Ip Man: Born in Foshan, Guangdong Province, Ip Man (Yip Man) carried Wing Tsun into modern times. The Shaolin Nun and Her Revolutionary Creation Legend tells us that during the volatile period of China’s Ming-Qing dynastic transition, there lived an exceptional Shaolin Nun named Wu Mei Shi Tai, more commonly known as Ng Mui, or “Five Plums Nun.” She was a scholar of the body, combat, and nature itself. Observing the fluid, evasive grace of the Crane and the coiled, unpredictable precision of the Snake, she conceived a new fighting method that prioritized subtlety over brute force. Where many Shaolin styles relied on extended stances, sweeping kicks, and powerful external strikes, Ng Mui envisioned a system that leveraged angles, economy of motion, and explosive close-range techniques. Her brainchild, eventually known as Wing Tsun (also spelled Wing Chun or Ving Tsun), was characterized by compact footwork, rapid chain-punching, and the strategic use of the practitioner’s centerline. By maintaining efficiency and focusing on deflections rather than meeting force head-on, Wing Tsun practitioners could overwhelm larger or stronger opponents in seconds. A Legacy Passed Down Through Generations From Ng Mui, the story continues through her disciples—most famously Yim Wing Chun, the young woman who gave her name to the system. Legend says that Yim Wing Chun mastered Ng Mui’s art to ward off an unwanted suitor and later passed her knowledge to her husband, thus sparking a chain of transmissions that would flourish across Southern China. Over the centuries, Wing Tsun’s reputation rose steadily. It was carefully preserved by a series of devoted masters, each adding subtle refinements but always retaining the core principles: centerline control, simultaneous offense and defense, and fluid, close-quarters technique. Eventually, it made its way into the capable hands of Grandmaster Ip Man, the man who would revolutionize and popularize the art on a global stage. Ip Man: The Global Ambassador of Wing Tsun Born in Foshan, Guangdong Province, Ip Man (also known as Yip Man) carried Wing Tsun into modern times. After moving to Hong Kong in the 1950s, he began teaching publicly, helping to spread the system far beyond China's borders. Among his legendary students was Bruce Lee, who would later transform global cinema and further galvanize interest in Chinese martial arts. Yet, the story doesn’t end with Bruce Lee. Ip Man continued to teach, refine, and codify Wing Tsun well into his later years, taking on a select group of close disciples. Rumor and folklore often swirl around who exactly was Ip Man’s “last student.” Some accounts name different individuals, each with their own compelling claims. However, all who consider themselves part of Ip Man’s final era of teaching carry a piece of that original wisdom—preserving a living link to the great Grandmaster. The Rise of the ‘Wing Tsun King’ In the constellation of Ip Man’s final cohort of disciples, there emerged one who would come to be known as the “Wing Tsun King.” This individual earned the title not merely for continued loyalty to Grandmaster Ip Man, but for embodying the purest form of Wing Tsun theory and application—honoring its foundational lineage while introducing innovative teaching methods to contemporary audiences. In adopting the methods of Ng Mui’s snake and crane theory, the “Wing Tsun King” refined the art’s close-quarters explosiveness and helped illustrate the system’s adaptability to real-world self-defense. Under his tutelage, students learn to bridge distance swiftly, coordinate reflexes to utilize both offense and defense simultaneously and neutralize threats decisively—often before an opponent even realizes the fight has begun. The Lasting Impact and Continued Evolution Despite its profound heritage, Wing Tsun remains a living tradition.

Constructive feedback after shaky landing by the Student This #aviation video is from Episode 21 - Precision Pattern work with slips, where the instructor gives guidance before and after landing. He said, "You turned so early," and after the landing happened, he said, "Try to hold it off a little bit longer." Then he added, "Don't wait on the base. When you roll out, you are on the centerline, not way inside of it." The instructor gave feedback, saying, "You did a nice job hitting straight, just work on the flare part of it."

