I said I'm not interested in AU but this is what popped into my head… HSR retro AU. No more space technology.
Basically you are a college student 🙈🙈🙈 Depending on whether you are an extrovert or an introvert, you may go shopping and play with your friends during the holidays, have a party, or stay comfortably at home listening to music with MP3 and cassette tapes, or reading novels on the subway.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
You use a bulky computer to click on the Windows XP system, and spend hours downloading music and opening chat software. Your MSN friends list is as follows:
Jing Yuan:
Tumblr media
Your mysterious neighbor is much older than you. You have never understood what the Xianzhou Alliance is. It is said that he kept a lion named Mimi in the yard, but every time you passed by, you thought it was just a cute cat. He'll stuff you with sweets and prepare you milk and afternoon tea, giving you advice. Well, he can also write ancient poetry. You shamelessly gave this old man your homework.
(You lie on his lap and sleep, breathing quietly.)
Aventurine & Ratio:
Tumblr media Tumblr media
These two live together, are also your neighbors, professors, friends... You are not sure what their relationship is, but they quarrel every day. Aventurine is a high-level executive in IPC. Every time you visit a department store, you will whisper in your heart that this is also an IPC. He takes the bill in your mailbox every month and pays it off, very weird. His car is the most talked about in the community.
Ratio is your college professor...he is very strict about grades and academic performance. You cursed him one time and he heard you and he took you back to the office for an OTK spanking...unfortunately, it was legal. You have since become his target in class...
Sunday & Robin:
Tumblr media Tumblr media
They still have halos and wings, share the same MSN account, and even the same pager. They have no privacy from each other. They are well-known brothers and sisters of the Xipe Church. They are very popular and eye-catching, attracting people's attention wherever they go. So if you are an introvert, the difference is even more pronounced haha. But both of them will approach you, in the name of kindness, with a look of concern on their face. Robin picks out clothes for you and lends you homework to copy. In return, you agree to go to church on the weekend… and help her sell cookies at the church charity sale.
Sunday provides insight into your life and schedule in the name of "for your own good". You don't know why you wrote your schedule in a notebook for him… He shows up in front of your house and listens to music with you (using the same MP3 player). You share with him a few things you learned in the sex education class, and he says that he has signed the commitment card (you: ? what is this). Promise to remain chaste until marriage… That card has an inexplicable printed pattern, with a photo of a couple holding hands, leaving you speechless. But you don’t know why you signed this commitment card under his supervision…
Dan Heng:
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
Your nerdy college classmate, with dragon horns (don't ask me why). He reminds you of class and exam times and lends you notes, leaving you with the last piece of cake. You always tease him until he blushes and gets angry.
Dan Feng:
Dan Heng's brother. He seems to be very traditional. You haven't seen him much and you only added him as an MSN friend.
Blade:
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
The mysterious old man. He seems to have a grudge against Dan Feng and Dan Heng. One time you were playing cards with Yanqing and Dan Heng. He suddenly broke into the yard, said something incomprehensible and then started fighting with Dan Feng. This scared you to death. Kafka appeared to stop him. You added Kafka friends to avoid being attacked by Blade.
Tumblr media
Kafka:
The mysterious woman who can control Blade. You don't know who she is, but she seems to know you well and be gentle to you.
Silver Wolf:
Your college classmate has designed several computer games and won many awards at a young age, and occasionally plays cards with you. For some reason, she is very close to Blade and Kafka.

The BTK killer probably would have gotten away with it if he hadn't insisted on sending out communications, though there's also a chance that forensic genetic genealogy would have led to him eventually, as it did with Golden State Killer.
He sent a message asking whether they could track him if he sent in a floppy disk, and they said "no". (Specifically, he had prearranged that they put an ad in the paper with the words "Rex, it will be OK," if the answer was no.)
The floppy that he sent in had a single file, "TestA.rtf", which had no identifying metadata, but when the disk was run through EnCase, a digital investigation software, it showed that there was another file which had been "deleted". It was still present on the disk because a floppy drive doesn't (by default) write over deleted files, it just unallocated the space. That file was an agenda for a meeting at a church, and the metadata said the user who saved it was "Dennis", so they Googled the church name, found that the church president was Dennis Rader, drove by his house and saw the same car they already had on grainy video, tested crime scene DNA against his daughter's medical records, and that was basically it. The time from him sending the floppy to getting arrested was ten days.
So the police lied to him. It helped them to catch him, but this is now enshrined in serial killer lore, and I have to imagine that any aspiring serial killer like BTK will have read this account. I wonder if there was ever any consideration of the balance here. I've read some accounts that they "tricked" him, but I don't think that this rises to the level of trick, it was just a lie, albeit one that he set himself up for.
