Why you should watch
created by Adi Shankar, showrunner and exec producer of BOTH Castlevania series on Netflix. you can tell a lot of love went into this, the creators were having so much fun
basically a universe of Ubisoft IPs
adult animated series with intriguing storylines, dynamic artstyle, amazing animation, a killer soundtrack and super cool characters
QUEER INDIAN DISABLED PROTAGONIST, DOLPH LASERHAWK IS SO COOL
multimedia style storytelling
Rayman goes postal. Yes, THAT Rayman.
classic sci-fi themes of standing up to your tyrannical technocracy
Suicide Squad vibes; criminals pulling heists for a secret organization (THE GOOD SUICIDE SQUAD, NOT THE JARED LETO ONE)
but it grows into so much more as the show continues
Over-the-top anime-inspired style balanced out with emotional and so very real voice-acting
Seriously, Rayman's voice-actor deserves awards for this performance
there's this frog. his name is Bullfrog. he's French. he's part of the Assassin Brotherhood. you will LOVE HIM.
the end is CRAZY, it will take you out at the KNEES
BUT it leaves you on a cliffhanger, CLEARLY setting up for season 2
and I need that season 2 so how bout it, give Captain Laserhawk a try. It's six episodes, you'll only lose like half a day on it.

11 years ago today, my first novel The Brotherhood was published. 5 years ago today, the second edition of The Brotherhood was published.
The Brotherhood remains my most popular book. I've been talking with some people in TV about making it into a limited TV series. If so, it would be as groundbreaking, if not more so, than the book: the first mystery/drama TV series with mostly Indian-American characters set in the USA, that I can think of.
Because of that, the project still remains an up-hill battle. Almost all American TV series with People of Color are comedies, and despite what they claim, very few industry insiders are interested in financing and screening content that's genuinely original and challenging. I'm looking to connect with more people in the TV/film industry, particularly of South Asian descent, who can make this happen: content acquirers, writers, directors, producers, actors, actresses, agents etc. If you know anyone who can help, please send them my way.
It's been 4 years since the publication of The Run and Hide, the second volume of The Brotherhood Chronicle. Despite getting the least acclaim and having won no awards, this remains my personal favorite book, and a darling for Desai diehards.
The Dance Towards Death was published 3 years ago, and it's won 13 literary honors in that time, my most acclaimed book so far.
In about a month, it will be the 10th anniversary of Good Americans, my most provocative book and a subject of divided opinion. Its anthology sequel, Bad Americans, is my longest and most ambitious book to date, a novel and short story collection in one. I'm working hard on it, and the polished manuscript should be ready to send out to agents etc. around January 2024.
I've stayed the course and maintained my literary independence for more than a decade. Let's see if I can do that and still convince a major publisher to bring Bad Americans out into the literary sphere and get it the wide acclamation and readership I believe it deserves.
The New Wei Literary Movement and its associated Salons are gaining traction. I've met many writers, artists, musicians, actors and filmmakers over the last six months and I hope we've inspired them to produce new dynamic projects.
I'm also working to interview provocative artists of many mediums and produce articles on them. Ultimately I plan to write a book on the wider literary/artistic scene, our tumultuous decade and The New Wei.
Then there are my travels: recently to Germany/Austria/Italy, across the USA and soon to Greece and Turkey too. I know a lot of people have been screaming for me to write a non-fiction book about all these crazy adventures, and that might finally happen.
In addition, there's plenty afoot at the library too: our annual Southeast Queens Author Festival at Cambria Heights Library on 9/30 at 1:30pm, dynamic planned panels for ALA in Baltimore and San Diego, a renovated Teen Center, new art installations, and plenty more.
Things have been busy in the best possible way, and I'm grateful for it.

