the ever lovely @lelianasbong tagged me [DAAAAAYS ago] to share my inky's face [using this picrew] and to share three facts about them.
Kendis' mother is Tal-Voshoth while her father is Vashoth. His parents [hypocritically] weren't happy with that. In a sense, it was like why invite that trouble into your/our lives? They had a fellow Vashoth who was "better adapted" in blending in planned for him. But he eloped! Kendis didn't meet her grandparents into her teens. [She did one of her father's sisters though. Not a good exchange.]
Though, she is proudly Vashoth. She does still consider themself a qunari. To an extent. She likes learning about their culture and incorporates parts of it to her day to day -- something that's occurred since her childhood as their mother's past would bleed through time to time. They're a big fan of vitaar and always collects them the way people might collect make up or jewelry or [in Leliana's case ;-P] shoes.
That said, her first company was for the most part human. She actually rejected the Valo-Kas at first. It's about money, you see? Nothing personal. Noble preferred mostly human groups and nobles had the coin. Thankfully the Valo-Kas never took it [too] personally. As Kendis made a name for themself, they sent another offer. Having left her previous group and bored out her mind, she took them up. No regrets [well. for the most parts ... those troublemakers ;-p]

I think ppl in the dragon age fandom should talk to casuals about it from time to time bc I feel like ppl's perceptions of veilguard and perceptions of how well it's doing are both clouded by the echo chamber they surrounded themselves with.
esp if you ever felt bad about liking it. Talk to casuals, a lot of them have enjoyed the game.

Survivor's Guilt/Blood-Stained Hands
CW: Death, Grief, PTSD (Might not be entirely accurate representation, please tell me if it's offensive)
"It's common for soldiers to feel guilty for being lone survivors. Doesn't make the loss of your squad your fault. You tried your best to save them. You have to remember that."
Those were his therapist's words to him in the session they had earlier in the day, Kali could hear them so clearly like she was in the bathroom of his barracks with him. He had just come back from hanging out with some Shadows, laughing with them, as if he had any right to be happy.
He was supposed to grieving. His therapist told him the grief process wasn't linear, that he'd have good days and bad days. But it felt like his days were a mix of bad moments and good moments. He'd feel like he was on top of world one minute and feel like he was six feet underneath the ground the next minute.
And he should be six feet underneath the ground. That was where his late squad was, buried in graves at least a hundred miles away. He was their captain, he should've died with them. Why didn't he die with them?
His hard-plated half-blue, half-black mask was off now, his black neck gaiter pulled down to reveal his entire face that stared back at him from the sink mirror. Despite being in the military for about fifteen years, he had managed not to get too many scars and zero scars on his face. His skin was a golden brown, his eyes a dark brown that more than often sparkled with a happiness he no longer truly felt, and his hair was an ebony black just like the night sky.
His body build was burly, but not nearly as burly as his friend, Stone's. He had more muscles than fat, but he still had more fat than most soldiers. He was leaning more towards athletic than burly. Underneath his clothes, there were few knife scars on his torso with one bullet scar on his shoulder area and another bullet scar on his abdomen. Again, he had been fortunate not to have too many scars.
"You're lucky, Cap. You've managed to remain mostly unscathed over the years. I'm envious."
The memory of one of his late Sergeants, Peter Williams, made Kali's knees buckle and he fell to his knees, his top half bent over the sink enough for his hands to stay in the bowl of the sink. The same hands that felt perpetually stained with the blood of the soldiers—the friends he had failed to save.
His luck of getting out even the most dangerous missions had earned him the callsign "Kali", several soldiers joking that he had only survived because he managed to make a deal with the Hindu goddess, Kali. Back then, he hated the callsign because he felt it was disrespectful to the goddess but now he hated it because it was a reminder of his luck.
It didn't feel like luck. It felt like a curse. He should be dead, he'd have gladly made a deal with the goddess for his soul in exchange of his soldiers making it out of that damned mission alive.
The mission had been a year ago, but Kali felt like he was back there again. His squad had been tasked with raiding a warehouse that held supplies that gave a terrorist cell power and control over the town the terrorist cell had been lording over. It was supposed to be a quick mission, in-and-out. He remembered his Lieutenant, Ivan Kohli-Petrov, telling his husband that he would be calling him the next day after the mission.
