i do not trust people who shop at shein i'm sorry like there's no excuse for it. i can understand amazon, i can understand a lot of fast fashion, but shein is uniquely awful. and their clothes fall apart in a week so you can't even keep them and mend them. "but i'm poor" okay and you don't need to buy from shein about it. "they sell shirts for $3" so does michael's check ur local craft store and make a design urself if u want. you cannot seriously tell me that you had no other option other than shein

Solar panels are now so cheap, Europeans are building fences with them
The panels capture less sunlight when used as fencing than they do on roofs, but the process saves on high labour and scaffolding costs, according to analysts and posts on social media by households that have installed them.
“This is the result of solar panels getting so cheap that we’re just putting them everywhere,” said Jenny Chase, lead solar analyst at BloombergNEF. “Since installation cost — labour, scaffolding — is the vast majority of the cost of installing a rooftop PV [photovoltaic] system, it can make sense.”
“Why put up a fence when you can just put up a load of solar panels, even if they’re not aligned exactly to the sun?” says Martin Brough, head of climate research at BNP Paribas Exane. “Where the panels themselves are just incredibly cheap, the constraints become the installation costs and the sites . . . you get a bit of a DIY mentality.”

pattern test for a larger project :3 I'm going to make the final version much larger because my faux fur is quite thick so I'll probably spring for actual safety eyes and nose for that, but at this point janky embroidery on the prototypes is just tradition lol
I love the muzzle shape on this pattern though! It's quite tricky (especially scaled down like this) because there are a lot of small precise edges to connect but it has a much more realistic shape than the average plush cat pattern.

I think Grout and myself are getting a permanent divorce.
Caulk was my first divorce almost half a decade ago, but sometimes we have a little spicy chat. Then I remember, that shit wasn’t meant to be. It never fill my gaps like the label described based on the instructions I was given.
Caulk and Grout just weren’t all what they said they would be. Lots of false hope, blood and tears. I gave it my all and best. They know that, we had a fun tango experience whilst it lasted but ya feel nothing lasts forever.

Adding onto this, there are some "cheap" tips that I genuinely enjoy doing.
I genuinely enjoy making my own oils and salves. I enjoy recycling soap scraps into new bars, I enjoy saving bottles and jars for plants and things and watching the collection grow knowing I'm getting more than my money's worth, and that I can then give those glasses to people who will use them. I enjoy learning how things are made so I can make them myself. I enjoy learning herbalism and feeling the effects of something that finally works. I enjoy saving the cardboard and packing paper from boxes and packages because it makes my craft brain happy even when I don't actively have a craft going on.
I enjoy using solar power and cutting open containers to get the last little bit and being the one going through our entire shampoo stock because my mother always buys more when she doesn't need it so I haven't NEEDED to buy shampoo and conditioner in ages (though I have bought some specifically to repair my hair after bleaching). And then once I'm through our stock of half used bottles and products we don't buy anymore, I'm switching to bar shampoo and conditioner because I can. Because I like it. Because I want to.
I enjoy listening to an artist's older music if I prefer that album of theirs. I enjoy listening to music from an MP3 player. I enjoy using a typewriter even though my hands are small and I'm not very good at it.
I enjoy these things because they make me feel capable. And after two (2) decades of having my every move controlled, of having my life planned out for me, knowing I not only could but actually do put this all into practice feels freeing to me.
I listen to myself and adjust accordingly because I can. I don't force myself to do things I don't want to or am terrified over because I can and I understand. I push myself to climb higher because I can.
And I love it.

