Are the palaces’ finest up to the job? You might think that the younger, more digitally native royals and their advisers would be more adept at handling the modern media environment, while fuddy-duddy Charles and Camilla would not. But one of the most surprising subplots of the medical drama that has played out in London over the past few months is how well Charles and Camilla have played their hand compared with William and Catherine.
[...]
The Waleses, guided by Lee Thompson, who cut his teeth at Freud Communications, a P.R. agency, before moving to CNBC and NBCUniversal, where he was praised for his digital and social-media skills, were less sure-footed. Their initial decision to give no details of Catherine’s surgery in January but to simply indicate it was serious—two weeks in the hospital, followed by months recuperating at home—created a vacuum that social media was only too eager to fill. William’s last-minute decision to pull out of speaking at a memorial service for his godfather, King Constantine of Greece, in February, citing a “personal matter,” further cranked the rumor mill. Kate’s amateurish Photoshopping of her family photograph, released on Mother’s Day in the U.K., revved up the global online guessing game about her health. Her apology for the “confusion” the image had caused, but not her decision to doctor it, opened up her and her family to derision. By now distrust of Kensington Palace was such that when the Waleses allowed newspapers to publish a grainy image of them during a visit to a farm shop in Windsor, many wondered if it wasn’t them at all, but rather doppelgängers. Thompson and the Waleses appear no match for Andreae and the King and Queen, but those close to both Buckingham Palace and Kensington Palace say other forces are at play. Paddy Harverson, a media strategist who has worked with most of the senior royals, points out that Catherine and William needed time to come to terms with her diagnosis and explain it to their three young children. True and reasonable. But with 20/20 hindsight, waiting weeks and weeks to reveal the truth was far too long. Those close to the Waleses also criticize newspapers for reporting on the social-media speculation, “which they knew to be batshit crazy but ran with it anyway because it produced headlines and clicks, which generate revenue.” Some observers draw a distinction between the Waleses’ and the King and Queen’s attitudes to the press. One seasoned royal correspondent points out that Charles and Camilla are “much more experienced in crisis management than any other members of the royal family. They have seen it all and have the scars to prove it and, as a result, are much more relaxed these days about how much information they share.” By contrast, “William and Kate are more private and can be very stubborn,” he says. “When they get an idea in their head—for instance, ‘we won’t share any medical details’ or ‘here is the one picture we want to release to the media’—it can be hard to shift them.” He adds that “thanks to Harry’s endless court cases in London, people assume that he is the brother who loathes the press, but, if anything, William hates the media more. He naturally wants to protect his family, but that does not always mean he and Catherine make the right decision.” Some observers, for instance, say it was a misstep not to follow Charles’s lead and release some private pictures of Catherine at home reading “Get Well Soon” cards. What Charles and Camilla seem to know is that while the newspapers might be sweet-talked and occasionally bullied into playing the “we need you, you need us” royal media game, no institution can win a firefight with unregulated social media. Not least when it turns out the keyboard warriors have a point: Kensington Palace was not telling the full truth, whether Catherine might have wanted to reveal it or not.

Sports communications lessons from Jerry Maguire
Sports agents are facing challenges after a new FIFA exam was established to weed out the rogues with some reports suggesting that many of them will fail the new examinations.
I've worked with, and got to know, many agents over the course of my working life - with a hat tip to Calacus friends Rachel Anderson and Nick Robinson who we hold in high esteem.
Here are some key outtakes from one of my all time favourite sports agent-focused movies - Jerry Maguire.
Be ethical - As some of you will know, the story hinges on Jerry's decision to write a mission statement that promotes honest and genuine relationships with clients, rather than just chasing money. He is given a wake-up call by the son of an injured player who doesn't want to see his Dad get hurt anymore. By the end of the film, Jerry's compassionate approach wins and other agents try to emulate him.
Outtake: While a key role in sports management is commercial partnerships, businesses which focus on profits over people tend to struggle.
Be honest - Having struck out on his own to pursue a more genuine approach as an agent, Jerry risks losing his only client, Rod Tidwell, by holding true to his values. This consistency ultimately wins Rod's trust and credibility by the end.
Outtake: Telling clients the truth, if it is in their best interest, may impact the relationship negatively in the short term but it will only lead to a stronger relationship - and better results for the client - long term.
Be patient - When Jerry is fired from his agency, he ends up losing all but two of his clients (with his star boy betraying him and leaving on the night of the NFL draft). He maintains his external persona of positivity but shows signs of struggle when things do not go according to plan. Despite feeling the pressure, he sticks to his values and eventually things take a turn for the better.
Outtake: Good ideas and indeed good work take time to come to fruition.
Listen - Despite his epiphany, Jerry takes time to understand the importance of living his values, which includes actively listening to clients and what they need.
Outtake: Effective communication involves actively listening to others and understanding their perspectives rather than just shoe-horning our own bias and agenda. Communication should always be a two-way street.
Be human - Rod struggles because he is defensive and wary of others. It's only when he lets his guard down and starts to show his true self that he captures the imagination of his fans and wider NFL audience, ultimately securing the contract he has yearned for.
Outtake - In this dog eat dog word sometimes we forget to be authentic, but our authenticity is what sets us apart from the crowd.
Make an impact - Jerry knows how to turn on the charm, and that's one of his strengths. He also knows how to grab the attention of his wife, Dorothy, despite facing a room of critical divorcees.
Outtake - Learning how to stand out and make your point, in today's world of short attention spans, is more important than ever.

