Related festivals:
• Sukkot- is a Torah-commanded holiday celebrated for seven days, beginning on the 15th day of the month of Tishrei. It is one of the Three Pilgrimage Festivals (Hebrew: שלוש רגלים, shalosh regalim) on which those Israelites who could were commanded to make a pilgrimage to the Temple in Jerusalem. In addition to its harvest roots, the holiday also holds spiritual importance with regard to its abandonment of materialism to focus on nationhood, spirituality, and hospitality, this principle underlying the construction of a temporary, almost nomadic, structure of a sukkah.
• Mid-Autumn festival- also known as the Moon Festival or Mooncake Festival, is a traditional festival celebrated in Chinese culture. Similar holidays are celebrated by other cultures in East & Southeast Asia. It is one of the most important holidays in Chinese culture; its popularity is on par with that of Chinese New Year. The history of the Mid-Autumn Festival dates back over 3,000 years. The festival is held on the 15th day of the 8th month of the Chinese lunisolar lunisolar calendar with a full moon at night, corresponding to mid-September to early October of the Gregorian calendar. On this day, the Chinese believe that the Moon is at its brightest and fullest size, coinciding with harvest time in the middle of Autumn.
• Thanksgiving- This is a secular holiday which is similar to the cell of Mabon; A day to give thanks for the food & blessings of the previous year. The American Thanksgiving is the last Thursday of November while the Canadian Thanksgiving is celebrated in October
• Festival of Dionysus- There were several festivals that honored Dionysus, the God of wine. It was a time of fun, games, feasting & drinking wine.
Activities:
•Scatter offerings in a harvested fields, Offer libations to trees
• Decorate your home and/or altar space for fall
• Bake bread
• Perform a ritual to restore balance and harmony to your life
• Cleanse your home of negative energies
• Pick apples
• Have a dinner or feast with your family and/or friends
• Set intentions for the upcoming year
• Purge what is no longer serving you
•Take a walk in the woods
• Enjoy a pumpkin spice latte
• Donate to your local food bank
• Gather dried herbs, plants, seeds & pods
• Learn something new
• Make wine
• Brew an apple cinnamon simmer pot
• Create an outdoor Mabon altar
•Adorn burial sites with leaves, acorns, & pinecones to honor those who have passed over & visit their graves
Many cultures see the second harvest (after the first harvest Lammas) and equinox as a time for giving thanks. This time of year is when farmers know how well their summer crops did, and how well fed their animals have become. This determines whether you and your family would have enough food for the winter. That is why people used to give thanks around this time, thanks for their crops, and animals, and food.
The name Mabon comes from the Welsh God, who was the son of the Earth Mother Goddess. However, there is evidence that the name was adopted in the 1970s, and the holiday was not originally a Celtic celebration.
Some believe Night and day are of equal legth and the God's energy & strength are nearly gone . The Goddess begins to mourn the loss she knows is coming, but knows he will return when he reborn at Yule.

random facts about random riordanverse characters from my characters doc:
percy jackson: thalia once dyed his hair neon green (which, he has black hair, so no clue how) and it lasted for two weeks before washing out entirely
thalia grace: actually very close to will solace. he treated her when she first woke up, and reminded her of jason. she's basically a big sister now. she threatened nico about him.
nico di angelo: got so nervous about asking will out he accidentally asked in chinese, before reverting to welsh, and then latin. finally, he stutters it out in a mix of greek, italian, and english (luckily will understands all three). unfortunately, will responds in sign language for some reason??? nico doesn't know sign language.
meg mccaffrey: meg has a horrendous obsession with gatorade. like. she won't drink water, it's gatorade or nothing. apollo is SO concerned because he doesn't know what gatorade is and also it looks VERY unnatural.
leo valdez: not only can he cook tacos, he knows how to make tamales. actually, while on the argo ii, he and percy made most of the food. this man can COOK.
will solace: has a habit of always carrying pens around with him (both as a way of keeping close to michael, who collected pens before his death, and just bc he's in the infirmary so much) and he clicks them ALL THE TIME as a fidget. people forcibly take them from him sometimes.
