it would help if I made them? Tiktok is okay as a quick and easy way to slap process videos together but I kind of hate it and I also don't like how unsearchable and short-lived content is there.
Youtube would be a lot of work, and I'm not convinced it would be worth the effort, but on the other hand, if I could get some traction there, it would be nice to have passive ad revenue to offset project costs without having to directly sell the random crap I'm making.
I dunno, guys. This site has been home for my art for a long time, and I don't see that changing, but it would be nice to have resources to put into some of the larger projects that aren't directly sellable.

You know those wooden dinosaur skeleton models you can buy from museum gift shops, that are usually simple and variably off-model? I used to have a tripod Tyrannosaurus back when I was a kid decades ago.
So there's a company in Chile that makes those, but scientifically accurate! Wonder Artistic Models. I've known about them for couple years now, I think, but after losing my job couldn't afford to buy one.
Untill now.
They had a pretty big discount campaign last month and hey, guess how that went.

as a 16th century clergyman what does machete think of the printing press
I think by the time he was born the printing press had been around for almost a century and a half, so I'd reckon the society as a whole was largely past it's initial novelty and controversy. Machete himself is bookish and nerdy, he's very invested in gathering knowledge about various topics and trying to piece together a good picture of how the world works. Getting access to reading material would be a lot harder if every book was still copied individually by hand. His standards are pretty high though, there's a lot of poorly translated, shoddily printed and flimsily bound books around and he's prone to scrunching his nose at them.

ok last post of the day
I still think Ludinus is delusional with this tape because like. He's trying to convince a dysfunctional family of fuck-ups that a dysfunctional family of fuck-ups isn't worth saving.
someone correct me if I'm wrong, but I think his whole point is "the gods destroyed Aeor rather than destroying their siblings which would have been the easy solution that would've ended the war"
but the thing Ludinus isn't getting is that Bells Hells would understand the gods. They almost killed each other over a sword like two nights ago. Laudna has an evil dead lady in her head slowly gaining more and more control over her. Orym is destroying himself to get the job done. Imogen is a couple rock bottoms away from being a vessel for Predathos. Fearne's daddy issues might end the world. Chetney refuses to talk about his problems until they are staring him down. But they will not do the "easy" thing. They will not get rid of each other because the idea of that is so unfathomable that they would rather try and fail to save each other than succeed at anything less noble. So Imogen and Laudna try and make a relationship work. The whole group agrees to at least try to communicate. Orym protects them, even though logically he should probably neutralize at least some of them in the best interest of the world. Fearne relies on her friends to tell her the right path. Chetney makes them gifts and slowly unravels the hidden parts of himself.
it's not whether the gods are right or wrong. It's not "poor wizards" or "the gods should have just left". Morality has always been a shifty thing in this campaign, so at this point I think it's out of the equation. Now what matters is what Bells Hells see when they look at this tape. Do they see what Ludinus sees, a bunch of illogical decisions that ended a great (read: dystopian) wizard city? Or do they see themselves reflected in gods-made-mortal?
(and for the people who really want to talk about the morality of this, I'm now like 95% sure Predathos is not going to stop with the gods so we have the end of the world to contend with)

Cutting Costs In Your Trade Business The Right Way
Times are tough and with costs constantly rising, you certainly wouldn’t be alone in searching for ways to cut down your outgoings. If you work in a trade, everything from licencing and legal fees to construction materials and tool costs can add up and leave you out of pocket if not managed properly.  While it can be tempting to reach for cheaper materials or to drop outgoing costs like insurance…

4 Hidden costs to consider when buying a house
Even though it might appear to make sense to buy rather than rent, to move to an area where property is cheaper or to downsize to save money on your mortgage, there may be some hidden costs you should consider before buying a house - is the move worth it?
Collaborative feature When I was looking to buy my first home, it made financial sense; we were paying more on rent than it would have cost to mortgage the same kind of house. We also had a deposit saved but our savings were earning little-to-no interest. And, most importantly, our budget would cover the associated monthly bills. But that was 6 years ago and things have changed a lot since we…

"When the publisher of Sports Illustrated and Men’s Journal announced last week that its magazines would start to publish AI-generated articles, its CEO assured readers that the practice wouldn’t result in a decline in quality."
Men's Journal's AI-generated article: 18 serious factual errors
CNET's AI-generated articles: rampant factual errors and also plagiarism
Using AI to generate articles is the modern journalistic equivalent of selling "strawberry jam" made of red dye and no strawberries

I know everyone and their mother has given their opinion on the watcher situation, but as someone who is critical of this decision, I want to make it clear: no one is saying that they don't deserve to be paid a living wage. what people ARE saying is that there had to be a better way to do this.
if they truly needed money they could have:
promoted their patreon more
do a hybrid model where less "advertiser friendly" shows could be behind a paywall
release recordings of their live shows for money
advertised perks for joining youtube premium
be open and honest about needing money and asking for donations via gofundme or kickstarter or however they chose
there are people willing to spend money on them. The amount of patrons, the number of people who buy merch, and those who pay to go to live shows, should prove that. those who say otherwise are misunderstanding the situation, or maybe even purposefully misrepresenting it