WINNIPEG REPORTBACK (courtesy FF1): “On Saturday June 3rd FF1 and our family from the LGBTQ2S Community, AIM Canada, The Crazy Indian Brotherhood and the Urban Warrior alliance gathered at Winnipeg city hall in response to a planned rally by the WCAI, Canadian Combat Coalition, CAP, NAPC and various other "patriot" organizations as part of the nationwide "Deplorables March." While waiting and enjoying the gorgeous weather and great anti fascist music we were informed that the "patriots" snowflaked and moved their rally to the Manitoba Legislative Building. Where most of us were headed anyways to support the Trans pride march. We collectively decided to move to the Legislature to confront the deplorable rally. When we arrived there where a handful of "patriots" We asked them why the were there and what they were rallying against most stayed silent there were a few outspoken nationalists that began to act belligerent towards our contingent, an altercation ensued and the nationalists learned some very hard lessons. The police arrived a few minutes later and in the fashion of these proud "patriots" then quickly ran to the police for assistance. An officer approached one of our comrades and began making threats of arrest for filming. The officer then brutally arrested our comrade for doing exactly what they should be doing in this type of situation and that is filming the actions of fascist and police. We condemn this act of police violence and will stand in solidarity with our comrade in fighting these charges and making sure the police officer involved is held responsible for his actions. We will continue to confront and reject hateful rhetoric and reactionary ideologies any time and any place to make sure hate in our city will not receive a platform and be devoid of safe spaces. Treaty 1 territory, will remain anti fascist and anti colonial, this is a city built on resistance and will continue to resist in the only way we know how. PEG CITY DON’T PLAY.”

Characters who didn’t appear in Festival of Heroes or get mentioned in their character guide
With the exception of THAT story the anthology was great, but the character guide was severely lacking in characters even though it included a few who weren’t in the book at ALL.
Here’s some of the ones I do know of off the top of my head who didn’t get mentioned, and in several cases it’s rather glaring they weren’t.
I’m gonna keep adding to this in the next few days.
Celsius (Indian) - Arani Desai, the wife of Niles Caulder and founder of the second Doom Patrol. Died during Invasion, was brought back post-Flashpoint and founded her own team in India called The Doomed.
Rose Wilson (Cambodian and/or Hmong) - Daughter of Deathstroke and Lili Worth. She’s been referred to as Cambodian and Hmong, so I’m uncertain if she’s multi-racial or simply one or the other. Was infamously whitewashed in the New 52 when they made her Addie Kane’s daughter.
Linda Park (Korean) - Wife of Wally West and the mother of Jai and Irey, she was a significant casualty of Flashpoint and it wasn’t until ten years later her role was properly restored.
Solstice (Indian) - Kiran Dalal/Singh, atter day Teen Titan who joined the group just before Flashpoint. Heavily ruined by Scott Lobdell and later killed off in Heroes in Crisis, before inexplicably being restored to her old self as part of The Doomed.
Fever (Chinese) - Shyleen Lao, minor Doom Patrol member who was later killed off in Terror Titans
Freak (Indian) - Ava, another minor Doom Patrol member
Quiz (Japanese) - Founding member of the Brotherhood of Dada with a severe phobia of getting dirty
Flash (Chinese) - Avery Ho, recently empowered speedster who acts as the Flash in the Justice League of China
Cascade (Indonesian) - Sujatmi Sunowapatri, water manipulating latter day Global Guardian
Fruit Bat (Japanese) - Chiyo Yamashiro, an elderly but not entirely retired crimefighter operating in Japan since the 1930s
Tsunami (Japanese) - Miya Shimada, member of the Young All-Stars during the 1940s
Tremor (Indian) - Roshanna Chatterji, agent of Amanda Waller before Flashpoint. Was later deaged and allied herself with the Movement.
Katharsis (Laotian) - Kulap Vilaysack, former police officer who initially worked for Charise Carnes before she joined The Movement
Super Young Team (Japanese) - Most Excellent Superbat, Big Atomic Lantern Boy, Shy Crazy Lolita Canary, Shiny Happy Aquazon, and Well-Spoken Sonic Lightning Flash. They were believed to be the next generation of Japan’s superheroes
Bushido (Japanese) - Ryuku Orsono. Minor Teen Titan who was more of an ally than a teammate and was later killed by Superboy-Prime. Has been mentioned his name isn’t actually Japanese.
Tommy Blake Jr. (Vietnamese) - Son of Cheshire and Catman, conceived as Cheshire’s replacement for her daughter Lian
Judomaster (Japanese) - Sonia Sato, who first was an ally of the Birds of Prey before joining the JSA. She infamously could speak and understand English just fine, yet under Geoff Johns’ pen she had apparently forgotten how.