Part of the strategy with BTK was to stroke his considerable ego, to say that he was interesting, to get him to communicate more, hoping that he would slip up. This, too, is part of serial killer lore, and understanding of how serial killers work and how the police will attempt to catch them.
But as time stretches into the future, it seems like these tactics can only work once if the criminals in question are even remotely attempting to evade capture. Doesn't the "meta" evolve? The police will simply lie to you, so you can't trust any information from them. Do the police think this understanding is a net good? I kind of think it's not, especially since it seems like it torpedoes the other strategy of rapport and trust building.
I don't think they were wrong to lie, necessarily, but it does seem like a trick that you can't use too many times, at least not on those who are doing even a smidgen of research.

Ok I've had a very random train of thoughts and now wanna compile it into post.
Some MM characters computer-related (???) headcanons lol
Riley:
Has above average knowledge of Excel/Google sheets due to studying finance, but after four years with no practise forgot most of it.
The "Sooon, I have a problem" person in their family. Actually, surprisingly good and patient at explaining computer stuff to older people.
Has a higher responsibility of doing taxes (finance, after all). Even he never fails to do them right, Ed always double checks. Sometimes they get into argument, where inevitably Riley proves he is right but his father would never admit it.
Warren, Leeza, Ooker and other teens:
Also nothing outstanding in terms of skills, except few of them have interest in IT.
They have bunch of small local Discord servers and one big main server with some very stupid name.
Few times Bev tried to bring up importance of parental control over this "new and rapidly growing young community", but thanks God no one took her concerns seriously
Leeza moderates it and her moder role called "Mayor-mini". Like father like daughter.
All teens local jokes and memes were bourn/spread though that server.
Bev:
Rumors says she sacrificed her humanity to obtain such powers with Microsoft software package.
Can build up Access database from scratch, using basic SQL commands, assemble primitive, but surprisingly sufficient interface to it and synchronize it with Excel in span of one day or less.
In her laptop there're every pupil's personal file, countless Excel tables, several automatised document accounts, Google calendar with precisely planned schedule for next several months (for school, church, island and personal matters) and probably Pentagon files.
Probably can find all Pi numbers with Excel formulas.
Never lets anyone to her laptop.
Spends her free time at different forums, mostly gardening-related.
Wade:
Made a very fucking poor decision to let Bev do all the legwork with digital document accounting.
Now has no idea how some of things even work, so just goes with a flow and does what Bev tells.
No wander she got away with embezzlement.
Knows about kid's server. Very proud of Leeza for managing it :)
Because of that, he knows one or two memes from there, but keeps them in secret.
Has hobby of fixing office equipment. Does it with Sturge in spare time due to Dupuytren's contracture not letting him operate his hand fully.
Sarah:
There's no good medical technicians on island, so when something goes wrong with equipment electronics - tries to fix it herself to best of her ability.
Always monitors electronic e-shops for spare details or equipment. Grows more and more addicted to it.
Frequently updates her selection of sites with useful medical information, because Erin asked her for help guiding teens though puberty. For that receives glances from Bev, but doesn't give a shit.
Has reputation of cool aunt among kids, so she was one and only adult invited to main Discord server. Didn't accept it (doesn't even have Discord acc), but still grateful for trust.
Plays solitaire a lot.
John:
Back when he was playing Paul, Bev asked him to do something with Excel. In conclusion, poor bastard had to learn basic computer skills and Excel in span of several days. Now he is traumatized for rest of his life.
Will do all the work manually just to not touch laptop again.
Upsets very easly when does something wrong.
Doesn't own laptop. Don't give that man laptop, he will cry.
By his own will uses it only to watch baseball. Always asks someone to help with that.

(3rd Person POV)(AN: The ages I'm listing are the newly adjusted ages that took me like 65 years to sit and calculate, so disregard any old ages that you might have in mind for the characters and just have these ones in mind)
Tumblr media
This year for Harvestfest, all of Claire and Ryan's kids came back into Newcrest to celebrate at their childhood home. Since Eric and Valentina have the most children (and Valentina is the oldest daughter), they got to stay in at the house with their parents and single siblings whilst the rest got their accomodation in town. It was great having almost all of the extended family in Newcrest because it meant having their relatives essentially take over the town.
