A few months ago my cousin and his friend rigged up a solar panel to a used car battery in order to power a bunch of Christmas lights they'd used to decorate an abandoned and possibly condemned mansion.
So yes, i absolutely believe that a bunch of twenty year old yeshivah students dug an illegal 60ft tunnel under a synagogue with unclear and quite possibly non-existent goals, without the knowledge of their teachers. Sometimes these things just happen.
#jumblr#Chabad tunnels#for context my cousin is seventeen and a genius.#he straight up ordered the solar panel to his house and told his parents it was for a project. they didn't even question it.#this is the same cousin who violated international sanctions when he was 15 btw. but that's another story

The real problem with the 770 tunnel that no one wants to talk about is that it went under the women's section, and if the weakened foundation had caused the floor to collapse, then who knows how many knees would have been exposed as women fell??? Or sheytels fallen off and hair been exposed, chas v'shalom??? And they would have fallen into the men's section? That's not tsnies???????

12 people arrested after dispute over secret tunnel in Brooklyn synagogue NYC
Twelve Hasidic worshippers were arrested Monday after breaking into the Chabad-Lubavitch world headquarters in Crown Heights, New York, and allegedly damaging the synagogue beneath it, The Guardian reports.
Chaos reigned at Chabad-Lubavitch’s world headquarters in Brooklyn’s Crown Heights neighbourhood of New York on Tuesday as Jewish leaders and police confronted what Rabbi Motti Seligson, a Chabad spokesman, called “a group of extremist students”.
The building was once home to the leader of the Orthodox Jewish movement, Rabbi Menachem Mendel Schneerson, and attracts thousands of visitors each year. Schneerson led Chabad-Lubavitch for more than four decades until his death in 1994, reviving a Hasidic religious community devastated by the Holocaust.
Seligson said rioting students from within the movement “secretly breached the walls of a vacant building behind the headquarters, creating an underground passage beneath a series of office buildings and lecture halls that eventually connected to the synagogue.”

A helpful summary making short work of anti-Semitic conspiracy theories about the much publicised tunnels.
Hobby tunneling and messianic obsessiveness should not be grounds for any conspiracy theories.

What you think was going on with those "Jew tunnels" in NYC?
the funny thing about that is the real explanation is very boring (there was disagreement between the older owners of the building and a group of young orthodox about how to use the building space so the young orthodox built a tunnel to try to expand the space themselves) but since the media wouldn't report on it the internet filled the void with wild conspiracy theories about jews eating babies and stuff. it's a very good study about the effects of modern social media.

No they fucking didn't, they arrested 10 guys for digging one tunnel between one building into another literally adjacent to it.
Its funny as shit, I get it, but this is literally the point of my post. The difference between "a few guys dug one 60 foot tunnel into an adjacent building to win a property dispute" and "The Jews have a series of elaborate tunnel systems under NYC" is pretty fucking huge. Do you understand? Do you understand how those two sentences could be construed completely differently? And how the latter could be used by the worst people in the world to justify their world view to themselves and others?
I promise I understand how funny this situation is, I truly wish I could just point and laugh, but if I hear one more person say "intricate tunnel system" instead "singular tunnel built by a dozen kids huffing lethal doses on propaganda" Im gonna flip my fucking lid.
Every Jewish conspiracy theory is so much cooler than the reality.
"You've got space lasers" "You've got an underground tunnel system in NYC" no I fucking don't I've got religious trauma and an unhealthy fixation on pickled foods.
#if you want to get a kick out of this whole situation#educate yourselves on the history of Chabad and WHY these kids felt this was necessary bc its fucking insane#like funny as shit but we're all stuck on the tunnel

To the girl who stands with "Freedom Fighters"
On Friday, pro-Hamas groups on my campus started an encampment. I, along with a few Chabad peers, decided to stick around to keep an eye on things and be aware of the situation.
In that time, a non-Muslim, non-Arab, non-Palestinian girl approached us, and in the conversation when Hamas were brought up, she said she "stands with freedom fighters".
So this is to the girl who stared me right in the face and said she stands with "freedom fighters".
"Freedom fighters" don't cut off a woman's breast and toss it around like a plaything. "Freedom fighters" don't steal babies from their homes and keep them in dark tunnels for months on end. "Freedom fighters" don't take women hostage to hold them at gunpoint and command them to perform sexual acts. "Freedom fighters" don't gang rape civilians attending a music festival for peace, recording the whole thing with pride. "Freedom fighters" don't parade the naked bodies of their victims along the streets and pass out candy in celebration.
Maybe for you, girl who stands with "freedom fighters", this war is just some fandom to follow. You bought your cheap keffiyeh on Amazon and decided you're a revolutionary. Decided to set up camp illegally on campus and deemed yourself a rebel.
But did you stare at your screen in shock as your heart and hope and trust shattered into twelve hundred bloody pieces, trampled in the dirt? Did you frantically text friends to make sure they were home and safe and alive? Did your hands shake as you realized what was being done to your brothers and sisters?
Did you ever stare at a "missing" poster and miss people you've never met, because they're family all the same? Did you stare at graffiti scratched on a baby's face on the walls of your school's Chabad and realize that this is how little your lives and theirs mean to your peers?
Have you ever read the news and seen a Jewish brother murdered in your home city? Felt your heart drop to see another brother dead, so far from the war and yet somehow never far enough?
No, you haven't. Because you think you're such a rebellious revolutionary, standing in front of me in your keffiyeh, supporting your "freedom fighters".
Because you never had to hear your mother say she used to live on one of the kibbutzim that were attacked and realized that this could have been your future.
Because you have never had to look in the eyes of someone who has lost friends and family to your "freedom fighters" and struggled to find what to say to offer even a shred of comfort.
To you, this war is a trend. A fandom. A quirky little phase.
To so many others, it's a fucking nightmare come to life.

David Saltzman, a member of the Chabad-Lubavitch Synagogue in Brooklyn, New York, where underground tunnels were discovered earlier this year, admitted on a podcast that rituals were being performed underground.
He said the mattresses were stained because they were performing rituals on dead bodies to bring back their messiah. "We hope the messiah's spirit comes into that"
Anyway, I'll let you decide 🤔