Wonder-Woman (Chinese) - Peng Deilan, centuries old figure also known as Green Snake
Bat-Man (Chinese) - Wang Baixi, selected to be the Bat-Man of China’s Justice League

South Florida ‘ISIS’ Imam: Christianity is the main problem in America; 'Jews Behind All Corruption in the Earth'
By Joe Kaufman
Fadi Kablawi (Qablawi), head imam of the North Miami Islamic Center (NMIC) and FBI ‘person of interest,’ is a radical Muslim’s radical. His targets comprise of Jews, Christians, homosexuals, women, Hindus and Muslims, even his fellow radical Muslims. This past July, he made the claim that Jews are behind all the corruption on Earth. He did so, during one of his Friday khutbas (sermons), in front of his congregation, which includes young and impressionable children. At times, he draws large crowds. Will Kablawi’s dangerous rhetoric drive one or more of his followers to commit acts of violence? Has it already?
Fadi Yousef Kablawi, a.k.a. Abu Ubeidah, was born in Amman, Jordan, in 1978. At the age of 17, he moved to the US with his family. After finishing high school, Kablawi attended Florida International University (FIU) for his undergraduate studies and completed his doctoral degree in dental medicine, at the University of Pennsylvania, in 2005. Working alongside his wife, he had a thriving Miami dentistry, until August 2017, when he was arrested for allegedly using his business to overcharge his patients and commit Medicaid fraud. A video news report depicts a somber Kablawi handcuffed and sporting an orange jumpsuit, standing in front of Bond Court judge, Mindy Glazer, who happens to be Jewish.
Incorporated in September 2010, the North Miami Islamic Center (NMIC), a.k.a. Masjid As Sunnah An Nabawiyyah, is the brainchild of Kablawi. In fact, the mosque’s colorful logo bears the name of Kablawi’s former corporation, al-Tayyib, which is as well the mosque’s website address, altayyib.com. A children’s school, Reviver Academy, shares the identical North Miami location of the mosque. According to Kablawi, he created the school in order to provide a pure and unfiltered form of Islam for the kids. Photos and video footage from the school show the children using the same area of the mosque where Kablawi emits his hate speech.
Kablawi is an equal opportunity offender, attacking all faiths, including his own, though Jews are by far his primary target. Last month, he told his congregants, “[A Muslim] doesn’t associate his behavior with an iman (faith). The Jews are different. They will use the iman, which is ‘We’re Jews,’ to justify every heinous thing they do.” Also last month, he stated, “You will find the most enemies to the believers are the Jews.” This past July, Kablawi told his congregation the following about Jews: “Look at the façade and the corruption in the Earth, today. You’ll find them behind it, in everything.”
Kablawi is not happy that some of his fellow Muslims are making peace with Israel. On September 15th, at the White House, historic peace agreements were signed between Israel, Bahrain and the UAE. On October 2nd, Kablawi told his audience, “Anything you sign as peace is nothing but selling out, is nothing but cowardice, is nothing but humiliation, is nothing but debasement.” On September 20th, he stated, “If anybody who brings this issue up… tell them brotherhood is stronger than cousinhood. When they abuse and kill our brothers… the Muslims in Palestine are brothers not cousins, and when my cousin kills my brother I will kill my cousin.”
Kablawi is also not friendly towards Muslims who side with Hindus wishing to resettle in the Indian state of Kashmir, following years of terror and dispossession at the hands of Islamists. In August 2019, he tweeted his own mini fatwa (religious ruling), stating, “Whoever allies himself, celebrates and honors the Hindus for what they have done to Muslims in Kashmir is an apostate, out of the fold of the religion of Muhammad…”
Kablawi likes vilifying Christians, too. Last month, he told his congregants, “[T]he Christians don’t think. They just follow whatever.” He said that Christians have a “hallucinating imagination.” He called Christianity “fake.” In January 2019, he told his congregation, “The Christian religion makes no sense… If you look at all the religions in the world, Christianity can compete for first place in stupidity.” This past July he stated, “Someone might ask, ‘Why are there a lot of Christians?’ There are lots of Christians, because their fitra (state of purity/innocence) got corrupted.”