Which he unfortunately never got to do. Instead, Kali had been the one to call his Lieutenant's husband and give him the news.
Kali remembered being told by his superiors that the terrorist cell was supposed to be on the other side of town when his squad would be raiding the warehouse. He remembered the feeling of being blindsided when discovering that there was a small group of the terrorist cell who had come back earlier than usual while Kali and his squad were still in the warehouse.
The first to get injured was the other Sergeant, Nathan Greene, and he had been shot in the back. One of the terrorists had snuck upon them.
It had sent the others diving for cover, except for the poor Corpsman, the youngest of them all. The Corpsman had only been a Hospital Corpsman Third Class, his name Siddhartha Patel. He hadn't gone for cover, he had gone to help Nathan and he had been shot in the head, no chance at survival.
Kali and the rest of them had been pushed back further into the warehouse, nearly backed into a corner. They were being pinned down with heavy fire and back-up was too far out.
After that, Kali's memory of the rest of the mission was hazy. His therapist said it was due to the trauma. He remembered bits and pieces; Peter going down with a knife in his stomach, Kali and Ivan managing to fire back at the enemies enough to head to the back exit door of the warehouse. An enemy taking out a grenade and throwing it, Ivan sustaining a bullet wound in his shoulder just as he had pushed Kali out of the door. Kali having to scramble away from the warehouse quickly just before the grenade exploded.
He had no memory of passing out just a few feet away from the warehouse, nor being found by the back-up the Marines had sent. Had no memory of being told his entire squad was gone before passing out again.
It all made it so much worse, the fact that his memory was hazy at the end of it all. It made the flashbacks so much worse, it being so easy for his brain to fit in his parents dying in the same mission, his cousins and their families dying. Sometimes even Stone was in the flashback, dying so brutally. And each time, Kali couldn't save any of them.
Kali's eyes pricked with tears that couldn't fall, him having cried so much over the past year. He was still kneeling on the tiled floor of the bathroom, his hands in the sink. He was safe, he was alive.
He was safe, his old squad wasn't.
He was alive, his friends weren't.
Kali had evaded death for so long, it should've been him. It should've been him buried in the ground. Him who had died in that warehouse.
Ivan should be home with his husband, talking about renewing their vows since their five-year anniversary was coming up. Peter should be with his wife, making their twin daughters laugh as he danced with them in their living room. Siddhartha should be hanging out with his sisters and his parents, sitting at a dining table as they used to do every weekend. Nathan should be home with his son, helping him with his math homework because the poor boy hadn't gotten his father's love for math.
But they weren't with their families. They were gone. And he was all that was left. Left trying to pretend he was okay. Left joking and making friends when the ones who had his back for so many years were gone.
How he wished he could've traded his life for theirs.

oh hey, thanks! tbh given that i'd already gone down two separate rabbit holes for both the odyssey and der freischütz shortly before magic bullet outis came out, it is genuinely fun just to talk about her. not sure what i'd request for an in-depth writeup, but given that you're really into faust, might i trouble you for your thoughts on the council of fausts, carmen-coded female characters, and the eternal feminine? i have the sliiightest inklings of a possible link along those lines, but it's been a while since i've read faust and i'm currently too deep into fighting fish (reading moby dick) to pick it up again just yet, so your opinion would be invaluable. pls don't feel pressured to do so though! i understand if there'd be too much conjecture in it to do (especially since we're still only getting crumbs abt the council of fausts as is)
also, if you're still looking for english versions of weber's der freischütz, i mostly get by via the 1961 rudolf kempe english production (libretto by edward j. dent) and a subbed version of the 1968 film, both of which can be found on youtube. the one thing i havent found yet is a translation of the original tale though, so you'd definitely know better than i would on that haha
Okay wow ive been procrastinating on this one for a while huh.
At first it was on purpose because of the implications that we would get some more information relating to the Council of Faust in the WARP event, which we did, but after that it was just because I was lazy.
