Alex Wild got me interested in attaphila fungicola with this first super cute photo of the myrmecophilous roaches that live with leaf cutter (fungi farming) ants.

I think their habit of harmlessly hitching rides on ants could inspire a line of adorable felt pillboxes. Can you see it?

American socialite Babe Paley, famous as the leader of New York High Society in the 40’s - 50’s
Truman Capote, her personal friend, once said that “Paley’s only imperfection was that she was perfect”.
She was a style icon, worked as a fashion editor for Vogue Magazine. Babe was named to the best-dressed list in 1945 and 1946.
In this photo by Horst. P. Horst, Paley is wearing a beautiful Traina-Norwell outfit that served as an inspiration for Prada 2008/2009 collection.
I Love Her!

Started a new pattern
Tumblr media
From the 80s. I love the post-stitch detaliing on the edges and the shoulders. The pattern refers to the post stitches as "raised stitches" which I've seen in vintage patterns before.
It's either a UK or Australian pattern. It calls for Coat & Clark's Red Heart 4-ply Knit and Crochet Yarn, which was only available in those markets. It's a worsted weight (Size 4). It's a bit confusing because "4-ply" can also mean fingering weight (Size 1), but this is worked on a J-hook, and the gauge matches the worsted weight I'm using (Knitpicks VIvidie; 100% Cotton).
The last thing to note is that the stitch names are a little confusing. The pattern says single crochet and means the US version (the UK version usually means a US slip stitch), and then the pattern says the post stitches are trebles, which is the UK name for the US double crochet. I've confirmed it's US double crochets, which I guessed at based on how the pattern builds and then confirmed by starting the project.
Anyway, I think it's a very nice little jacket that has a little pop of visual interest, and I've uploaded the pattern here if anyone wants to grab it. 100% free.