Kablawi also hates gays with a passion. Last month, he railed against gay rights. He stated to his audience, “20 years or 30 years ago, talking to someone about the rights of homosexuals – crazy! God knows what there will be tomorrow… Maybe the straight ones will be the gay ones. We will be looked at as abnormal.” He referred to gays as “Sodomites.” In March 2019, Kablawi bizarrely attacked gays and Christians together, tweeting, “After long research, I think I finally discovered the virus responsible for LGBTQ disease… It is called the Church virus; most dangerous mutation of such virus is the Catholic one.” Kablawi has even attacked Islamist favorite Congresswoman Ilhan Omar and a leader from CAIR for cavorting with LGBT.
And when it comes to jihad, for Kablawi, there is only one primary meaning, and that is holy war. In July, he said, “[J]ihad is when you put your life on the line. Not the cute jihad, as they call everything ‘jihad’ today. A brother sent me a message, ‘This is the Real Jihad’… about coronavirus. This kid somewhere in Falastin. They stopped him from seeing his mother, at the hospital, who was infected with the virus. He would climb, every night, the walls of the hospital and sit next to the room of his mother… May Allah reward him for being righteous and dutiful to his mother. But that’s not the real jihad. Real jihad is not climbing walls. Real jihad is climbing over people’s necks and heads and skulls.”
This past July, hundreds of mosque goers packed Kablawi’s NMIC, as Kablawi stood in front leading prayers. No doubt, his type of no frills Islamic fundamentalism has attracted a significant segment of the Muslim community. One must therefore question how much of Kablawi’s extreme and bigoted rhetoric has his congregants taken to heart, and are they willing to act on it, meaning violently? One of his followers, Salman Rashid, this past December, was charged with soliciting ISIS to murder the deans of two South Florida colleges. And according to Kablawi, he himself is considered by the FBI to be a member of ISIS.
Fadi Kablawi is a danger and threat to society. The message that he sends to his congregation and all who watch and share his videos is one of hatred and violence. Kablawi believes that he is teaching the Islamic religion in the proper manner – one that is unfiltered and unapologetic – and that may very well be so. However, what Kablawi is doing, as well, is inspiring his followers and congregants, including very young and impressionable children, to retain this hatred and to potentially carry out the same type of jihad that Kablawi lauds and embraces.

Brotherhood of the Wolf (2001)
I like to think of Brotherhood of the Wolf as one of those Batman action figures I used to get as a kid. Take away the crazy-colored shield that doubles up as a magnifying glass, the rocket boots, and unnecessary gimmick and you've got a much better, simpler, leaner product. Le pacte des loups a.k.a. Brotherhood of the Wolf features an intriguing mystery. There are elements of horror, the period-piece setting is lavish, the characters draw you in. Then, out of nowhere, a bunch of action scenes are thrown in and the plot goes completely loopy. It remains entertaining but makes you wonder what they were thinking.
In 1766 France, in the province of Gévaudan, the locals are being terrorized by an animal unlike anything they’ve ever seen. King Louis XV sends Grégoire de Fronsac (Samuel Le Bihan) and his brother in arms Mani (Mark Dacascos), a Mohawk Indian, to investigate. Their search leads Grégoire to believes the beast is somewhere between an animal and the monster the people believe in.
There’s a lot of good stuff going on here. The mystery for instance. Is this creature a legitimate monster, a wild animal, something else? Your hypothesis will change with each clue. While Mani and Grégoire aren't examining the torn bodies and footprints, a lot is happening. Politics and twisting allegiances make you wonder. Different people are using these horrifying events to their advantage, which in turn forces all of these other pieces to muddle up the mystery. Grégoire and Mani are stepping in the middle of it and disrupting this complex machine. There are many subplots including the brotherhood between Grégoire and Mani, the love plot between our hero and the attractive Marianne (Émilie Dequenne), and the rivalry between the different hunters sent to track down the beast.
When you think you've got this movie figured out... it brings in elements of horror. The gore, the slow reveals of the beast, it's well done. The period piece setting adds a lot of suspense and intrigue. People acted differently in the 18th century. Seeing some of the outdated beliefs clash with some of the more contemporary values of the investigation keeps you wondering. There’s a natural spookiness to stories dominated by superstitions. The isolation of the province adds atmosphere.
