Lore Under Cut!

Brash and violent, The Red Queen rules Wonderland with an iron claw befitting of the rage-filled legacy of her breed. She clawed her way to the top of Wonderland’s protective forces as a young dragoness, but time and betrayal warped her sense of justice. The Red Queen stole the rule right out from under a dragon she once called sister, slaughtering those who opposed her and sending the rest into hiding. But there is a catch. It has been prophesied that one day, a great warrior shall fall from the sky and return peace to Wonderland. A peace that can only be restored by the death of The Mad Queen. And she would do anything to keep that from happening.

The White Queen lies in a garden of her own making, shielded from all who would wish to do her harm. Here she mourns a happier time in Wonderland, one where she did not need to hide from her dear sister. Once, they had worked tirelessly together to bring peace to the chaotic land, uniting those who sought fellowship under one banner of harmony and sanctuary. But her sister had wanted more. Her sister wanted it all. The White Queen could not bear to hurt her, so she ran instead. Believing they’d been abandoned, many turned to her sister’s regime instead, including her own beloved…

Design Notes

The Red Queen gave me so much trouble picking out her genes, especially the Tert. I wanted something that matched her eyes but didn’t clash with the rest of her. Then I found that Ruby Paisley had those blueish accents to it and wanted that to match too, and Caribbean felt like the perfect middle ground. Plus with Flameforger it looks like it’s actually casting light onto the shiny parts of Paisley.

The White Queen’s trouble mainly came from my refusal to make her double basic, but still predominantly white. For some reason FR insists on making like all the white genes turn grey, even though we have an entire range of greys to use already. Like I get there needs to be some grey to make it a gene, but there’s a difference between making it white with grey (like weaver) and making it just grey (like glimmer). Her Tert is Pistachio because the actual branch part is just a smidge lighter than using one of the grey-range colors.

I don’t often break up my lore’s found families, but when I do, you better believe there’s gonna be ✨drama✨

So when I was a kid The Black Cauldron was one of my favorite movies and I remember watching it all the time. I watched it for the first time in 20+ years yesterday and holy shit, I get it now. This movie sparked something in my little 4 year old brain to turn me into the spooky bastard I am today.