Annabeth Chase: she's autistic and so is her dad. part of why they have so much trouble having a good relationship with each other. they both have really black and white thinking styles.
Calypso: she's like 7 feet tall.
Magnus Chase: he really likes the chronicles of narnia series. when he was a kid, he dressed up like the lion for three halloweens in a row. his favorite is the lion the witch and the wardrobe.
Alex Fierro: felines are easier than canines in regards to shapeshifting.
Sadie Kane: she likes strawberry ribena the best
Carter Kane: he wants to grow his hair out. when he's in his twenties, he does. sadie helps him braid it.
Clarisse La Rue: after her mission in ttc, she's extremely claustrophobic.
Piper McLean: the reason she was so against feminine stuff in TLH is because she was so sexualized by the media when she was girly. so she openly rejected it.
Travis Stoll: makes oddly specific t-shirts about what happens at camp. like, “I defeated the greek personification of time this summer and all i got was this lousy tee shirt.”
Connor Stoll: isn't dyslexic. loves reading.
Katie Gardner: she drops out of college after her first semester. it just wasn't for her. she owns a flower shop called petal to the metal, where she says "have a punk rock day" to all her customers.
clovis: he doesn't actually need to sleep 24/7, he just doesn't want to interact with people.
Cecil Markowitz: a threesome baby. no, really. he's 25% his mum, 25% his dad, and 50% hermes. he-- he has a lot of questions and no answers, and that's probably for the better.
Lou Ellen Blackstone: she's black, and usually keeps her hair in braids. before alabaster torrington defected he did it (he's white, learned just for her), and after, beckendorf did her hair.
Zoe Nightshade: she's regenerating. she was a titaness, she'll be back.
Lee Fletcher: he dropped out of high school. it wasn't for him. got his GED and took college classes on the side til he died, but personally modern schooling wasn't really for him.
Rachel Dare: when she turns 21 and gains access to her trust fund, she immediately donates the entire thing.
Hazel Levesque: definitely the person who always has a cardigan/sweater for you to use if you get cold.
Frank Zhang: goes back and finds his grandmother after HoO
Jason Grace: jiper was comphet. he's gay.
Reyna: didn't actually join the hunt. i don't think that really is a natural character ending? she is ace though.
Grover: turns out pan passing his spirit on to grover actually made grover a god?? yeah grover didn't realise for //years//
juniper: fought in the battle of manhattan. she just brought a couple of her berries with her.
Chris Rodriguez: following going insane and becoming sane again, he develops anorexia to regain his sense of control over his life.
Drew Tanaka: she's actually aro-ace.
Malcolm Pace: in an effort to always be prepared he sleeps in jeans and street clothes, and always has a bag of supplies on him.
Ellis Wakefield: is from somalia. his first language is somali. he speaks somali, english, arabic, and greek.
Mitchell: went to military school for a bit. has a habit of calling people sir/ma'am after every sentence now.
michael yew: has the gift of prophecy, knew going into manhattan that he was going to die.
miranda gardiner: summer only camper, takes over counselor during the summer (katie doesn't want it. also she's vietnamese. i know thats two facts i just think it's important.
sherman yang: he has two dads. his mortal dad's name is jeff. sherman sees him like, one week every two months? jeff lives in seattle.
jake mason: he's got a fish named bubbles. he says it's because harley wanted to name it. he lies.
silena beauregard: summer only camper, she volunteers at a domestic abuse shelter during the year, and hopes to go into social work.
charles beckendorf: he was 16 when he died, but had finished HS work 2 years early. had been accepted to MIT. he wouldn't have gone, anyway, because of the expense, too far from camp, but-- it had been a nice dream
Nyssa Barrera: she's a year round camper, and always been mad that taking care of harley fell to her.