There's enough good here to recommend the film but a lot of flaws pop out during the last quarter. It’s as if the director wanted to make a cool martial arts action movie, and a period piece horror thriller at the same time. When you mix two opposites, you don't always get Reese's Peanut Butter Cups. Scenes where dozens of mooks fight with kung-fu moves, whip-like swords, razor hand fans, and “final boss” battles don’t belong anywhere near this film, but they’re included... for some reason! At 152 minutes, this picture turns into a bit of a mess at the end without sinking completely.
I like Brotherhood of the Wolf. The special effects are pretty good. Each clue compels you to inch closer. The characters are interesting. It approaches the “countryside monster” story creatively. I just wish we could've skipped the martial arts. The stunts and choreography are fun but they belong in a different realm altogether. (Original French version on DVD, March 4, 2015)

@thecorteztwins
Based on your idea about Pyro being unable to lift Haven. It was supposed to be funny, but this is Legacy Virus Pyro, so it got a little angsty.
It was, according to Dominic, a quick-and-easy, in-and-out job. Some fabulously wealthy Indian bird was holed up in one of New York’s luxury hotels, and they were going to ransom her for her family’s considerable wealth. And if the job went south, they’d just snatch up whatever cash and valuables she had in her room – he’d seen her in the papers, her earrings alone were probably worth thousands – and run off. Quick-and-easy was about all St. John could handle these days, but he had still angrily shrugged off Dominic’s “You sure you’re up to this?” because fuck, he wasn’t an invalid yet, was he? So he had lied, grinning with gritted teeth, and claimed that he was just dandy, that today was one of the “good” days.
Of course, there had been complications. Complications in the form of a hulking, muscular brute that claimed to be the rich chick’s brother. And he had powers. At least there were no bloody X-Men in sight. Yet.
“Go up the stairs, Johnny, I’ll handle this,” Avalanche ordered, as they both picked themselves up off the hotel lobby floor. The big guy had knocked them off their feet with a gust of wind, and now a storm was lashing the plate glass windows with rain and hail. It had been a clear sunny day just moments ago.
“You okay on your own?” St. John didn’t want to leave Dominic fighting solo with a guy who appeared to be a male Storm, and he really didn’t want to be ushered away from the “rough stuff,” like some kind of delicate child that needed protection. He tried to ignore the burning in his lungs.
“I got it, man, just finish the job!” Dominic shoved him towards the stairs while sending a seismic wave rippling across the lobby floor, knocking the big guy off his feet.
“Right.” Pyro sprinted up the stairs, letting adrenaline do the work, hoping he could make it to the luxury penthouse suite before he had a chance to feel how very tired he was. He needed to get this done, because it was for Dominic. Or rather, it was for Dominic’s ex-wife, who apparently needed a pot of money for heart surgery. St. John wasn’t entirely sure why Dominic was so hell-bent on helping a woman who had broken his heart, but if it was so important, St. John would have his back. Dominic had stuck his neck out trying to help him find a cure in the Savage Land, and St. John wasn’t going to die owing anyone favors.
There were guards at the door, of course, but a quick blast of flame made them drop their super-heated guns, and then a red bull made of fire chased them down the hall. There had been a red bull in some book he’d read years ago, but damned if he could remember the title now. He grinned as the guards bolted through the emergency exit. He still “had it,” even if using his powers now sent sharp, stabbing pains though his head. The lock on the door quickly melted, and he kicked it open.
The woman did not look surprised. Perhaps her brother had already informed her of the danger. She sat upright on a chaise lounge, with her flowing robes and impossibly long hair pooled around her, hands folded in her lap.
“Did you kill the guards? I hope you didn’t. They are good men, with families.”
“Nah, they…..ran like rabbits….guess you….guess you didn’t pay them enough…..” The run upstairs was catching up with him now, and he couldn’t help gasping for breath.
“I don’t want them to die for me,” said the woman. She hadn’t moved from her position on the couch, one of several scattered around the lavish suite. It was bigger than most apartments St. John had seen, and filled with fine furniture, and what appeared to be Indian artwork, similar to what he’d seen a lifetime ago as a travel writer. Radha Dastoor, the woman who called herself “Haven,” was supposedly some kind of charitable humanitarian, but of course she surrounded herself with luxury, like every other rich fuck Pyro had ever known. Certainly none of them were willing to wear the sackcloth and ashes, in his experience.