Tumblr media
Names & Ages: Carter 31, Valentina 29, Alan 28, Celeste 27, Kristyn 25, Sabrina 25, Jarrod 21, Zachary 19, Conner 17, Jarrett 17
(AN: With all of them lined up like this, I've never really noticed that the kids are an even split of redheads and blondes. Genetics are wild innit)
This is this year's siblings portrait. Between these 10 kids there are 13 (almost 14) grandchildren that have been born, and hopefully many more to come as the years go on. Having all the kids be home means that the house is full of hymns, with everyone singing worship music to glorify the lord and worship him together. All 6 married children live away from home, so getting to see them all together is wonderful for the 4 kids living at home. Celeste, the oldest and only girl still living at home is relishing her single season of life. She spends her time working as a nanny for various church members, when she's not doing that she's out of town visiting her siblings or volunteering her time with different ministries. The Lord hasn't brought anyone special into her life yet, but she's content with her gift of singleness. Zachary is the next oldest boy at home and he's currently working full time with a local contracting company run by a man that attends Newcrest Baptist as well, he's got someone that might end up being special but for now they're just friends. Conner and Jarrett, the youngest 2, are almost done with highschool and are thinking of what they'd like to do. Both have ideas of going to a bible college to study either software design (for conner) and accounting (for jarrett), they're hoping to study online or to go attend colleges neat family that they can stay with.
Tumblr media
These are the 6 married siblings and their spouses:
Carter (31) and Madelynn (28) live in Willowcreek with their 3 children: Lester (7), Fitzwilliam (1), and their newest addition baby Alana. Carter continues to work for the Willowcreek Police Department whilst Madelynn remains at home to homeschool Lester and care for the home and children.
Valentina (29) and Eric (31) live in Brindleton Bay with their 6 children: Aria (8), Ansel (6), Abbott (2) & Asher (2), and their newest additions Abigail and Adele. Eric continues his work in freelance software engineering work whilst Valentina focuses her energy on homeschooling the kids and taking care of the house and the blooming garden they've developed. When she's not busy doing that she's working on her music and teaching music classes here and there. In the past year they've gotten chickens and have been working with the children on learning how to care for animals, with talks of a dairy cow in the future.
Alan (28) and Tessa (21) live in San Myshuno with their 2 (almost 3) children: Charity (2) and Edgar (1). Alan continues his work for Christian Critics Association whilst Tessa stays at home with the children, most recently preparing to welcome their newest blessing to the family. (AN: She had the baby like a day after Harvestfest, it was a little girl named Faith. With Tessa's scheduling she should be pregnant again by the new year 🥴)
Kristyn (25) and Gregory (28) live in Oasis Springs with their daughter Kayla (2). Gregory continues his work for his father's company whilst Kristyn stays home with little Kayla. They chose Harvestfest to announce that they're expecting another little one!
Sabrina (25) and Tucker (26) live in Brindleton Bay with their son Campbell (6 months). They opted to not join his family on their music tour to stay home and bond with the baby, but did join for a few tour dates that were close enough to home that they could travel.
Jarrod (21) and Madison (19) live in Evergreen Harbour with their newborn son Myles. Myles joined the family just a few weeks before Harvestfest, so he was the youngest family member at the festivities (until Tessa's baby was born). Jarrod works for a construction company with a few other men from their new church, and they're excited to settle in nicely as a family of 3.

