This is incredible. It's a 4 story townhouse in a 1914 Neo-Gothic church conversion in Toronto, Canada. 3bds, 3ba, $1.895m.
Tumblr media
This particular unit has the main entrance in a small side courtyard.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Enter this small area that the current owners have set up with a table and chairs.
Tumblr media
To the left is a sitting area.
Tumblr media
Coming up from the garage into the sitting area.
Tumblr media
Note the original brick architectural features.
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
Straight ahead, there's the sleek, modern kitchen that has a counter with seating, but room for a table and chairs.
Tumblr media
Look at these details- stone columns, gothic brick arches, and an illuminated custom catwalk.
Tumblr media
View from the catwalk.
Tumblr media
The workout room includes a shower in the corner.
Tumblr media
Gothic arches, wooden trusses and cathedral ceilings.
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
The primary bedroom has built-in floating nightstands. The way they worked in the brick and wood details is gorgeous.
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
For an old church, everything is light, bright, and cheery. Look at the lovely ensuite.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Isn't this cute? They put a home office on the catwalk.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Large windows let in lots of natural light.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Very nice shower room.
Tumblr media
This is the entrance from the garage.
Tumblr media
It looks like you could fit 2 cars in here in tandem.

When Amber and Wilson get together and she makes him choose a mattress, she tells him it's because she wants him to be himself and not only to please her. And then, when House and Wilson move into the condo, House encourages (bullies) him into putting effort in the furnishing of their home, to take up space and find things that bring him joy (maybe because he wants Wilson to enjoy the place as much as he is enjoying it) and the only thing Wilson actually chooses is an organ (?) something he knows House will enjoy/play continously, the thing Wilson brought to their home was House's music.

listen I know it’s controversial but RTD was so correct when he decided that the doctor is the type of girl to have one sleepover with her best friend and then never leave her house again

i keep thinking back to a quote by some architect who was arguing that the most sustainable architecture is the architecture that doesnt get torn down bc we will be (hopefully) constantly finding newer, cheaper, more efficient, ways of being "sustainable" so trying to make the most sustainable building is a moot point. in 5 years it will be outdated & if all it has going for it is "was once a very sustainable building but isnt anymore" well. that isnt much. the point was that the architect was saying that classical/romantic architecture (often considered very beautiful & worth saving which i could get into but that a whole other thing) is sustainable bc of its beauty. bc of the value we put on it. bc we dont want to erase or tear down things we find beautiful or important. i dont really have an end thought but im just musing on the importance of beauty & how aesthetic value can extend itself into material value & also how beauty (infinite) is hoarded by the rich as if it is a finite source. inch resting

Beautifully done condo in an 1861 church in Pittsburgh, PA has 2bs, 3ba, 2,500 sq ft. $1.495m + $440mo, HOA.
Tumblr media
Entrance door to the unit from the hallway.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
This is nice. Unusual railings.
Tumblr media
Here's a library area with a built-in fish tank. Unique.
Tumblr media
Not sure, but that looks like an original choir loft.
Tumblr media
Very nice with the original ceiling.
Tumblr media
They put the main living area up here. Not loving that pole, though. They should've made a column.
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
Interesting floor plan- very modern kitchen in one corner.
Tumblr media
Dining area in the middle, living room in the opposite corner.
Tumblr media
They left the original ornate architectural elements and chose very plain, modern cabinetry.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Check out this bath.
Tumblr media
Smaller bedroom #2 has a cute window.
Tumblr media
Plus, a very nice ensuite.
Tumblr media
More stairs to another level. This must be a bonus space.
Tumblr media
Lovely office with built-ins and a round window.
Tumblr media
Then up another level.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Another bonus room and up another level.
Tumblr media
Wow, this is a nice old tower with the original exposed brick. Then, up another level.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
A sitting room way up here in the uppermost steeple. Why didn't they put one of those compact vacuum elevators in here?
Tumblr media
This is very cool. I think that this unit gets this steeple, judging by the way it keeps going up several floors.
Tumblr media
You can see the round window that's in the home office.
Tumblr media
This unit features a private rooftop deck, also.
Tumblr media
The building is gigantic.

Another Carol and the End of the World background I painted: Eric's townhouse! Actually, now that I'm thinking about it... I don't even think we see the whole exterior in the show itself - kinda hard to believe given how much we see of the interior! In fact, I actually checked and the only glimpse we get of it is one of the patios in episode 8, so consider this a bit of exclusive content I guess, ha ha! For some reason, I was very enamoured with the red doors on this one... something about red doors just feels fancy to me - I can't explain it! Anyways, check out Carol and the End of the World on Netflix if you haven't seen it already! Showrunner: @dan-guterman BG design: Alex Myung Art direction: @ellemichalka
