Permanent Makeup: The Freedom of Permanent Cosmetics
You will love waking up each day with the color in your lips, on your eyes, and your eyebrows perfectly in place. No smudging, smearing, or washing off after showering or swiming. No wearing off at the end of a long day. Imagine the time you will save in front of the mirror in applications and touch-ups. Permanent cosmetic procedures should be performed by a master certified cosmetic artist for best results.
This is a state of the art method of appling natural pigment to the dermal layer of the skin. This technique was medically developed and specifically designed for the complete safety of various procedures such as eye brows, eyeliner, lip liner, lip color, scar camouflage, areola restoration, vitiligo, freckles and stretch marks.
Permanent cosmetics can be applied to look natural for the enhancemnet of your own personal features. This allows you the freedom to achieve a more dramatic look with the application of regular makeup as your mood dictates.
This new technology of makeup will impress those of us who are so busy, as well as the client with oily skin, who's makeup had faded or rubbed off by the end of the day. Anyone allergic to the use of regular makeup will find this procedure extremely beneficial.
Both men and women will look their best at all times, no matter how busy their lifestyles have become. Prices range from $400 and up per procedure. Many upscale Spas, including Jon Tomas Salon & Spa in St. Louis,MO, have a permanent cosmetic artist on staff.
Experience the freedom of permanent cosmetics for yourself!
Makeup Review: E.L.F.'s Eyeshadow Duo
Tumblr media
Ordering makeup online is risky. You don't know how the product feels on your skin, if you like the quality, and so much more. There are questions that you want answered before you throw money into a product. I try to answer your questions about makeup products before you purchase. I have personally purchased and tested each product I review to optimize your overall opinion.
Right now we are going to take a peek at e.l.f.'s eyeshadow duo. This is a product recently developed by e.l.f. During this review we are going to take a look at the colors, texture, and application life.
Colors:
I had purchased e.l.f.'s eyeshadow duo creams a couple months back and got each color. When I was buying these eyeshadow duo's I noticed the colors were identical to e.l.f.'s duo creams. There's a total of six duo's available for purchase right now: Butter pecan, olive, mocha swirl, blueberry, berry mix, and black licorice.
I was very pleased with the colors because they were highly pigmented. Unlike most other e.l.f. eyeshadow products, these shadows were actually rather matte. There was a little shimmer to each color, but not a lot. The eyeshadow duo's were actually a breath of fresh air.
Texture:
Texture is a very big part of an eyeshadow to me and it should be to you as well. Skin around the eye is very sensitive and can easily be damaged by the slightest pulling, poking, and prodding. You want to ensure the makeup you apply to the eye area is very gentle and mild.
E.l.f.'s shadow duo is a friendly bunch to the eye. The texture is very soft and subtle. I like to test shadow products on my ring finger before my eye, and, needless to say, I was very happy with the results on both my finger and eyelid.
This shadow did not crease and it did not flake. It is very easy to work with in the blending area. Since each shadow comes partnered with another shadow of the like, you can easily form a new look each day.
Application life:
I was very impressed with the application life of these shadows. Most shadows I purchase online turn out to be very cheap and an overall waste of money. Not with these.
I judged this shadow in three different ways: with concealer, with primer, and on bare skin. Each of these application processes are used on a daily basis.
·        On bare skin - I got approx. four hours of full application life from this duo. There was a little fading on the lighter shadows during this time, but not too much.
·        On concealer - I applied a concealer before application and it only caused creasing, so I would not recommend doing that.
·        On primer - I put the primer on before the shadow and got a lot better results. I got approx. five hours of full wear.
All-in-all, it's a good shadow for the price and I would recommend adding it to your makeup collection.
You can find this product starting from $5.00 at Amazon:
e.l.f. DuoEyeshadow, Butter Pecan, 0.34 Ounce - $5.95
e.l.f. DuoEyeshadow, Black Licorice, 0.34 Ounce - $5.90
E.L.F. Duo EyeshadowBlueberry - $5.00
e.l.f. Duo EyeshadowSet with Brush and Pencil, Night - $8.90
How to Pull Off the No Makeup Look Successfully
Ever wanted to try to walk out in public without wearing any makeup and not feel embarrassed or even almost naked at the same time? Don't be shy anymore, here are a few tips to get you started in the right direction of letting your face be "au naturale".
First of all make sure your face is cleansed thoroughly. Any dirty residue can make your facial skin appear dull or blotchy. I would recommend using the facial bar soap by Clinique that fits your skin type to make sure your skin is squeaky clean without drying it out. Afterwards follow up with a toner and moisturizer (I would also recommend using ones by Clinique as well). If you have fairer skin or are going to be outside for a longer period of time, make sure you use a moisturizer that has a good amount of SPF for protection against the sun's damaging effects, especially on your bare skin.
Do you have dark circles on your eyes or have puffy eyes? Soothe them with a de-puff eye gel such as the all natural Yes To Cucumbers brand. It goes on clear and leaves no trace of residue behind and does an excellent job of calming down the eye area. Make sure you get enough sleep the night before to prevent this from happening in the first place.
Make sure everything is neat about your face, especially your eyebrows. Keep your eyebrows tame with a tweezer, but try to do this the night before to avoid red, irritated skin on your upper eye area.