Shiny Happy People Thoughts: Episode 4
TW: The Duggar Family and their crimes
- All gang here we go again
- To recap, we left off on the discovery of Josh Duggar's business hard drive with CSAM on it and the affects of anti-sex and strict enforcement of hierarchies
- The episode starts with the phone call about the investigation and the discovery of CSAM linked to Josh Duggar's business IP address
- This episode is known for being the hardest to get through so be warned if you decide to also watch
- They use the term "child pornography" but I will be using the terms CSAM or child sexual abuse material
- Jen of Fundie Fridays described the Snark community's look into the investigation
- Fucking Covenant Eyes
- I think I talked about it before, but it's an anti-pornography and accountability software program where your porn use is sent to a trusted program partner
- There's a lot of talk about having to be happy at all times, which was also enforced in my households. My dad never enforce it, but other family members would insist on me smiling or they'd make me smile (meant as a threat)
- Theres also clips of Josh and Anna's courtship and how they weren't even allowed to kiss before marriage
- Bobye, Jill, and all of the other victims are incredibly brave for speaking up both during the trial and now in this docuseries
- Jim Bob ran for senate in Arkansas during said trial, which is fucking wild. I knew he did, but I didn't realize it was during the trial. They genuinely believe the issue is Josh was caught and arrested rather than the fact that Josh did these horrible crimes
- There's a firm belief in individualism and handling issues at home so they don't have to acknowledge the greater patterns of abuse in these circles else they make their christianity look bad
- It explains the "Culture War" and what's essentially meant to be a new version of the crusade. Even in my small town black churches we sang song after song about being soldiers in the army of Christ and being willing to die for him
- The greater "Culture War" is for white, cishet evangelicals. My family might follow the exact same principles, but they would never be accepted by these groups in the same way because we're black
- A lot of black people hold the fear though that if they stop following these groups/mindsets, their children will be the next victims, rather than the black kid that got overlooked. There's no positive outcome, just a fear of the worst negative
- This is why there's been an attack on education as a whole, especially in places like Florida. They started with homeschooling, grew up and graduated, then became politicians and leaders and lawyers that could make public school just like their homeschooling or gut it so much that anyone not in these groups or people that can't homeschool their kids lose significant power and educational opportunities
- I was never homeschooled, but I was told by my churches that school will teach us things like evolution that we should ignore. The pastor and his wife at one church homeschooled their kids and advocated for it
- They are specifically referring to white, homeschooled, IBLP-trained evangelicals but this shit influenced the entire christian culture of the bible belt in the US
- There's a reason these people are gun-carrying, anti-choice conservatives and why they're making up lies and attacking schools for being "leftist indoctrination camps"
- Its all a fear tactic. I even got this talk when I was in high school and planning for college. We were told to keep close contact with the church and to not even join other christian groups your parents don't know in case they teach the "corrupted" versions of christianity
- Its Madison Cawthorn. It's Matt Walsh. It's the current Supreme Court. It's Donald Trump. It's all of these people that plan to take away autonomy from people so they can enforce this christian hierarchy throughout the world
- I'm at the Paul and Morgan part of the docuseries. Their interview was about their marriage and the role of the wife. They say it's a choice to submit to their husbands, though they feel like christian women always should
- The editing was incredible in this part. It goes from them talking about the role of the wife and being a light in the world to the jump cut of Morgan screaming about how it's impossible to "be a they/them"
- This part is what is making Paul and Morgan pitch a fit because they feel like it made christianity look bad, but all they did was edit in their own words from their YouTube channel
- "This is the Joshua Generation" gave me chills
- Its Girl Defined and the Rodrigues family and tiktok influencers and so on and so forth and all of them are white evangelicals who are trying to enforce this strict hierarchy and claiming it's the only way to save people
- Its why people say be careful when looking into cottagecore and tradcore and the "soft life" movement because a lot of it is ran by evangelicals trying to make strict hierarchies look trendy
- Its incredible to be a stay at home mom and traditional housewife, but only if it's your choice. All of the insistence that feminism is "destroying motherhood" and whatnot is all a ploy to take more women's autonomy. It's why feminism advocates for things like maternal leave, universal basic income with benefits for parents and children, universal daycare, universal healthcare especially for birthing parents. All of it should be a choice you can make for yourself
- The insistence on a family of a Working Father, a Housewife, and 2 or 20 kids was spread by a cult leader who never even had a wife or kids. Gothard sexually abused multiple minors during his time as an IBLP leader
- Josh Duggar was of course found guilty.
- It hurts knowing that his victims were expected to forgive him and let him back into their lives
- A lot of the family and friends are completely shut out of the picture now for advocating for Josh's arrest
- Amy Duggar reading from IBLP hurt, especially with the cut to Anna Duggar, Josh's wife
- They talk about why she still advocates for him and stays with him. She doesn't have a way to leave since this is all she was raised for. Find a nice, godly man and have his babies. No proper education. No source of stable income for herself. No privacy
- That goes double for her as the wife of a well-known person. She will never get privacy because she only sees herself as property of god, Josh, and the TV contracts Josh signed for her and unless she gets serious therapy and a safe, long term environment where someone takes care of her, thats all she'll ever see herself as
- My therapist pointed out to me today that whenever I burp, I completely change as a person for a split second. Despite all the work I've done and my transition as a transmasculine person, I still attempt to hide my burps, cover my mouth, completely straighten up, say excuse me very articulately, and even raise the pitch of my voice
- I know that seems like a weird tangent but it's an example of how even the smallest of things gets trained into you. Burping wasn't feminine so I got called a pig and a man in an insulting way when I burped loudly enough to be heard. I still burp in that polite way that makes me nauseous so I won't be heard unless I'm completely alone
- You can't just leave these cults. It comes with you. It stays with you even in these little habits and I was lucky enough to get the chillest parent of the family. Anna cannot and will not leave unless she is forced, and even then she will still be stuck. She won't suddenly have 12-13 years of education. She won't have the skills to get a good paying job in the current economic landscape. She won't have people to save her. This is what cults do. This is what they want. They want her to be helpless because it's a message: Next time, don't let him get caught
- "My only hope was to cling to my faith."