As an additional note, I am currently in the process of reading “Man and His Symbols”, a book about Jungian psychology, which is the lens I personally primarily prefer to view the following concepts on. Following that on my reading list is another of Jung’s books, titled “The Psychology of the Transference”, which I have been told mentions the eternal feminine much more directly, not to mention the bakers dozen journal articles i have saved on the topic — I mention this to state that this is almost certainly not going to be my last essay regarding these topics. I already had the vague idea of connecting Carmen to the archetypes of the collective unconscious, and now I have more material to work with regarding this. Thank you Freischutz anon. - Literally's note
This is going to be the first of at the very least 3 essays on this request, just for you <3, also for my wife Carmen.
Moving on, here we go.
To begin, I want to establish what we already know, or what some reading might not already know, regarding the titular topics of this essay:
The Gesellschaft is the newly canonised name of the “Council of Faust’s” revealed in the WARP event — Gesellchaft is a German word meaning society, or a relationship/community built on non-interpersonal ties and relations.
I do not remember exactly when the theory of the council began, however at the same time I do remember more people mentioning it surrounding N corp Faust, however for reasons I will not discuss, there is reason to believe that she is not part of this society.
Carmen-Coded Characters, alongside the Eternal Feminine, are linked together with the concept of the Jungian archetypes — The Eternal Feminine is the divine, culturally transcendent, ideality of femininity. A Jungian Archetype is a similar concept, first posed by Swiss psychiatrist Carl Jung, of the universal concepts and images which exist in humanities collective unconscious. A notable and omnipresent archetype is known as the “Anima”, which acts as the internalised, primarily unconscious, feminine traits within a man, the counterpart is known as “Animus”.
Relating back to this concept of psychology (I am so sorry, half of all the essay topics I write about circle back to this topic), the Gesellschaft may act as a literal representation of this eternal feminine, a collective trait shared across mirror worlds, a communal sisterhood of the best traits of each and every Faust.
The council acting as a mass collective, similar to a discord server, of individuals who are independent from one another, may relate back to the Anima and Animus, with the final stage often being described in the image of Sophia, a representation of divine wisdom, which is a major trait present in Geothe’s depiction of the eternal feminine through Helen.
This final manifestation of the Animus is often considered a guide of sorts, acting as a messenger, as the highest level of harmony between the conscious and unconscious mind.
The primary flaw that one may direct to this explanation is in respect to the character of Faust herself, as, as is mentioned above, the Anima and Animus are manifestations of the Feminine in man and the masculine in woman — The argument may be made that the Gesellschaft may act as the Animus, the masculine, rather than the eternal feminine as is the supposed link.
To this I pose that, though you would not be incorrect, the council itself is “Faust” as a whole, acting, in a way, as the conscious mind of the sinner, having, up until recently, been the primary decision maker. Though Faust, the sinner (God this is going to be confusing after a while if I keep writing like this), is a member of the greater “Faust”, she does not act as the primary agent of decisions — Faust, the sinner, and the greater Faust, are both representative of the Feminine in their nature.
I have also seen it posed that our sinner is in fact Gretchen, and hence is why they refer to the knowledge as “Faust’s” knowledge, however I am extremely far from convinced for this.
It is important to note that, while I do attempt to read papers and literature on these kinds of topics, I am still extremely far from an expert in this field — Though I attempt to make sure that I thoroughly understand a topic before writing about it, it is important to note that there is inevitably nuance on this topic which may be overlooked, for that I apologise.
Moving on, there is additionally a link that one may make between the ego (Freudian, not PM), the conscious mind, your “Self” focused on the current moment alongside considerations of the future, and the Gesselschaft, once again placing the greater Faust as the primary ego within Faust’s body.
This can explain the fact that Faust’s base EGO line does not change during the most recent WARP event, the statement “Faust knows all outcomes” is not referring to our Faust but rather the council, the sinner’s primary ego.
It is additionally possible that, through one means or another, it was the council of Faust’s at large which manifested the Representation Emitter EGO, however this is simple conjecture.