You hair plays a major part in giving you that fresh look. Make sure hair is not messy and all over the place or else it will contribute to a disarrayed, "I don't really care about my looks" appearance. A simple neat ponytail or your hair combed neatly will simply do the trick.
Do you have acne prone skin and simply cannot risk walking out showing off your blemishes for the whole wide world to see? Invest in a concealer specially formulated with salicylic acid that matches the exact skin tone of your skin and lightly dab it on to your blemishes, but don't over do it or else it will be obvious that you something foreign on your face. You can follow up with a tinted SPF moisturizer to make sure your skin tone looks even. Do you have sparse eyelashes and don't want to appear tired? Brighten them by using clear mascara on your lashes to still achieve the natural look.
Makeup Additives - Do You Know What You're Putting on Your Face?
In today's society many women apply makeup every morning before they leave the house but how many people really know what they're putting on their face?
Do you know what each additive does in your cosmetics? These are six additives found in makeup that you may not know their purpose: benzethonium chloride, candelilla wax, cetyl alcohol, para aminobenzoic acid, propylene glycol, and triethanolamine.
When you buy makeup you should always check the label to make sure that there is some sort of preserving agent that will prevent germs from growing. One of the most common preservatives and antiseptic compounds found in makeup is benzethonium chloride.
Candelilla wax is found in lipstick and lip balms and is what allows them to harden. Candelilla wax is derived from the leaves and stems of the candelilla shrub found in the southwestern states and northern Mexico.
The majority of additives that are used in makeup are found in foundation. Cetyl alcohol is an emollient, meaning it is used in makeup to soften and smooth the skin to which it is applied. This is used in foundations to create a soft look on the face.
Para aminobenzoic acid which is sometimes abbreviated to PABA used to be commonly found in foundations that offer sunscreen protection from UV rays. But according to the National Institute of Health: National Library of Medicine (2007), this compound isn't commonly used anymore since it has been found to increase the risk of skin cancer in certain people whose bodies are not able to repair cellular defects caused by this acid.
Another additive found in many foundations is propylene glycol which helps prevent your skin from drying out when applying makeup by retaining it's own moisture. This organic compound is also commonly used in body and facial moisturizers, not just makeup.
Triethanolamine stearate is an emulsifying agent used in foundations and other cosmetics to combine oil and water for a smooth appearance. This organic chemical compound can also be used as a pH balancer and is found in other beauty products, besides makeup, it is found in lotions, shaving foam, and shampoos.
These six additives are only some of those which you will find in the makeup you put on your face everyday and now you can feel a little more confident about what you're using. If your makeup has other additives in the ingredients, don't worry, cosmetic manufacturers use different products but FDA regulations prohibit the use of additives which may be dangerous in US produced makeup.

my skincare routine
after eye-makeup removal...
1. innisfree green tea cleansing foam: I’m on my second bottle. I swear by this stuff. since changing my skin routine, I’ve had only about three breakouts in the past year and they were all stress-induced (baby, job, adult life shenanigans, what else).
2a. innisfree green tea seed serum: just started using this after cleansing. it’s refreshing, light and I’m guessing it’s supposed to hydrate my skin.
2b. scinic snail all-in-one ampoule: boasted to be a combination of essence, toner, moisturizer and booster, I used to apply this after cleansing. it’s sticky for sure but it’s super moisturising...not sure if I really need it in England due to humidity. husband loves it though so money hasn’t been wasted.
3. innisfree green tea balance/fresh cream: first started with balance cream and now trying fresh cream. can’t see a difference on my skin but both keeps it soft and supple.
4. A'PIEU madecassoside needle spot patch: if I do happen to have a breakout, I pop one of these babies on. unfortunately I’m a huge dork and didn’t realise you can peel off the paper part so that it appears clear and invisible on your skin. instead I just went out looking like a dweeb while Evelyn kept poking my face. I’d give it a 6/10 as I only used it once and while I had a remnant of a spot left upon removal, the entirety of the spot disappeared after a day or two. Not too bad but a pack of 10 was like $10 USD...
in the morning, repeat the above but no 2a/2b and my bare basics for everyday purposes:
5. missha M perfect cover BB cream no.23: my old go-to was Clinique primer and even-better foundation but needed something quick and easy. decided to test this one thanks to @jiangdouhong‘s extensive bb cream review. like her, I despise the dispenser; utterly bonkers of a thing. also, no.23 is too grey for my skin tone but it blends enough to not make a difference. final judgment: will not buy again (despite good price).
6. missha color graph eye pencil rosy bronze: for years, I was a MAC pen-ultimate black liquid eyeliner girl but I needed something less high-maintenance and didn’t fade/smear through the day. I opted for ‘rosy bronze’ which is more of a good ole neutral brown with slight shimmer, barely noticeable to me. it’s a bugger to take off but it’s quick and easy to apply (which is crucial when Evelyn is crawling up my leg). lasts pretty much all day despite me rubbing my eyes (which you shouldn’t do if you wear contacts!)
7. it’s skin strawberry macaron lip balm: tastes like candy; baby girl's eaten some.

Tomorrow is American Independence Day, and to celebrate I decided to channel the red-white-and-blue through my makeup!
I wanted to create a look that I would actually wear out in public, so, before I even picked up a brush I knew I was going to finish off this look with a red lip – a matte one, in fact, so it wouldn’t slide around as I’m enjoying a family barbecue or watching fireworks light up the night sky!