“Well, that’s good then. No one needs to die, love. We’ll make this nice and easy, and you won’t even get a scratch on that pretty face of yours.” She was stunningly beautiful, although there was something odd about her eyes, almost unnaturally calm.
“Is this about my message? Or do you simply want money?”
“The latter.” Perhaps in the Brotherhood days it would have been about her message – she was spreading some kind of New Age bullshit about humans and mutants living in harmony. Magneto probably would have wanted her eliminated – or maybe not. He could never keep track of the “Great Leader’s” ideology, and these days it was much harder to keep things straight in his head.
He grinned at her, and sent a jet of fire sweeping around the room. It hovered around the walls, but didn’t actually touch or burn anything. It would be a shame to destroy this swanky stuff, and this was just an intimidation tactic to get her up and out of the room faster. To his surprise, she remained seated, staring at him without a hint of fear.
“Look, darling, we’re not interested in hurting you, okay? It’s very simple. You’ve got money, and we need some. With the fortune you’ve got, you won’t even miss it. Now you just come with me, your lawyers will fork over some cash, and you can enjoy the rest of your day.”
“I’m afraid I can’t do that. I’ve got a speech to give this evening. And I’m not going to let myself be kidnapped. It won’t end well for any of us. Please put the fire out. People will get hurt if it spreads.”
“You seem to be confused, love. You don’t get a choice in this.” Pyro strode across the room, somewhere between amused and annoyed. These rich types always thought the universe would somehow bend to their will, even if there was someone literally pointing a weapon at their faces. He grabbed her wrist and attempted to pull her to her feet. She yanked her hand back, stronger than he expected.
“C’mon now, don’t struggle. That’s how people get hurt. I’m tryin’ to be gentle about this.” Haven was looking up at him, eyebrows pursed together in what appeared to be concern.
“You’re very thin,” she said.
“Yeah, no shit, love. I’ve always been a beanpole.” He gritted his teeth, blinking away sweat that dripped down into his eyes. The flame wall was lopsided and ragged at the edges, nowhere near his usual precision, and he wasn’t sure how long he could maintain it with the pounding in his head. He leaned in, and she shrank away, probably getting entirely the wrong idea as he wrapped his arms around her, taking care not to put his hands anywhere inappropriate. Pyro was known as a terrorist, thief, murderer and all-around criminal, but he wasn’t known as a rapist, and he didn’t want that on his reputation. He tried to lift her from the couch, while she pushed against him and kicked.
“C’mon, don’t….” He gasped, his breath starting to catch in his throat as burning pain shot through his chest. “Don’t make this…..I won’t hurt you, just…..just give me a bloody break, love!” Why was she so unnaturally heavy? And so freakishly tall? Or had his arms really gotten that weak? His grip slipped as she shoved him backwards, and he staggered, unable to stop the coughing fit that tore out of him. He dropped to his knees, shoulders shaking. For fucks sake, could he not hold it together long enough to pull off one easy job for Dominic?
Suddenly, he felt a strong pair of arms wrap around his chest from behind. Before he could struggle, he was being lifted up onto the couch, leaning back against the cushion as he wheezed. The flame wall, which had mostly been maintained by his own concentration, had largely evaporated, and he waved a hand to extinguish the remnants that had fallen to the floor. This didn’t need to get any more out of control than it already was.
“You are extremely ill.” Haven was now hovering over him, putting her hands on his cheeks and turning his head to peer into his eyes. The mask hid the worst of the lesions, but he couldn’t really hide how sharp his cheekbones had become, jutting out of a gaunt face. “You should be in a hospital. I will arrange for –“
“No, no hospital!” Pyro snarled, although it came out as more of a croak. Once he went into a hospital, he was never coming out. They’d jam him full of tubes and keep him breathing long after he devolved into an incoherent, drooling, shitting sack of flesh. And that was the best case scenario – if they recognized him and called the authorities, he’d breathe his last strapped down in a SHIELD holding cell. He was going to die anyway, at least at his apartment he had booze and porn and some god-damned privacy. And he had everything he needed to end things on his own terms, when it came to that.
“They can’t help me,” he continued. “It’s…..” He couldn’t quite bring himself to say the word “terminal,” even though it hung in his mind like a black flag. “There’s no cure.”
“I’m sorry,” said Haven, and the look of compassion on her face seemed to indicate that she actually meant it. Usually people didn’t. “I’m sorry” was usually such bullshit, better translated to, “Better you than me, mate.”