- That's all she has. It's all that belonged to her. Everything else was her father's or her husband's
- Tia Levings describing the situation of getting her kids and leaving the husband that was going to get his gun was honestly the hardest story to hear
- I never experienced abuse like that, but I remember hearing over and over "well why wasn't she under her father/husband's watch" "why didn't she just leave?" "Why didn't she just trust in god?" and have this fear set in me of what if I never left? Is this where I would've been?
- Around my teen years I got very uncomfortable around most couples in my family. The husband would joke about wives submitting and the wives would snap back about how it's a choice they could take away. The husband retorts with a bible verse about how they shouldn't. They laugh it off and the tension sits in the air. They seem to hate each other, but they made a promise to god.....
- The lawsuit against IBLP and Bill Gothard and it being dropped because of the statute of limitations leaves such a helpless feeling, but I hope this documentary helps at least a bit
- "His eyes were open"
- "It was just a man the whole time."
- Brook and Emily's stories really hit. There's a sudden realization that these people are not gods. They are people that wanted power and they got it. They abused and crushed people, not because they are powerful gods of knowledge, but because they wanted to abuse
- WAS
- "I ended up in jail anyways."
- That's how it goes. I felt the need to lash out when I first got out. I didn't do well with my therapist at the time. She was a practicing christian recommend by my doctor who used to go to our church and also treated all of my family with insurance she took. She thought my family was a lil strict but couldn't quite believe me when I said it was so much more than that
- I did lash out, mostly towards myself. I'm not going to talk about my self harm in detail here. Lara talks about lashing out via shoplifting. I will say this is normal. If you feel like you need to do a 180, I won't say do anything and everything, but you might have to. I am a firm believer in harm reduction over flat out denial at all times. Sometimes it all just needs to get out. Sometimes you need to regain a sense of control
- I didn't realize until I started seeing my current therapist that I realized what I was raised in. I made jokes about my family being a cult before then, but it never actually hit until I said "Oh. I never had a childhood, did I?" and teared up for the first time in his office
- I honestly couldn't say the stuff about deconstruction better myself. It's exhausting but so so freeing. A lot of the people in the docuseries used instagram and tiktok. I use tumblr as my platform of choice.
- I honestly have to thank the religious trauma tumblr tag for getting me to where I am today. If you look at my main blog, you can even see that my first few posts are scattered with bible verses if I didn't already delete them. I hope my blog helps someone else the same way that tag helped me
- I get a lil personal here sometimes and probably should save more of it for my therapist, but I think it's helpful sometimes. I think he'd agree. My therapist knows about this blog and thinks it's good
- I've heard about Jinger's book but never read it so I can't say anything about it. I also haven't seen any of the casts' tiktok pages so I can't say anything about them either. I might look later but this episode was a lot so Ill leave it for now
- I figured Bill Gothard would decline further comments. He denied everything and will most likely never see a single punishment. It's how these things are built
- I think the final statement from Jim Bob and Michelle help really seal just how terrible both of them are. They rather side with their child who abused than the victims that spoke out because it makes them look bad that all of this got out
- Final thoughts? Great series. Very therapeutic. Very validating.
- Its the small stuff that gets you. Hair needs to frame your face and honor your father. Be a soldier for Christ. Be fruitful and multiply. I still have awkward pictures of my permed hair and scratchy easter dresses
- I also told my therapist about this show and my recaps here and he thinks it's great. I'm glad I did it. It's really motivated me and helped me see just how far I've progressed
- I'm glad I also learned Nope is on Prime cause I rarely use prime video lol I mostly use it for twitch and prime delivery on cat supplies in bulk
- Good luck all you blasphemers, apostates, heretics, and sinners out there! Be good people, commit to the bit, and love without remorse!

Checking Again
The morning blood sugar was down to 123, a nice decline. After we had our coffee and played our brain games, we made toast with blackberry jam.
Nancy talked with Peggy, her spiritual advisor, after texting with Kalen and Annie about us getting together once Robin gets shifted into the space he will be in for the next couple of weeks.
Finally ordered some checks from a Costco-associated vendor with our Oregon address for the Vantage West Credit Union account. I have only written one check since we have been here, scratching out the old information. I will probably write most of them for church.