So I have to write a press release about a crisis for a fictional organization and I'm allowed to be as unrealistic as I want so long as its in AP format and I show off my crisis communication skills. I am basically treating this as a chance to write fanfic but I don't know what organization to chose so Tumblr gets to pick

Like…if you’re so secure in your decision why do you need to keep explaining it? If you’re so sure this was the right thing to do…what does it matter what anyone thinks? If you’re confident this is going to work couldn’t you just let the results speak for themselves? Could it maybe be that you’re not so sure this is going to work hmmm? And maybe you need to get ahead of it and make sure people think this was the best of bad options?

Loki (2004) & Blood Brothers Thoughts
Or: Why Does This Loki Look Like An Old Man?
Tumblr media
I know Old Man Loki is meant to look:
Different than usual, because of the (overdue) revisionism going on in this mini-series
Visually-opposite to Thor & other Asgardians via an art-style/surface-othering extreme
Like someone for whom the reader is supposed to have the same off-putting, visceral, Asgardian-esque reaction (at first)
But I’d rather think narratively, Brent! ;\
Tumblr media
So, how come Loki doesn’t shift out of his old man shape? (Note: “he” pronouns incoming throughout, since that’s how Loki identifies in this comic.) Does Loki not shapeshift because he’s simply over it, or is this how he thinks he actually looks? I feel like one could interpret it either way, as in: “This is me, bitches, and I also have less teeth thanks to y’all so deal with it/look upon it” (very Skyfall-esque), versus the alternative: “This story’s finally being told from my POV, so how I look outside is a metaphor for how I’m personally feeling inside” (aged and tired, emotionally broken, and giving no fucks except in secret) ...
Deeper pondering beneath the cut!
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
It’s just … after Loki has this “interaction” with Daia, he looks notably different for awhile. This Loki has finally been to the salon. This Loki has had a protein shake and applied some moisturizer.
So, were either the sexytimes just that good, or … well, does he shapeshift for the sexytimes, but not for anything else? Not even when appearing vengefully before the entirety of Asgard? He only reserves a more stereotypical aesthetic for the intimate sexings? Really?! It's not exactly unheard of, but ... maybe we should unpack that! Orrrrrr perhaps: is this actually how Loki looks, since he just woke up that way, and the entirety of the rest is a self-loathing, this-is-how-I’ve-been-taught-to-see-myself, roiling-emotions-unkempt theater? (Note how, above, the grizzlings return when he plops ye old helmet back on and starts thinking about his lot in life again. Which is it?)
TL;DR: Excuse me sir, is your old man look intentional or a styling issue?! ANSWER THE QUESTION SIR etc
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Other thoughts that fit nowhere else:
Loki's drinking so much in here; no wonder his nose is red! Does alcohol age gods after awhile? How's Dionysus holding up?
Perhaps Asgardians feel that a leader should look old and grizzly and Odin-esque ... if Old Man Loki is shapeshifted, maybe he's meant to imitate/mock Odin and a paternalistic all-father idea itself by doing so (valid)
Loki's birth mother has a similar face-shape, and yet she doesn’t look nearly as aged and grizzly — so even if frost giants age faster in this worldbuild, something else seems up (esp since Loki mumbles to himself about how he thinks Farbauti looks awful, yikes, and also how suddenly-aware he is that he's been raised to feel thusly, double yikes)
P.S. This mini-series gave me flashbacks to the once-prevalent Star Wars sequels fic trope: “Kylo becomes Supreme Leader but it sucks because he doesn't actually like or want it;” I’m certainly not complaining, yet now I feel old and grizzly in recalling it :p
Tagging @yells-of-the-not-so-danged here so I don't ponder-hijack your post! What are your three theories?