The Importance of Taxiway Centerline Marking in Aviation Safety
Aviation safety’s number one issue is really safety, with each of the innumerable rules and networks. One of the most significant ways to ensure that all movements are conducted at the ground level with aircraft is by using effective markings on taxiways and runways. Hanfu in Components: Hanfu Anatomy, Tops (pt 3.1)
navigation: hanfu in components 1 2 3.1 3.2 4 ...
Now that you know about the names of different garments, what about the parts of each garment? There are so many confusing terms!!! I gotchu :>
When looking at hanfu and parts of hanfu, it can help to see how the garment is constructed. To do that, we have to look at the pattern of the garment. Sewing patterns are the templates that tell sewists how to cut their fabric into the shapes that are needed to make their clothes. Hanfu sewing patterns are fairly standard. They look roughly like this.

(blue = shoulder fold line // red = center front // green = center back)
To help you understand how this all comes together, when defining different parts of hanfu anatomy, I'll show it on the sketch above, and also on photos of people wearing hanfu, highlighted in green.
身/SHEN1/BODY

This refers to the body of the garment—the part that would cover your torso. Typically there are two pieces of cloth making up the body: one on the left and one on the right.
Once again, one of hanfu’s main defining characteristics is that traditionally, THE SAME PIECE OF FABRIC MAKES UP THE FRONT AND THE BACK. There is no shoulder seam separating the front and back of the garment.
袖/XIU4/SLEEVE

袖 means sleeve (in both technical and colloquial terms). There are many shapes that the sleeve can take: they can be narrow like normal clothing or they can be big and dramatic like the kind you see in cdramas. Like the body, there is no seam separating the front and back of the sleeve—the sleeve piece is draped over the arm and sewn together at the bottom. Another important characteristic is that the sleeves are joined to the body at the bicep or elbow area, NOT at the shoulder. (Short or half-sleeve tops might not have a separate sleeve piece.)
領/领/LING3/COLLAR

領 means collar (in both technical and colloquial terms). This can refer to two things: one, the general shape of the neck area (round, square, standing, cross etc.) and the actual strip of fabric that is attached at the neck to form the collar.
襟//JIN4/LAPEL

This can be translated as collar or lapel; I choose to say lapel to distinguish it from 領. This refers to the area where an open-front top would open. It’ll look different based on the collar type—generally a 對襟/对襟/dui4 jin4/parallel collar top’s jin coincides with the front centerline.

With a 交領/交领/jiao1 ling3/cross-collar top, however, it would coincide with the outer edge of the collar. (Will have a more detailed post about this later.)
下擺/下摆/XIA4 BAI3/HEMLINE

Refers to the bottom hem of the garment. 下 means down/bottom. Note that 擺 can refer to different things in different contexts. If you see someone talk about the 下擺 of a top, they’re talking about this bit.
The following terms only apply to a subsection of hanfu tops and may have fewer images as a result.
衽/REN4/LAPEL EXTENSION

This one is a little harder to translate. Applies to non-parallel lapel tops like cross collar, diagonal-lapel standing collar, and overlapping round collar garments. It’s an extension of the BODY piece on the front, sewn to the vertical center front seam, that overlaps over the other side. (Will have a more detailed post about this later.)
衩/CHA4/VENT
Also called vents or slits—an optional open slit, usually made on each side of a longer shirt or robe, to allow for ease of movement. Might be combined with the word 開/开/kai1/open to form the phrase 開衩/开衩/kai1 cha4/open slit. Mostly applies to longer robes or tops, where the length reaches the knee, so that you don’t have issues with walking.
襴/LAN2/WAIST EXTENSION

Also a little harder to translate. This only applies to 襦/ru2/Ru tops and 襴衫/襕衫/lan2 shan1/Lanshan robes, plus some varieties that were derived off of those two. The 襴/襕/lan2 is an extra rectangle of fabric appended to the bottom of a shirt/top to extend its length. It can be made of a contrasting fabric or the same fabric, and often has pleats on the sides to allow for movement. (Will have a more detailed post about this later.)
緣/缘/YUAN2/TRIM
Refers to the trim or decorative contrasting bits on a piece of clothing. Specific location goes in front of the character. For example, 袖缘 means sleeve trim, aka the cuff. Some specific trims might have their own special names but that’s for another post.
Later post about skirts/pants to come soon!

F/A-18F Super Hornet leaps off the waist cat, flying on a beautiful Navy day.
With a buddy store on the centerline (note the little propeller on the front of the tank that runs the hose reel and pump) and 4 wing tanks, this Super Hornet is the designated tanker for this cycle. With the retirement of the S-3B Viking, there are no other aircraft on the deck to fill the tanker role.
That would be an awesome spot to watch launches from.