Lacy: physically disabled. she's got JRA, and is in a wheelchair part time.
Harley: really likes unsweetened cheerios.

🌹 ROSE WATER 🌹
Rose petal water is used in a number of natural skincare products but that’s not all you should do with it. Rose petal water contains various vitamins including vitamins A, C, E and B. Rose water has been used for centuries and dates back to the years of Cleopatra. It is generally used for it’s soothing qualities and is commonly used by Chinese medicine and Ayurveda. Rose water has anti-inflammatory properties, has been used as a cough syrup and has also cleared reflux. Rose oil is said to help treat depression, grief, anxiety and stress. In addition, it can be used for wound healing and for headaches. It is said many cultures used rose water infused in drinks to help sooth a cranky toddler.
So how do we make rose petal water?
What you need:
▫️Mason jar of distilled water
▫️Hand full of rose petals
▫️Let petals steep in the sun for 2 days
Why should I drink rose petal water?
▫️Help heal sore throats, cold, flu
Alleviate digestion, bloating
▫️Said to have anti-aging properties
▫️Reduces wrinkles, lightens dark spots, and tightens pores ▫️Hydrate the skin from the inside out ▫️Calm nerves
▫️Reduce inflammation
Try our anti aging Freedom cream with witch hazel infused with rose petal water. Appreciate the best products working with your skin not against it.
Have you had your own rose petal water?

Request for a arcane/pjo/spiderverse/marvel matchup (platonic or romantic, I don’t really have a preference for it) :]
Hi! So I’m genderfluid but lean fem presenting, and use they/them pronouns. I’m aroace (romance positive/neutral, sex repulsed). My main hobbies include writing, drawing, and some martial arts (taekwondo and kickboxing specifically, but I’m trying to branch out to maybe Krav Maga or BJJ).
My interests vary, like, a lot but the stuff right now are poisonous plants and animals (jellyfish and manchineel trees specifically), the usages of mushrooms to make reusable building materials and vines as piping materials in order to create sustainable cities, BSD, f1, history in general, old-times weapons (SWORDS. So, so many swords), Sky:CotL, the 1983 revolution of Burkina Faso (real specific, sorry), and I tend to develop similar interests to people around me.
I’m an Aquarius and an INTP-T (last time I checked) with gifted kid syndrome and eldest daughter issues. I’m also Canadian and can’t stand hot climates what so ever and have social anxiety disorder and general anxiety disorder. I also play piano and most woodwind instruments and I know 2 (English, French) languages and am working on a 3rd (Italian).
Physically I’m 5,10-5,11 with pale skin and light freckles, brown-red, wavy hair that’s about a bob length in the back and has 2 longer pieces in the front as well as 2 bleached pieces. I’m plus-size and relatively muscular in my legs and shoulders (not so much in my torso and arms but eh) as well as kinda curvy. I’ve got large, slightly downturned hazel eyes and weird eyebrows but there’s nothing I can do about that. I’m looking to get some snakebites soon, as well as an industrial piercing in at least one of my ears.
My style leans between comfy stuff (jeans, hoodies, etc) and Edwardian era witch (dresses, witch hats, big leather sacs). I always wear docs and my favourite colour is green.
I don’t have a lot of preferences in other people tbh, everyone’s chill.
My favourite foods are beef barley stew, lemon meringue pie, and Ethiopian food as a whole (Chinese takeout from specifically Quality foods is the next best thing imo). I really like ovaltine and I have a few health issues that were still trying to figure out (iron deficiency + possibly pcos).