The finished look! I’m calling it “The Blue Firework”
I began by prepping my skin – washing my face, then applying eye cream and moisturizer. My face-washing routine and favorite skin care products will be available on We Aim To Slay soon!
My day and night face washing routines are very similar, but differ because of one product!
After washing my face, I applied a generous amount of the “Formula 10.0.6 Seriously Shine Free Mattifying Oil-Free Moisturizer with aloe vera and bamboo.” Even though this is a moisturizer, I like to use it as a primer in the summer. The bamboo extract helps to minimize shine, while the aloe vera soothes and hydrates!
I had previously reviewed this product in a post about an Ulta haul, which is linked here! And, also coming soon, is a post where I’ll discuss the finite details of how I apply my favorite makeup products!
“Conceal, don’t feel, don’t let it show…”
Next it’s time to conceal the fact that I hardly ever sleep! Currently I’ve been using the “Clinique Beyond Perfecting Super Concealer” in shade Medium 18, which I blend using my ring fingers.
Then I apply my favorite foundation: the “Urban Decay Naked Skin One & Done Hybrid Complexion Perfector” in shade Medium Dark.
With my main base applied, I begin the first round of an uncountable series of blending, starting with the Real Techniques Miracle Complexion Sponge.
Blending may take forever, but it certainly does create a seamless look and finish!
Now I set these products with the “Coty Airspun Loose Face Powder” with a Morphe R2 brush.
After I apply the powder all over my face, I use my blending sponge to bake my under eyes. I first mentioned the baking technique in my 2017 New Years Eve Get Ready With Me post. It’s not something that I do frequently, but every time I do I’m impressed.
Next I applied the “Tarte Amazonian Clay 12 Hour Blush” in shade Quirky, and the “Urban Decay Naked Illuminated Shimmering Powder” in shade Aura as highlighter to finish off my base.
On the right, my natural eyebrow. On the left, my eyebrow after filling in with powder and using a spoolie brush to comb the product through.
Moving to the eye – the focal point of this look – I started by sculpting my eyebrows. To do so I used the “Nyx Wicked Dreams” eyeshadow palette.
Now the fun begins! To create this blue eyeshadow look I used two shadow palettes – “Kylie Cosmetics Blue Honey” and “Alamar Cosmetics Reina Del Caribe.”
    This slideshow requires JavaScript.
Step one – apply the shade “Raw” from the Kylie palette all over the eye area, from the lash line up under the brow bone. I used a fluffy eyeshadow brush, and it’s the brush I’ll be using for most of this look.
Next I applied the Kylie shade “Buzz Off” as my lid color. This is a shimmery silver color, which will help give the illusion of sparklers and fireworks – pretty festive, right?
On to the color of the hour: blue! I used the Alamar shade “Celia” to begin carving out my crease and outer corner. This shade is closer to a teal, but eye makeup is like an artist’s gradient scale – color should be built gradually to allow for a buildable depth and shadowy darkness.
Back to blending: this time I’ll be using a fluffy shadow blending brush to smooth the lines between shadow shades.
Then I added that shadow and depth by adding the Alamar shade “Varadero” on top of the shade “Celia”. I recommend tapping excess powder off of the brush before applying it to your eye. This will reduce powder fall out, but also allows you to deepen the color little by little for your desired effect. At this point I’ll blend again, and add another layer or two of “Varadero” until I reach my desired shade of blue, blending between layers.
Because I just spent so much time with a dark shade, I’m going to use a flat packing brush to apply another layer of “Buzz Off” to the inner third of my eye (from the inner corner to just over the curve of the eye). Using the same blending brush, I’ll use one side to blend from the inner corner to just over the curve, and then flip the brush and use the other side to blend from the outer corner in, just over the curve.
Using a Nyx B-18 eyebrow brush, I lined my bottom lash line in the shade “Varadero,” which I brought from the outer corner until my lashes stop being visible. To finish off the eyeshadow, I used the Alamar shade “El Malecon” to highlight my inner corner. I brought this shade out to meet the bottom liner shade.
To finish the eye, I applied the “Maybelline Master Precise All Day Liquid Liner” in black to the top liner, bringing the line out into a wing. And, I topped it off with the “Maybelline Lash Stiletto Ultimate Length” waterproof mascara in black.
To complete the look, I lined my lips with the “Urban Decay 24/7 Glide-On Lip Pencil” in shade Uptight, and went over that with the “NARS Velvet Matte Lip Crayon” in shade “Cruela.”
And there you have it, a fun and barbecue-approved, 4th of July makeup look! If you give this or a similar look a try, post it on Instagram with the hashtag #WeAimToSlay, so that I can see what you create! Happy Independence Day, and remember to SLAY!

BEGINNERS MAKE UP TIPS FOR DARK SKIN TONE
Tumblr media
Beginners Make Up Tips for Dark Skin Tone
From bright red to purple and plum, darker complexions can pull off virtually any cosmetic shade. With so many options, it can be overwhelming to choose the best combination for your particular skin tone. To create a flattering appearance and enhance your best features we look at beginners make up tips for dark skin tone.
Tumblr media
Tips for a Professional Make Up Look
Tumblr media
We all want perfect contouring, sleek lashes, and beautiful brows but if you are not familiar with the necessary makeup types and brands, achieving this look could be incredibly difficult to achieve. From bronzers and eye shadow to lipsticks and eyeliners, a variety of products are available to enhance your features. The basic items that should be a part of every makeup kit include foundation, concealers, eyeliner, lipsticks, bronzers, mascara, and primers. Eye shadow, False lashes, powders, and lip gloss are great additions too providing an extra bit of glam when you need it.