Hey @ my fellow bitches and besties who deal with a lot constipation/gas/bloating because of IBS or other digestive issues!!
Did you know there's a way to deal with it at home on your own without medication?? Because my doctor sure didn't fucking tell me about this!! But I just tried it because my gas always makes me SO fucking nauseous that I can barely function and it takes like an hour for my nausea and IBS meds to kick in, but I always feel the urge to rub my stomach when I'm bloated, so my Wikipedia boyfriend ass googled it and YEP MASSAGING IS BACKED UP BY SCIENCE.
The article does say to not do this if you have recently had abdominal surgery, but here's the method:
"To perform abdominal massage on yourself.
Lie flat on your back with your belly exposed.
Overlap your hands on your lower belly and hold them here as you focus on your breath.
Warm your hands by rubbing them together for about 30 seconds.
Apply any oils that you’re using.
Use the palm of your hand to massage your entire stomach in a clockwise direction several times.
Then massage the centerline of your abdomen, starting below your sternum and ending at your pubic bone.
Do three more lines an inch apart down the left side of the abdomen.
Do the same on the right side of the abdomen.
Then press your fingers into your navel firmly.
Continue massaging with gentle pressure and circle outward from your navel in a clockwise direction.
You can spend extra time on specific areas or trigger points that feel like they need some extra attention.
Do this for up to 20 minutes.
If you don’t feel comfortable massaging yourself, you can also have your abdomen massaged by a massage therapist. Call before you make your appointment to see if the therapist performs abdominal massage. Not all masseuses provide this service."
I also found a slightly different one from the University of Michigan!
"Massaging your stomach can help to move stool along the inside of your colon. It may help relieve symptoms of tightness, pressure, cramping, and bloating.
Start on the right side of your stomach down by the bone of your pelvis.
Rub in a circular motion lightly up to the right side till you reach your rib bones.
Move straight across to the left side.
Work your way down to the left to the hip bone and back up to the belly button for 2-3 minutes.
Rub with your fingertips in a circular motion. You may press a little deeper with your fingers.
Spend about 1 minute moving from the right hip bone to the right ribs then 1 minute across the middle (gently) and then 1 minute down to the left bone by your pelvis to the belly button.
Repeat rub, always in a clockwise motion, for 10 minutes."*
I was literally so nauseous from being bloated that I couldn't even swallow food without feeling like I was going to puke, but I did the second one just sitting up at my desk, clockwise like they both said(I'm assuming bcs that's the direction things travel through your gut) and within like 2 minutes I felt better. I cannot BELIEVE no one has ever recommended this. Fucking life-changing. I used to just sit there and drink sprite and hope it was over soon and now I don't have to do that!! And if people already know about this that's good but like, again, no one EVER told me about this so if this can help even ONE person who struggles like I do I'll consider it a win!
Also, for clarification, I'm not advocating ditching your meds obvs, I just know it takes a while for pills to kick in and I don't think people should have to be miserable while they wait when there's something easy you can do to get some quick relief.
(*I added more bullet points to the second method because the wall of text was a little hard to read.)

"sidewalk" implies that it's concrete pavement set apart from the road by a curb and grass section, so it doesn't matter. hell, in the united states you might only have one sidewalk, or one little desire-path that winds past obstacles in a place that no one considered pedestrians going (at any rate, you're never "safe" as a pedestrian unless there's a car-proof barrier between you and traffic)
now if you're walking along the highway just pick a side, be predictable, walk in the grass and not on the road, and—here's the important bit—use some sort of light or reflector or something so i can see you if it's pitch black out
Don't just vote, discuss. Especially if you voted for one of the first 2 options. Those folks need to explain why.
#don't be that woman i saw before dawn on 98 with dark clothes WALKING ALONG THE CENTERLINE#PROTIP: CELLPHONE LIGHTS ARE UNIDIRECTIONAL!!!

