now that i have my own health insurance that actually matches how poor i am, i'm realizing how much of a scam my dad's insurance through his job is
first of all, having to pay less than $20 for a medication was a fucking rarity. second of all. $40 copays for regular docs and $60 for specialists?? and $50 for urgent care and fucking. $200 for the ER?????? what the fuck dude. and the fact that the only time we ever hit the deductible and stopped having to pay out of pocket was the year my mom had a stroke & was in inpatient PT for a month. and then they STILL had to draw funds from her 401k a few years later to pay her medical debt.
almost all my meds cost me exactly zero dollars now. $5 urgent care copay. $5/25% ER copay (haven't been so i don't know what the dollar amount would actually be). $10 specialist, $0 primary care.
like yes i make less than $2k a month and therefore qualify for $0/month health insurance and yea it does suck that almost all my doctors are out of network (which is a whole different type of healthcare scam tbh but whatever) but still. those copays are insane. especially the ER one.
like. sorry youre having a medical emergency, you also have to shell out two hundred bucks to be seen for it. and that doesn't even touch what we're gonna bill you for later after you've received treatment

Chronic pain scale, always an important addition (I would say for this poll still use the non-chronic numbers, if your chronic pain level is say a 4 then vote 7, a 5 then vote 8, etc)
is it really true that the average person's pain level is a 0?

How remedial massage can help with neck pain
Neck pain is a common issue that can affect anyone, whether you're dealing with stress, poor posture, or a recent injury. Fortunately, remedial massage therapy offers an effective solution for relieving neck pain and improving your overall well-being.
Tumblr media
Understanding Neck Pain
Neck pain often arises from everyday activities like sitting at a desk for extended periods, sleeping in awkward positions, or experiencing stress. These factors can lead to muscle tension, stiffness, and discomfort in the neck area.
Key Benefits of Massage for Neck Pain
1. Pain Relief: Massage therapy targets tight muscles and knots in the neck, helping to release tension and reduce pain. Techniques like deep tissue massage and trigger point therapy are particularly effective in addressing these issues.
2. Increased Mobility: Regular massage can improve the range of motion in your neck, making it easier to move without discomfort. This is especially beneficial if your neck pain has been limiting your daily activities.
3. Stress Reduction: Stress often manifests as muscle tension in the neck and shoulders. Massage helps relax these muscles, reducing stress and its associated pain.
Practical Tips for Relief
1. Gentle Stretches: Incorporating simple neck stretches into your daily routine can help maintain the benefits of massage therapy. Try gently tilting your head to each side, holding the stretch for a few seconds.
2. Heat Therapy: Applying a warm compress to your neck before or after a massage session can enhance relaxation and soothe sore muscles.

The differences between conversations about being disabled with “body positivity” people and people who actually don’t care (/pos) is insane. Last weekend I decided to actually label a condition I deal with as a disability, and told my mom and my brother. My mom said “you’re just as abled as you need to be 🩷” (untrue) and my brother said “yeah… was this a question?”
I felt so much more validated and comfortable with my brother’s response. Like “you can’t do something because of your body… of course you’re disabled.”