Before Purchasing Make Up Always Check Your Skin’s Undertone
The undertone of your skin includes the blue to yellow shades that determine which cosmetic color will best enhance and brighten your complexion rather than detract from it. If a cool undertone wears warmer shades such as yellow, orange or gold it can leave a washed out complexion making you appear pale or as possessing a dull tone rather than playing up your best features. You can test for undertones by looking at the delicate skin in your neck just below the jawline or the underside of your wrist. Cooler tones are characterized by prominent blue veins and purple areas while warmer tones include yellow shades and vein colors that are greener than it is blue. Neutral is somewhere in the middle.
Tumblr media
Knowing your undertones is important when selecting foundations and eye shadows. It ensures that the product best complements your complexion and appears as natural as possible. The purpose of any cosmetic product is to enhance your best features. Investing in quality ranges can deliver beautiful results. A dark complexion with cooler undertones should pick foundations that best complement such requirements. Be sure to test the foundation on your neck. The product should blend easily and naturally enhancing your overall skin color. You do not want to have two separate colors on your face and your body. The purpose of using foundation is to provide an all-over and even appearance that conceals minor sun damage and the signs of aging. If you cannot find a single foundation to suit your complexion, combine at least two products to create that much desired natural appeal. Before using foundation, always apply a primer. The primer is a thin base with a powdery consistency that helps smooth the foundation and extends its wear through the course of the day or night.
Creating a Natural Appeal with Make Up
With beginners make up tips for dark skin tone you can create a fresh appearance for a day out or apply gold and silver eye shadow for a night of fun. Fortunately, for darker complexions, most colors from shimmering metallic to bright red and cherry pink will produce a beautiful and striking result. Just do not pair your blue eye shadow with a plum lipstick! Allow one facial feature to shine, That means if you are applying a bold eye shadow, its best to pair it with a simple lipstick, vice versa.
Concealers
Guerlain Terracotta Bronzing Powder
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Contouring is a way of enhancing the features of your face. Its best to get two shades lighter and two shades darker than your normal foundation shade to avoid harsh lines. The lighter shades are for areas your want attention to while the darker shade works best in deviating attention off that area, areas like a double chin. It is also important to know your face shape in order to get a good contouring result. The oval face shape has been named the most flattering and every contouring technique should be aimed at getting an oval face shape. knowing your face shape is the most important beginners make up tips for dark skin tone to get familiar with.
Blusher
Mac Margin Powder Blush
Tumblr media Tumblr media
For a very dark skin tone, finding the right type of blusher can be difficult. We suggest deep reds and bright orange blushers to really stand out and provide shimmering effects across your cheeks. Pale pinks and peaches should be avoided. Try  Mac cosmetics and NARs
Eye Shadow
Wet N Wild Color Icon 10-Pan Eyeshadow
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Eye shadows from blue and green to silver and charcoal look beautiful on caramel to dark complexions. You can invest in a range of eye shadow colors from blue tones for cooler complexions to yellow and bronze for warmer hues. Eye shadow in browns and beiges can produce a neutral appeal and a slight shimmer to your lids, perfect for a day at the office or outdoors.
Lipstick
Tumblr media Tumblr media
For beginners in applying to makeup, lipstick is the one item that remains a necessity. Dark skin tones can take advantage of bold red and bright pink. For the odd occasion and something different, green and blue lipsticks have become trend worthy. You can apply a lip liner to guide the application onto your lips. A gloss provides an attractive finish and extends the wear of the cosmetic. For cool undertones, pink produce and incredible pop while warmer tones benefit from peach, and berry or orange-red shades. Playing around with these colors and looking at what best suits your complexion will help you choose lipsticks that work best for your complexion.
Tumblr media
Eyebrows
raillery Matte Eye Shadow Palette
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Avoid black eyebrow pencils and powders and use chocolate or dark brown instead. It simply softens your look as black can have quite a hard effect on feminine facial features. Simply apply these cosmetics to fill in thin eyebrows. If you already have thick and full brows, getting it shaped and trimmed produces an appealing streamlined and neat result.
Moisturizer
CLINIQUE Moisture Surge Intense Skin Hydrator
Tumblr media Tumblr media
While moisturizer may not fit into beginners make up tips for dark skin tone, it is an important part of maintaining a healthy complexion. It is also important to moisturize before applying any makeup, wait at least two minutes after moisturizing before applying primer. Always remove makeup and impurities at the end of the day. A gentle cleanser and toner can easily remove foundation to mascara. Invest in a good moisturizer applied before primer and foundation. Your cream or lotion must contain an SPF to protect against damages caused by the sun. This ensures the proper protective measures are in place to keep your skin looking clean, clear and youthful. Regardless of your age or experience in cosmetics, everyone can learn how to apply and choose make up to suit their needs and complexions. The darker skin tone can get away with virtually any color of make up particularly bright shades. If you are a beginner in applying makeup, practice with various shades and brands to find cosmetic combinations that best achieve the desired outcome. Quality products and investing in the necessary time can produce a natural enhancement for any event.