The high is only supposed to be 66º today, and that’s from about 3 to 4 p.m. The day started out overcast and cold and damp, although no rain is forecast.
We cooked up the remaining bacon for brioche breakfast sandwiches, and Nancy started a pot of beans to go with the tamales that just arrived today from Tucson Tamale. Beans and tamales for dinner!
Checking my YouTube page, I realized it’s been a whole year since I posted anything. I gave up regular posting when the video from last October’s Tucson Meet Yourself proved to be problematic, thanks to upgrades to the Premier software. It might be time to start doing videos again if I can work out the technical problems. The main question, of course, is “what to video?”
While I was out walking (2.3 miles), Nancy heard from Annie that Robin has been checked into the new facility. About 3 p.m. we went over to visit with Robin and Annie and, later, Kalen at the new place, The Esther at Riverbend Assisted Living. Robin likes it and figures it will make for a comfortable visit for a couple of weeks while he finishes up the healing he needs.
When Nancy and I got home, we heated up the beans, microwaved the tamales, and enjoyed a nice and tasty meal, with cheese and salsa and enchilada sauce.
Our streaming menu tonight consisted of the Colbert show with Kamala, the finale of “Bad Monkey” and the next episodes of “High Potential” and “Murder in a Small Town.” The latter featured Stana Katic, formerly of “Castle,” as a psychopath.

The expertise invested remains constant, irrespective of whether the session is conducted in person or virtually. Moreover, running an online therapy business comes with its unique set of expenditures, including secure video conferencing software subscriptions, among others. So don't undervalue just because they are delivered digitally; consider all aspects before finalising fee structures for online consultations.
Crafting Attractive Discount Packages
To make services more appealing, especially when starting off new or during special occasions like local health shows, offering discount packages rather than individual session reductions could be considered. This approach encourages longer-term commitment from clients while simultaneously enhancing client retention rate - both key elements in building successful therapy businesses. Hypnotherapy Directory UK, for instance, uses a similar strategy successfully. The idea here is to make it financially attractive enough so potential clients feel encouraged to take up long-term treatment plans, thereby securing a consistent revenue stream whilst providing them valuable savings, too.
Leveraging Free Consultations Effectively
Sessions serve as powerful marketing tools if utilised correctly. They provide prospective clients with the opportunity to experience firsthand the quality service offered, thus increasing the likelihood of converting them into paying customers later. However, it's important to ensure complimentary offerings do not devalue the overall worth of the professional work done. Instead, use them strategically to showcase competence and effectively address client issues, hence convincing prospects.
Key Takeaway:
As a hypnotherapist, the freedom to set your own fees is golden. But remember, don't just reflect service value in your rates - account for overheads, too. In this digital age, offering online sessions can broaden horizons but resist undervaluing them due to reduced operational costs. Consider crafting discount packages for long-term commitment and retention boosts. Free consultations?
Community Engagement and Partnerships
The visibility and credibility of your therapy business can be significantly boosted through active engagement with the local community. This could involve forming partnerships with local charities, participating in health shows, or even offering free talks at communal venues such as a church.
This process commences by identifying potential partners that align well with your practice's ethos and objectives. Once identified, it is important to approach these organisations professionally to propose mutually beneficial collaborations. It's crucial to articulate what you bring to the table clearly and how this adds value for them.
Fostering Professional Relationships
Cultivating professional relationships presents another effective strategy for expanding one's network while simultaneously gaining new clients. Collaborations within professional organisations or therapy centres can open doors for referrals whilst providing opportunities for continuous learning.
A case study worth noting here involves a hypnotherapist who established successful partnerships across his field, leading him towards an integrated healthcare service model. This collaborative effort has resulted in work alongside psychotherapists, counsellors, and nutritionists, among others, thereby enriching his own practice considerably.
To kickstart collaboration:
• Create profiles on virtual platforms like LinkedIn, where professionals gather regularly
• Become active members of industry-specific forums, encouraging regular discussions
• Attend networking events organised by relevant bodies within the hypnotherapy sector
This level of engagement provides access to expert insights from different fields, which could enhance the quality of services provided in your own practice. Additionally, this fosters mutual respect amongst peers, leading to fruitful collaborations on future projects.
youtube
Promoting Services Through Community Events
Leveraging public speaking engagements at community events serves as an excellent platform for promoting services directly or indirectly.
For instance:
• You might consider offering free talks related to mental health awareness during Mental Health Week
• You may conduct self-hypnosis workshops at wellness festivals around town
• If there's a fitness event happening locally, you
Key Takeaway:
Engaging with the local community, forging professional relationships and promoting services at events are vital for boosting your hypnotherapy business. Be proactive in seeking collaborations that align with your ethos, utilise online platforms for networking, and leverage public speaking opportunities to raise awareness about mental health and self-hypnosis.