PIN TUTORIAL.
So. You want pins of your favorite band/cartoon/oc/funny thing to put on backpacks/jackets/pants BUT you're broke and/or have no means to Acquire Pins. You find yourself thinking must Man do i need to make these???? And the answer is yes. Sadly, one either needs to purchase items to have items or make items to have items. I know, i know. It's unfair. It'll be alright, though. Fear not, beloved internet user, for i have The Easy Solution to Your Problem. For thee. Let me hold your hand passionately.
What you'll need is:
Tumblr media
Safety Pins - you can buy them for hella cheap in packages with Many Of Them. I'm probably not from your country so you'll have to look for them yourself online or in a store) Pair of Scissors - for cuttin' Plastic - Any kind as long as it's thick enough. reutilize something that would go to the trash, if you can. I'm using an old fanta bottle i stole from dad's pepper pot from the garden. you could also used those hard ish plastics from boxes too or packages. It doesn't have to be transparent, but that's recommended. Some sort of Glue - I recommend hot glue. I did not, however, have hot glue, so I used a two-part resin for fixing pipes instead. If it works it works. You can use anything as long as it secures the safety pin to the plastic. The Pin Content - I'm using STICKERS. i bought 200 6 months ago and have many left overs. You could also use a drawing you made or a cutout from a magazine and tape it to the plastic with transparent packaging tape.
That's all you need. However, if you'd like to make your life a bit easier, it'd be nice to have in hand:
tape - for tapin' razorblade - for scrapin' pen - for Penin'
See. easy. doesn't need a lot. I must say that since i'm a craftsperson i have More Materials laying about than the average arguably human population, but that's pretty much it.
tutorial with pictures continues under the read more. selfie under read more too with them on a cool jacket. here are the results so you know what you're getting into. Ooooo you want to make pins so bad oooooooo
Tumblr media
TLDR: glue Pin Content onto the plastic, glue the safety pin to that next. Pic IDs added.
STEP 1.
Stick the thing you want to pin on the plastic. I'm using stickers, but you can use the non adhesive stuff. You can tape a piece of paper to the plastic with transparent duct tape. Just make sure to leave a margin on all sides.
Tumblr media
STEP 2.
turn the plastic sheet around. Mark where the Up part of the sticker is and where you want the safety pins to go. This part is optional, but it helps making sure you're not going to put the pins in the wrong position. I didn't do it on my last batch and they turned out fine.
Tumblr media
STEP 3.
Secure the plastic to your work surface using tape to keep it still while you work. Again, optional, but it'll help keep the thing straight if your plastic is bent like mine.
Tumblr media
STEP 4.
Scratch the surface of the plastic so whatever gluing method you use actually works. The surface shouldn't be smooth or else it'll be hard to glue. You can use anything to scratch it. I did a criss cross pattern as shown in the picture.
Tumblr media
STEP 5.
Glue the pins to the scratched surface.
In my case it was done in two steps since the resin needed time to dry. I made a hard base to secure the pin and waited for two hours for that to dry. Then i put a small layer of resin over the part of the safety pin that doesn't open and waited for it to dry again.
This would be miles easier if you used hot glue. Just hot glue the pin to the plastic, making sure to keep the movable part free.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
STEP 6.
Cut the pins! If you taped them to the plastic instead of using premade stickers then make sure to leave more plastic to the sides. so it doesn't fall off. They're done. You now have pins.
Tumblr media
If you want to go above and beyond, you can cover the pin with a thin layer of clear nail polish to make it impermeable and more durable, but i'm all out of clear nail polish, so i didn't do it.
RESULTS PART 2.
Tumblr media
That's it. That's all. Have fun!

Long time Tumblr enjoyer, first time poster.
Here is a chicken coop I have been building. In true goblin fashion it is 90% made from pallet wood and reclaimed materials aka trinkets from my travels. See list below for examples
Palletwood- taken from local shipping company
Nails- removed from mallet Pallet wood, bent back to shape
Windows: made from a scrap of acrylic found in the dumpster at work
Vertical posts: dug out of the creek behind my house
Cain link fence for the run: also dug out of the creek
Concrete pavers: also also dug out if the creek
These pictures are from various points in the process and trust me, I have taken loads more if anyone is interested… I’m still working on a more permanent run but hopefully that will be done soon. I’m glad to finally have the chickens in it!