April Favorites
I’m still trying out a load of new beauty products I picked up in April, some of which I already know I love and some I’m still undecided on. Anyway, here’s a list of all the things I definitely loved this month:
beauty
- Charlotte Tilbury Colour Chameleon Eye Shadow Pencil in “Bronzed Garnet”. This is a chubby eyeshadow stick in a beautiful bronze shade with a hint of purple to it- it’s meant for green eyes but it looks gorgeous on even the deepest brown or the lightest blue eyes as well. It’s easy to use, a unique color, blends well and lasts.
- MAC Extra Dimension Skin Finish in “Oh Darling!” . I have enough powder highlights to last me until I die, but I couldn’t resist the pull of this GORGEOUS gold, sparkle-y one from MAC. I think it shows up a little better and lasts longer than even my beloved Becca highlights, and the true gold color is perfect on my fair skin but would probably look even better on deep skin.
- Armani Lip Magnet in “301 Heat” . I am a lover of coral lipstick, especially in the spring and summer, but I didn’t actually have one in a long-lasting liquid lipstick formula. After trying this formula in another shade and adoring it, I decided to take the ($$) plunge during the Sephora sale. This is hands down the most comfortable liquid lipstick formula I’ve ever tried- it isn’t drying and when it eventually starts to fade it does so gently (no dreaded butthole lip). It’s not completely transfer proof, but while some might end up on your cup, it doesn’t look like it’s left your mouth, and this has lasted me hours and hours.
- Clinique Pretty Easy Liquid Lining Pen. We all know that I haven’t been the hugest fan of Clinique, but man are they making a comeback! This eyeliner is around the same price as the KVD tattoo pen, but the tip is slightly thinner so you can really get a precise, thin line. It’s also more easily available and probably will last me a little longer.
skincare
- SHEET MASKS you guys. I know I’m 100 years late to the game (mostly because sheet masks are by nature, meant to impart moisture into the skin, and I’ve typically been into masks that help detox my oily/congested skin) but I’ve been really enjoying them lately. Other than how they help my skin to feel and look awesome, I’ve loved that I don’t have to wash my face at all and I can wear my glasses over them! The best one I’ve tried so far is this ORGAID Vitamin C one, but if you’re looking for quantity without sacrificing quality, these Innisfree It’s Real Squeeze sheet masks come in a set of 15 for $14 on Amazon - I love that they smell like real fruit but aren’t harsh or sticky.
- Pixi Glow Tonic. You might be familiar with the Pixi Beauty brand at Target, which has been sort of of a miss for me in the past. However everyone raves about their glow tonic being an amazing chemical exfoliant/ toner, and I finally tried it out. I’ve already seen my skin improve- it looks less dull and the congestion on my nose has died out, plus some hormonal acne scars are starting to fade!
movies + TV
- Pretty Little Liars is back for the final 10 episodes!!!!! Anyone else freaking the fudge out?? No? Just me? I’m actually planning to do a post just about PLL and my theories about the final reveal... even though I might be the only person this excited for it.
- American Gods. I’ve only watched the first episode of this series based on the book by Neil Gaiman, but so far it looks craaazy. The special effects are cool and it has some of my favorite actors (Ian McShane, and the guy who plays pornstache in OITNB/ the crazy guy who kidnaps Det. Benson on SVU).
- The Little Hours. Yooooo, I don’t know when this is coming to regular theaters, but I got a glimpse of this hysterical sexy nun comedy during the Boston independent film festival and died. It was simply amazing- misandry, witches, nuns, spot-on performances by every comedy actor/tress you’ve ever loved. Definitely check it out.
books
- Milk And Honey by Rupi Kaur. This is a beautiful collection of short, female-centered poems by a young Indian woman. I was moved by 99% of them and enjoyed reading quiet, inspirational notes that remind me to love myself. There are also cool illustrations making this seem like a feminist Shel Silverstein book.
- Annihilation by Jeff VanderMeer. I won’t lie, I started reading this book because I saw that they are making it into a movie starring Tessa Thompson (one of my favorite actresses who you may recognize from Westworld and Creed). I enjoyed the suspense and science in it, and love to see an almost entirely female cast in a sci-fi book. If you’re looking for explicit answers, you’ll need to read on in the series or come up with your own explanations.
I haven’t included clothing or food here as I’ve got dedicated posts on those coming up (am I doing Whole 30? MAYBE). I also placed a Glossier order so I’ll be doing a haul/review of my favorite products of theirs soon.

Sephora Play! April 2017 Box
Sephora Play! April 2017 Box
Hi Readers! Just got my Sephora Play! subscription box for this month of April and there’s a couple of interesting stuff in there, although they’re not totally impressive in my opinion. I think last month’s box was better since there were new and interesting products to try. This month’s box is themed “Step It Up”. Not sure what that really means, but probably to step up your beauty or skin…

makeup masterpost :-)
hello. it is i, p0stings who likes to feel fancy at tournaments!! you too can feel fancy at tournaments!!! smear some colors on your face!!
