Fixing Our Eyes on Jesus: The Key to Stronger Faith
Stronger faith is rooted in Jesus Christ, who initiates and perfects it. By fixing our eyes on Him, we find strength and purpose.
Introduction: Faith is only as strong as the object in which it is placed. As Christians, the object of our faith is not a concept, a philosophy, or even a list of rules—it’s a person, Jesus Christ. Jesus is not only the one who calls us to faith, but He is also the one who perfects it. When our faith is rooted in Him, we are anchored, secure, and able to persevere through life’s challenges.…

Trusting God in the Valleys
Job.
Y’all, the Book of Job is WILD.
It kicks off with this almost unthinkable conversation between God and the Devil. The Devil points out Job—this man who’s been loyal, faithful, blameless his whole life—and says, “Well, of course, he’s faithful. Look at everything he has! Take it all away, and watch what happens. I bet he’ll curse You to Your face.”
And God allows the test. He told the Devil, “Go ahead. Do what you want with him—just don’t take his life.”
Challenge accepted.
But here’s the incredible thing: God knew Job’s heart. This wasn’t some blind test or gamble; it was rooted in the deep relationship between God and Job. At one point, God even calls Job “friend.” Think about that—God wasn’t putting Job through this because He doubted him. He knew Job so well, loved him so deeply, that He was confident Job’s faith would hold strong.
God knew that no matter what the Devil threw at him—no matter the pain, loss, or heartache—Job’s heart was anchored in Him. God trusted Job’s loyalty because He understood his heart like no one else could.
And so, the Devil took everything. Job’s family, his wealth, his health—it was all gone. He ended up sitting in ashes, covered in sores, broken and alone. And the only people left around him were three “friends” who didn’t exactly do much to comfort Job.
These friends basically spent chapters telling him he must’ve done something wrong. Over and over, they insisted, “Come on, Job, God wouldn’t let this happen to you if you were truly innocent. Own up to whatever it is you’ve done wrong, and maybe things will turn around.”
One friend, Bildad, really drove it home in Chapter 18. He told Job, “The light of the wicked is put out.” In other words, people who go through suffering like this must be far from God. Bildad was convinced Job’s suffering was punishment, plain and simple.
But here’s the thing—Job didn’t back down. He didn’t say, “Yeah, maybe I deserve this.” He knew he hadn’t sinned against God, and he refused to lie just to make his friends more comfortable. Instead, he challenged them. “Take it up with God—He’s allowed all of this,” he told them.
Job’s friends couldn’t see his heart, but God could. God knew his integrity, his faith, and his loyalty. Even when Job was at his lowest, he clung to that truth.
Job went on to list his pain, his isolation, his loss. He had nothing. His family was gone, his friends had turned on him, his body was failing. He was barely more than bones. He’d lost it all.
And then, in the middle of his suffering, in Chapter 19, verse 25, Job makes one of the most remarkable declarations of faith: “For I know that my Redeemer lives.”
After everything—the suffering, the heartbreak, the loneliness—Job still held onto his faith. He believed, deeply, that God was with him. He knew that, even after all he’d lost, God was still his Redeemer. He believed that at the end of his suffering, he would see God face-to-face. “I shall see for myself,” he said.
God didn’t just see Job’s suffering; He saw Job’s heart. And that’s why He trusted him. Job’s story isn’t just about his endurance through hardship; it’s about a relationship so deep that God could trust him with this test, knowing Job’s heart would stay true.
I’ve been thinking about that a lot lately—how God is the same whether we’re in the valleys or on the mountaintops. He sees our struggles, yes, but He also sees the heart behind them. He knows when we’re clinging to Him, even when we’re barely holding on. He’s faithful in our highs and in our lows.
The God who knew Job’s heart so intimately knows ours too. He sees us in our valleys, and He never leaves us there alone. The same God who trusted Job’s heart in the hardest of times is the same God who walks with us through ours. He’s not just the God of blessing and abundance—He’s the God who stays with us in the desolate places.
Our God doesn’t leave us in our valleys. He doesn’t abandon us in our brokenness. He’s the God of restoration, of patience, of steadfast love. The same God who held Job’s heart in his darkest hour is the same God who holds ours.
And maybe that’s the most comforting part of all—knowing that God sees us completely. He sees our fears, our doubts, our faith, and our loyalty, even when the world doesn’t. And because of that, we can trust that no matter what comes, our Redeemer lives. We are never alone. God knows our hearts. And that changes everything.