I’m not a cat or dog person, I love both don’t get me wrong, but I really like weird animals and I want a pet bear (not legal where I live or good for the animal sadly :[ )
I tend to be a bit abrasive and standoffish at first, and I can come off a bit bitchy but I swear I’m nice enough to people I care about—
———————
Idk if I did this right, sorry—
[ @scyphozoa-mancinella ]
You did it just perfect, cariño, don’t worry
——————
Your Arcane match is…
Violet
Vi would absolutely love sparring with you in taekwondo or kickboxing, and she’d probably challenge you to push your limits in Krav Maga or BJJ, giving you tips and encouragement
She’d respect your standoffishness and wouldn’t push you to open up, but she’d always be quietly watching out for you, especially if anyone messes with you
Vi would be genuinely interested in hearing about your knowledge on poisonous plants, sustainable cities, and history—she loves learning new things and would admire your vast interests
Since you’re both tough on the outside but soft towards those you care about, you’d have an unspoken understanding of each other, no need for a lot of words
Vi would get involved in your hobbies, whether it’s looking at cool swords or learning more about music and history, and she’d love that you pick up on her interests too
She’d take you to try new foods, always down to explore interesting cuisines like Ethiopian food with you
The weirder the dish, the more Vi would be into it
Vi would be into your mix of comfy and witchy clothes, and she’d probably steal your hoodies and Docs when you’re not looking
She’d love that you both have that “abrasive but secretly caring” energy and would feel comfort in knowing you don’t need constant attention but are there when it counts
Vi would push you to get stronger, especially in your martial arts, but she’d also encourage you to keep working on your creative passions like writing and drawing
She’d be there for you through your health struggles, offering quiet comfort and checking in on you without making a big deal out of it
Your PJO match is…
Thalia Beryl Grace
Credits: frostbite.studios
Thalia would immediately connect with your love of martial arts, and she’d probably challenge you to a friendly sparring match or two, admiring your skills
You and Thalia would geek out over ancient battles and old weapons, especially swords, and she’d love discussing historical revolutions with you, given her fascination with mythology and legends
Thalia would be up for exploring new places with you, especially if they involve nature or ancient ruins—she loves adventure and would appreciate your company
Thalia isn’t a touchy-feely person herself, so she’d fully understand and respect your need for personal space, never crossing any physical boundaries without your permission
Unless she were to get you out of danger’s way
She’d relate to your tough exterior and standoffishness and would respect you for standing your ground, knowing there’s a caring side underneath that not everyone gets to see
Thalia would love that you play instruments and would probably have you teach her a thing or two on the piano, especially since she’s musically inclined as well
Thalia would understand your anxiety and wouldn’t pressure you to socialize or do anything that makes you uncomfortable, always having your back in social situations
She’d enjoy your intellectual side and would be more than happy to engage in long conversations about poisonous plants, ancient battles, and anything else that piques your interest
Thalia would love your mix of comfy and witchy fashion and would probably show up in something equally cool, bonding over your shared appreciation for unique aesthetics
She’d be a quiet but solid support for you through your health struggles, never making a big deal of it but always being there when you need her
Your Spider-Man Across the Spiderverse match is…
Gwen Stacy
Gwen would love that you play piano and woodwind instruments, and she’d invite you to jam with her, teaching you some cool techniques on her drums
She’d be impressed by your martial arts skills and would probably ask you to teach her a few moves, as she’s always looking to improve her own physical abilities
Gwen would be super interested in your research on poisonous plants, sustainable cities, and historical revolutions, always listening intently and asking questions
She’d invite you on wild adventures around the multiverse, always keeping things exciting but respecting when you need a break or feel anxious
Gwen would love your unique style, especially the Edwardian witch vibes, and she’d always compliment your outfit choices, maybe borrowing your Docs for a day or two
As someone who also deals with her own issues, Gwen would completely understand your social anxiety and wouldn’t push you beyond your comfort zone, always being there to support you
She’d be mindful of your boundaries around touch and would wait for you to initiate any physical contact, whether it’s a high five or a hug