Is there a demand for hypnotherapists in the UK?
Absolutely. Hypnotherapy is gaining traction in the UK as more people seek alternative methods to address health and wellness issues, creating a growing demand for qualified hypnotherapists.
How in demand are hypnotherapists?
Hypnotherapists are increasingly sought after due to their ability to help with various conditions like stress, anxiety, phobias, and addictive behaviours. The popularity of holistic therapies boosts this demand further.
How much do hypnotherapists get paid in the UK?
The earnings of a Hypnotherapist can vary widely depending on experience and client base, but typically, they could earn anywhere between £65 - £120 per session.
How many hypnotherapists are there in the UK?
The exact number fluctuates, but it's estimated that several thousand trained professionals offer hypnosis services across the country, catering to an ever-growing clientele seeking alternative therapeutic solutions.
Conclusion
The demand for hypnotherapists in the UK is steadily rising, fueled by an increasing interest in alternative therapies.
Building a successful therapy business involves overcoming self-doubt, investing time and effort into marketing strategies, and delivering top-notch services to clients.
The quality of service sets your practice apart from others.
Digital marketing tools like social media platforms or professional directories can help you reach more potential clients than ever before.
Add value to your offerings with treatment packages or online sessions that cater to modern lifestyles. Over-delivering impresses clients and builds loyalty.
Your earnings as a hypnotherapist are influenced by various factors, including how many sessions you offer, your pricing strategy for online consultations, special offers at launch, etc. Remember: You have flexibility when setting fees!
Lastly, engaging with local communities through partnerships opens up new opportunities, while collaboration with other professionals enhances learning experiences.
If this has aroused your curiosity in joining the ever-expanding field.
Inspiraology, our comprehensive hypnotherapy training programme, will equip you with the skills needed to capitalise on these trends.

MRMC New Technology for Worship - Videoguys
Tumblr media Tumblr media
The blog post “MRMC Updates Prestonwood Baptist Church In Plano, TX” by Ellen Lampert-Greaux for LiveDesignOnline details the recent upgrade of broadcast and streaming technology at Prestonwood Baptist Church. Bryan Bailey, director of media at the church, and Paddy Taylor, head of broadcast solutions at MRMC, discuss their collaboration on this significant update completed in January 2024.
Extent and Goals of the New Install: The church, with a mission to impact the world through effective means, found its existing broadcast setup outdated. The new installation aimed to enhance the church’s ability to deliver dynamic and immersive broadcasts to its audience, which includes 15,000 weekly online viewers.
New Gear Installed:
Audio: A d&b Soundscape system replaced the old audio PA, enhancing the audio experience.
Stage: Paragon360 redesigned the stage, adding more square footage and better cable management.
LED Walls: Upgraded with denser-pitched ReveLux products, increasing the digital scenery canvas.
Lighting: UVLD introduced new LED moving light fixtures, and Ayrton’s 32 Huracan LT and 50 Eurus fixtures provided improved stage and audience lighting.
Video: The entire video system was updated from a 1080i setup, including a Sony XVS 6000 switcher, Evertz routing, Boland monitors, TBC furniture, and Riedel intercom.
Enhanced Service Experience: The upgrade from nine cameras to 18, including various Sony models on MRMC heads, significantly improved camera angles and movement, making the broadcast more engaging for viewers. The discreet MRMC robotics allowed operators to control cameras remotely, increasing creative freedom without disturbing the congregation.
Holiday Productions: The church hosts “The Gift of Christmas,” a large-scale production involving 1,500 volunteers, 14 performances, and 70,000 attendees. The AVL design work took this annual event into account, ensuring the new technology supports its immersive nature.
Challenges and Solutions: Adapting the technology for a church environment posed unique challenges. MRMC’s discreet camera placements and volunteer-friendly software were crucial solutions, setting a precedent for other churches to enhance their worship and teaching environments with robotic cameras.

A family history database and Irish ancestry
Tumblr media
Medieval map of Ireland, showing Irish tribes, courtesy of an article in SOTT titled "DNA shows Irish people have more complex origins than previously thought"
A family history database is the topic that Pat Richley-Erickson touched on in a recent post, talking about how to use RootsMagic desktop software, "one of two desktop computer programs that can download to your computer everything from your Ancestry Member Tree including attached photos and documents," and even had a video explaining "how to download all data and attached images from an Ancestry Member Tree to a new RootsMagic database." Pat also writes that Ancestry won't get rid of your tree, you just can't "get to the database images you’ve attached to each ancestor until you reactivate your Ancestry account." It is also noted that for " free genealogy websites, a good place to begin is with a free account at FamilySearch.org," with 70% of the digital images not yet browsable or indexed, some of which "must be viewed at your local Family History Center, owing to stipulations by the church, courthouse, archive or library that holds the original documents."