“Perhaps I could…..” Haven stopped and trailed off, her head cocked to one side, as if listening to something Pyro could not hear. “No? No, it seems it is not the right time. I’m sorry. I don’t always understand the workings of the divine, but I most obey.” She reached out and clutched his hand in hers.
Pyro shrugged as his breathing gradually came back under control, although it was still a painful wheeze. Today had really not been one of the “good” days. And obviously this woman was crazy. A lot of rich types were, especially if they got religion. But at least she appeared to be genuinely nice. He felt oddly comforted sitting on the couch, holding her hand, even though either the police or some do-gooder X-Team was probably on their way.
“Are you for real? Most people aren’t this nice during a robbery.”
“I try to see the world with compassion. I want to ease suffering, and you are suffering. Is that why you need money? For treatment?”
“Not treatment for me. There’s no treatment for me. A friend needs help. He’s down there with your brother, probably getting’ his bell rung.”
“Monsoon can be very….overenthusiastic, but he only wants to protect me. I will contact him, and perhaps we can work this out peacefully.”
Dominic, with his face pressed against the shattered rubble of the hotel lobby, and a 200 lb man sitting on his back, reflected that this job had been a complete shit-show. All the rich socialite “humanitarians” in New York city, and he had tried to rob and kidnap the woman with a mutant for a brother. Above him, Monsoon shifted his weight, and Avalanche winced at the pressure on his ribs. Maybe it was closer to 300 lbs? Worse, he had dragged Johnny out into this, and the man was in no condition to be running around, no matter how many times he said he was “fine.” He seemed to be running on pure, stubborn pride these days.
“Look, fella, my partner is up there with your sister, so unless you want him to torch her, you’d better let me up,” he tried. He could, of course, shake the entire building off its foundations. And that would kill everyone inside, including him, Johnny, and the spoiled rich bitch they were here to rob. Monsoon stared down at him, contemptuous and silent. Then his phone chirped.
“Yes? Are you okay? Understood.” He snapped the phone closed, and hauled Avalanche up to his feet, with one arm twisted around his back.
“It’s over,” Monsoon said simply. “She wants to talk to you.” And he began to drag Avalanche over to the elevator.
“Wait, what’s over? What happened? Is Pyro….” He trailed off. Haven had a team of bodyguards with her, and they had probably been posted at her room. Bodyguards with guns, and Johnny was off his game these days. Dominic would never be able to forgive himself if he’d gotten his best friend killed, even if it was the kind of death he might prefer over slowly wasting away. Monsoon was frustratingly silent as the elevator took them up.
“Look, this is on me, okay? This was my job, I pushed him into it. You can have me, but let Pyro go, okay?” The only thing worse than Johnny getting gunned down while doing him a favor would be Johnny dying in jail. Dominic was ready to do anything to keep that from happening. But he was met with only silence while being dragged down the hallway towards the room. There were scorch marks on the carpet, but no blood, which made him sigh with relief. He wasn’t entirely sure what he expected to see when he was pushed through the doorway into Radha Dastoor’s suite, but he still stopped short in surprise.
Pyro was sitting on the sofa next to the woman who called herself Haven, both looking up as Avalanche came through the door. Pyro had a blanket draped around his shoulders, and was clutching a steaming mug of something that smelled like spice. He looked vaguely guilty behind his mask, while her face was a perfect picture of calm.
“What….what the hell, man?” Avalanche spluttered.
“I’m sorry, Dom,” Pyro shrugged, using one hand to gesture helplessly at Haven. “She’s just…too nice. I can’t do it, mate. She’s too nice.”
“Too nice? Are you kidding me?!” Monsoon let a heavy hand fall upon his shoulders, forcing Dominic to his knees while Haven glided over to him. And as she knelt and began to coo over the bruises that her brother had left on his face, he realized exactly what Pyro meant.
Notes: Haven is probably going to write a check for Dominic’s wife’s treatment, and then let them go. I realized I needed a reason why Haven wouldn’t attempt to heal Pyro like she tried with Jamie, so I’m thinking the Adversary told her “No,” because it didn’t want her to fail (and possibly destroy the faith she had in her cause).