Gwen would love learning about your different hobbies and interests, especially anything related to history and weird animals—she’d even start reading up on them herself to understand you better
Gwen would be there for you through your health issues, always checking in and offering support when you need it, and she’d be a quiet but strong presence in your life
While Gwen loves adventure, she’d also know when to slow down and just hang out with you in a low-key setting, maybe watching cartoons or playing music together when life feels overwhelming
Your Marvel match is…
Shuri
Shuri would love your intellectual curiosity and dive into deep conversations about poisonous plants, sustainable building materials, and historical revolutions
She’d find your research fascinating and would love exchanging knowledge with you
Shuri would totally involve you in her lab experiments, especially when it comes to sustainable innovations like using mushrooms and vines in building materials
You’d work together on eco-friendly tech
She’d be super respectful of your need for physical space and never push you to be physically affectionate unless you’re comfortable
She’s good at reading those cues and would know exactly when to give you space
Shuri would love training with you and might even create some high-tech gadgets to enhance your martial arts, helping you with anything related to Krav Maga or BJJ
You and Shuri would constantly collaborate on creative projects, whether it’s designing new tech or discussing history and current innovations, pushing each other to think outside the box
Shuri would appreciate your interest in animals, especially the more unique ones, and she’d introduce you to the advanced wildlife tech she’s developed to help protect endangered species
Both of you have a sharp wit and a sarcastic streak, so there would be lots of playful banter between you two, but always in good fun
Shuri would invite you on amazing trips to explore new cultures, environments, and technological wonders
She’d definitely want you by her side for both adventure and learning
Shuri would appreciate your style and might even design some custom outfits for you that blend her Wakandan fashion sense with your witchy, Edwardian aesthetic
She’d be invested in helping you manage your iron deficiency and possible PCOS, possibly even creating tech to monitor and improve your health
Shuri would be deeply caring in her own unique way, always looking out for you

Hamamelis × intermedia (witch hazel var: 'Jelena')
“Jelena” is one of many hybrid witch hazels formed when the Japanese witch hazel Hamamelis japonica is crossed with the Chinese witch hazel Hamamelis mollis. Both original parents have yellow flowers but countless generations of human meddling have produced flowers in a color range from near-white, to burnt orange (like “Jelena”) and various shades of red. Witch hazels are notable for flowering at this time of year and certainly bring a little excitement to an otherwise drab, late winter/early spring garden.

Winter Blooms of Hamamelis mollis and H. Mollis x H. Intermedia - Chinese Witch Hazel and Japanese-chinese witch hazel cultivar
Common to find these early bloomers in winter gardens nowadays, unlike the common American variety (eastern witch hazel not ozark witch hazel), which blooms in October to December, the asian species bloom in late winter and early spring. These species are favored as a garden cultivar due to a long history of cultivation, its enticing scent usually strongest after a rainstorm, and bloom time. In the wild the number of blooms is never this prolific especially considering the plant's common position as an understory shrub. Variants with shorter yellow strap petals are mixed with the Japanese witch hazel species visible in the first image, both species have yellow flowers but typically the Chinese cultivars have a longer reddish appearance.

The 6 Types of Soil 🌱
Chalk
Chalky soil is alkaline and is stony and easily drains. It is often set above a layer of limestone or chalk. Minerals are easily absorbed from this type of soil and needs to be replenished via fertilizers. Some plants that enjoy this soil are Baby's Breath, Chinese Peony, California Poppies, and Rosemary.
Clay
Clay soil is thick soil that dries and cracks when warm and becomes slimy and sticky when wet. It drains poorly and is hard to dig into. However, this soil is full of nutrients. Some plants that like clay soil are asters, bearded irises, bee balm, and butterfly bush.
Loam
Loamy soil is one of the most versatile soils. It is a mixture of silt, clay, and sand. It warms quickly in spring and doesn't drain too easily yet doesn't become waterlogged. Some plants that like this type of soil are tomatoes, carrots, strawberries, and honeysuckles.
Peat
Peaty soil is soil that is acidic and high in organic matter such as decomposed plant or animal tissue. It is low in nutrients and clings to water, which causes waterlogging. It is spongey and rarely used in gardens. Some plants that like peaty soil are witch hazel, camellia, and azaleas.
