The cause of freedom is not that of others more than it is mine: it is universally human. If I want the slave to become conscious of his servitude, it is both in order not to be a tyrant myself — for any abstention is complicity, and complicity in this case is tyranny — and in order that new possibilities might be opened to the liberated slave and through him to all men. To want existence, to want to disclose the world, and to want men to be free are one and the same will.

I discovered i was polyamorous twice.
The first time I was playing dnd with mates and we stopped a dual over a woman, by convincing them to be a throuple. Another player said yeah imagine it, wake up next to your love, kiss them good morning, and then turn to your other love and kiss them good morning too. I said yeah that sounds great, then had a crisis over how great it sounded. I spent a few days mulling it over and decided I wasn't poly. Because I would only be able to get married once, and if i fell in love twice that would hurt. I also didn't want to have to explain it to my family. So i wasn't.
Then i fell in love with the greatest man i've ever met. We grew and changed together, helped each other discover ourselves and what makes us happy. We learnt together we were poly. But just in the fun sexy way.
Then I fell in love again. I'm polyam in the romantic way too. But now i've fallen in love with someone who is monogamous. He wouldn't want to be in a polycule. So i just have to wait for this crush to pass.
I usually make a point that i'm writing for myself, but for once, I need to hear from my community. My polyam community is limited irl, any advice you can give would be appreciated.

The Philosophy of Curiosity
The philosophy of curiosity explores the nature, origins, and implications of human curiosity, which drives individuals to seek knowledge, explore new experiences, and ask questions about the world around them. Curiosity has long been recognized as a fundamental aspect of human cognition and behavior, playing a central role in scientific inquiry, philosophical reflection, and everyday life. Here are some key aspects and theories within the philosophy of curiosity:
Epistemic Curiosity: Epistemic curiosity refers to the desire for knowledge and understanding, motivating individuals to seek information, explore new ideas, and engage in intellectual pursuits. Philosophers have debated the nature of epistemic curiosity, its origins in human cognition, and its role in shaping scientific progress and cultural development.
Aesthetic Curiosity: Aesthetic curiosity pertains to the exploration of beauty, art, and creativity, driving individuals to seek out new experiences, appreciate diverse forms of expression, and engage with works of literature, music, visual art, and other cultural artifacts. Aesthetic curiosity raises questions about the nature of artistic inspiration, cultural interpretation, and subjective experience.
Existential Curiosity: Existential curiosity concerns the exploration of existential questions about the nature of existence, meaning, and purpose, motivating individuals to reflect on their own lives, values, and beliefs. Existential curiosity encompasses inquiries into topics such as the nature of consciousness, the search for transcendence, and the quest for personal fulfillment.
Philosophical Curiosity: Philosophical curiosity involves the pursuit of philosophical inquiry, critical thinking, and self-reflection, prompting individuals to question assumptions, challenge conventional wisdom, and explore fundamental concepts such as truth, morality, justice, and reality. Philosophical curiosity underlies the practice of philosophy as a discipline and informs broader intellectual endeavors.
Ethical Curiosity: Ethical curiosity concerns the exploration of ethical questions and moral dilemmas, motivating individuals to consider the consequences of their actions, empathize with others, and strive for moral growth and development. Ethical curiosity raises questions about the nature of moral values, ethical principles, and the pursuit of the good life.
Cognitive Curiosity: Cognitive curiosity encompasses the exploration of cognitive processes, mental states, and psychological phenomena, driving individuals to understand how the mind works, how knowledge is acquired, and how beliefs are formed. Cognitive curiosity informs research in fields such as psychology, neuroscience, and cognitive science.
Cultural Curiosity: Cultural curiosity involves the exploration of diverse cultures, traditions, and worldviews, prompting individuals to learn about different societies, languages, and customs, and to appreciate the richness of human diversity. Cultural curiosity fosters intercultural understanding, global awareness, and cross-cultural communication.
Metacognitive Curiosity: Metacognitive curiosity pertains to the exploration of one's own cognitive processes and learning strategies, motivating individuals to reflect on their own thinking, monitor their own understanding, and adapt their learning strategies to achieve greater intellectual growth and self-improvement.
Overall, the philosophy of curiosity explores the multifaceted nature of human curiosity and its profound influence on knowledge, creativity, personal growth, and the human condition.

"How do you stick with one project for so long without abandoning it" "How do you just sit down and work" "How do you make yourself keep working on a comic" "How do you draw and write when there's so many games to play instead--" The answer to these questions is always "I really don't think you understand the degree of hyperfixation I have for these characters." "But how do you keep the same hyperfixation?? Mine only lasts a month or two--" I was obsessed with a single manga from the time I was 15 years old until... Wait, still obsessed, but I think the last time I did fanart for it was two or three years ago now. (My friends know not to accidentally trip the wire and set off a gushing volcano of love on the topic of said manga. I will info dump with the fist of a very neurodivergent god.)