eyes: i usually do a natural eyeshadow Look with like...browns and then slap some good ol’ black eyeliner on & some mascara. I just use a bunch of old Clinique sample palettes for eyeshadow, but for cheaper I’ve heard good things about nyx eyeshadow (can be found at like target and walgreens) and morphe palettes (orderable online) and for high end anastasia modern renaissance (golds pinks warm browns) and too faced sweet peach (pinks warm browns)
my absoLUTE favorite eyeliner is Kat von D’s tattoo liner in trooper its pitch black felt tip goodness but another good one is sephora’s liquid waterproof one (its really waterproof too, i’ve sat through several DI rounds with this on)
ummm mascara i don’t know too much about because I don’t wear it everyday but I have a Makeup Forever sample that treats me pretty good but I hear too faced better than sex (scandalous i know) is really good for the ‘spensive stuff and that maybelline great lash wearable mascara is cheaper and is pretty good. I can’t vouch for either because i’ve never worn them but they got good reviews?
lips: oh boy oh boy my favorite part. cheap stuff: colourpop liquid lipsticks are pigmented and last a while. liquid is harder to apply, sure, but they last a lot longer than normal lipstick and you don’t have to reapply as much. i have a handful of regular revlon and rimmel lipsticks and they are not drying at all!! burt’s bees also makes like this chapstick tint stuff that is just like colored lip balm and that is good too. fancy more expensive: i could not tell you all the good things about Kat von D liquid lipsticks...they last me all tournament long through drinks and lunch and there’s a bunch o’ colors. NARS makes this awesome red lipstick that is literally perfect. such a power color. ugh. red lipstick is so good.
face: here’s where it gets fun because my face is really bad and depending on skin types and stuff everything gets weird? so i’d recommend if you are a beginner make up er go to sephora / ulta / other beauty store and ask someone to color match you? i use concealer and foundation from clinique but for cheap face stuff i think maybelline has a good dream cushion spongey liquid foundation and fit me matte foundation? idk about color selection though. high end: kat von d lock it concealer, NARS makes a good one too.
if you wanna step it up and look for contouring schtuff you can’t go wrong with an anastasia beverly hills glow kit / contour kit but that’s a lotta money so i contour with a cheap darker shade foundation and cheap white metallic eyeshadow so... you do you
Eyebrows: i almost forgot eyebrows how could i?? i use anastasia beverly hills brow wiz, it’s like a pencil but an alternative for that is just like any brown / blonde? eyeliner pencil, rimmel makes a like..cream eyebrow set that’s cheap, or you can use eyeshadow too (i have a really old new york colors one that works fine) you can also just get clear eyebrow gel (vaseline) and brush it on to shape them
this concludes this week’s episode of stuff to put on your makeup!! catch me later for how to put stuff on your face!!

Probably the beauty advent countdown of the past few years is back; the ELLE Beauty Advent Calendar. My review:
First up, I’m a huge fan of the exclusive design for this calendar by Bella Freud. The designer is known globally for her cheeky, yet chic, knitwear featuring similar designs to both the calendar packaging, the makeup bag & the candle.
On to the contents itself; there were so many products inside the calendar I was so very excited about. If you are, or you’re buying for, a beauty expert that knows their brands & loves luxe beauty then this calendar delivers on all points. Particular products I can’t wait to get stuck into are:
Chantecaille The Anti-Pollution Finishing Essence
Murad Perfecting Day Cream SPF 30
Shiseido Ultime Power Infusing Concentrate Serum
It was also brilliant to see firm favourites in the calendar from brands such as Nars, Dr Denis Gross & Philip Kingsley.
I know there is a lot of emphasis put on the amount of full size products in beauty advent calendars now. I personally love minis so I get to try more products & have them for travel. But if you are on the hunt for full size products in calendars then the ELLE Beauty Advent Calendar has 9. Not a bad number really, considering most of the minis are deluxe sample sizes.
The negatives:
There’s no escaping the fact that all beauty advent calendars are limited edition, which is of course understandable. But the problem being that if you want to get your hands on a calendar then you’ll have to be quick! I’ve left my post a little late this year about the calendar & I’m dreading putting it together & finding that it is already sold out. So if you’re in the market for one of the best beauty advent calendars out there: head HERE to pick yours up to avoid disappointment.

I can’t believe another month is gone! Where is this year going? I had a great month and used up a ton of products. I am killing the empty game this year, so I can’t wait to share what I used up this month! Make sure to let me know in the comments below what you used up this past month! P.S. I’m trying out a new layout for this post this month, so make sure you let me know what you think of this type of empties post please! 🙂
  hair.