File 0123994: Keith Kogane
Born: 23 October 1999. “The Farm.” Ha, Kurung Kumey, Arunachal Pradesh, India.
Heritage: Korean, Indian.
Species: Human, Sage.
Affiliation: Abstergo, Assassins, Indian Brotherhood, Blade of Marmora. Weapon: Assasin gauntlet, (Hidden blade, rope launcher and poison darts) “white fang” a Sickle sword, “Deliverer” a silenced 10 mm gun.
Son of Master Assasin Kroila and Korean Templar ... I can’t see to find a name in the reports, but the idea is clear. I mean, The fruit of forbidden love? that must be rough.
His father disappeared when Keith was just a baby and his mother was killed in action, so he was raised by Thace, a family friend. He and his partner Ulaz lived and took care of Keith in the Farm, the little town completely habituated by assassins and their families. Apparently, they trained him since a young age in the Assassin’s ways and taught him everything about their history and creed, you know, like Christians do with their kids.
According to Thace and thanks to an interview I had with him, Keith was a pretty talented kid and assassin, his training was going wonderfully and he got big expectations in him but he never got to finish it since when he turned 6 years old, his father came back and not in a way Keith would have wanted. His father, alongside a group of Abstergo’s army, broke into the Farm and killed everyone on sight, taking every child they could back to their base.
Keith not only watched his friends and family died in front of his eyes, but he also was one of the kids who got captured and never got to live a normal life again. (Well as normal as an Assassin life could get - N.R) When they discovered that Keith was a sage, he spent more than a decade plug into the Animus so they could study his lineage. (Please check file 0421477 for more information about sages- N.R)
He was sixteen when he managed to escape with the help of an inside agent and an old face, Ulaz. But he didn’t have anywhere to go, the Brotherhood was gone, Thace and Ulaz couldn’t take him, he was in a foreign country... the list just goes and goes. Ulaz provides him with a small apartment of his property and he lived there a few months, trying to cope with the Bleeding effect and the loss of his people.
(Can a person really cope with the Bleeding effect? I heard that people became crazy because of it - N.R) Unable to live like nothing had happened, like his childhood didn’t revolve around a thousand of years war, he joined the Blades of Marmora a few months later for a recommendation of Ulaz and after completing the Trials he starts going into missions and climbing the rankings like no one has seen before. (Quick explanation, the Blades of Marmora are another group of Assassins who decided that the old ways had died and they needed to take a new approach, be more organize and be a close organization. - N.R)
At the age of nineteen, he already was a colonel and commanded his own battalion. He got clearance for a secret mission: infiltrate abstergo and free all subjects of the Animus. He performed it beautifully and even rescue several of his brothers, including master assassin Takashi Shirogane.
Takashi being something like a brother to Keith, convinced him to abandon the Blades and help him rebuilt the brotherhood. He was skeptical of it but one day on his slept he had a vision of Juno and knew that the destiny of the world depends on the assassin brotherhood being reformed.

So I finally saw Crazy Rich Asians on the plane to Hong Kong/Phuket. It was a stock Cinderella story mixed with wealth porn but girl was it addictive. I immediately wanted to watch it again after I finished it, and I HATE romantic comedies! Critics have hailed its all Asian cast, and they are very good (underrepresented in terms of the amount of AA talent in the States though) and of course asia's wealth is ripe for exploitation, and how else could a movie or book filled with minorities be successful unless it's a comedy with typical multicultural themes? I know The Brotherhood Chronicle is fighting an uphill battle in that sense: I mean it might as well be called Crazy Criminal Asians! And anyway, just take a look at the pic I posted here: these are kinds of Asians I hang out with! #bookstagram #books #book #movie #movies #crazyrichasians #crazy #crime #crimefiction #mysteries #thrillers #asiangirls #asianamerican #asianamericangirl #asianamericans #asiangirl #asiangirlsrock #indian #indianamerican #indianamericans #travel #travelblogger #travelphotography #travelphotographer #travelphotos #travelphotoblog #travelling #traveller #travellife #travellovers #travellolife #thailand #thailandtravel #thailandtrip #thailandtrip2018 #brotherhoodchronicle #runandhide #therunandhide https://www.instagram.com/p/Bsig8tpH9sI/?utm_source=ig_tumblr_share&igshid=pa53k8tudjqe