Growing up is weird.
Not only that, but knowing you’re growing up is even weirder.
Still fitting into my mother’s careful arms like a puzzle piece, but only just.
Finally being able to reach all the high shelves, being eye-to-eye with my parents, equals instead of the power imbalance of being young and old. Them pretending they’re still bigger.
Knowing where my parents kept all the chocolate they didn’t want little me eating.
Finally understanding every joke on that show my father would always watch.
Realising my small town isn’t the entire world.
Trying to hang on to the last threads of childishness that society will allow you to show.
Which is strange, because we’re all just children in eye-makeup, putting stickers on our lighters, really, trying to pretend our actions don’t have consequences.
Blood on your hands replacing the cookie crumbs around your mouth as you defend ‘I would never do that!’
Stick your hand in the cookie jar and rip out someone’s heart.
Liars turn into bigger liars.
White lies darken with age.
You blindly try to pretend that this is just another make believe world, that we’re all just puppets, chess pieces you move around the board, that the guts you’ve spilled don’t matter, because nothing does in the scheme of things, we’ll all be dust eventually.
You pretend to be bigger.
But if it was you with a hole in your skull, I’d think it would matter to you then.
To your parents.
To those cookies that will never be eaten.
Don’t leave them to rot just because you haven’t grown up yet.

Quote
Do not be an embodier for fame; do not be a storehouse of schemes; do not be an undertaker of projects; do not be a proprietor of wisdom. Embody to the fullest what has no end and wander where there is no trail. Hold on to all that you have received from Heaven, but do not think you have gotten anything. Be empty, that is all.

the anarchy paradox
i'm not even twenty and the world is collapsing. natural disasters, failing economies, shootings, corruption, it feels like a bad remake modeled around a teenager's cliche apocalyptic novel concept. i can only hope that i live long enough to see a peaceful, post- post-apocalyptic society.
when i was younger, dumber, and more pretentious, i'd tell you i was an anarchist. i'd get giddy at the idea of chaos, i'd get a rush thinking about a societal crash. the truth is, i was a kid who had no idea what the hell i was talking about.
as i know it, an anarchist society isn't possible. the idea of self-policing is dependent on honesty, trust, and every individual being naturally good. the fault lies in human nature. after all, if all humans were inherently good and moral, which is already a very touchy and subjective matter, then society's issues wouldn't exist. and if society's problems didn't exist, there wouldn't be a need for anarchy, we wouldn't need to change.
true anarchy can only work in a world where it isn't needed.

Part 17
CW: canonical treatment of house elves (sorta)
Kreacher tried to fight Regulus on who should give their blood to the warding. Regulus didn’t let him. It was his decision and he already felt terrible bringing Kreacher back to a place he almost died. When they were facing the lake with the little island of crystal that Kreacher had described to him, Regulus turned to him.
“When we get the locket, take it straight back to Grimmauld Place. No matter the state I am in. Destroy it, Kreacher. That’s an order.
Kreacher stood so stiffly the Regulus thought his spine might snap. He clearly wanted to sat something; to defy him. But he gave a short nod and stayed quiet.
“Thank you, Kreacher.” Whispered Regulus.
They took a dingy across the still water, sending unnatural ripples into the darkness. When the boat knocked into the island, Regulus stepped out followed closely by Kreacher. Their steps crushed and crunched crystals under their feet.

Rambles and thoughts while writing under the cut:
So sometimes I have a lot of random thoughts while I'm writing these scenes but I don't want to make the posts super long so I'm gonna put them here.
It really bothers me how house elves are written in canon and even most fanfiction. I've read very few fics where the enslavement of house elves is seen as bad by characters. So in this story, I'm going to be changing some things about house elves, especially that they like being enslaved cuz that's just fucked up. No, Kreacher is not free. Yes, he has prejudiced ideas about blood purity seeing as he has been conditioned to from birth. Regulus treats him relatively well since I do not want to write a protagonist being happy to have a slave. (But no matter how well he treats house elves, he's still a slave owner) However, I don't think at this point Regulus would fully have a grasp on the ethics of house elf slavery and he probably doesn't have the power to free Kreacher anyway. In the future, he will regret some of his actions toward Kreacher and his opinions about house elves. Eventually, he would totally join SPEW.
All of this isn't a big part of the story but I will never write a fic that either supports or ignores slavery no matter how fictional it is.
(Usually my rambles won't be as heavy)

I feel kind of insane that it was a very strong consensus that AI voices are unethical because the original VAs never consented to their voices being used in this way, are not compensated, and their voices are being used for things they never agreed/would never agree to say and it doesn't matter if these uses are commercial in nature or not, it feels very ghoulish, but one of the biggest trends rn is AI covers of songs and they're being pumped out like crazy and people are falling over themselves to defend people who don't have big time production budgets using them instead of hiring someone on Fiverr or imitating the voices themselves or voice clip mixing and sampling pre-existing lines like the olden days. ok. alright. Good to see some of you out there have the moral fortitude of a wet paper straw