+ Suave Rosemary + Mint Conditioner, 28 FL OZ ($3.94). I’ve used up a ton of these before. They’re really good, especially for the price. I definitely recommend them, and I’ll definitely repurchase. Plus, it smells so incredible! + vo5 Island Coconut Moisturizing Shampoo, 12.5 FL OZ ($5.91). My husband actually used this up. He liked it. He prefers slightly higher end shampoos, but he is trying to go through the small stash that we have of these leftover from our apartment days. I personally am not a fan, but I love the scent of this. + PINK Beach Hair But Better Wave Spray, 8 FL OZ ($14.50). This is actually no longer available, but it was a pretty decent wave spray. They had this as part of their most recent Semi-Annual sale for like, $5, and I seriously debated grabbing some more, but I couldn’t bring myself to do it. I didn’t LOVE this spray, but it worked for daily life. + American Wave Glint Texture & Shine Spray, 6.7 FL OZ ($30.00). I got this in a limited edition of some sort, and when I first tried it I absolutely hated it. But the more I used it, the more I loved it and now I’m obsessed. It gives some nice volume, and it does add a beautiful sheen to my hair. I definitely recommend. + Schwarzkopf GLISS Hair Repair Ultimate Repair Conditioner, 13.6 FL OZ ($5.47). I really like this conditioner, and I am loving that price. It works well, it makes my hair super smooth and I don’t notice any issues with my coloring since I do dye my hair. I’ll definitely be grabbing a few more bottles of this! + Renpure Advanced Tea Tree & Lemon Sage Shampoo, 3.4 FL OZ ($2.99). This was pretty good. I loved the scent, and it really did feel invigorating. It was great to use in the morning, and I would grab this again. + Renpure Advanced Tea Tree & Lemon Sage Conditioner, 3.4 FL OZ ($2.99). I didn’t love this as much as the shampoo. It was okay, but I wouldn’t go out of my way to hunt this down in stores. + HASK Orchid & White Truffle Moisture Rich Deep Conditioner, 1.75 FL OZ ($1.77). This made my hair feel so amazing. It smelled great, and there is a lot of product in this little sample sized packet. I love that you can buy these in one-time uses – it’s really convenient! + Garnier Whole Blends Honey Treasures Repairing Mask, 0.6 FL OZ ($0.32). There wasn’t really enough product in this sample for me to really test, so unfortunately I don’t really have an opinion since I had to mix this with another hair mask. + Christophe Robin Cleansing Volumizing Paste, 1.35 FL OZ ($8.58). This was kind of an odd-ball product to me. I don’t quite get the point, but my hair felt incredible after using this. It was similar to a scalp scrub, I suppose. I’d definitely buy the full size. + Redken Extreme Shampoo, 1.7 FL OZ ($5.99). This was a nice basic shampoo, but didn’t do anything crazy to my hair. I think it would be really good for low matience hair people. + Kenra Luxe One Leave-In, 1 FL OZ ($5.00). This little guy worked really well. I have another sample of this that I will happily use. This made my hair feel very lush and soft. I would definitely buy this in the full size. + Alterna Caviar CC Cream Leave-In Hair Perfecter, 0.85 FL OZ ($8.84). This is really good. I’ve gone through so many of these travel size tubes. This is always what I use in between trying new leave in treatments. This is always my go-to!
body.
+ Bath & Body Works French Lavender & Honey Shower Gel, 10 FL OZ ($12.50). Love this! I normally love Bath & Body Works shower gels, but this scent is one of my all time favorites. It’s so relaxing and luxurious. I will always repurchase. + Fortune Cookie Soap Time To Shine Shimmer Body Wash, 7 OZ ($10.99). This was a cute concept. It’s shaped like a wine bottle and was available as part of their New Year’s collection. It smelled really nice, but it had a lot of shimmer. I don’t really have much of a want for a shimmer body wash, so I’d pass on this. + David Beckham Homme Shower Gel, 6.7 FL OZ ($24.99). I got this as part of a cologne set that I got for Kylor (and he was the one primarily using this). I wouldn’t really be down for paying the price per bottle, but if you’re interested in paying for it, I will say it smells INCREDIBLE. I loved when he was using this, but I’m also a fan of the matching cologne. + Gillette Satin Care Ultra Sensitive Shave Gel, 7 OZ ($1.99). This was really nice. I found it to be pretty soothing. I’ll definitely use this again – it’s great for a basic shave gel that doesn’t cause irritation. + Sol de Janeiro Brazilian Bum Bum Cream, 0.84 FL OZ ($4.66). This is quickly becoming a cult classic product. I’ll admit, I think it smells delicious. I get why everyone thinks it smells so great, but (hold your pitchforks), I don’t get why everyone is so obsessed with it. It’s just like a normal lotion to me, so I wouldn’t go searching for the full size.
skincare.
+ Beauty 360 Premium Cotton Rounds, 80 CT ($3.79). These were pretty good. I didn’t find them to shed too much, and I really liked the quilted side for removing my eye makeup. I would get these again. Actually I have, this is like my 24th pack of these! + Simple Cleansing Facial Wipes, 7 CT ($4.99). I’m pretty sure this price is wrong, but it’s all I can find online? These are good, but this pack dried out very quickly. I’ve gotten the full size packs and didn’t have any issues, so I’d purchase the full size but I did find it weird that I had an issue with this travel size pack. + MAC Prep + Prime FIX+ , 3.4 FL OZ ($26.00). This is definitely not my first bottle of this. I love it, it works great at so many different things. I am trying out a few cheaper alternatives of this right now, but I’ll probably switch back to this once those are empty because OG is OG! + The Body Shop Smoky Poppy Shower Gel, 8.4 FL OZ ($10.00). This scent is no longer available :(. I actually got this on clearance from TJ Maxx. I loved the scent of it, very musky, while still having a sweeter side to it. My husband really enjoyed this too. + eb5 Anti-Aging Toner, 0.75 FL OZ ($1.24). I really did like this. This is the first product from this brand that I’ve used, and I was pleasantly surprised by how much I liked it. I would buy the full size. + Luzern La Defense Urban Protect Daily Moisturizer, 0.33 FL OZ ($16.50). This was a really thick moisturizer. It was sooo amazing though. My skin felt so damn good after using this. I definitely see why it has such a high price tag. + Clinique Clarifying Lotion 3, 1 FL OZ ($2.38). This has always been one of my go-to skincare products. I have full size bottles of this, and I’ll always repurchase. This is definitely a cult classic for a reason! + Clinique Liquid Facial Soap Mild, 1 FL OZ ($2.76). This is another cult classic. So great for sensitive skin. This makes my skin feel so clean and refreshed. It’s great for those really long, stressful days. + Purlisse Blue Lotus 4-in-1 Eye Adore Serum, 0.24 FL OZ ($27.84). This seriously made my undereyes feel and look so amazing. I am really surprised at the estimated value cost of this tiny size, but I might be willing to pay retail for the full size because it really did make my eyes feel incredible! + Caudalie Make-Up Removing Cleansing Oil, 1 FL OZ ($8.28). I love cleansing oils and balms. They always work so well to remove my makeup, and this is no exception. This was interesting since it is an oil and I’ve always hated cleansing oils before trying this one. This totally changed my mind though. Bring on the cleansing oils!
