Happy Cerebral Palsy Awareness Month! 💚
For those who are unaware, March is Cerebral Palsy Awareness Month. To celebrate, I made this drawing of some characters I headcanon to have CP! The characters are Monty (FNAF), Derpy (My Little Pony), Angel Dust (Hazbin Hotel) and Juldarami (Squirrel and Hedgehog).
As someone with the disability myself, I'd really appreciate it if you could show your support for those with cerebral palsy and share some of your own art for this special occasion.

World Cerebral Palsy Day 2024
Happy World Cerebral Palsy Day 2024 from Crip Video Productions! 🎉🌍
Today, we celebrate the vibrant achievements of individuals with Cerebral Palsy (CP) around the globe! CP is considered a form of neurodiversity, highlighting the unique ways in which individuals experience and interact with the world. At Crip Video Productions, we are dedicated to depicting characters with CP living full and vibrant lives, ensuring that people with Cerebral Palsy are actively involved in all our film productions.
We apologize for not always posting on World CP Day, but thanks to a fan’s reminder, we’re making it a priority to share annually! 💚
Special thanks to all our supporters for helping spread awareness! For more information about Cerebral Palsy, check out our "About Page" here: Crip Video Productions About Page.
Be sure to check out our films: 🎬 Drama Sighted 🎬 Only Those Who Limp Allowed 🎬 Crips Not Creeps 🎬 A Stroke Of Endurance
These films focus on the fictionalized personal experiences of individuals with Cerebral Palsy, shedding light on their unique stories and challenges. Plus, don’t miss our public speaking videos like Insights For Educators and Cerebral Palsy Awareness to further your understanding, activism, and advocacy!
Please share our films with those you love who have Cerebral Palsy or want to learn more about it! This month, we have several public speaking engagements focused on educating the community about the needs of individuals with CP. We'll keep you updated on these events!
On September 24 2024 I spoke to more teaching students. We discussed music and dance accessibility in classrooms, implementing IEPs, integrating special education disabled students in general education classrooms and accommodating anxiety disorder and Cerebral Palsy and Autism in classrooms. We discussed the challenges teachers face in providing the right support, and the importance of proper diagnoses for students. We discussed how teachers are often not given the right information to assist disabled students and how students may not be properly diagnosed. This led to some students and the instructor saying they were seeking a proper diagnosis for themselves.
Let’s continue to advocate for a world where everyone is celebrated and valued as a human being!

25th of march is cerebral palsy awareness day!
Tumblr media Tumblr media
[ID: What is.. Cerebral Palsy?
Cerebral Palsy affects about 1 in every 400 children born in the UK. There are three main types:
Spastic: 75-90%. Spasticity tightens and contracts a person's muscles. This can make movement difficult.
Ataxic APX 5%. Ataxia causes difficult with balance, co-ordination and spacial awarness. It can also affect speech and language.
Dyskinetic APX 5-20%. Dyskinetic CP makes it difficult to control limbs and muscles. It may affect speach and language.
Cerebral Palsy affects different parts of the body. There are four diagrams: one with the left arm shaded in reads: “Monoplegia is One limb, usually an arm”. The diagram with the left half of the body shaded in reads: “Hemiplegia is One side of the body; legs arms and torso”. The diagram with all of the body except the head shaded in reads: “Quadripligia is All four limbs”. The diagram with just the legs shaded in reads: “Dipligia is Symmetrical parts of the body; legs or arms”.
No two people experience Cerebral Palsy in the same way. People can experience difficulties with different things: Breathing, movement, posture, balance, pain, eating, sight, hearing.
The infograph is attributed to CP Sport (Cerebral Palsy Sport). On facebook and twitter as: @/cp_sport. And on the website: www.cpsport.org.
Second image text reads: 10 Things I didn’t know about cerebral palsy (until I had a kid with cerebral palsy).
1. Cerebral palsy isn't so rare.
2. It's caused by brain damage.
3. There are different kinds.
4. There are varying degrees
5. It messes with muscles big & small
6. It can make you tight or loose.
7. It can be different every day.
8. There is no cure.
9. It doesn't disable your personality.
10. You shouldn't feel bad for people with cerebral palsy. /End ID]

Dissecting Disability Representation in Media: Insights from 'My Left Foot,' 'Echo,' and 'Music Within'
In the realm of cinematic and television media, the portrayal of disabilities often treads a delicate line between realism and dramatization. This intersection is vividly illustrated in productions like “My Left Foot,” the TV show “Echo,” and the film “Music Within.” As someone who is both neurodivergent and living with cerebral palsy, I approach these portrayals with a critical eye, keenly aware…

Promising Study Links Breast Milk Fat to Reduced Cerebral Palsy Risk
A recent study has found an exciting link between a fat in breast milk and the potential to lower the risk of cerebral palsy in premature babies. Cerebral palsy is the most common motor disorder in children. It can cause lifelong challenges, like trouble walking, speaking, and doing everyday tasks. Researchers at Duke University discovered that this special fat may help form new cells that…

