#both of them have similar rather extreme reactions to Mahidevran and Hürrem really or supposedly “crossing a line”#in terms of Hafsa because Hürrem merely expressed disobedience#opposing Hafsa's decision to marry her thus in her eyes disrupting the order more and more#and in terms of Süleiman because while Mahi made a real transgression#him discarding her outright in this final way is kind of hilarious both given the poison attempt coming next#and the far more serious stuff he'll later give a pass to for the people he considers “loyal”#Mahi not adhering to an ideal is what set off SS most of all#it's just a matter of people having to stick to the lines drawn for them#and this along with the biases that are already there *before* they're confirmed by certain situations and color *both* SS and Hafsa's#judgments brings along harsh severe consequences#(also both Süleiman and Hafsa wear pretty much the same colors in the respective scenes!)#and something about both Hü and Mahi being saved from their literal and symbolic exiles thanks to having their children#(Mahidevran shouldn't be seperated from her child while Hürrem shouldn't be married while carrying SS's future child)#and both events having pregnancy as an undercurrent too#Mahidevran and Hürrem's part of the show's past vs. future motif#oh well#magnificent century#muhteşem yüzyıl#muhtesem yuzyil#sultan suleiman#ayse hafsa sultan#mahidevran sultan#hurrem sultan

@green-great-dragon I understand the sympathy for people who have to go through the heartbreak of infertility. It’s a cross I may have to bear too, so understand I’m not trying to be callous when I say that the desire to have a child cannot trump that child’s right to be conceived naturally. God designed human sexuality, and going against His plan is not a “gift.”
#That’s not even touching the other problems.#How many of her sisters and brothers were killed in the process?#Are they /sure/ it was their sperm and egg? because there’s an infamous lack of oversight.#And the very real fact that they /paid/ for her conception. That’s not defensible and CERTAINLY not part of God’s plan.#(Now God is good and cannot be thwarted by our disobedience)#(but there are very real natural and eternal consequences to disobeying His will)

People up here hype about their hustle and telling others about you can be your best the harder you work. Sorry honey bear, but that's not how God wanted us to live. Because of Adam's being tempted and sinful action of disobedience and listening to Satan instead of God, we are still facing his sin's consequence of working until we drop just so we can eat and have shelter. We were supposed to just live happily with no grind needed as everything we ever need would have been right there for us.
I might get hate for this post. Oh well. Jesus already warned Christians about persecution for following Him. So, I'm cool with it.
#Read Genesis 2: 1-25#Read Genesis 3: 1-24#we were never meant to work or “hustle”#Adam's temptation and disobedience caused this#instead of being proud of how much you work be humble and realize ALL OF THIS WE'RE LIVING IN NOW was not supposed to be#this is called sinful consequence#Christians#God#Jesus#Holy Spirit

I think about that last part a lot. Does Illario know? Because this is what he says in The Wigmaker Job with regards to the possibility of Lucanis failing the contract:
Does Illario not know that Lucanis has forfeited contracts before? Is it just that this is a bigger (higher paying) contract than the ones Lucanis mentions to Davrin? Or does it just not cross Illario's mind here because he's worried in the way he would be if it was his contract? For all his messing around in this story, Illario is the one who's more focused on the job and the job alone. Illario knows very well that he can't afford to fail a contract. Does he know Lucanis can?
I honestly don't think lucanis would have gotten much gentler training than most of the other crows -- if anything I expect he got more direct and intensely focused/constant attention on and control exerted over him than most of them might, since caterina has so much bound up in him both emotionally, politically and (ultimately, as the case always is with the crows lol) financially. she does not seem the type to as it were risk spoiling the sole viable heir by sparing the rod (derogatory). she has too much on the line here leave stuff like that to chance. where the 'first talon's favourite kid' privileges DO likely enter into it for me is that he can every so often make the move to spare a target based in nothing but his own conscience and not be killed for it himself.
which also has me wondering like... did caterina know she was sending him to kill a child, with that one target he mentions to davrin? or was it a surprise to her too? from what he says, she is the one who picks the contracts for him. was that contract how she realized there are things she could ask him to do, uses she could try to put him to, that would just break him (which would be such a waste at this point she's invested so many years and so much of herself in this knife that rests perfectly in her hand)? was it a test?? did it turn into a test both ways??? did lucanis know she wouldn't have him killed for refusing to do it, or is that one of the few times he came back and looked her in the eye to see what she would do, as the closest he's ever gotten to actually telling her 'no'???? 'you have every right to kill me for it, but this is one thing I can't do for you' with his hands not dripping with blood... and for whatever reason or set of reasons you might choose to believe, she doesn't kill him. what an absolutely nuts relationship this is
(how does illario feel watching that go down. knowing lucanis can gamble on love or sunk cost logic or whatever it is that stays her hand to hold on to having a soul, while illario could surrender his whole soul unquestioningly every time to her and still not have the love.)
#I doubt Illario has ever tried. Between his focus on finishing the job and this line and a couple other lines it seems like#Illario is not one to push rules in that way. He'll mess around during the job and spend his free time on debauchery and fun but#He never gets close to that line of disobedience that Lucanis does.#Lucanis will always follow his heart and deal with the consequences later. Illario doesn't. (Can't?)#Is it because Illario is more afraid of the consequences? Or because he knows his consequences would be worse?#Lucanis is probably pretty sure Caterina won't kill him. (And he'd probably rather have died than kill a child since he's so passively suic#But Illario? I doubt he has that same confidence. He's the spare. He's expendable. He knows that.#And if that contract WAS a test do you think Illario got a similar contract?#Because I don't think Illario would dare come home with a contract not fulfilled.#And for all Illario is portrayed as (and portrays himself as) a selfish man with no morals there's no way this kind of thing would have#no affect on him growing up#He's the way he is BECAUSE he was never allowed to develop empathy for others not the other way around#He feels empathy. He just only feels it for his family. He's not incapable of it. He's just... turned it off for everyone else.#Because unlike Lucanis he didn't have a choice.#(I'm not saying Caterina would actually have killed him for it. I don't think she would. I'm just saying Illario 100% believed she would.)