That brings us to a host of other articles. There are some about old Irish phrases, a new Cambridge History of Ireland, zebra mussels arriving in Ireland, and the effect of the Potato Famine in Ireland. One article noted that
The Irish, those born in Ireland and those who claim Irish descent, are to be found in history as well as the present on every continent, from Europe to Asia, from the Americas to Australasia.
That is true of the Mills family, which has ancestors from Ireland who settled in the U.S.!
This post was originally published on WordPress in June 2018.
Most interesting was the story of Bridget O’Donnel, a "poor famine victim from County Clare whose harrowing story appeared in The Illustrated London News on December 22, 1849." Irish Central quoted the interview in which she told this story:
“I lived,” she said, “on the lands of Gurranenatuoha. My husband held four acres and a half of land, and three acres of bog land; our yearly rent was £7 4s.; we were put out last November; he owed some rent. We got thirty stone of oats from Mr. Marcus Keane, for seed. My husband gave some writing for it: he was paid for it. He paid ten shillings for reaping the corn. As soon as it was stacked, one ‘Blake’ on the farm, who was put to watch it, took it away to his own haggard and kept it there for a fortnight by Dan Sheedey’s orders. They then thrashed it in Frank Lellis’s barn. I was at this time lying in fever. Dan Sheedey and five or six men came to tumble my house; they wanted me to give possession. I said that I would not; I had fever, and was within two months of my down-lying (confinement); they commenced knocking down the house, and had half of it knocked down when two neighbours, women, Nell Spellesley and Kate How, carried me out. I had the priest and doctor to attend me shortly after. Father Meehan anointed me. I was carried into a cabin, and lay there for eight days, when I had the creature (the child) born dead. I lay for three weeks after that. The whole of my family got the fever, and one boy thirteen years old died with want and with hunger while we were lying sick. Dan Sheedey and Blake took the corn into Kilrush, and sold it. I don’t know what they got for it. I had not a bit for my children to eat when they took it from me.”
Sadly, for our purposes, John Mills came before the famine, so all the resources about the famine don't particularly apply to the Mills family. Perhaps sites like IrelandXO can help there, but not the recent Cambridge edition, as it covers a period far too early.
That's all for today. For next time!

Mishegas
During overnight online activities before dawn on Monday, I uploaded the sermon audio and text for the social media promotion I would be posting later in the day. By the time I got back out of bed, there was a text awaiting me from a church colleague about the website being down.
When I checked the site, all that appeared was a notice that the account had been suspended. The link to contact the provider actually pointed to the webmaster account for our domain, which probably would not have worked.
My initial thought was that this was some kind of hack. The church website had been hacked in the past, but that was back when we were still using a site-building system that provided some back-end access. Those have been cleared up since, but we no longer use that software.
The next step was to log into the account at the host company to see if there was more information. But my login credentials returned another notice of account suspension, so my next move was to call the hosting company's support line.
Even though it was Martin Luther King Day, the drones at the hosting company were on the job. Perhaps because they were from Indian or Pakistan, as the accent of the fellow who answered suggested. Sadly, he reported that the account had been suspended because of non-payment. To pay the overdue amount would require a bank transfer, and since it was a banking holiday, that would have to wait until Tuesday morning.
In the meantime, the retiring accountant informed me later on Monday, the credit card the church had been using had been hacked, and it was cancelled by the bank without notifying the church that they had taken that action. And any correspondence from the web hosting company about an overdue payment was evidently missed.
So, first thing Tuesday, on the way to church to do the weekly offering count, I stopped by my bank and initiated a transfer from my personal account to cover the overdue amount. By the end of the day the money had left my account, so I expected that when I checked the church website this morning it would be back in action. But, no!
So I once again called the hosting company and the gentleman who answered said the whole process could take 3-5 days, and that it mostly had to do with banking procedures. It seems that when the money disappeared from my account, it began a very slow trek to the account of the hosting company.
Which means we're stuck until then with the sloppy "account suspended" greeting on the church website.
UPDATE: Turns out there was no fraud, it was an error by staff, which made it so much more complicated than it ever needed to be. Nuff said.