Yeah, I really want to see more of 3 and Shadow's relationship.
3 gets shadow's undivided attention and love for as long as he is in that "small and vulnerable child" stage. the only person who shadow lets get close to 3 is sonic because sonic smells like 3 (for obvious reasons). sonic takes many, MANY pictures of shadow being way-too-cute with that little freak baby 3 and shares them with rouge. shadow will certainly kill him for this once he snaps out of it

Five ways to minimise a reputational crisis
One look at the news headlines shows how many organisations are complacent, fail to prepare or don’t listen to their advisers, panicking when a crisis strikes, often causing long-term reputational damage.
It’s worth reminding yourselves that it’s rarely the crisis that causes the problem – it’s the way the crisis was handled, particularly when issues are dismissed as unimportant, those affected are not considered, or those involved try to point the finger at others for the problems they now face.
So remember these points to give yourself the best chance of coming out unscathed when a problem occurs.
Be prepared. You insure your house, your car, your health but what about your reputation? Do regular audits of potential problems and deal with them. Undertake regular crisis simulations and procedural reviews and refresh your media training and put sensible measures and precautions in place, as well as a positive and adaptable mindset.
Build trust before, during and after a crisis. Develop strong relationships with your stakeholders and let them know directly as soon as anything bad happens. Keep channels of communication open, even if your responses to media, for instance, are measured and strategic rather than reactive.
Do not hide when a crisis strikes. If there is a void where you are not fronting up and giving your side of the story, there will be others all too happy to fill the void. Speculation and ‘expert’ voices are quick to share their often-negative opinions and interpretations, so make sure you have a prepared list of messages for any potential criticism.
Ensure that your spokespeople and leadership are aligned on addressing issues and the media. That means being humble, listening to the concerns of others and being prepared to apologise. Those who are most successful when a crisis strikes tend to show compassion and understanding as well as being honest, accountable and transparent. Showing concern is not the same as admitting liability as many legal experts may try to suggest.
It’s worth underlining how important honesty is in crisis communications. Any attempts to hide or distort the truth make a situation worse, without fail.
Remember, as Benjamin Franklin once said,  “by failing to prepare, you are preparing to fail.”
If you need crisis communications support or media training, please get in touch!

yulian this, yulian that...
okay how abt my boy blue like yk him n his sexual habits for reader n shi!!!
n what abt him n reader be in love n having lil babies THAT LOOK EXACTLY LIKE THEM LIKE ARGHHHHHHH OMG IM IN LOVE WITH HIMMNNNN
Now we are TALKING.
Blue's sex drive was almost nonexistent until he met Reader. Even then, it was not really something he pursued, just an extra bit of cherry on top of a cupcake.
But he could fuck if you want to, he's still an eager teenager in bed at the end of the day no matter how old he was.
He could be turned on if you teased him too far or if he saw something he shouldn't see from you. Whether the two of you fuck or not was more of your consent.
He focused more on you and lasted longer stamina and ejaculation-wise (lol, I will never be able to see him Canon here tho).
He's an eager learner too~ (he's a prodigy so it'll probably only take him few trials and errors)
As for children, he's not opposed to it though he'd rather have it thoroughly planned.
If he wants to have one, that child will be raised well. That means he has to properly recover mentally to ensure his child lives a fulfilling life(?)

Saranrae saying that she only hears the prayers of those who mean it does makes the interactions with the Wildmother during the split even more crunchy: Fearne essentially tells her that she thinks she might be full of shit, but Orym doesn't and she loves Orym and needs him to know that, to feel it and to be safe. so she's asking the Wildmother to prove her wrong, and she recieves nothing in response but a cold wind. Meanwhile Orym pleads with the Wildmother in the night for some kind of miracle, something to convince his disillusioned friends she's worth risking everything to save.
and the spirits he dances with may be her doing, it may even be her gift from Fearne. but Orym just came from a town where the eidolons and spirits of their earth were treated as discrete from the prime dieties; and besides, is there any amount of beauty that makes up for a searing blade in the back from a position of forced subjugation? and besides, he asked for a moment for his friends, not him. and what they and Orym learn next of the Wildmother is her seeming abandonment of a favorite, a devoted follower in the form of Bor'dor's mother, to die brutually in defense of her worship. it's not really surprising that Orym turned to someone actually willing to promise results. Nana Morri will at the very least uphold her side of the deal, no matter what price Orym has to pay for it.
none of this means the Wildmother is bad or that she doesn't care, but its a series of failures to either act, or communicate that she acted, that have cost her some of the faith she needs now more than ever. the gods "working in mysterious ways" will get them nowhere in these last few desperate hours, when faced with those in immediate need. (something you can see them start to realize as more and more of them begin to reach out very directly).