God's Sovereigntry
Joshua 14:10-15. And now, behold, the LORD hath kept me alive, as He said, these forty and five years, even since the LORD spake this word unto Moses, while the children of Israel wandered in the wilderness: and now, lo, I am this day fourscore and five years old. As yet I am as strong this day as I was in the day that Moses sent me: as my strength was then, even so is my strength now, for…

pokemon: i choose you is a movie that exists and honestly sorta sucks but i can't help but have a huge soft spot for it because it was the first pokemon movie i got to see in a theater and with my best friend <3
#talking pikachu is fun to me. i liked that scene in the movie#but also i still think about the baffling decision to have ash insult charmeleon after he loses to the rival character#and then. not have the charizard disobedience arc happen there. like wtf that scene already felt super forced and meanspirited#cant you at least have consequences in the form of ash having to earn charmeleons trust back?#they changed it so the rival abused and abandoned charmander too they have him KICK charmander so like its even worse here#for ash to agree for a second with that rival that charmeleon is weak and he shouldve picked a better pokemon#but nah theres no consequences besides ash being sent to hell (real life) in his dreams i guess#charmeleon then evolves and becomes a better pokemon for ash after all or something. ok.#echoed voice

once again suggesting we all stop paying federal income tax to protest... you know. *gestures at all of the USA*
#my diary#idk I'm not smart or networked enough to run this kind of movement myself#but there's plenty of historical precedence to not paying taxes as an act of civil disobedience#it would have a genuine impact#it's not too hard to do (you just fill out a form to adjust your withholding)#so people who couldn't otherwise physically go to a protest would be able to participate#and it's (in theory) nonviolent#(I assume any instance of the feds not getting what they want all the time like spoiled toddlers will have violent consequences)#idk I don't think it'd fix everything I'm just surprised it's an avenue I haven't really heard people explore yet

Sin Has a Long Shelf-life
14 In the morning David wrote a letter to Joab and sent it by the hand of Uriah. 15 In the letter he wrote, “Set Uriah in the forefront of the hardest fighting, and then draw back from him, that he may be struck down, and die.” 16 And as Joab was besieging the city, he assigned Uriah to the place where he knew there were valiant men. 17 And the men of the city came out and fought with Joab, and…

W9D5: Finish stronger! A long week, with the ramp in the middle to make it happen.
We started the week strong. At the midpoint, we asked could “Humpday be a ramp that launches us up, up, and away?” So to close out the week, it feels important to finish it stronger. It is going to take some of that revival energy from Wednesday for the power of God to allow me to finish stronger. It’s going to take some Holy Spirit wisdom to help me walk through this day and finish the week…

as much as I bitch about how toxic this side of my family is, I do have to say that almost every single one of them has my back right now in a way the other side of my family absolutely doesn’t.
#mercy.txt#they’re imperfect but in the end I think they have better priorities than the Jewish side#they’re proud of me for my civil disobedience#whereas the other side is proud of me in theory but always has a reason why I shouldn’t actually protest on a larger scale#like they love the idea of having a politically conscious young person to show off. but they don’t like the consequences of that!#they’re fine with me arguing with them or talking to the principal or causing small problems#but the instant I join up with other people to do something big they disapprove#they care too much about how other Zionists feel. they don’t get that the point of protests is to make them uncomfortable.#the non Jewish side cares way less about how smart I supposedly am or the exact way I articulate my thoughts#they’re proud of me for doing something hopefully impactful & in the end their pride does feel more genuine#even though they know less about what I’m protesting for#also I feel like I should mention that this whole thing was my mom’s idea! she supported it right from the beginning.

A Time of Woe (Isaiah 5:15-24)
Actions and inactions both have consequences. Acting selfishly through wanton accumulation is an equal inaction against the community.
The Prophet Isaiah, by Raphael, 1512 So people will be brought low and everyone humbled, the eyes of the arrogant humbled. But the Lord Almighty will be exalted by his justice, and the holy God will be proved holy by his righteous acts. Then sheep will graze as in their own pasture; lambs will feed among the ruins of the rich. Woe to those who draw sin along with cords of…

Why a small spiritual victory can be really big
the day God won the argument
Spiritual victories can be major. A couple of days ago, I mentioned sharing what I consider a major spiritual victory in my life. For some of you, it may seem trivial. For me, it was huge. It was the day God won the argument. This is one of my favorite chapters of scripture. A little background. There was a time when I entertained a lot. I enjoyed it. We opened our home for all kinds of…