From Fear of Things to Faith in God | 1 Samuel 12:24-25
What great thing has the Lord has done for you?
Welcome to the Daily Devo. I am Vince Miller.
This week, we are in 1 Samuel 12. I've titled this chapter "God is Faithful When We Are Not."
In the story, Samuel is giving his farewell address, and he closes off his great speech with these words in 1 Samuel 12:24-25:
Only fear the Lord and serve him faithfully with all your heart. For consider what great things he has done for you. But if you still do wickedly, you shall be swept away, both you and your king. — 1 Samuel 12:24-25
In these two verses, Samuel implores the people to transition their fears. He wants them to move from fearing "things" to fearing "one" worth fearing—the Lord.
In the Bible, there are two broad references to fear. One is often called a "spirit of fear," which is focused on things and results in disbelief and disobedience. The other is the "fear of the Lord," which is focused on God and results in faith, obedience, awe, and reverence.
Samuel has appropriately identified the issue of the nation. The issue they keep having is the same issue that all believers have. Our faith is tested and exposed by the things we fear. If we fear things in this life, then we are putting our faith in the things of this life. If we fear God, we are putting our faith in the person of God.
This is where the battle of faith is fought every day. Today, you are going to experience some fear. Fear of a person. Fear of failure. Fear of being late. Fear of letting someone down. There are so many things to fear that I can't list them all. But you will encounter a fear of some kind that is unique to you. The challenge is not letting the fear of that thing, whatever it is, control you. You must turn from fearing that thing to faith in God, who is worth fearing. Samuel suggests we consistently make that turn by "considering all the great things God has done."
In this instance, the most recent great thing the people of Israel could "consider" was that unexplainable storm. A storm rolled in and drenched them in a stormless season, reminding them that God was in complete control of all things and his word to Samuel was ordained by God.
Surely, in your life, you have one of these unexplainable divine events that display God's faithfulness—one that brings you back to the fear of the Lord when you fear other things. Remember, recall, and consider this event and what God did for you in detail when fear strikes you today, which will help to anchor you in a reverent fear of the Lord.
#FearOfTheLord, #GodsFaithfulness, #DailyDevotional
Ask This:
How has a recent challenge or fear in your life been met with a reminder of God’s faithfulness, and how did it shift your perspective or response?
What specific "great things" has God done in your life that you can recall and use to strengthen your faith when faced with fear or doubt?
Do This:
Remember a moment of God's faithfulness when you experience a fear.
Pray This:
Lord, help me to remember and reflect on the great things You have done in my life, especially when I am overwhelmed by fear. Strengthen my faith to trust in Your power and faithfulness above all else. Amen.
Play This:
I Will Fear No More.

Navigating Temptations with God's Faithfulness: 1 Corinthians 10:13
📖 "No temptation has overtaken you except such as is common to man; but God is faithful, who will not allow you to be tempted beyond what you are able, but with the temptation will also make the way of escape, that you may be able to bear it." - 1 Corinthians 10:13 (NKJV) 🙏
This verse reminds us that we all face challenges and temptations, but we're not alone in these struggles. God's faithfulness provides us with a way out, enabling us to withstand and overcome whatever we encounter. Let's remember that our strength comes from Him, and with His help, we can navigate through life's trials. 🌟 #BibleVerseOfTheDay #GodsFaithfulness #StrengthInTemptation

In a world where everything and everyone changes, we can depend on God’s faithfulness. #relyongod
Never rely on people and circumstances, they can change anytime, rely on God.
He loves you and it never changes. #godisfaithful

The Connection Between Faith and Obedience
Faith and obedience are integral in Christianity. Reflecting love for God through action. Genuine faith compels believers to follow God.
Introduction: Faith and obedience are inseparable in the Christian life. True faith is not just a matter of intellectual belief or emotional conviction—it compels us to act. When we trust God, we naturally want to follow His commands. Obedience is the outward expression of inward faith. Jesus made it clear that loving Him means obeying His commandments. Today, we will explore how obedience flows…

"therefore the Lord God sent him out of the garden of Eden to till the ground from which he was taken." - Genesis 3:23
Who is God? It's a question everyone asks at some point in life. I've asked this question many times. I've discovered that it cannot be answered in a simple word or sentence. It would be like describing yourself in one word or sentence - it would fall short of fully doing justice to the person you are and everything that makes you you. You would want someone to spend some time with you and get to know you in order to understand who you are really.
So it is with God. Only bigger. He is so much older and bigger than humans that it could take a lifetime (or more) to really get to know Him. That's why this blog is called faith "journeys" - getting to know God is a journey. The beautiful thing about this journey is that, not only do you get to know God, but you also get to know yourself: who you are, who you were, and who you were meant to be.
I am still on my journey, but every day more characteristics of God are revealed to me. One of the things I have learned about Him is that He exists outside of our concept of time, but not in ignorance of it. From His perspective, He can see our past, present, and future all at once! And not just the things that happen to us, but the ways in which we change internally too: the thoughts and ideas we have, the things that are important to us, the development of our character. That's why people can trust in His plan, because He sees more than we can see with our limited perception, even of ourselves.
For example, when God created humans, He already knew that we would disobey Him and eat the fruit of the tree of knowledge. He already knew the choices we would make and all the sadness (and joy) He would go through, but He still decided it was worth it to make us. And even when He sent Adam and Eve out of the garden, He already had a plan for how to get us back.
Our exile from the garden was never meant to be permanent. But we believed the serpent's lie then, and we still believe it now. Our delusion that God has not really saved us is what is keeping us from accepting His invitation. God knew that too: that we would be deluded by a lie that we weren't loved. That's why He has stayed with us and kept His invitation open for anyone who wants it. He says, "Behold, I stand at the door, and knock: if any man hear my voice, and open the door, I will come in to him, and will sup with him, and he with me." (Revelation 3:20)
Let's open the door together, and claim God's promise and the truth that He loves us and has never left our side.
