Try a Little Kindness
Use your heads as you live and work among outsiders. Don’t miss a trick. Make the most of every opportunity. Be gracious in your speech. The goal is to bring out the best in others in a conversation, not put them down, not cut them out.                                                                     ~ Colossians 4:5-6 “It is amazing what you can accomplish if you do not care who gets the…

ENEMY LOVE?
How are Christians to relate to an increasingly hostile and alien culture? Do we respond in kind, fighting for the values we hold dear, or does Christ call us to a better, more productive way?
How are Christians to relate to an increasingly hostile and alien culture? Just as I presented some historical context, let’s broaden our view a bit to gain some important Biblical context.  Up above, we saw through the example of the Old Testament, that despite being God’s chosen people, there were times when Israel disobeyed and in turn suffered calamity and banishment under the just judgment…

Life in Short Bursts
I am in that season of life when stamina is not what it once was. Strength is less than it once was. Muscle tone is a daily battle that, if not fought and won, daily, is lost easily with further diminishment of strength and stamina. So I am learning to live life in short bursts, and I am learning that it is amazing what can be accomplished in those bursts. I don’t know who said it. I can’t…

But Now
“But now” is an important method when it comes to understanding the Bible. If we straddle prophecy and mystery we will be unstable and doubleminded as things are different now to the way they once were in times past during Matthew, Mark, Luke & John. During the time of Matthew, Mark, Luke and John the law (keeping the Sabbath, celebrating the feast days, adhering to a kosher diet, etc) wasn’t…

Seeking Wisdom:
Unlocking the Treasures of God's Knowledge
Introduction: Join us in exploring the profound truths and practical insights that can transform our lives as we seek after the wisdom that comes from God.
Scripture Passage: Proverbs 2:1-6 (KJV) Cross References: James 1:5, Proverbs 4:7-9, Colossians 2:2-3
Commentary: Proverbs 2:1-6 encourages us to incline our ear unto wisdom, apply our heart to understanding, cry out for knowledge, and search diligently for wisdom like hidden treasures. This passage promises that the Lord gives wisdom and knowledge, and from His mouth comes understanding.
James 1:5 assures us that if any lack wisdom, they should ask of God, who gives to all liberally and without reproach, and it will be given to them. This verse underscores the importance of seeking God's wisdom through prayer and dependence on Him.
Proverbs 4:7-9 extols the virtues of wisdom, urging us to get wisdom and with all our getting, get understanding. Wisdom is likened to the principal thing, and in all our getting, we are exhorted to get understanding.
Colossians 2:2-3 reveals that in Christ are hidden all the treasures of wisdom and knowledge, emphasizing the centrality of Christ in our pursuit of wisdom and understanding.
Questions:
How does seeking wisdom from God impact your decision-making and daily choices?
In what areas of your life do you need wisdom and understanding?
How can you apply the principles of wisdom found in Scripture to navigate challenges and uncertainties?
What steps can you take to deepen your knowledge of God and His ways through His Word?
Prayer: Heavenly Father, we humbly come before you seeking wisdom and understanding that can only come from you. Grant us the desire to diligently search for wisdom like hidden treasures, knowing that you are the source of all true knowledge. May the wisdom we gain from your Word transform our lives and glorify your name. Amen.