This is the first topic that will be discussed in this series of essays, the next will likely be the relation of the ID and the Shadow to Carmen,
also if you dont mind Freischutz anon, it would be helpful if you could elaborate on what you mean by “Carmen Coded” characters, as if you dont, I will assuredly start rambling about half related notes because I am the biggest Carmen simp. - also Literally's note
#project moon#limbus company#limbus#lcb#projmoon#essays i wrote primarily while half asleep#library of ruina#lobotomy corporation#lor#Lob Corp#carmen lobcorp#faust lcb#literally's literal illiteracy#I am so sorry this isnt exactly what you asked for#i just think that i could do a much better job after reading the books mentioned in my other notes#As i am more than confident that “Man and His Symbols” and “The Psychology of Transference” are going to shed much more insight on the topi#there are certainly better people to write about this topic lol#im nowhere near an expert on this topic#im not even really good at writing to begin with#Carmen Coded Characters and the Eternal Feminine

One night, Siru isn't quite feeling it. This one night she didn't sleep well enough, before Pesticinger summoned her from her home, flew her out to the distant woods, and had her vivisect a bird. She was going along with it - what else would she do.
But really.
She does these gross out rituals for it. She finds and brings her items. She trains her voice sore during their little band practice.
I know I got into this basically out of boredom and an inescapable need to numb the pain - Siru thinks. But really, what's in it for me. What is the follower of the plague supposed to get from this.
"When are you giving me something?" she asks, bluntly. The bird perks, tilting her head stupidly. "What am I doing this all For? What should I be getting out of this? What are you supposed to give me in return?" Siru elaborates, giving Pesticinger a bunch more words than the first sentence. It coos thoughtfully, not really saying much.
The knife Siru always uses is still in her hand.
Her black patterns start spreading, turning her a night-dark color, as a pulse of rage flows through her. She yells at Pesticinger. She curses out her life. It's alot of anger and not alot of blame that Pesticinger really deserves. Siru knows this, but fuck if she isn't good at keeping everything in until she explodes at her loved ones.
Not counting the plague as a loved one, of course, but the point still stands. The bird tries to give her words in return for hers - Siru rarely talks this much at once! Pesticinger feels it fair to give her many words in exchange. But Siru doesn't listen to it, for once. Now she's the one talking.
Unfortunately so, because whenever she says too much, she ends up regretting alot of it. That's why she doesn't talk much. She either says bad things, or worthless things.
Siru growls, and tosses the knife at Pesticinger, scaring it off. The plague takes flight, and in a heavy gust of air, she disappears into the night.
.. Great. Another interpersonal relationship wasted. She already feels guilty.
Is she really mad at Pesticinger, or is she just tired? Does she really want something out of the plague, or does she just wish she was better. Wish she didn't need the company of a monster. Wish she felt like remotely good company to said monster.
She walks home. It's very early when she gets there, and her mother is leaving for work. She's worried, and Siru says nothing to her. Nan dutifully helps her to bed. Knowing her concerns won't be answered. Siru hates herself for it. But she'd ruin even more things by telling her mother everything.
I can't believe it - she thinks. Did I really scare off A Plague? What kind of monster must I be?
Well. At least I won't have to spend nights up doing horrors anymore..
She sleeps until the next midnight.
She wakes up abruptly to the sound of something on her window. She jolts up, praying to the mistress her mom doesn't hear it. She follows the sound outside, all the way to the edges of the village. Pesticinger stands there with a bag in her beak. Siru is.. A bit shocked, to see her again.
"Listen, I'm.. I'm sorry, I just.. I feel like nobody really.. Nevermind.." Siru starts, but draws back. Pesticinger drops the bag, and with vigorous head bobs, urges her to speak more. "I listen, yes! I'm listening. Listening now!" she sings, taking a few hops towards Siru. She's.. Taken aback by this. "You feel like nobody listens to you? Do they only take never give? Is that why you're angered like this? You feel so worthless I know, this is what you said to me, but now you should say more. Say say! I listen. I don't hear you speak much. Speak more!" it continues, it's tone urgent and cautious - and maybe, just maybe.. Apologetic?
"What's.. In that bag?" Siru asks, instead.
Pesticinger blinks. "For you! Bag for you! It's givings to you, things for you, for you!" it repeats and blabbers, nudging the bag towards Siru with it's beak vigorously. It jostles to her feet, and Siru.. Still, taken aback, picks it up.
