My Favorite Fashionable Movies and TV Shows
My All-Time Favorite Fashionable Movies and TV Shows! Just in time to start a Netflix-binge session!
There’s something to be said for a movie or television show that features a great wardrobe. Costume designers and stylists are the *often* unsung heroes of the industry, and I thought it was about time we gave them a spotlight!
Below, you’ll find the minds behind the wardrobes for some of my all-time favorites.

In my last post I briefly described this dress I bought on the Wish App.
It’s been photographed in a beautiful setting, on one of my favorite models (Rocky Barnes), and it looks like it has gorgeous movement. Based off these photos I purchased this dress in hopes of having a killer dress for this weekly salsa dancing class I enjoy attending.
When it had arrived, I was a tad disappointed. The fabric was thin, but felt satiny on the outside. That cute red tie at the waist? Not so cute (I ended up tucking it back inside the dress, and adding a chunky, brown leather belt instead). And the buttons: teeny, tiny loops, and odd sized gaps around the waist.
But as Tim Gun would say, I was determined to “Make it work!”
While I ended up not attending salsa, I did receive many compliments on the dress while doing a bit of shopping with my mom before we headed to dinner to celebrate a friend’s birthday (Happy belated birthday, Sue!)
I paired this dress with black, strappy Steve Madden sandals and red, beaded earrings.
I left my hair natural and down, and my makeup routine was a variation of my day-to-day look, inspired by this video of Emily Ratajkowski. I used one of my newest eyeshadow palettes: The Nubian by Juvia’s, which I purchased from Ulta.
This palette is beautiful, and the colors blend really well. There isn’t much transfer, but the colors appeared a bit lighter on my skin tone than in the palette. That by no means turned me away from this palette, LOL!
After prepping my face with moisturizer and primer, I tried a new technique – doing your eyes first. In every video I’ve watched where someone does this, they say it allows easier clean up under the eye (i.e., removing fallout) without disturbing the rest of the face.
I used color ‘1’ as my base, applying in a windshield wiping/sweeping motion from lash line to underneath my eyebrow. Color ‘2’ was my lid color, applied in the same fashion, with the same blending brush. (I keep a paper towel near by to wipe off the brush in between colors). Color ‘3’ was used to add depth, by applying in the crease and along the outer third of the lash line. Color ‘4’ was used to highlight my tear duct, using a flat and tapered detailing brush.
I used my favorite black, felt-tip eyeliner, and the Two Faced Better Than Sex Waterproof mascara. I lined my lips with the Urban Decay 24/7 Glide-On Lip Pencil in color ‘Uptight’, and topped it with the Bite Beauty Amuse Bouche Lipstick in color ‘Chai’.
At Cava Restaurant Southington, CT
It was a great Friday evening, and a surprisingly wonderful dress! Unfortunately, due to the lightness of the fabric, it will now need to be boxed up until the return of spring.
What do you think of this dress? I’m going to give it the #WATS seal of approval! I’m seriously looking forward to my next chance to wear this.
Have a wonderful rest of your day or night, my dears, and remember to SLAY!

You know that old saying about doing the same things over and over again, but you expect different results? At this point, you’d think I’d have learned my online-shopping lesson and just give it a rest.
But, after hearing the praises from one of my friends, I downloaded the Wish App. I then proceeded to order $65 worth of items, before turning around about a week later and dropping another $25.
Trust me, I’m already slapping myself.
My first order consisted of a complementary eyeshadow palette, a dress that seemed perfect for salsa class, a kimono, a halter top, and a chunky sweater.
The first two items to arrive were the kimono and the salsa dress.
This dress looks super cute in the photos, right? It’s only slightly less cute in person, and I think that’s because it’s made from a rather cheap feeling material. But, I haven’t worn it yet, so I feel a bit unfair trying to pass judgement.
The kimono was only worn once before the seasons changed, paired with solid black pants and a tank top. I liked the kimono, but it’s a kimono; I didn’t have high expectations for it in the first place. And now that New England autumn has settled in, this kimono is about to go into storage until the return of sunshine.
The next two packages to arrive were the cable knit sweater and eyeshadow palette.
When I tell you I’ve worn this sweater three times already, I’m not even kidding. It’s lightweight, making it a great layering piece for those more-than-one-climate-in-a-day kinds of day. It’s slightly cropped, allowing it to be paired with multiple bottoms, and, its a neutral color, which makes it super versatile.
I have yet to do my makeup with this palette, but, when I swatched the colors they felt almost like satin. This leads me to believe they’ll blend well, and let’s face it, any eyeshadow that can be blended out is a good eyeshadow.
My next order contained a bohemian-stye maxi dress and thigh high socks.
This dress I’ve worn to work, paired with tights and suede booties. It’s lightweight, partially because it may be cheap fabric, but it doesn’t look like cheap fabric! And quite frankly, that’s all that really matters to me! The only downside to this dress is the loops for the buttons; they’re very small and require a bit of work. As I continue to pack up my spring/summer wardrobe, I have yet to decide whether this dress will need to hibernate.
The socks have also arrived, but I haven’t figured out where to wear them yet. Again, once they’ve been worn, they’ll be reviewed!

As of Tuesday, Oct. 2, this crop top (arguably the piece I was most looking forward to) has yet to arrive. Should it ever arrive, it will have to wait for the return of spring before it can leave the house. But, Wish App has sent me multiple messages asking if I’ve received this package, and assuring me that they’re working to rectify the situation.
All in all, would I recommend the Wish App?
Yes and No. Yes, because online shopping is addictive, and being able to do so affordably is a novel concept in this day and age. No, because it takes about a month for each item to arrive. I would even say that the items aren’t the best quality, but I’ve only ordered clothes. I have been contemplating placing another, non-clothing, order, and I’ll obviously keep you updated if I do!
Make sure to keep tuned for individual reviews of some of these pieces! If there’s a piece you’re particularly interested in hearing about, let me know in the comments below! And, remember to SLAY my loves!
A little Hump Day inspiration! Your comments and interaction is always appreciated, so please like/comment/share this post to all of your friends! #RememberToSLAY You know that old saying about doing the same things over and over again, but you expect different results?

I wanted to take a moment to thank all of the truly kindhearted and sweet people who took a moment to wish me a happy birthday (it was Tuesday, Sept. 4). I really appreciated it!
