Needle Felting: Practice & WIP

First Image: Green spider practice. The main body and head were fun to make, the shapes are fairly simple, although not identical to a real spider, that's fine though! Due to the eyes being small I thought they would have been difficult to felt on but actually they turned out to be easy. However, the legs turned out to be very fiddly, they were hard to get into a curved shape. Later, I found out from reseaching that needle felters tend to use pipe cleaners to help with shaping their models. I'll be trying this in the future! Overall, I'm happy with my funny lil spider guy, he'll be hanging around the house on Halloween :)

Second Image: RumpleSloth Attempt WIP. Sitting down RumpleSloth has been fun to make so far. His body and limbs were much easier to make than the legs of the green spider. I'm guessing this is because they are much thicker than the thin wool pieces I used for the legs of the spider. I didn't use any pipe cleaners either for the shape of RumpleSloth. I've managed to work out the basic technique of shaping something: as long as it's basic at this stage. The next step is to felt on his face and claws, lets see how I get on with that, will it be just as easy as the green spiders eyes?
