Fates Warning is a band that plays some complex music (on sometimes dark themes).
[Maybe I'm getting mixed up with the band Pain of Salvation, or both these bands have some dark themes.]
This song from their 1994 album 'Inside Out' stands out due to the lyrics.
They seem to be (in part) questioning motives behind things we do.
(I saw it as an artist having the eyes to question what (monument) he/she creates. A monument that others will come by, years later, to see/appreciate.
Interesting how someone can see themselves in the situation they are in - as an observer of themselves.)
Of course, the amazing musicianship helps appreciate it as well.

Monument lyrics
There's a blind desire, there's a drive There's a need to leave some lasting feat Something to hold, something to keep A monument to complete
There's a written page, there's a book There's a search for something to say Something to share, something to speak A monument to convey
Is it fiction, is it confession Is it passion or just a profession Is it performance, is it expression Is it passion or just an obsession
There's a photograph, there's a frame There's a time, a moment to confine Something to save, something to see A monument to enshrine
Is it performance, is it expression Is it passion or just a profession Is it fiction, is it confession Is it passion or just an obsession
There's an empty room there's a blank page There's a picture left incomplete Something is lost, something remains A monument to defeat
Is it fiction, is it confession Is it passion or just a profession Is it performance, is it expression Is it passion or just an obsession

“Many say the moon is closer to the dead.”
This is COLOR OF A MIRROR, my debut novel with an original, dark ambient soundtrack by composer Josh McCausland to go along with it.
Written, designed, and published by me, it’s the culmination of years of work, and it’s exactly the story I wanted to tell. It’s not loud or bombastic, but rather a cerebral, slow-burn cyberpunk narrative lingering on themes of fame, paranoia, religion, and technology. If you’re a fan of the brooding futures of William Gibson, Blade Runner, or anything with a mood like the movie Drive, I think you’ll find something to love here.
Available exclusively on my website, it comes in limited edition deluxe-hardcover, softcover, and e-book. (And if you’re a vinyl lover, the soundtrack is pressed in 180g Moondust White; also available on my site.)
Welcome to the Dive. Hope to see you around.

How some people feel after shitting on people’s interests just because they’re popular or “basic”, and assuming they’re better than them for having niche interests (you’re the problem):
Tumblr media Tumblr media
For anyone who needs to hear it, just because someone’s extroverted or enjoys popular things doesn’t mean they’re stupid or that they even can’t have niche interests too. Crazy insane mental concept, people aren’t one dimensional. Touch grass. Or kys. Whatever works best really

OCs DESERVE BETTER -> Claudette Henderson (Stranger Things) FC: Katie Douglas "Look, if it was my brother... there's nothing in heaven or hell that would stop me from getting him back. So, you have my help - if you want it."
The older sister of Dustin Henderson, Claudette is like your average small-town girl-next-door: pretty, decently popular, cheerleader, good grades. Born with mild cerebral palsy, she has always been determined to not let her disability define her. Sure, she knows there are peers - even among her fellow cheerleaders - that laugh about her and talk about her behind her back, but she ignores it for the most part. Besides, she knows as soon as she graduates, she will be heading for university and leave the town of Hawkins behind except for visits to her mother and younger brother.
Then Will Byers go missing and Claudette finds herself joining Jonathan Byers and Nancy Wheeler - two people who she only really knows through their younger brothers' friendship - in uncovering what really happened to Will and finding him if possible. Between discovering the existence of monsters and that the government is shady as hell, Claudette begins to think whatever is happening goes far deeper than anyone could imagine.

Daniel Radcliffe said his friend told him that they were sitting behind someone in Merrily who, during the very last song, turned to the person next to them and went, "Oh, it's going backwards!"
It's hard not to sound elitist about theater when people don't get basic plot points that are literally sung over and over lmao

rewatched the original bts hyyh trilogy of music videos today.
and it still hits. there’s that melancholy, that bright joy. it’s like watching videos of old friends, remembering a time that never was. and at the same time, it so captures the growing pains of my teenage years and reminds me of how I felt back then. the way I felt so alone and afraid, like there was an emptiness at my core that I could never escape. how it seemed like a day of dicking around in the basin of an abandoned pool, of running over abandoned train tracks, of racing across the sand, no longer alone but full of joy and surrounded by friends, could give me the strength to survive one more day of childhood. I didn’t even realize that it was childhood, then. but that’s what it was, what I was. just a child, trying to learn how to live. equally ready and afraid of destroying myself at the altar of trying to feel alive.
what a relief to no longer be that child, so full of anguish! and what a shame to have lost that passion, that need to create, if only as a means of understanding that which I could not understand alone.

Dissecting Disability Representation in Media: Insights from 'My Left Foot,' 'Echo,' and 'Music Within'
In the realm of cinematic and television media, the portrayal of disabilities often treads a delicate line between realism and dramatization. This intersection is vividly illustrated in productions like “My Left Foot,” the TV show “Echo,” and the film “Music Within.” As someone who is both neurodivergent and living with cerebral palsy, I approach these portrayals with a critical eye, keenly aware…

Yesterday, I took delivery of the first printing of my novel, COLOR OF A MIRROR. It’s hard to believe that I wrote a book, that it’s finally a real thing… even more surreal that people are beginning to read this story in so many different places.
Books are in stock now on my website, including the brutalist “ArtificeLux Edition” deluxe hardcover (shown below). Be sure to check it out if you want an unconventional, dark cyberpunk novel to keep you company this winter!
(And listen to the dark ambient soundtrack while you read! Available on Spotify and other streaming services, or on vinyl in limited quantities on my site.)