She looks inside, firstly finding the knife she threw earlier - realizing she left it there in the woods. She looks more, finding scarves. They're of fancy material and knit, with patterns, and tussles on some of them.
Oh.. Because she knows I.. Wear head scarfs.
She finds more. There's bones unclear in origin. There's instruments. Mostly flutes and other carriables. There's claws and talons. More sharp weapons. She can easily extrapolate why Pesticinger, a little bird fond of pillaging humans, would pick all these out for her.
Except...
The tie.
"Is this.. Like.. For me to wear? Dressing business casual?" Siru asks the plague. Really, it doesn't look like anything the humans from this realm would wear. It looks.. Futuristic to her. It's beyond fancy too, and made with materials she doesn't immediately recognise her villagers to have.
"If you want, you can wear it! Very stylish, Siru always stylish!" Pesticinger currs in flatteration. But it's not an explanation.
"Where.. Did you get this? Did it.. Belong to someone?"
"Sparrow's other chickling!"
Siru freezes.
"You.. Took this from.. Lassi?"
Pesticinger nods.
#Pesticinger Tuholaulaja#Siru#Demon oc#My ocs#My writings#In which we really get a glimpse into the nasty of how Siru is feeling to be drawn to Pesticingers company#I just kinda. Made this. Abruptly. Without too much planning or refining#I hope you find it insightful#Ykno kinda just developing their relationship more

this dialogue path im so 😭😭🤭🤭
#shri’iia going like you weren’t THAT good 🙄 as if she didn’t come multiple times bc he’s probably more attentive than her matriarch#like I imagine her matriarch being a very selfish lover and she always receives and never gives and shri’iia being so used to that#so when the act 1 forest sex scene comes and astarion performs as he does and he’s very giving and thorough and more focused on her own#pleasure than his shri’iia is like ?? brakes screeching noises in her brain she’s not used to this btw#not to mention she’s already drunk as fuck and trying so very hard to ignore the pain in her chest from oath breaking#so she gets even more confused and she just lets him do what he wants to do#cue the morning after .. ‘you weren’t THAT good’ whatever you’re just saving face 😭#anyway. I like this dialogue path too bc you get an insight on astarion’s pov where he says he was holding back and making his excuse#when he was probably dissociating / feeling disgusted at having to do his routine again#but then it’s all part of his plan so he gotta do it. also that’s what he knows how to do so he has to do it and liking it is a diff matter#but when he says the ‘how dare you’ like it feels more playful so I think that kind of dynamic where they clown on each other is what they#both like. I also think that in the second time they sleep together it’s a bit more playful bc they’re getting that kind of dynamic more#based on the flirting scenes you can get prior the second time he offers to sleep together again#but to me when they overtly flirt / or when they fuck is when the seeds of the romance are planted .. it only develops when they start to#hang out with each other lol. like this whole romance that’s built on deceit and using each other#gets developed bc they actually like being in each other’s company 😭😭 idk that’s so cute to me#and when they’re actually together it’s like. this slowburn where they’re not putting any labels on it#they just hang out with each other for the next couple of hundred years and occasionally get married#multiple times for the attention and gifts lol#actually have more thoughts abt astarion/shri’iia 😭 they’re infesting my mind like mold#shut up about bg3.#bg3 spoilers

We know next to nothing about Veradisa’s personality, but her friend choices are so revealing. You’re telling me she’s best friends with Lyerly? That freak of nature? Okay so she’s a little bit weird herself
#never ever think I call Lyerly a freak in a negative way. it is actually the highest honor I can bestow#but it is literally impossible to talk about her without mentioning she’s a little bit off putting#she experiences the world in a fundamentally different way than everybody else and very few people are willing to bridge that gap#that Veradisa not only is kind to her but actively chooses to spend time exclusively in her company (when we know she has other options)#says that she LIKES they way Lyerly is uniquely insightful and off and different#and that’s reciprocated! they are matching each other’s freak!#do not forget that this is the girl Heath chooses to date#the ONLY girl he canonically chooses to date#your honor they are all a little queer#those bitches are NOT operating within societal frameworks of normality and I will love them forever and ever#celias journey#veradisa millrift#lyerly