masks.
+ Grace & Stella Anti-Wrinkle and Energizing Eye Mask ($2.00). + Esfolio Pearl Essence Mask Sheet ($2.20). + It’s Skin Blueberry Vitality & Moisture Sheet Mask ($1.99). + Annie’s Way Ginkgo + Seaweed Anti-Wrinkle Eye Mask ($2.99). + Mizon Enjoy Vital-Up Time Anti Wrinkle Mask ($3.50). + Urban Dollkiss Elephant Nose Pack ($5.99). + Etude House Collagen Eye Patch ($1.96). + no:hj Modeling Mask Serum ($4.00). + Etude House Black Charcoal Chin Pack ($2.90). + Her Story Aqua Mask Sheet ($4.00). + Dr. Brandt Shake & Shot Shaking Rubber Hydro Shot ($12.00) + Mario Badescu Enzyme Revitalizing Mask, 0.5 OZ ($5.00) + GlamGlow InstaMud 60-Second Pore-Refining Treatment, 0.24 OZ ($5.92)
makeup.
+ Urban Decay Troublemaker Mascara, 0.10 OZ ($11.00). I only got to use this a couple of times before it dried out. I did really like the mascara, but the fact that the travel size dried out so quickly really concerns me about the full size + Manna Kadar Flutter Mascara Jet Black ($29.00). This was an okay mascara. I don’t think that I would pay $30 for it, but it was pretty decent. This did dry out pretty quick too, though. Shame. + Urban Decay 24/7 Glide On Eye Pencil in Perversion ($21.00). This line is my holy grail eye liners. This eye liner ended up falling out of the pencil. Ugh. I’ll still repurchase though. A must-have!
I used up $370.72 worth of products this month! I’ve used up $2,996.04 worth of products so far this year!
What did you use up this month? What do you think of this layout for future empties posts?

What I Wore Wednesday, Vol. 6: Daytime Smoky Eyeshadow for Hooded Eyes
Another day, another smoky eye! — and guuuurl, I wouldn’t have it any other way. 🙂 I did a variation, though. This one’s a little different than my usual smoky eye. I took a different path to get to my smoky place.
Smoking it out with cream shadows
I was inspired by this smoky eyeshadow look for hooded eyes on Monika Blunder’s channel.
I love her! She does lots of wearable looks. In this tutorial, she uses cream shadows to build up the smoke on her lids and lower lash lines. Normally, I would have just used powder eyeshadows, so this was a new thing for me.
I blended Clinique Chubby Stick in Fuller Fudge on my lids and MAC Pro Longwear Waterproof Colour Stick in Bitter Clove in the outer corners with a MAC 217 (for haziness), and I smudged Clinique Curvaceous Coal along my lower lash lines with a pointy smudge brush.
The cream shadow sticks are SO speedy and easy to control, BTW. I’m definitely going to use these three again.
MAC Feline Kohl Power Pencil, MEOW!
Can we just talk about this black liner for a second?

NEW BLOG POST LIVE NOW! “PRODUCTS I 🖤 AND BELIEVE IN : The Body Shop's 100% Vegan Masks 🍚🌿” Link in bio! 👆🏼 ➖➖➖➖➖➖➖➖➖➖➖➖➖➖➖➖ You probably know I love an invigorating and depuffing AM eye gel to go with my morning coffee. Last week, I took the Malin + Goetz Revitalizing Eye Gel out each morning for a spin. This week, I’m test-driving the All About Eyes depuffing eye massage from my friends at Clinique. It’s a super light serum that feels lighter than water. As with nearly all Clinique products, it’s very well formulated. Among the top ten ingredients (the most important in any formula!) — Glycerin, Caffeine, Panthenol, Grape Seed Extract, and Rosemary Extract. All great for the eye area, for sure. But what makes this under-eye product truly unique is the cooling, massaging applicator. No joke, it feels like an ice cube at 5:30 am (yes, I’m up at 5:30 am!). I’ve tried at least a half dozen of these massagers and to be honest, I usually hate them. They don’t hurt, but they’re uncomfortable around my eyes. The Clinique All About Eyes Serum depuffing eye massage component actually isn’t irritating or uncomfortable at all — which means I’m more likely to continue to use it! I also love the long slender tubing; it holds like a pencil. And perhaps that’s the point! This one gets ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ from 🖤 SKINCARMA! ✅@clinique All About Eyes Serum depuffing eye massage ➖➖➖➖➖➖➖➖➖➖➖➖➖➖➖➖ Check the Skincarma blog for smart product reviews and ingredient knowledge.
