I agree. Megain is ALMOST the biggest Soho fraud I've seen. They both are, at this point. So, for anyone in their right minds to entertain these two, means the whole kit and kaboodle stinks. And Nigeria is notoriously corrupt.

Another scammer. Gofundme was created 5 hours ago, and yet my inbox, of all the inboxes, was found so quickly. Using all the same language I have seen from many scammers. They all have several small, sad children and at least one debilitating injury, and they have photos to post showing an idea of proof of what they're saying, but they never appear to be around any other people who might be fleeing the area.

These are just things I notice when I get these inbox drops. Lots of shit to tug at your heartstrings but very little in the way of sincere evidence.

I want to be clear: I think the person in the photos IS someone who may need help, but I do not think the person in my inbox is that person. Some scammer has stolen photos from someone in order to make a buck.

Block and report. Give to charitable organizations that can prove they are on the ground providing aid.

i really recommend looking at their pinned posts in order to better recognize scams, not just using this list as a blocklist, because once they are terminated they each will immediately remake their scams under a new username

This was really bad.

Literally The Completionist dug his grave even more in the name of his "Alzheimer charity". Really sad, because that's the worst disease ever and needs all the possible money for research, even if it's one of the incurable ones. And the idea that it could be or was, a fraud all this time. Sucks.

It is one thing to ask for help to tide you over to keep you in your home, or to get into a rental to get you off of the streets. It's another thing entirely to ask people to pay for something that you will profit from like a house. No one owes you a house. Yes, everyone should have a roof over their heads, but the audacity to beg for a down payment to own your own home is beyond me.

And I question whether those requests are even legitimate because you generally cannot be gifted a down payment from random strangers or dubious sources anyway.

Lenders are less likely to allow you to use gift money for a down payment if it didn't come from someone close to you.