Saved this from West Virginia this weekend, a 1970 Ford M151A2. Ford only made the A2 model for a single year before production shifted to AM General for the remainder of the run so they're a lot harder to find.
The prior owner did a lot of redneck engineering that I'll have to put back to factory, mainly bypassing the entire stock fuel system and instead running the engine off a coffee can taped to the front fender. Still though, it wasn't cut after leaving the Army and doesn't have much body rust underneath so it has solid bones and is a great candidate for restoration.

Someone stole the windshield between when I previewed it and when I picked it up so I guess that's first on the list to fix. The hard top is getting replaced by the vinyl one once it gets to the mechanic which should also let me mount an M60 on a pedestal between the front seats.

A little banged up underneath but nothing some TLC can't fix. Normally A2s were cut in quarters between the dash and seats and down the centerline, but it looks like this one made it out in one piece somehow. Those longitudinal rails are hollow and quite often rust completely out since they don't have a space for water to drain once it inevitably enters.

Landing on an LAX runway with autopilot is very easy. There's a technology called the Instrument Landing System (ILS). It sends radio signals to guide the aircraft towards the centerline of the runway with the optimal glide path. If the system implemented at a certain airport (like LAX) is precise enough, the plane basically lands itself with very minimum pilot input. You can land the thing without touching anything in 0 visibility, it's great.
These orange antennas at the end of a runway are the ILS localizers.
If for some reason you can't make it to a runway, and the best long flat surface you can reach is a highway, then ILS is completely out of the question. ATC may be able to point you towards the general direction of your make shift runway of choice (thanks ADS-B), but you have to manually line up your plane.
Runways have specific sets of lights to again, guide the pilots. Highways only have street lamps, and they all look the same. How do you point out where to go to a flight simulator trained child prodigy trying to make an emergency landing?
Holy shit, the cars! That's why they're all lit up but empty inside.

Does gale get to kiss John now 🥺🥺 i don’t think either of them could hold back
PLSSSS is this about Love Song? Theyre fuckin in the drafts rn
For a single moment, John thinks he’s going to be in very big trouble, defacing an Army Major like this.
Then he thinks he doesn’t want to imagine Gale as property of the United States Army ever again.
Then he takes a second good look at the body spread out before him and nearly holds his breath. Miles of tanned, soft skin. Hills and valleys of muscle and bone. A river in the divot of his spine, and the flat plains of sharp shoulderblades. Knobs of spine poking through, here and there, soft islands in the terrain. His ribs expand and contract, poking through shockingly thin, vulnerable skin before retreating back. Two dimples, on either side of the sharp triangle where the crack of Gale’s ass begins, swirled with dust-colored hair, whispy and sparse but enticing. Makes John’s mouth water without really even knowing why. And he thinks Gale would resent being compared to anything confectionary but there’s something delectable about it all. Something indulgent, and saccharine. All John knows is that his teeth ache; he wants to take a bite.
He watches the body beneath him flex with breathing and is so overwhelmed with want he isn’t quite sure how to go about fulfilling that desire.
Apparently, his visual feasting is taking too long, because Gale looks back over his shoulder, eyes tight with nerves.
“It’s differrent,” John says, stroking his hand over the body beneatgh him. Feels the tickle of arm hair under his fingers and nearly groans at the undeniable masculinity beneath him.
“Bad?”
John nearly laughs. Drags his hand down the centerline of Gale’s back, through those broad shoulders built by the oil feilds, and by holding a thousand pound bird straight. Presses his thumb against a knot of muscle down where his waist tapered to its thinnest, circling and digging into Gale went boneless and liquid. Ignores his own arousal, for just a moment, to enjoy the other ways he could make Gale feel good.
“Not bad. Just different.”
He continues his slow massage, not sure of what he’s doing but enjoying the way Gale trusted him all the same. Eyes the swell of Gale’s ass again, pert and soft-looking.
“Good, even,” he adds.
The can of crisco is right there, the top gone extra slick and shiny from the heat of the room, put off by the two of their bodies working together. It’s thick and rich smelling between his fingers, the shortening turning almost foamy as he loosens it up into something workable, “Really fucking good.”
Gale’s knees press against the inside of John’s thighs, spreading eagerly and widening the cradle for John’s cock to slip into. He takes full advantage of it, grinding forward while tugging Gale’s briefs fully out of the way. Teases Gale until he’s snarling, twitchy, grinding back against him in a slow roll as John asks him about flight checks.