How Endocannabinoids Could Transform Cerebral Palsy Management
Tumblr media
World Cerebal Palsy Day 6th October
Cerebral palsy (CP) is a group of disorders that affect a person's ability to move and maintain balance and posture. It is the most common motor disability in childhood, and its symptoms can vary significantly from one person to another. The underlying causes of cerebral palsy are still not fully understood, but it is believed to result from a combination of genetic, developmental, and environmental factors. Recent research has suggested that endocannabinoids, a group of neuromodulatory lipids and their receptors in the brain, might play a role in regulating cerebral palsy.
Endocannabinoids and Their Function
Endocannabinoids are substances produced naturally by the body. They are part of the endocannabinoid system (ECS), which plays a crucial role in regulating various physiological and cognitive processes, including fertility, pregnancy, pre-and postnatal development, appetite, pain sensation, mood, and memory.
The ECS comprises three key components: endocannabinoids, receptors, and enzymes. The two primary endocannabinoids are anandamide (AEA) and 2-arachidonoylglycerol (2-AG). These endocannabinoids interact with cannabinoid receptors CB1 and CB2 found throughout the body, primarily in the central nervous system and immune cells, respectively. Once the endocannabinoids have fulfilled their function, they are broken down by enzymes.

Endocannabinoids and Cerebral Palsy
Although the exact mechanisms are still being researched, there are several ways through which endocannabinoids could potentially influence the progression and symptoms of cerebral palsy.
1. Neuroprotection: Endocannabinoids, particularly AEA and 2-AG, are known to provide neuroprotective effects. They can help reduce inflammation and oxidative stress, both of which are thought to contribute to the brain damage seen in cerebral palsy. By mitigating these damaging effects, endocannabinoids could potentially protect the brain and limit the severity of cerebral palsy symptoms.
2. Modulation of Neuroinflammation: The ECS plays a crucial role in modulating neuroinflammation. Dysregulation or imbalance in the ECS can lead to chronic inflammation, which is believed to be a contributing factor to the development of cerebral palsy. By helping to regulate inflammation, endocannabinoids could potentially prevent or slow down the progression of cerebral palsy.
3. Regulation of Muscle Tone: Some research suggests that the ECS might play a role in regulating muscle tone. Given that muscle stiffness and spasticity are common symptoms of cerebral palsy, it is possible that endocannabinoids could help manage these symptoms by influencing muscle tone.
Conclusion
While there is still much to learn about the role of endocannabinoids in cerebral palsy, early research suggests they may have potential therapeutic benefits. However, more extensive studies are needed to fully understand their role and the mechanisms through which they exert their effects. It is important to remember that while the endocannabinoid system has potential, it is just one piece of the puzzle in understanding and treating cerebral palsy. As always, any treatment should be under the guidance of a healthcare professional and based on comprehensive scientific research.

Official Diagnosis Of Scoliosis+Cobb Angle
Good morning everyone. It’s been a minute since I have written on here. School started back and it has been both hectic and exciting at the same time. This semester, I am finally going to start being the co-clinician in my school’s speech and hearing clinic. I am elated about that. One day I was thinking about my back and how I forgot to go to the hospital to get the x-ray series with…

Why do you headcannon Juldarami as having cerebral palsy? Not trying to be mean, just curious.
Thank you for the ask, I'd love to talk about it!
Of course, there isn't any evidence in the show to suggest that he has it, but I like to think that he does because it makes me feel closer to him as he's sorta like a comfort character to me.
There isn't much representation for people with invisible disabilities in the media (especially for those with mild CP like me) so I've got loads of headcanons. The idea of a character who is very strong and sprightly but also has the same disability as me feels very inspiring, even if it has no basis in canon.
Sorry this is a little long, I hope this answers your question 💚

Happy Cerebral Palsy Awareness Day !!!
[Image description: A halfBody drawing of two characters with cerebral palsy in a simple art style. The character on the left is smiling while bending their arms close to their chest with curled fingers. They have yellow puffy hair, pale skin and a faded cleft lip scar. They are wearing a yellow hairband, hearing aids and a black crop top with a nonbinary flag pin. They're sitting in a manual wheelchair. The second character is hunched over towards them and has his hand on their shoulder in a friendly manner. He has brown skin, black twists, and a cataract in his right eye. He is wearing a light green hoodie and jeans. He is resting his forearm on a crutch. The background is in muted green and yellow with a ribbon going around the whole image. The ribbon has the disability pride flag colors on it and text that says "25th march". End image description.]

Ableism is so funny to me??? Like babe you’re not abled, you’re just pre-disabled. I just came with the disabled DLC pre-installed. You’re gonna have to update eventually or quit playing the game. You either die abled to live long enough to see yourself become disabled.

Cover illustration for Farther Than The Moon by Lindsay Lackey!
This was my first middlegrade book cover and the story hit close to home. My little sister is also someone with special needs so the process of making this illustration was definitely an emotional journey. Lindsay did an incredible job capturing that sibling relationship and I did my best to match it with the same care and tact. Thanks so much to AD Samira Iravani for trusting me with this one!