Sand
Sandy soil easily drains and is gritty. It dries out and loses nutrients quickly, so it needs to be frequently watered and fertilized. It warms early in spring. Some plants that like sandy soil are potatoes, lavender, cucumbers, and radishes.
Silt
Silty soil is very fine soil made when rocks erode from ice or water damage. It becomes slippery when wet but not grainy. It is smooth to the touch and easily compacted. Silty soil is best used for moisture-loving plants. Some plants that like this soil are vines, grasses, and trees such as dogwood and birch.

Loropetalum: A Guide to Growing and Enjoying This Versatile Shrub
Title: Loropetalum: A Guide to Growing and Enjoying This Versatile Shrub
Loropetalum, also known as Chinese fringe flower, is a versatile and visually striking shrub that can add a pop of color and texture to any garden or landscape. With its vibrant foliage, unique flowers, and easy maintenance, it's no wonder that loropetalum has become a favorite among gardeners. In this guide, we'll explore everything you need to know about growing and enjoying this beautiful plant.
1. Understanding Loropetalum:
Loropetalum is native to China, Japan, and Southeast Asia and belongs to the witch hazel family (Hamamelidaceae). It is prized for its stunning foliage and clusters of spidery flowers that bloom in shades of pink, red, or white, depending on the variety. The foliage ranges from deep burgundy to bright green, adding visual interest throughout the year.
2. Choosing the Right Variety:
There are several varieties of loropetalum available, each with its unique characteristics. When selecting a variety for your garden, consider factors such as mature size, flower color, and foliage type. Popular varieties include 'Ruby', 'Burgundy', and 'Zhuzhou Fuchsia', each offering its own distinct appeal.
3. Ideal Growing Conditions:
Loropetalum thrives in well-drained soil and prefers a location with full to partial sun. While it can tolerate a range of soil types, it performs best in slightly acidic soil. Ensure proper drainage to prevent waterlogging, as loropetalum is susceptible to root rot in overly wet conditions.
4. Planting and Maintenance:
When planting loropetalum, dig a hole that is twice the width of the root ball and of equal depth. Backfill the hole with soil mixed with compost or organic matter to improve soil fertility and drainage. Water the plant thoroughly after planting and mulch around the base to conserve moisture and suppress weeds.
Regular pruning is essential to maintain the shape and size of loropetalum and encourage vigorous growth and flowering. Prune in late winter or early spring before new growth emerges, removing any dead or diseased branches and shaping the plant as desired.
5. Watering and Feeding:
While loropetalum is drought-tolerant once established, regular watering is necessary, especially during periods of prolonged drought. Water deeply but infrequently, allowing the soil to dry out slightly between waterings. Apply a balanced fertilizer in early spring to promote healthy growth and abundant flowering.
6. Pests and Diseases:
Loropetalum is relatively resistant to pests and diseases, but it may occasionally encounter issues such as aphids, scale insects, or fungal diseases like powdery mildew. Monitor the plant regularly for signs of infestation or disease, and treat promptly with insecticidal soap or fungicide if necessary.
7. Landscape Uses:
Loropetalum is incredibly versatile and can be used in a variety of landscape settings. It works well as a specimen plant, accentuating its unique foliage and flowers, or as a hedge or border plant for added privacy and structure. Additionally, loropetalum can be grown in containers on patios or balconies, bringing color and texture to small spaces.
8. Enjoying Loropetalum:
Whether used as a focal point in the garden or as part of a mixed border, loropetalum never fails to impress with its vibrant colors and graceful form. Its long-lasting flowers attract pollinators like bees and butterflies, adding life and movement to the garden. Sit back, relax, and enjoy the beauty of loropetalum as it brightens up your outdoor space throughout the seasons.
In conclusion, loropetalum is a versatile and low-maintenance shrub that deserves a place in any garden or landscape. With proper care and attention, it will reward you with years of beauty and enjoyment. So why not add a touch of color and elegance to your outdoor space with this stunning plant?
