If you ask in Sarajevo, where the synagogue is, everyone will surely direct you to the four-towered, Moorish-style building, built in 1902 for the Bosnian Ashkenazi community. The temple is located on the left bank of the Miljacka River, between Drvenija and Ćumurija Bridges. This is the only active synagogue in Bosnia and Herzegovina, where the now only seven hundred Sephardic and Ashkenazi Jews whose grandparents returned from the death camps, pray in Bosnian, regardless of their origin and mother tongue.

This year, in St. Petersburg, Russia, city authorities banned an annual meeting in memory of the victims of the Holocaust.

A goal I have set for myself is to help make it so that every synagogue congregation that says Acheinu has easy access to materials to help them give financial and political support to the hostages and their families.

I’ve started by bringing donation QR codes, an informational flyer I made, and post cards congregants can send to their representatives to the 5 synagogues in my immediate area, but I need your help to do more.

If you attend a synagogue that’s added Acheinu to services following Oct 7th, please message me so we can talk about setting up a table in your synagogue too!
